LD50 — Delay the inevitable

It's Not Me It's You by John Livingston 2022-04-05T16:22:53Z

Very funny concept, I really enjoyed playing it! I think with a little bit of a tutorial I would have understand it without having to do a run-through of just trying things out. Maybe I missed a tutorial screen though- my bad if that's the case! Definitely a memorable game and sticks REALLY well to the theme!

From Beyond The Stars by 0X_VOID_X0 2022-04-04T13:31:08Z

This is really a lot of fun! Gameplay is very enjoyable and easy to pickup, the graphics are excellent and all of the enemy rockets are easy to see and understand quickly into the experience. I loved the sense of danger as the rockets were swarming earth. The "ultimate" system is nice and rewarding too. Music is great and SFX are great! Extra props for it being run in a browser too.

My one very minor gripe is that with the laser caution sign being connected to the edges of the screen/game area, when it comes from the lower/right side, it conflicts with the ultimates and I didn't see it next to them the first time I played which was a little confusing. Very minor though!

I survived 47 days and destroyed 467 rockets. Surely I did my best at delaying the inevitable... great job!

Impending Darkness by Kita 2022-04-05T17:02:41Z

Very fun game! As others have said the atmosphere really grabbed me. I think it stuck to the theme really well too and overall is an enjoyable game. The tutorial / main menu area was super helpful and enhanced the experience.

Game User Experience Manager Simulator by jess from online 2022-04-04T14:27:31Z

Really fun idea for a game. Definitely unique and overall I enjoyed how intuitive the game plays. I think it's only hurt by it's length of course; more scenarios would make for more playthroughs, and more commands to enter would add to the hectic-ness of seeing the mouse cursor move to an undesired button. I found myself preemptively writing in DELETE before the next screen/area appeared which made it a lot easier, but I'm sure with more commands that would get rid of that facet. I think it's definitely a good entry as my only gripe was that I wanted more! Awesome job :)

Overall I really enjoyed it!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Da Bomb! by Cal 2022-10-21T14:25:57Z

Fun game! I think the art, animations, audio, and gameplay itself were all very fun and high quality. My one downside was that the puzzle pattern had these very fast glitches where it would display a red square sometimes at random (for a very very short period of time), and I thought that this was the pattern for a few minutes so I would be wrong over and over. I think without that little glitch it would have made that puzzle a little more straightforward for me but other than that you did an amazing job!

HALL OF GAMES by spudboy 2022-10-21T15:02:40Z

I had a ton of fun with this. Very unique, enjoyable, everything worked great, and I loved a lot of the little details, like the music getting faster. I loved the chaotic feeling! Got to 30.

You Have a Call by dp3rucha 2022-10-06T22:19:23Z

Love the theme, love the mood. (maybe it's just me but I don't see an "Audio" to vote on? That's a shame because the music was great!

The only downsides I had were: - the text sometimes was really too much to read in such a short period of time. - the text in the responses being different sizes was really tough on my eyes. I like the font that you used, but the different sizes made it a little difficult to quickly read.

Overall I really enjoyed this one, and I think if it had just a little bit more testing on it then these two negatives would have been taken care of. Well done!! This could be a full game.

[WebGL/HTML5] Music Demon by leorid 2022-10-13T15:25:58Z

This was ingenious design, and being an audio person I'm totally grabbed by the way it handles the music! Well done! Fun interactions and I feel like you somehow have already had rounds and rounds of testing because the gameplay felt polished and perfectly difficult. One thing I would have liked was maybe more over the top music, like screaming guitar parts and harder hitting drums if that makes sense. Definitely not taking away any points for that though, and the feedback is meant as a more "A+ job on the music, maybe here's one little thing to take it even further". Awesome job by this team and looking forward to more!

BackToSchool by Ironfred 2022-10-21T14:47:36Z

Fun game! Sound design was great. I didn't have any bugs and it actually worked really well for me, but one downside was that the flashlight was a little weird. Against walls it was very bright and then far from walls it was too dim. I'm not even sure of a solution- something with the intensity var I'd guess but I've prototype'd games like this in Unity before and had the same kinds of issues. Still a fun game! I didn't beat it however, spoilers: I got to the gym and couldn't figure out what to do with the ball.

Major Magics by CasualNothing 2022-10-11T18:06:48Z

Fun little game! Worked well for me and it didn't take long to figure out. I've noticed that usually LD games tend to lack an initial "how to play" / onboarding screen but I actually liked how yours I was just thrown into the game and then given a bit of a "hint" during the lightning strikes. I think the way you tied it to the audio buildups was very smart too. Well done!

Sylvestor by iliusha 2022-10-13T15:32:06Z

Lol very fun.

Pros: - great humor, love the main menu buttons - good level of difficulty!

Wants: - more levels! The mechanics felt smooth to me and I enjoyed the difficulty of that first initial jump in level 2.

I ended up playing the game like 5 times to get a death-less run in and was successful. Fun!

Party is Over by LauraHur 2022-10-13T14:57:16Z

Fun one! I really enjoy games like this and I think they are excellent for LD game jams.

Some notes: - Text was a little hard to read with the drawn font - ESC instantly bringing you out of the game was just slightly annoying. Maybe a warning would work before exiting completely because I had hit ESC accidentally a few times instead of "t" to toggle the list. - I actually thought the take on the theme was great! I enjoyed it and definitely felt the pressure of dad coming home lol. - Music was well done! - The saw item took a litle bit of pixel-hunting to find but the outcome has definitely made the game memorable for me! Will get some added humor points for this game jam.

Great job! I had a lot of fun with it.

You Fix Spaceships! by BeetleBox 2022-10-11T15:01:27Z

This is one of my favorite entries so far. It's so good! - Great take on the theme - Fun gameplay - Great writing and humor involved. LOVED the different ships and the personalities. - Music is great and the pizzicato strings are so fitting - I love how I can see the controls from the start menu and not only when the game starts. This is great for the user-experience of the game and allows for you to not have to have some kind of tutorial / onboarding step. As soon as the game started I knew (ok Z key is the action key, and arrow keys are the movement keys).

Very well done!! Thank you for the great entry.

LD54 — Limited Space

Space Survivor by maxxim 2023-10-20T16:11:48Z

Gunplay was fun! The buy-up mechanic was nice too. I think I would have liked to have some small healthpack purchase though but that would introduce a lot of balance that probably wouldn't fit in a jam. Great job on this one!

Jumping constantly is the way to go I think :)

Headbanger's Beer Run by Bauke Regnerus 2023-10-04T13:34:43Z

Very fun and funny little game. - I loved the theme! - I loved the different character types- very true to a real metal concert hahah - Gameplay was great, just slightly too hard. I wish there would be a little bit of a buffer / invincibility period after you lose a beer, I found myself making a bad decision and then getting hit too much. Maybe a 1 second invincibility would have solved that.

Great job! This was great :)

ROLLiE and the Desert Drive by civmaniac 2023-10-11T16:56:36Z

Really incredible game. Well thought out in just about every area. Love the art direction, and WOW is the gameplay mechanic fun. I still have to try the post-jam version to see what's changed but the in-jam version is one of the better ludum dare's that I've played. The inventory system is actually fun and not cumbersome at all, and so much of it just makes sense from a basic usability perspective. Great job!!

Keepsakes by poboy 2023-10-04T14:21:44Z

The ending writing was nice, I wasn't sure what the end result would be until I saw that and I'm happy with the payoff.

You fit the theme really well! Nice music and graphics.

Debugged by Back2Zero 2023-10-20T16:17:35Z

Very, very impressive mechanic. I don't think I've ever come across that in a game and really didn't even know it was possible. I had fun playing! Well done.

RIDE OF THE LIVING DEAD! by deadjolly 2023-10-17T16:12:30Z

Fun little game with a great concept and visuals. I felt like the polish was there, and the overall presentation was really nice but I was a little confused at some of the underlying design though, like having a gun as an item to pick up that you can't use offensively, but it actually helps give your characters health? I think maybe having some kind of "armor" in place of a gun would have been more logical. I also think that the intro instructions were a bit much all at once. I think I would have preferred if they were slowly introduced as you played for a more organic introductory experience. I also felt like the music was a little stop-and-go... like the first music you hear is only like a 10 second loop that repeats right as it gets going.

Of course, I'm searching for things to critique here though because this was done over the course of a weekend and with that context, the game is awesome. I would totally play a full version of this and I have faith that the team would make a killer version of it. Great job!

I don't know by addaellis 2023-10-11T13:32:45Z

I really like games like this and I had a good time. It's so nice to play something that intentionally makes you use your imagination.

Really nice writing. It was accessible and easy to read but also had some nice moments in it, like "It smells like confusion and a little desperation."

My one idea for constructive criticism- I felt a little bit lost at times. It's probably my fault as I read through pretty quickly.

Great job!

Mosh Pint by Dan Miller 2023-10-02T22:29:16Z

Super fun game! Overall theme and mood is so good. Gameplay itself felt very polished, for me it was a great level of difficulty. I loved how the guitar had the filter EQ change as you got closer to the stage. Very clever :)

I made a concert/music/metal game too so it was fun to see this one!

Cheers!!

Black Friday Overtime by Kefei Tong 2023-10-02T22:21:55Z

Fun little game! I agree with Robert above, it did feel pretty depressing but I think that's fine with the theme being what it was. I had fun bopping around. I'm not sure if I fully understand the point of the bomb though? It didn't appear to be blowing up boxes and I couldn't find any text that described what it was for?

Fun overall though! Very polished appearance and having audio was a nice plus.

Gavin's Small Backpack by CoffeUp Studios 2023-10-17T18:10:43Z

This was awesome. Just the right amount of polish on a Ludum Dare game.

The core gameplay mechanic was simple (in a good way) and fun and I wanted to get to the end. The mechanic was also introduced nicely and I had no issues with figuring it out along the way.

I think you did a really amazing job for this being your first game. Even regardless of that, it's a great entry!

LD55 — Summoning

Call to Summon by KenForest 2024-04-18T13:30:34Z

Great jam entry. I love how the style is so consistent throughout- from the "start" and "quit" buttons having phone icons, to the phone hangup SFX. That takes a lot of effort to put into a gamejam and I appreciate it so much.

Is there some kind of smoothing done on the mouse input? I love it. It feels like a real horror setting where I am looking around with my actual eyes. It could be placebo though?

Overall, this was a fun little game. I thought the gameplay mechanic was very creative and intuitive, and it stayed on the theme really well. This is a high rate!
