Apr 20 02:31:39 Dog Feeder ♥ 1 I had fun with this. It would have been nice to have like a start button so that you could think about the puzzle before acting but I was able to manage and still played through the whole thing. Made me chuckle too. Great job!
Apr 20 02:50:17 18m 38s Keith's Flint & Steel ♥ 1 I had trouble figuring out the mechanics and controls at first but once I did I had fun with it. I couldn't manage to beat it. Every time I was close the "Lose" showed up for what seemed like no reason at all. Anyway, I love the background track and the art style. Really good job!
Apr 20 02:59:13 8m 56s Don't Leaf Me ♥ 1 The highlight of this game was definitely the puns. Loved it! Some of the jumps were slightly irritating but I was entertained enough to finish it out. And I'm not gonna lie I played with the water drops at the end until they were maxed out.
Apr 20 03:09:29 10m 16s In A Game Wherein ♥ 1 Very interesting. I would say this is starting to blur the lines of a game and interactive art. I do appreciate that as a contribution though so well done.
Apr 20 03:19:55 10m 26s Rock Raiser ♥ 1 I was real close to calling it quits on this one but decided to give it a chance. So I left it on in the background and started browsing other games. Then I heard a sound and saw that my rock grew bigger. Then it needed some water. It was fun - as a background game. Is there a challenge? - No. But overall I thought it was a good effort and right on theme.
Apr 20 03:45:25 25m 30s FEED ♥ 1 Love the concept and art style. The controls took a bit to get used to but once I got it I didn't stop until I beat it. It was very satisfying to get all that cleaned up. I feel like with a bit more polish on the level design and controls this has the potential to be a great game. Nice job!
Apr 20 04:12:32 27m 07s Monolithique ♥ 0 Something about the monochrome art style just sits with me really nicely. It's awesome to see recognizable objects with that style. The controls worked great and the anti-projectile was a nice touch. I played through one round and enjoyed it enough, but I wasn't really encouraged to play another round. I agree with @nimphious about the spawn rate. Doing something like waves of enemies would be nice.
Apr 20 04:33:34 21m 02s BBYS ♥ 1 Well, it's not an easy game. I like the game boy color throwback graphics, it's just a little bit too tedious to have fun with. I did really like the visual and sound design for nostalgic reasons.
Apr 20 05:01:47 28m 13s The Acolyte ♥ 1 Ok. I tried. Really tried. Rushed it the first few times and was like ok let me just take it slow. Well, that didn't help. The attack range is way to small and the fact that you stop when you attack makes it even worse. I wanted to finish it but the enemy attacks are almost impossible to dodge unless you are already moving when they fire. On the plus side - the gothic metal theme was super cool with the music and everything. The start(and end) screen was also very well done. I would love to see how it ends but I am not sure I have the patience. Maybe I'll try again later. It's not a bad entry, but man is it frustrating.
Apr 20 05:51:14 49m 27s DeeperWeDelve ♥ 1 Wow! I just absolutely love this. I could go on about the flaws but I think they are pretty obvious and largely due to lack of time it seems. The aesthetic is awesome. I wish more games had this style. The color, the 2.5D perspective, even the movement felt nice. I am not the biggest fan of dungeon crawling but I could get into this if it was fleshed out a little bit more. One flaw I will point out is that if the camera is moving before a textbox appears the camera will continue moving. A part from that, I think you know what needs to be included and I would say - don't give up on this one. Great job!
Apr 20 06:45:07 53m 53s Ludum Dare 46 Entry: Tree Sim ♥ 1 I have wanted to create a game similar to this for a while but I just couldn't work out the details into a game. Nice work! I really liked the idea of singing to the plant and it was implemented well. I would disagree with your statement about the theme @alex-mulkerrin I feel like this fits it quite well. If I were to nitpick I would want a bit more strategy involved but this game feels complete even without it. Thumbs up!
Apr 20 07:13:50 28m 43s Wonder ♥ 1 I'm impressed the amount of content you managed to fit into this entry. I couldn't stop until I finished. Love the mood and concept. Not sure how on theme it is but it doesn't matter. I enjoyed playing it.
Apr 20 08:57:29 1h 43m ECHO ♥ 2 I really like what you were going for here. Unfortunately I could not manage to get past the second level. Maybe I was doing something wrong but I kept trying to feed it with the walls but couldn't ever get enough to continue to the end. The art style and sounds were invoking a nice atmosphere and I wanted to stay in the world but there were times it started to make me feel a little motion sick. Nice entry.
Apr 20 09:18:28 20m 59s Lighthouse Keeper and the Shadow Pirates ♥ 1 This one is all about the soundtrack. Fantastic! It was nostalgic yet still catchy and relevant. I did like the art style too. It had a kind of crayon drawn style which I liked. The game play was average compared to what I've seen so far - not great, but not bad either. Nothing else I can say about it that hasn't already been said. Good job!
Apr 20 09:54:17 35m 49s Pogo ♥ 1 If pitfall and duck tales had a baby this is what would come out, albeit much harder. It's a game...plain and simple. Not much more to say than that.
Apr 21 14:22:31 28h 28m Final Instruction ♥ 1 This was good work. I liked the graphics and mood of the game for sure. Every time I thought I had a good handle on the game something else broke down or ran out. Well balanced. It's not my favorite type of game but I still liked playing it.
Apr 21 14:39:12 16m 41s Slimekeep ♥ 1 Not bad. I'm a sucker for this art style so nice job there. The game played well enough. The amount of screen shake for that small a gun was a little exaggerated. But then I thought, maybe that's from the blobs blowing up.
Apr 21 14:50:31 11m 19s Robot Tale ♥ 1 Good entry. I liked the style of the game in general and the story was built out well enough which you don't see a lot of with other entries so nice job. The controls were fine but what I had trouble with was the balance of the game. It seemed like I ran out of energy too quickly for early game. A bit of polish on that and your on your way to a great game!
Apr 22 03:42:35 12h 52m Magic Garden ♥ 1 Lovely little short metroidvania here. I would love to see this expanded. I appreciate how you kept the game's difficulty down by making the flowers a health equivalent. I was entertained all the way up until the end and then...well - meh. I was really hoping for a fantastic finish.
Apr 22 03:58:19 15m 44s Cosmic Felk is Dead! Long Live Cosmic Felk! ♥ 1 You know, I feel like this genre is just something I missed out on in my gaming life. I definitely appreciate the intention behind it, and when in the right kind of mood I feel I could really get into it. The graphics are great, mood is great, audio is great and I love the artistic direction you took with this entry so great job!
Apr 22 04:16:06 17m 47s Square Loves Circle! ♥ 1 I love puzzle platformers and this was a good entry for that genre. I had enough fun with it but it got a little frustrating after a while and I feel like the controls were to blame here. They were a little too floaty or physics-y for my tastes(if that makes sense).
Apr 22 06:11:44 1h 55m Keep Him Alive ♥ 1 Hilarious! And a good social commentary. Unfortunately it was hard to understand what it was I was actually trying to accomplish. The resource management without being able to actually manage your resources was frustrating. I would say that this game achieved what it was going for - it's funny, it's a nice poke at society, but it just isn't fun.
Apr 22 06:31:29 19m 45s Astronautical ♥ 0 So...not really sure what is happening in this game. I couldn't quite figure out what or who I was shooting at. I like the look of it but there was no moment that really caught my attention. I was just kind of confused and ultimately bored. If some more controls and polish to the concept were realized maybe it would have turned out great. As it stands right now though. Borderline unplayable. As an addendum to the above: I re-read the description and realize what you were going for. So I tried it again. Unfortunately I did not have a much better experience the second time around. I will say the orbital mechanics is a really cool concept that if developed more could be super epic.
Apr 22 06:39:23 7m 54s A Fistful of Daisies ♥ 2 Good stuff! The theme and atmosphere is what is great about this. The lone daisy in the desert is such a great and poetic concept.
Apr 22 07:21:03 41m 40s Doggo ♥ 1 I was going to point out that there is a bug that makes you fly off but it looks like other people have already caught that for you. Otherwise - I love these voice overs. So good. I mean you must have recorded those right? Anyway, the concept makes sense for the theme so good job! If there was something more than a ramp up of enemies - sorry I missed it.
Apr 22 07:47:38 26m 35s Cat Ball ♥ 1 Super cool! I was a bit confused at first at how to control everything but once I got it it was really fun. The control scheme was something I haven't really played too much with but I liked it. Learning the physics of the "Cat Ball" was quite the learning curve but you catch on pretty quick. The animation and smoothness of the character movement was on point. My largest complaint here is how quickly the difficulty ramped up. Although that is not uncommon from what I have seen from other games in this compo. Very creative - nice work!
Apr 22 08:35:44 48m 06s Spirit Of Dying ♥ 1 I'm not sure I understand the other reviews here. I will try to be as honest as I can. First the bad - it just felt lazy. Basic movement with basic collection mechanics. Even the level up system never really felt like a reward. Typically you would want to seek the level up path but with this, I found my self searching for hearts more than level ups. My biggest complaint here is that if you are going to include a level up option than include some type of decision making. I really felt funneled into a single path the whole time. And that's what this game boils down to. Follow a singular linear path until you worked it out good enough to reach the end. Now the good - love the art style and feel of the game. If it was a bit more fleshed out I could really find my self not getting enough of this game. Sounds were good also. There was a welcomed intensity to the game which works well with the theme. Overall - A good effort but fell short on too many fronts to be memorable.
Apr 22 08:56:50 21m 06s Precious Animals ♥ 0 This game could have really used some intro level gameplay before the onslaught of bullet hell that it is currently. Bullets that reflect and then come right back as a first attack just seems unfair. If there was a slower progression of difficulty then this game could have been a very addictive play.
Apr 22 09:05:09 8m 19s Blokrok ♥ 1 Yeah this is much better than other similar games I've played from this compo. Art style is good. I love that you allowed some forgiveness in the shield. It was a little too forgiving at times though. I would have preferred a larger shield with less forgiveness but that's a small gripe. Other than that it's a good go at it man!
Apr 23 14:49:18 29h 44m Back Four Seconds ♥ 1 Nice stuff! I love the simple graphical style and the sounds were nice as well. I had fun trying to solve the mystery. To just give some type of feedback I would say that the time travel could have used more delineation and polish. Maybe some indicators of events. That is a small criticism though cause I thought this was really well done.
Apr 24 02:40:39 11h 51m Robot Walk ♥ 1 I really like this concept! I wish I could have seen your vision fully imagined. The mechanics are super cool and I can see a lot of potential here. I Look forward to a continuation of this if you decide to keep going post compo.
Apr 24 02:49:06 8m 27s Space Exodus ♥ 2 Definitely a different game play mechanic that you don't see too often. I love the color scheme and art style you went with. Choosing those colors over just black and white was a great design choice. This is a good pull it up when you are bored waiting at the DMV type of game. Not a whole lot of depth to it but a good way to pass the time. Great work!
Apr 24 03:06:35 17m 29s Polar ♥ 0 Okay. I love this entry. It was fun, addicting, the controls were tight. Going simple is a great option if executed well and this was. I'll try to keep the politics out of this but the commentary on the global climate great. And the inevitablity of dying at the end, whether intentional or not, was a perfectly suited to the commentary. Awesome work!
Apr 24 03:28:27 21m 52s The HeartBit ♥ 1 Not a bad entry. I do think the acceleration could be toned down a bit. It seemed like certain jumps were really sluggish and then others were just flying all around. The ground movement didn't really match what happens in the air. It also seemed like the infinite wall jump on the same wall was a bug turned into a feature. I appreciate that for sure but just wanted to point it out. Okay. So bad out of the way. I love precision platformers and this is exactly that. You must be precise on each jump to be successful. Sometimes patience is important while other times speed is important. I love that balance in games. I would assume this was intended, but it really really reminds me of Meatboy. Anyway - I had fun with this. Great work!
