| Oct 4 22:04:39 | Stuck in a loop-Puzzle Game | ♥ 1 | Nice concept, and lots of potential for puzzles. The teaching levels (1-5) all seemed kind of the same. Some of the later puzzles were fun. I got stuck on level 9, because even though I counted out the grid, the robot doesn't seem to stick to the visible grid (the difference between two forward steps and three doesn't seem to be a full square). | |
| Oct 4 22:16:58 | 12m 19s | DeedzLoop | ♥ 1 | The link seems to be broken maybe |
| Oct 4 23:12:13 | 55m 15s | Unscripted | ♥ 4 | Reminded me some of machinarium. I was wondering how the game fit with the theme till the end. It tied the story together well. |
| Oct 4 23:54:09 | 41m 56s | Space Police Simulator Platinum | ♥ 1 | Fun music, especially the intro. I restarted the game so I could hear it again. Fun little game of Clue. |
| Oct 4 23:55:59 | 1m 50s | DIMENSION LOOP | ♥ 1 | Cool concept. Great narrating, very self-aware. Kept me going. I died at about loop 20 because enemies come faster and with less warning from the top and bottom (because of the resolution ratio), but the promise of music made me want to try again. I'm glad I did. Extra half-point to graphics for that bloom. |
| Oct 4 23:57:52 | 1m 53s | Torus | ♥ 0 | I wasn't sure how to light the torus at first (after reading the story), and ran into a torch without knowing what it was, before figuring out what I was supposed to find. But once I figured out what I was looking for, it was fun. I'd suggest maybe using a different color for the torches or something to make that clearer. |
| Oct 4 23:59:42 | 1m 50s | Janky Marble | ♥ 1 | The colors of the obstacles made me think of a rock climbing wall. Also, go Crazy Cats Eyes! (Marble League). I liked the music. |
| Oct 5 00:01:52 | 2m 10s | Determined To Die | ♥ 0 | At first I thought this seemed kind of Super Meatboy-like. Then the sawblades showed up, and I was certain. I'm not sure whether the character itself gives me more Minion vibes or Monster's Inc's CDA vibes. Either way I like it. The ragdoll physics made the platforming itself a little unreliable, but it was fun overall. |
| Oct 5 00:04:07 | 2m 15s | Mirror Mirror | ♥ 3 | Cool concept. I liked falling and collecting coins more than I thought I would. Nice upbeat music loop. |
| Oct 5 00:08:16 | 4m 09s | Grind | ♥ 1 | When I started the compo, my wife was playing Destiny. She said I should make a game about grind. I'm glad you did. (It's a bit of a throwback, but you could have called the KPIs TPS reports). I like that you're broccoli. |
| Oct 5 00:10:16 | 2m 00s | Recursion | ♥ 0 | Very moody. Good atmosphere. Made me dizzy. |
| Oct 5 00:14:03 | 3m 47s | while (true) | ♥ 1 | Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBoRkg5-Ieg) I did not figure out how to alter reality... |
| Oct 5 00:19:24 | 5m 21s | Loading... | ♥ 0 | The opening sequence reminds me of the Sims. I got Warioware vibes from the multiple mini-games. The circle for the mouse movement felt a little small and fast, and didn't give much indication of where it was going. That was stressful, but otherwise, nice game! |
| Oct 5 03:31:25 | 3h 12m | The Loop | ♥ 1 | I missed the "E" key and restarted the game pretty far in... The spacing for the buttons in the final level wasn't clear (to keep it coded, what is "M" and what is "R" relatively is a little unclear at first). Fun game, nice puzzles/ciphers! I like the art and music. |
| Oct 5 03:39:16 | 7m 51s | UFO taxi! | ♥ 3 | The (musical) beat is fun for a bit, but on such a short loop, gets a bit grating later. I like the concept of taxiing cows, and the puzzle mechanic is fun. I think if you expanded the concept or wrote more puzzles for it, it would make a great phone game. I would ask for a pause button, since the last level seemed more like a race condition than a puzzle. |
| Oct 5 03:48:56 | 9m 40s | Stuck In A Loop Cafe | ♥ 1 | Interesting concept. The mechanics for the loop itself was pretty cool. I had trouble controlling the objects with much precision, which I'm sure was intended some to make the challenge, but it was hard to steer them to the right place in the given time, regardless of obstacles in some cases. |
| Oct 5 03:57:01 | 8m 05s | Loop Industries | ♥ 1 | Like others have said, strafing instead of turning would be great, a lot more natural feeling. Nice jokes, and nice HL setup. The graphics were great. Really nice low poly assets! |
| Oct 5 04:05:23 | 8m 22s | The Daily Grind | ♥ 3 | I really wanted the win condition that gets you out of the loop to be going outside before putting your clothes on. I ended up losing the first couple of times just because it took most of the timer to read the prompt. Maybe a confirm button after reading before starting the timer. |
| Oct 5 04:17:53 | 12m 30s | WhileLoops | ♥ 2 | Really like the audio for PlayRandomSound(). Those frustrating windows popping up right over where I was going to click, then the one I wanted disappearing! Still fun through the frustration. The commands between loops were fun too. I didn't realize I should have gotten a screenshot of my 4000+ score before I closed the page, so I could brag. |
| Oct 5 04:33:48 | 15m 55s | Oplo | ♥ 1 | Nice graphics. It feels really polished (both graphics and otherwise). Fun puzzles, especially once the course gets crowded. |
| Oct 5 04:41:26 | 7m 38s | while(true) | ♥ 1 | The concept is cool. Maybe it's meant to be this way, to make typing harder and add to the pressure, but with moving back and forth from mouse and keyboard (clicking between every level) it would have been nicer to have "Enter" move to the next level. I don't think the countdown was visible either, so I wasn't able to gauge easily how much time I had. Overall, still pretty fun though. |
| Oct 5 05:32:10 | 50m 44s | Fish Balls | ♥ 1 | Nice, calm game. Good audio. I spent a lot of time trying to get more fish and power-ups, but a lot of that time was spent watching the claw move back and forth slowly. I finally caught two large 2-pointers, but they ran into each other when the claw was releasing, so they didn't drop in the pool. Classic claw game shenanigans. the-claw.jpg |
| Oct 5 16:15:25 | 10h 43m | BLOBIUS | ♥ 0 | I wished there were anglular controls for shooting whenever I had a shot lined up, but the morphing terrain bumped me. And I especially felt that way when my missed bullet ricochetted and killed me. I like the retro arcade feel. Cool concept and fun game! |
| Oct 5 16:24:02 | 8m 37s | Abide the Loop | ♥ 0 | Feels like guitar hero for a one-stringed guitar. I started by clicking, but didn't know where to click, so I tried WASD and through brute force, figured out I seem to have to press it in counter clockwise order, starting with "D". I'd eventually miss a beat by a few microseconds. Feedback within the game on how close to the beat you were would have been nice, and variation on what to press, with indication of upcoming buttons might have made it fun to play for longer. I liked the infinite frame. Felt like I was in the twilight zone. |
| Oct 5 16:35:33 | 11m 31s | Ninja Rabbit 2020 | ♥ 1 | I like the name. It was a fun little chase. I think the controls were a bit floaty. If your character stopped when you stopped and started at full speed (moved at a constant rate only when you're moving them) it would feel a lot smoother to move. |
| Oct 5 16:43:07 | 7m 34s | Universalis | ♥ 0 | I really like the music and the mood. I feel like I'm playing kerbal space program, figuring out orbits again. It felt like the trajectories were only able to show accurately for maybe 90 degrees. It would have been nice if we could see the full orbit path when we were setting the trajectory. I'm glad to see the "Objectives" mode set for the future, and would love to see a puzzle-like game made with this. |
| Oct 5 16:56:49 | 13m 42s | Looped | ♥ 1 | I spent a few seconds staring at the banner on the website before realizing I wasn't looking at the game screen itself (you probably don't need that banner, just let the game be the first thing on the site instead of having to scroll for it). Fun use of the infinite plane. The moving red walls were too hard to time for me. I also got stuck in an infinite loop when falling in the pair of blue portals on the spike wall level, and couldn't move out of the path to break it. |
| Oct 5 17:14:13 | 17m 24s | Redneck Raceway | ♥ 1 | I like what @theseusinabottle said about Rockstar's cinematic mode, but it still needs the constant exposition while you drive. Reminded me a lot of a Mario Party 3 mini-game, controls and all: https://www.mariowiki.com/Dizzy_Dinghies |
| Oct 5 17:57:32 | 43m 19s | Loopin' Looie | ♥ 0 | I really liked the graphics. Great job for your first time doing your own art. You could have fooled me. It was a bit hard to see the platforms, so while the platforming wasn't technically hard, it was a little frustrating. |
| Oct 5 20:01:33 | 2h 04m | League of Ultranormal Detectives | ♥ 1 | Really well put together. It had good mood and everything. I also wasn't able to finish the story because my UE meter didn't work after that reveal, but I'd like to see the end if you fix that, or hear the end if you don't. Really good asset creation for 48 hours. I'm curious how you made some of those textures. |
| Oct 5 23:35:36 | 3h 34m | Zen Loop | ♥ 1 | Awesome little simulation! I wish I could make these screen savers. The music is also great too. Only drawback was the resolution messed with the button placement some. |
| Oct 5 23:42:29 | 6m 53s | StackOverflow | ♥ 2 | It's weird, it looks like you've opted out of voting for humor, which I think was this game's strong suit. |
| Oct 5 23:50:05 | 7m 36s | Orbits | ♥ 0 | Cool menu UI. It was pretty chill sitting around and reading interesting things for the different satellites as they sprang up and fell out of orbit. I felt like I was playing the launching part of Kerbal Space Program. |
| Oct 6 00:19:59 | 29m 54s | STUCK? | ♥ 0 | For a while, while I was (spoiler) getting smaller, I thought I was actually just glitching into the ground. I'm not sure if there's a way to indicate size changes better, but they seemed so incremental that it was weird to realize after things worked and I didn't know how, instead of figuring it out then working it out. Still fun though, good mechanic, and good use of space for infinite looping. |
| Oct 6 03:19:19 | 2h 59m | Torus Time Traveler | ♥ 1 | Cool concept (getting some Chronotrigger vibes). I also like the Greek mythology! Nice graphics too. |
| Oct 6 03:26:48 | 7m 29s | Hyperbolic Space Fighters Extreme! | ♥ 1 | Beautiful game! I think this is the first game where I'm more interested in the code that made it than the game itself, especially when the game itself is pretty good. |
| Oct 6 03:40:39 | 13m 51s | Repeat Robot | ♥ 0 | Fun concept, well executed. Like the others, my biggest gripe is the controls. I pressed space bar to jump quite a few times, and was probably lucky that I heeded someone's warning above about staying away from the "S" button. I liked your graphics too. |
| Oct 6 03:55:03 | 14m 24s | Flip a Talk | ♥ 2 | I really like the why behind the game. Making games that teach is really important. The "battles" seemed kind of slow, and it was hard to tell what the opponent was doing (why certain numbers changed on their turn). I think they were playing their own cards from a set, but it wasn't transparent. There were a couple cards where the blue (good) action was actually a bad action (I saw "Rude Talk" which seemed to normally be red, labelled blue sometimes). Fun game overall, and really like the reason for it! |
| Oct 6 04:02:23 | 7m 20s | Debugger | ♥ 1 | A bit of a frustrating platformer at times, when I thought I jumped, but it didn't take the jump, then I had to wait for the slow moving code blocks to come back. I really liked the setting though, very creative there! Also, not sure why the audio category is missing (I'm guessing you might not have made the audio then?) but I liked that too. |
| Oct 6 04:40:48 | 38m 25s | Looper | ♥ 2 | Between the music, the clean feel, and the feedback when you get the stars, it felt a lot like one of the smaller Nintendo titles. I think the aesthetic with the cutout lines makes me remember Snipper Clippers, even though the gameplay is different. The controls were a little weird, with "Z" being a little harder to get to for switching loops or confirming things than something like the space bar, and I felt like it was easy to overshoot where I wanted to land, which is deadly with all those spikes, but I had fun, and like the concept! |
| Oct 6 04:54:38 | 13m 50s | Dear John | ♥ 1 | That sucks that this was based on true events... |
| Oct 6 05:05:17 | 10m 39s | AUTOLOOP | ♥ 2 | A little disappointed there were no triads... Honestly though, this was worth it for the music (your blog post on creating the music was actually what brought me here). I got stuck on a wall a couple times at the start, and it wouldn't let me keep moving. After two restarts, I knew what was coming, so I got past it. Once I got all the power-ups and got the ending, I left it running on auto for a few minutes just to listen to the music more. |
| Oct 6 05:30:58 | 25m 41s | GOTO START; | ♥ 2 | Interesting card game. I haven't played Slay the Spire yet, but I played another card game that claimed to draw (pun intended) inspiration from there, and I saw similar mechanics here, especially getting a new card between fights. I managed to make it to the end of the game at full health. I found a good combo in the Coffee Break, Wizard (5 inspiration and 3 cards), and the find a card one, and managed the last fight in one or two (very long) turns. |
| Oct 6 05:36:09 | 5m 11s | SnakeLoops | ♥ 1 | Lychee said what I was thinking. I've never played Snake Pass either, but I immediately thought of that. You were right, the levels were tough, but the confetti was nice. |
| Oct 6 05:44:27 | 8m 18s | Snoozefall | ♥ 2 | Good mood. Felt nice and surreal. The art and the music were great. |
| Oct 6 05:51:17 | 6m 50s | a nice place | ♥ 1 | I liked the atmosphere and the story. I know the graphics weren't entirely made during the compo time, but I still liked them. |
| Oct 8 05:15:46 | 47h 24m | Warehouse Madness | ♥ 1 | The music was great, and the graphics were great. I saw a blog post of yours and the graphics drew me in. I had some fun wandering the labyrinth trying to find where I should put down my box, until I finally ended up able to drop it off right across the way. The controls were hard to manage with the camera fixed like that. I think having the camera rotation follow the lift's rotation (so when you press forward, you go forward in camera view) would be really helpful. I put the red box in the red zone, picked up a green box, then got trapped in a small space. I felt like the scene in Austin Powers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_A66lAAMDM |
| Oct 8 05:23:48 | 8m 02s | Leftfoot Louie | ♥ 2 | Feels like the classic part of GTA, but you can only turn left. Like some others, my car started wobbling often, and was hard to control or do much with at that point. On my second drive, I managed to stay on the road for a while before that happened, and got to fully experience that feeling again where your skateboard always drifts left and you can't stay on the sidewalk. |
| Oct 8 05:40:39 | 16m 51s | Conciousness | ♥ 1 | It started out really dark and moody. Then your inner voice started talking and cracking jokes. And it kept going back and forth between the two. I didn't know whether to feel creeped out from the atmosphere or not creeped out cause of the jokes. Then the jokes got creepy, so it all worked out! I did have to do the dreamcatcher room twice because I accidentally went downstairs when I didn't know where to go. |
| Oct 9 00:37:31 | 18h 56m | HONK II | ♥ 1 | I tried it out for the metal soundtrack and wasn't disappointed. The sound is great. The game feels polished. I do wish there was an indicator for ammo. It looked like there was for a bit, till my gun ran out and I had to swap. Then I had a hard time telling which guns were empty or not, frantically scrolling while dodging bullets. |
| Oct 9 00:51:20 | 13m 49s | Moving On | ♥ 1 | The music was pretty good. I failed a couple rooms till I got the number with the over-under. Then when I passed the room, the starter block fell down again and I didn't know whether it wanted me to do more there now that I'd passed a test or not, so I clicked it. Then that failed me. |
| Oct 26 16:34:14 | 423h 42m | Space Drummer | ♥ 2 | Really cool idea. I like when the music is attached to what happens in the game, and I really like how you can control the music to influence what happens in the game. The first two times I tried, it felt really hard, since I didn't realize I was supposed to create the drum loop at the start. I think it would be nicer, instead of front-loading all the drum loop creation, if you could add an extra beat or two every level, so you get the feeling of levelling up, and so you can ramp up the difficulty and the player's abilities at an even rate. It would also give variety to the music, if it changes every level as you add to it. If you do a future version of this, I'd even go past the drum loop, and maybe layer the music together, so you can add the music in over time and make that also go from a basic bassline or something to a sonic wall. The concept kind of reminds me of how some games, like Sunset Overdrive, layer in their music based on the action (just in this case, it's the other way around, which is really cool). |
| Oct 27 00:21:01 | 7h 46m | Day 1 | ♥ 1 | I like these types of strategy games. It took me a bit to parse what each of the buildings actually did, and even after reading their descriptions it was a bit confusing. And the number of actions didn't seem to line up very well especially with the earlier math (there isn't any strategy early on where you need the third action), but those kinks can be worked out. The concept itself is nice, and the gameplay has lots of potential. Someone mentioned the rain sounds being nice. It's tough in the compo to do everything, but I agree that just the sound of rain, since it's there on the screen, would have been a nice extra. |
| Oct 27 16:32:28 | 16h 11m | Detachment Undone | ♥ 1 | Nice hand-painted background, and interesting music. The biggest challenge of the gameplay was actually just trying to click and drag the objects themselves. It looks like the hit-box to click and drag might be a little down and to the right of the objects we see. After a few levels, I saw that I was doing the same thing with no sense of progression in mechanics, so I wasn't sure if I could struggle with the hit boxes for another 7 levels, but the experience of the art and music was nice while I played. |
