really fun game! at the begining it was really easy, but as i play it starts to get pretty hard. Really liked it!

fangzhangmnm 2017-12-05 06:44

you can control the jump height and jump on top of danmaku and hamster

sepjani 2017-12-05 06:56

haha cool :)

chubby-stick 2017-12-05 06:58

Love this kind of art, the game is hard that's true, but the patterns are smart ! Great game :)

mukult 2017-12-05 07:01

It did remind me of undertale. Nice work! I had fun playing it. :)

danman113 2017-12-05 07:01

Really good game! The graphics are good and the gameplay is simple but very very fun. What I liked most about it was your emphasis on story, each little story nugget is perfectly spaced to keep the pace rock solid!

kurupapuru 2017-12-05 07:04

omg this game is just awesome

kurupapuru 2017-12-05 07:05

5 stars to almost everything

rainbowjam 2017-12-05 07:06

Very nice art, I quite liked the simple style The difficulty ramps up nicely, although it did feel a little slow to get into I think it would have been better if I had seen the anime and got the references (didn't take away stars for that though, that wouldn't be fair) Overall, very nice game, I enjoyed it

fireslash 2017-12-05 07:14

Ooh, this is up my alley.

I like that you took some inspiration from Undertale's bullet hell application. One thing to keep in mind is the fairness of each attack. Specifically, in Shana's case, it's impossible to avoid the attack until you get the timing down; this is something you should avoid. The attack should either be signaled in advance, or be slow enough to be avoidable given reasonable positioning.

For a good example of attack signaling, take a look at Iji; it even has a lot of similar attacks to the ones you use.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67eLpLhxEPg

I also found the hitbox to be bit smaller than I expected. This is a common issue to contend with (hitbox size vs difficulty), which is why a lot of bullet hells use very small sprite/collision boxes by design.

Love the little flourish on the health bar.

The game seems to have ended for me when Sagiri spawned, she just sat there and followed me; no interactions seemed to advance the game.

eldogg 2017-12-05 07:14

I like that each sister's attack set is unique.

Cool pixel art of the anime characters.

The story text intertwined with the gameplay well.

I thought the flame attack looked great and loved the surprise of the giant pencil.

ponchoguy 2017-12-05 07:21

Great integration of story and gameplay - I can definately see the Undertale inspiration.

Had great fun playing, difficulty spike seemed quite sudden however.

Overall great work! :yum:

Cheers!

keilazu 2017-12-05 07:22

idk what to feel here but hey, that's a good game, here's my rating 6/5 harder than dark soul....nah jk, it's fun

casper 2017-12-05 07:23

Cool!

justinooncx 2017-12-05 07:24

This was a really cool game! At first, the patterns were pretty easy, but then you started to throw them together... Became really challenging and hard! Story was pretty funny as well, something straight out a gag manga... I love it! And your pixel art is pretty damn awesome, great work!

ricksquanchez 2017-12-05 07:31

undertale x harem anime?I love this! It gets hard but not having to restart the whole game when hp is 0 balances the game pretty well.

al19890604 2017-12-05 07:54

just like others said it is easy at the first few levels then it becomes more difficult to play, I can hardly dodge all the attack at the latter levels. Good game!

thomas-higgins 2017-12-05 07:59

awsome game just loved the feel and story telling and mechenics where fun nice work

psygnosis 2017-12-05 08:02

This game has a quiet a bit of content, a story line that ties everything together and a lot of different "bosses/sisters" with their own set of attacks. Nicely done :)

fangzhangmnm 2017-12-05 10:55

tongguan.gif I did that!

ixxios 2017-12-05 17:11

Nice game. simple and beautiful

roberto-romao 2017-12-05 17:11

Thank god my little sister don't like cola hahaha

:D good job! I just think the sword girl is too hardcore x.x it take me a while to learn her patterns! Good job on the overwall :D

fskr 2017-12-05 17:17

game definitely plays well and i like the art style. why are all girls mad, though? that i don't get. i guess i need to know the animes you are refering to :P

budgiem2 2017-12-05 17:29

Great game!

lag 2017-12-05 18:01

Nice and simple game, like how you also used anime characters in there. (I hate Umaru tho haha)

saintheiser 2017-12-05 18:18

Hah! Funny thing =) Like that here is a plot =) Reminds Undertaile sometimes..

draperdanman 2017-12-06 07:30

Great work with the difficulty curve! I felt a growing sense of challenge as the game progressed without too much frustration. Interesting choice using Umaru-chan as inspiration. The dialogue jumping in during the middle of boss attack patterns was a bit jarring considering I was focused on avoiding that incoming sword or bullets! The juice for when you take damage was great, shacking the screen + white damage on the bar + healthbar animation was really a great way to let the player know they took damage.

blubberquark 2017-12-06 09:57

Sometimes attacks are telegraphed and sometimes more rhythm-based. Is this by design? I think I skipped dialogue a couple of times because I was mashing jump...

arly 2017-12-07 06:57

This is super cute, I like the dialog and story a lot. The dialog progression did feel a bit slow, and I feel like some simple sound effects would have been really helpful. Overall really sweet though, nice application of the Undertale gameplay!

shrekshao 2017-12-07 07:04

Turns out this undertale like danmaku is a great way for story telling in a low cost approach but with lots of fun. New skill acquired √

BTW I choose Umaru. (Also prordered a PVC from GSC)

sbarrio 2017-12-08 09:57

Interesting game nonetheless. Really polished and well done. Nice job!

lucas-ferrantelli 2017-12-08 10:16

Nice game, I like graphics. Great concept, good job !

dunin 2017-12-08 10:39

Interesting idea, the combinations work well, and the difficulty curve is good. good graphics too. Good job!

goplite 2017-12-08 11:29

This game is hilarious, the dialogs, the moves, liked the hp decrease animation, good thing there was checkpoint load, but I accidentaly pressed "no" on restart level once, because of holding jump key when I died.

fangzhangmnm 2017-12-08 11:32

@goplite That was a bad news. I did do some works on preventing such mistake to happen. It seems they didn't work. :(

lunardust 2017-12-08 13:07

funny idea. it's really clever to express the character's emotion in this way. nice work!

meneer-guus 2017-12-08 13:59

Pretty fun game, like other people said it reminded me of Undertale. Too bad that there's no music in this one, but the diversity of patterns make that up. Only thing I would say is the overall speed of the game, which could be a little faster because although the learning curve of the game is done right, the buildup is pretty slow. It's also nice that the patterns are based on the character's personality!

savinvadim 2017-12-08 17:29

really fun game to play. very inovative and interesting. I like the graphics.

antti-haavikko 2017-12-08 21:18

Couldn't really get into (or even quite understand) the story. Not saying it's bad or anything, not just my anime genre of choice. It was also too short to really get into the characters. Nice idea to mix story and gameplay like this but I think the actual pacing could do some work. I kept feeling like gameplay was constantly getting interrupted by the small story blurbs and vice versa. I think it would have been better if you hadn't completely blanked the screen and halted the gameplay for the dialog stuff, instead positioning the text on top of the play area and still allowing the player to move around. I think you actually did that on few "cutscenes" but in my opinion, everything should have been like that.

The gameplay itself as a bullet hell was pretty solid. All the moves were very avoidable by themselves. Except that one with umm, pidgeons? My brain just couldn't handle that one at all. Unlike what @fireslash said, I found Shana's swing attack well telegraphed. Sure I got hit by it few times at first but then learned the breathing animation stop and attack timing. My biggest gripe was the hitbox, I would have preferred the the full danmaku treatment with a way smaller one. It's hard enough to dodge stuff on traditional bullet hells where you can fly, whole another deal in a platformer. I think the fact that it was a platformer was holding the attack design back a bit. Pretty much like half of the attack patterns were just bullet moving on the ground towards you and you jump over them. Even this more traditional bullet hell pattern needed to be toned down to be pretty much that...

Screen Shot 2017-12-08 at 23.15.32.png

Goes without saying, the game looks awesome. Obviously could have used some sounds and music.

Good job!

nax-89 2017-12-09 19:42

140+- hits. 4 dies. I like it, goes very well with the theme, and has some pixel effects realy awesome (like fire attack, and energy bar). The regulated jump it's a bit hard to control, maybe it needs some rework, just a little. Congrats!

zeu31 2017-12-10 23:47

Great game. The pixel art is very good. The gameplay is fun. Good job!

rockhoppergames 2017-12-11 16:34

Congratulations on making a full danmaku game, and some cute sprite art! Some of the attacks could really be clearer though. The dash attack and the fire-spin attack stood out to me as needing improvement. The dash attack will hit you at least once before you figure it out, and the hitbox of the fire-spin attack is unclear. Undertale got around this by using only a few colours in its danmaku sections, but maybe you could find a way to mark dangerous areas too

meanmon13 2017-12-15 16:29

This game gets pretty difficult! I died quite a bit but i kept trying and got decent at it :-) Good job!

jjjjason 2017-12-16 18:28

As someone who has two younger sisters, this game is incredibly accurate, especially the part where they grow 10 times as big and start bouncing around the screen as blades scurry under my feet.

4knights 2017-12-17 09:04

Untitled.png the art style is charming, the story is so funny and engaging, gameplay and story follow the theme, girl getting more mad. and more shot is fired at you. I like that it's getting harder and harder(party hard xD), but the last level was not that hard or maybe it was a cut-scene. overall its fun to play thank you for make that game and best of luck.

ddrkirbyisq 2017-12-17 09:16

Shakugan no Shana is a "sister-themed anime"???

This was kind of cool! I found the plot pretty underwhelming/uninspired though.

avavt 2017-12-17 16:48

The story is a bit shallow compared to the rest. And the rest is WONDERFUL!

Gameplay overall is a bit weird, don't get me wrong it's the "good" weird, but it didn't live up to its potential I think. Regardless I totally felt jealous of this MC, which is exactly the point of the game I think. Damn mofo.

This game was cool. It could really benefit from some audio!

fangzhangmnm 2017-12-18 04:44

127hit5die Played this game while listening some edm. Yeah the music will make the game great. As if I knew how to make music 😢
