| Apr 15 13:25:32 | Sokoban Summon X | ♥ 1 | I loved this! The art style was charming, and the dialogue downright hilarious. I chortled the whole way through. And something so funny about my instant experience of stepping out of my car, and, casually, immediately, flipping it over with my bare hands and destroying it. The gameplay actually had some very clever design - there is just enough room to maneuver, going off screen is 'disincentivized', but allows you to recover from mistakes that other games would force a game-voer (cornering stuff) Also, something oddly satisfying about drawing with the bleeding corpse. I only got the imp ending - but if you ever update with sped up text, I'd love to play more! (I made similar-but-skippable dialogue system for my game godot game. Lmk if you want a code snippet - I can't promise artful programming, but happy to help) Great entry! | |
| Apr 15 13:33:51 | 8m 19s | Claws and Conundrums | ♥ 5 | This game is gorgeous! So many small touches that really sell the atmosphere - the lighting, the short DOF, dragging to turn pages - love it. After some light reading (and a few wrong guesses) I was able to save the town. Thanks for the submission! |
| Apr 15 13:43:36 | 9m 45s | The Summoning of the Dark Forest | ♥ 1 | I'd love the see this game in the enclosed, darkened room of an art gallery! Reminds me of LDS dream simulator. The audio adds greatly to the experience as well. It has such a nice way of leading the player (e.g. grass paths, gaps, etc) I especially loved the wave room, the parallax room, wingdings room. Something uniquely scary about navigating the void, afraid that if you walk off, you may never be able to find your way back. Great work! |
| Apr 15 14:00:33 | 16m 57s | Colormancer | ♥ 2 | Woah!! This is awesome! I've never seen anything like this before! And props to actually introducing the player to the mechanics. The levels feel well thought out, and there are details that prove you were thinking very carefully about user-experience, especially cool given the medium (e.g.: the space behind the exit to prevent blocking). And there is just something so cool about watching the levels unfold, the inherent beauty of a complex mechanism from simple part. All of it to set you up for the wonderful endgame - lvls 7-9 = masterpieces. The smoothes puzzle game I've played in a while. Also the music fuggen BANGS! It's like commodore-phonk. I was head-boppn the whole time. Spotify? |
| Apr 15 14:08:48 | 8m 15s | Dungeon on Demand | ♥ 1 | Wow! Wait, you made the goblin, character, and audio? Those were great! Do you just have a trumpet and bells at your house? Sorry you didn't have time for more content. Thanks for submitting! |
| Apr 15 14:25:59 | 17m 11s | Accio! | ♥ 2 | Woah! What a clever mechanic! I'm really glad you let this simple sightline mechanism breathe. It really feels like a tool that other designers should adopt for their puzzle games. I had fun with each level - loved the devilish simplicity of lvl6, that one took me the most by far. Really intriguing game. And same question as @justuspan haha - thats you singing? Lovely voice! |
| Apr 15 14:32:27 | 6m 28s | Summon Iland!!! | ♥ 2 | Glad to see someone went with the 'multiplying players vs multiplying enemies'! I was too scared to haha. Love the drawing style! And cool addition to have ranged units, definitely changes up the formula. I didn't get to far, but it was cool to watch the teams duke it out. Thanks! |
| Apr 15 14:36:50 | 4m 23s | The Demon's Service | ♥ 1 | Very cute! Loved the voices, and the effects. Good art too. A quick game, but I liked pressing all the buttons. Thanks! |
| Apr 15 14:40:30 | 3m 40s | Depths of Hell | ♥ 1 | Mini-doom! Very cool - only got to lvl2 (stacked fire demons are hard!) Thanks for the entry! |
| Apr 15 14:42:38 | 2m 08s | Press V to Summon | ♥ 0 | This guy has ups! What a jump! Haha - thanks for submitting! |
| Apr 15 14:52:15 | 9m 37s | Summon | ♥ 2 | "see someone that looks like you, run away and hide" - so cool Loved the environment storytelling, and the narrative! The art on the walls especially, gorgeous. 'biologically illogical' - excellent piece of writing. I got to 'night time', but couldn't figure out the lock combo. I couldn't hear the phone call well over the music, so maybe I missed something there - but I enjoyed exploring the operating room! Thanks for submitting! |
| Apr 15 15:01:40 | 9m 25s | The Basis of All Creations | ♥ 1 | Very cool! I point-and-click boot-strap summoning game. I love the atmosphere, and seeing my little spared guys sitting in the sun! Didn't quite get the last entry, but loved sitting in the ambiance! Great entry! |
| Apr 16 17:25:38 | 26h 23m | The Magic Flute: Bee Proud of Me, Dad! | ♥ 4 | What an amazing game! I played the crap out of it, and loved every second. The heavenly music, the pleasant spin on cookie-clicking, the lighthearted atmosphere, everything. And don't get me started on the audio - soothing, satisfying, harmonious, and totally delivers on the dames desired experience of building an orchestra of simple critters. The 'could we... ask after your mother' and final drawing of dad frolicking nearly brought me to tears. Fantastic work, A+ job to everyone, loved it! |
| Apr 16 17:47:17 | 21m 39s | Hungry Portals | ♥ 3 | I loved playing with the physics! Once I understood the mechanics, it actually generated some pretty interesting gameplay! Intentionally killing off extra versions of yourself to prevent the portal from getting them, surrounding yourself in a shield of rubble, going outside the map to ladder to the top and destroy your way down, etc. Maybe for the future, see about adding some more feedback for the player: having the portal change color as it nears death, sfx, etc - and then simplify the beginning of the game so players can get used to the cool mechanics (e.g.: spawning only 1 portal on the first level). I had alot of fun! Great job! |
| Apr 16 17:50:06 | 2m 49s | Servant of Lord Doof | ♥ 1 | Love the art and sounds! And a very funny idea for 'summon'. Wish you had more time to complete it - but thanks for the entry! |
| Apr 16 18:10:16 | 20m 10s | Project Missionary: The Reckoning of Hizzokahpolis | ♥ 3 | Nice entry! I think I may not be the target audience for the writing, as much of the context flew over my head (tureblue mother? Mansion basement full of farting clowns?). I didn't quite have time to finish - but the backgrounds were all beautiful, the art was very well rendered, and the music pleasant and varied. As I said, I didn't finish and missed some of the context - but from what I understand, I think the core message was ultimately about acceptance and being supportive to others, so that is always good. One thing I should note - it seems work may have started on the game several weeks ago. Perhaps I misunderstand, but maybe the game was started a while ago, then put it away for a few weeks, picked it up again for ld#55? I think this is technically allowed by the rules, but maybe seems like it goes against the spirit of the jam. I could totally be wrong about this - folks correct me if I am. |
| Apr 16 18:37:39 | 27m 23s | Sunrise | ♥ 1 | What a uniquely wonderful experience! This game is strangely beautiful, in a totally different way to anything I've played before. It gives me some of the same heart flutter as mirrors-edge and hollow-knight, despite being (on the surface) nothing like those games. But there are so many pleasing details - the subtle beauty of a glowing san-serif timer, the ambient music that is soothing-yet-enticing, getting caught in the dark, and looking above you to use the starts to navigate, etc. The 'concentration-whispers' actually kind of make the player feel like a 'force-user' - much more so than a minimap or compass or other 'gamey' tools to solve the same puzzle. Of course, as with any jam game, there are some areas of less polish. Once, I did untotunarly get stuck in a hole and have to restart (near the vines/telescope). But for the most part, this games artistry felt well above what should be possible in such a short time span. Well done! |
| Apr 16 18:49:39 | 12m 00s | Butler Beckoned | ♥ 2 | Very fun! Shocked you were able to create so much pleasing pixel art in such a short time! Same advice as others regarding dialogue and doorways, and I was unable to solve the mystery even after a few tries, but I had fun! Thanks for the entry! |
| Apr 16 18:55:18 | 5m 39s | mouche(s)? | ♥ 0 | Very fun! The particles, the sfx - so crunchy and invigorating! I absolutely adored bouncing around this lil room and honing my book-chucking skills. Once you figure out the arc, it is a very fun and rewarding task of timing our shots (and not getting touched by another icky fly!) Really great work! Fantastic entry |
| Apr 16 19:08:56 | 13m 38s | Freezing Hell | ♥ 1 | Very cool! Effects were punchy and juice, the dash-shoot was satisfying, and the possession a interesting mechanic. I got stuck on the bridge for a different reason - if you kill the enemies, then die/respawn, there are no corpses there for you possess. But I was glad I restarted, so I could get to finish. I'm shocked this is compo! Those assets look so polished and bright, I thought for sure it was professional! Well done! |
| Apr 17 18:54:37 | 23h 45m | Mass Move Minion Magic | ♥ 4 | Lovely game! The sprites, sdx, and music were all adorable, and leanded really nicely to lightening the game. Som really innovative mechanic design on display - I especially liked the killing/resummoning mechanic being a part of solving puzzles, rather than just failing/restarting. Ingenious! Thank you! |
| Apr 17 19:03:59 | 9m 22s | Bug Life | ♥ 0 | Very cool game! Beautiful and satisficing. I wasn't able to get too far - but I really liked using the 'wasp' selected as a kind of 'sniper scope'. This game reminded me of 'Remnant' for some reason - which is a game I love. I think you may have forgot to capture the mouse, so for those of us with multiple monitors, it would just drift outside of the game window (unless maybe it was windows defender doing something?) Either way, very well made for a jam game, well done! |
| Apr 17 19:07:36 | 3m 37s | John's Visage | ♥ 2 | Very interesting game! And a shocking amount of polish too! The fitting dialogue sfx for the different characters, the font choice, the bloody text background and figures lurking at the back of the courtroom - I am shocked this is a compo game! Well done! |
| Apr 17 19:20:48 | 13m 12s | Project Summon | ♥ 1 | Oh wow, this is awesome! I am really glad to hear you are pursuing this further, I definitely think there is alot of meat on the bones! I am shocked this is a compo game - a 1st person starfighter with a unique magic system and summoning mechanic? So cool You picked the perfect symbol for the #1, so fluid, feels great to execute. To sfx are lovely, the little characters adorable, and the resource gathering is a surprisingly complex model. Unfortunately, nothing happened after I beat round 1 - I was really wanting to play more! Some tips: * I think the player should have a small cadre of spells to assist in defending (a melee blast, a fireball, whatever). Of course, you wouldn't have had time to do this in a jam - but for a later release. * Of course, I'm sure you thought of having turret summons as well * Would be cool to have utility spells, perhaps for creating things like lamp-posts, fences, roads for you minions, etc * I think the 2 unconnected dots on the green spell were confusing - I prefer what you were going with as far as single, continuous sweeping shapes for the spells Sorry, much of those suggestions may be obvious, I'm just excited to see where you go with this! BTW Spell-drawing is also something I had in my godot game! May I ask, how did you do yours? Mine ended up requiring multithreading, and per-pixel comparison on the CPU (not the best way of doing it - I thought of a dozen different approaches, but had to go with what I could code up fastest). How does yours work under the hood? |
| Apr 17 19:22:10 | 1m 22s | LD 55 - The Great "Sum"-moner! | ♥ 0 | Arg - same, unable to get past the start menu. 'exit game' works, just not 'start game' |
| Apr 17 19:23:53 | 1m 43s | Demon Keys | ♥ 1 | So cute and so fun! Fantastic job with the art and audio, so much charm! Also seconding @rpgwanderer |
| Apr 17 19:30:40 | 6m 47s | Infernal Refreshments | ♥ 1 | So cute! Love the assets. You are a very talented pixel artist, and the game exudes charm - from the flying cans, to the little thankful phantasmal demon after each level. Only had time for a few levels, as each took me a long time between checking the cans and doing out the math, but it was a very cool little puzzler with an adorable theme! |
| Apr 17 20:09:58 | 39m 18s | Eulerian Demons | ♥ 1 | Oh my god this is awesome!!! I am so glad I got to play your game - I saw your comment on mine, and love the direction you took yours. I had thought about using a 'point-to-point vector system' for mine, so I'm really glad someone ran with that idea (and such a talented game designer and artist too!) This game works so well - the dexterity element, the classic puzzle feeling of making sure you don't 'run out' of adjacent points, and the snappy, satisfying feeling of watching the shapes 'snap' into being. It can't be stated enough how well your art and style fit this game - everything from the gently dithered background, to the pleasingly sketched sticky-notes, to the unified color palette. And the demons themselves are, of course, ridiculously adorable, and immaculately rendered. I am immensely jealous that you are skilled enough to produce such high quality characters in such a short time. A++ Only one wish - I love the timer, and that you start simple with some easier combos before ramping up - but I wish I could 'start out' at the higher level. E.g., ramp up slowly with a tutorial, but then start again with a new timer, but higher level requests. Yeah, this is easily one of my favorites, I kept playing over and over just to marvel at it - spectacular work, you should be very proud. |
| Apr 17 20:30:06 | 20m 08s | 6 Kadabra Resurgam Ocus | ♥ 1 | Very cool! Loved it - once I memorized the symbols, it was quite fun! The symbols have a kind-of harmony to them: fire = triangle, which sorta looks like a flame = 3 fingers pointed out kind like flames metal = square, like a block of stone = the "rock and roll" symbols water = circle, like a droplet Surprising what cool symbols you could make with just a few shapes. I agree with others, with a faster draw speed and some more joice, this could be a truly engrossing game. Thee are already so many cool details - like the wave pattern on the drawn symbol vs the clean lines of the guide. Or the the hands having an 'idle animation'. And of course, using the keys to map to your 'real world' fingers feels immersive and cool. I actually did a similar thing for my ld#50 entry iirc Very cool game! Enjoyed it very much. |
| Apr 17 20:41:52 | 11m 46s | Cubomancer | ♥ 1 | Dropping the cubes is so satisfying! Love bouncing between making small ones to take out stragglers, then getting a large group to flatten with a massive one. A very fun game - well done! |
| Apr 17 20:45:57 | 4m 05s | A small ode | ♥ 1 | I love the visuals and ambiance! The underwater area was my favorite. I very much just enjoyed walking about and vibing to the beautiful guitar playing. Thanks for submitting! |
| Apr 17 20:51:10 | 5m 13s | Outlast | ♥ 1 | Very cool idea! I like the challenge if shape recognition during the frenzied battle. Cool to be able to 'swap into' a shape you just killed, allowing yourself to dominate in this new shape. Also received the same error I believe: ``` ___________________________________________ ############################################################################################ ERROR in action number 1 of Draw Event for object o_Controller: Variable <unknown_object>.y(1, -2147483648) cannot be resolved. at gml_Object_o_Controller_Draw_0 ############################################################################################ gml_Object_o_Controller_Draw_0 (line -1) ``` Cool entry! |
| Apr 17 21:16:02 | 24m 52s | First Summon | ♥ 1 | Loved it! The art is amazing, the writing is adorable, and it is such a cute and fun concept. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the 3rd, seems there was some [kind of snapping issue](https://drive.google.com/file/d/18NWKnkTwZVNoZ-UU2RKAUmnxrMjGHABO/view?usp=drive_link)? But I had a lovely time with it nonetheless, and am flabbergasted by high quality of a product you were able to produce so quickly! Branching dialogue, dynamic layouts, extra items to add to the challenge and flesh out the world - fantastic job! |
| Apr 19 18:37:59 | 45h 21m | Summoner's Basement | ♥ 1 | Beautiful game! And I love the voxel models! The wood texture is very pretty with the soft lighting. With my carpal tunnel wrist, I was not quite able to do the clicking minigame, but had fun nonetheless. Thanks! |
| Apr 22 14:07:20 | 67h 29m | Hell's Company | ♥ 1 | Very hectic and fun! I burst out laughing at the boss running at me the first time it happened - so fun! Fits the theme very well, and I loved the little details, like the bloody/scorched footprints and the cool silhouettes of the monsters we were to summon. Great entry! |
| Apr 22 14:09:10 | 1m 50s | Underlings | ♥ 1 | Very fun! Love the juice and the polish on show here. I wasn't able to make it too far - but I squealed in excitement when I unlocked the summons and was finally able to tackle the invaders head on! |
| Apr 28 03:24:36 | 133h 15m | Summoning Circle Specialist | ♥ 0 | I loved this one!! I flailed for a bit, trying to absorb everything, but I kept at it, because I knew there was an awesome game to be learned - and I was so right! What a beautifully simple set of rules and objectives that synthesize to such a complex and engaging experience. It makes me so happy to see a magic system that abides by an internal consistency, allowing you to summon the same demon with countless different symbols - but ultimately the demon's summoning sign _will_ have a certain look, by nature of its objectives. Of course, I don't need to explain it here - that's the whole point of the game - but I found it deeply satisfying to experience "discovering the science behind the magic" when drawing the symbols, rather than just "copying what the developer drew" (like in my game). Allows you to form your own heuristics and intuition about how the magic works - like a real wizard! I would love to see a similar system incorporated into a larger game some day - RPG devs take note! I will admit - the portrait on the top left threw me, and it took me embarrassingly long to figure out hovering over the requirements - but even just fussing about was such a satisfying experience with the visuals and audio cues - so well polished. Does not feel possible for a jam game, this level of depth and refinement. Yeah, I could gush about this game forever. You should all be proud --- wait --- just checked, THIS IS A COMPO GAME? Floored, absolutely floored. And jealous of your mastery. Not to mention your own engine. Flabbergasted. Gobsmacked. Amazing job!! |
| Apr 29 00:11:41 | 20h 47m | Summoner Chess | ♥ 1 | Awesome and fun! Very satisfying to build a team synergy, and to learn the different classes and their abilities. I like how the undead/fairy/angel meshes with the support categories - felt well thought out and allows for solid, foreword thinking strategy making (which is, as many of us know, shockingly hard when designing a jam game). Thank you for the QOL - adding the speed-up ability, and allowing deleting of placed troops, etc - felt very polished. THe audio chirps were cute and fitting, and the spritework surprisingly well done for a compo. A really solid, all-around excellent entry. Great work! Loved that you were able to fit the eldarfuthark in this game as well - I remember it fondly from a previous jam! |
| Apr 29 00:20:01 | 8m 20s | 🐑 S.H.E.E.P - Sheep Hell Emissaries, Eradicate Purity 🐑 | ♥ 2 | Very fun and cute! Absolutely adored the art style - and this genre matches the jam theme to a T. Very solid entry - great work! |
| May 5 14:57:42 | 158h 37m | Would you still love me if I was a worm ❤️🪱? | ♥ 2 | So charming, and an absolute blast! |
| May 5 15:11:20 | 13m 38s | STUPID LEGS | ♥ 1 | Adorable! Absolutely loved it. Well done! |
