| Oct 5 16:49:32 | In The Loop | ♥ 1 | I love it! Not an easy game, but not frustrating either. The idea is so simple (and well fitting) that it's innovative for that sole reason. I especially liked the looping sound and the camera zooms. The game feels very polished overall. The one thing I found a little confusing is the inconsistent bounciness of the walls. It makes it less easy to plan a route -- I probably made things more difficult for myself than they had to be because I made the wrong assumptions. However, the level design makes up for that, since actually hitting a wall usually results in you progressing to the next circle. | |
| Oct 5 17:11:02 | 21m 30s | 360 | ♥ 1 | Awesome, feels and looks nice and crisp. The music is great too. I think I'm going to come back to this one, it's weirdly enthralling |
| Oct 5 17:44:35 | 33m 33s | Escape from Arachnea! | ♥ 0 | I like it :) It's fun to play and individual runs don't go on for too long, perfect for a jam. The fact that health is represented by the glowing net in the background is really cool. It does does a better job at conveying urgency than any health bar ever could. And the backing track, voice announcements and leaderboard are also pretty neat 👍 The weapons appear to be surprisingly well balanced, which is really impressive. None of them felt underpowered compared to the others. The enemies also compliment each other nicely. The small green ones regularly force you to switch your focus over to them from whatever you were firing at. I feel like there are some more opportunities for juice, e.g. screenshake, more sounds, maybe some kickback in the direction you fire, things like that. You probably don't have to worry about that too much, though, there is already plenty going on :) |
| Oct 5 18:02:05 | 17m 30s | Lux | ♥ 2 | Definitely fits the theme well! The game is surprisingly difficult for its simplicity. My highest score was 25, though I think I missed it because I couldn't move the mirror far enough. |
| Oct 5 18:57:35 | 55m 30s | Labyrinth Looper | ♥ 1 | "An infinitely large dungeon that takes up only one screen." What an amazing idea, and the execution definitely does it justice. This is honestly the kind of idea I could see becoming a fully fledged game. The art is nice as well. The light effect is very pleasing to look at and I like the coin counter, it reminds me of the satchel in *Kingdom: New Lands*. I like the way ghosts and keys interact: Since you need a key to exit the current corner of the labyrinth (maybe a coincidence?), only carrying a shield isn't a viable strategy. This forces you to engage with the ghosts. Although leading them away can get a little tedious, the subsequent chase and frantic search for a new shield is a welcome change of pace. I didn't really find a use for the torch, however. I got a pretty sizeable stash on my last attempt :) Screenshot 2020-10-05 at 20.18.13.png All in all, great take on this theme! |
| Oct 5 21:05:48 | 2h 08m | LO2OP | ♥ 2 | Nice entry! The aesthetic and music is what makes this game, it feels very medical. It's a little frustrating to tell where you are needed because the UI is a little obtuse. Other than that, I enjoyed it |
| Oct 5 21:47:38 | 41m 50s | Curse of the Time Stone | ♥ 1 | Interesting idea, it definitely has potential :) I'd like to see what this could be if you polish this a little more and add more levels for a post-jam version. The tutorial was well done, I like that you explain what's happening only after you looped the first time. I like level 5 the best -- I think it showcases the loop mechanic very well. |
| Oct 5 22:09:16 | 21m 38s | Around | ♥ 1 | The movement felt surprisingly nice. I think it's pretty neat that the game unexpectedly became a puzzler when the enemies showed up |
| Oct 5 22:20:05 | 10m 49s | Cyclic | ♥ 1 | Amazing music and atmosphere :) This entry shows that jam games don't have to revolve around exciting, never-before-seen mechanics. A game can be just as good if it succeeds at inducing a certain vibe or emotion. And this one definitely does! |
| Oct 5 22:33:46 | 13m 41s | Journeys to the Spire | ♥ 1 | I am not entirely sure what's going on, but everything I think I understand looks pretty interesting. I would like to see the full lore behind this game ;) |
| Oct 5 22:43:05 | 9m 19s | ludum factorum | ♥ 3 | This made me laugh :) also, damn, that's some nice looking art! The hands off approach works well, I think, you did a good job with making the mini games very clear and self explanatory. |
| Oct 6 14:30:59 | 15h 47m | Soulbound | ♥ 0 | The loop mechanic is really interesting and innovative! Fits the theme perfectly. I liked that you are free to explore the world. The art is really cute as well and the story is surprisingly good for such a small game. I do have admit that I didn't really know what I was supposed to do at times and that I had no idea how I was supposed to arrive at some of the puzzle solutions. I'm glad you provided the walkthrough for that. Despite that, great entry overall! |
| Oct 6 15:22:21 | 51m 22s | Oscillator Panic | ♥ 1 | Great idea! A really unique and fitting take on the theme. I've never been good at predicting Conway's Game of Life, so I resorted to trial and error sometimes. But it was still really satisfying to find the solution! I think the orbs are an interesting mechanic, they remind me of *Baba is You* in a way. You should definitely explore what can be done with them if you decide to make more levels. |
| Oct 6 15:32:02 | 9m 41s | Hoop Hopper | ♥ 1 | Nice game! The graphics do exactly what they are supposed to and do it well, which is no small feat. The sounds and screenshake add some nice juice. Speeding through the level is really fun, especially in the larger ones were the paths can easily change while you're on them. I think it's missing an element that forces you out of safe hoops, though, otherwise you can just wait until you spot safe path. Great entry! |
| Oct 6 15:47:27 | 15m 25s | Idol | ♥ 1 | I like it! The gameplay reminds me a little of *The Silent Age* :) Especially the transitions and text feel really polished. This could totally become a full game with a few more levels. Also, that's a *dark* ending, bold stuff :D |
| Oct 6 16:08:14 | 20m 47s | Groovy B and the Great Cownundrum | ♥ 2 | Pretty much every line made me laugh :D |
| Oct 6 17:28:52 | 1h 20m | Peck-It! | ♥ 2 | The chicken bawks are a nice touch :) Honestly, I don't think the insect meter in the corner is even necessary, the background getting redder is enough of a health indicator. I found the game rather difficult but not frustrating. That's especially great for a jam game because it keeps each run short. I really like this entry! |
| Oct 6 17:51:40 | 22m 48s | Escape the Loop | ♥ 1 | I actually really like this! It's short and a little rough around the edges, but all the important elements that make this game unique are there. And sliding feels really good, although there is some skill to it. I played through it multiple times because I liked the sliding so much :) |
| Oct 6 19:14:23 | 1h 22m | Eat your cereals | ♥ 1 | Ah, I too have starved to death after loosing three of my 15 cheerios. Very spooky I like 👍 |
| Oct 7 16:35:45 | 21h 21m | TimeSplitters 4 | ♥ 4 | It's really impressive to see such a complex puzzle mechanic in a jam game! Though the initial difficulty curve is a little wonky, the later levels that really leverage time breaking are really interesting. Great job! |
| Oct 7 17:05:52 | 30m 07s | Golden Ratio | ♥ 1 | I can't say that I *entirely* understand what's going on here, but it definitely looks cool. The fact that the game is happening in multiple places at once in different scales is really trippy. And that music is dope 👌 |
| Oct 7 17:20:27 | 14m 35s | That NPC | ♥ 1 | You won me over with the dialog :) surprisingly politically charged, I like it |
| Oct 7 17:36:08 | 15m 41s | Active Cell | ♥ 2 | Really nice puzzler! It's impressive to see how many levels you managed to pack into this game in such a short time. The explanations look surprisingly cute in my opinion :) |
| Oct 8 12:17:05 | 18h 40m | AFTERIMAGE | ♥ 1 | This is an awesome idea! I think this could be a great full game, although I'm not entirely sure how it would scale to a large player base. That would be an interesting game design problem to solve! |
| Oct 8 12:28:02 | 10m 57s | Over | ♥ 1 | I really like this game! It feels very unusual, both in its trippy art and unique player movement. I was a little skeptical at first regarding the latter, but it grew on me since it makes for an interesting twist on the endless runner formula. Well done! |
| Oct 8 12:40:49 | 12m 47s | The Lone Starmen | ♥ 1 | This is absolutely beautiful, in art as well as sound and mood. It's quiet, almost somber, offering a moment of reflection -- a stark contrast to most of the other jam games. I also appreciate how the introduction elegantly hints at deeper lore, some I would like to learn more about. Great entry! |
| Oct 8 15:22:27 | 2h 41m | LoopIn | ♥ 3 | I really enjoyed this game! Also fits the theme well. The early levels are a good introduction to the mechanic so the later ones can be really interesting to play. I'd suggest adding some more details to the rings to make it easier to perceive their direction and velocity. I could imagine that this concept could also work well with an infinite level, if you want to look into that. Great entry! |
| Oct 8 16:00:07 | 37m 40s | ...And again, dont steal from dead pharaons | ♥ 0 | I wasn't sure if I wanted to run into the first sphere 7000 times but then I discovered that you get more spirit from the other ones. Controls are a little floaty but the crouch animation looks a pretty funny :) This game is like *Cookie Clicker* but with platforming! |
| Oct 8 16:22:15 | 22m 08s | One Minute Army | ♥ 0 | Well executed, I like visual effect of the time loop |
| Oct 8 17:12:59 | 50m 44s | This Will Be My Cycle | ♥ 0 | There is something very satisfying about building your own level. It adds another layer of strategy on top of the platforming and provides replayability -- reminds me of *Ultimate Chicken Horse* in that sense. The melee attack also feels very nice to use. The controls are a little floaty for the precision required, though. Liked it overall! |
| Oct 9 13:12:05 | 19h 59m | Stunt Bike 0 | ♥ 1 | I like this, it almost feels a little like *Line Rider*, the way you have to construct the track to deliver the bike to the goal. This could totally work as a full game with more levels. Getting that speed feels very satisfying! I do think that it would be better if the boosts and ramp didn't reset after every attempt because that makes it harder to tweak your setup. Otherwise good job, especially for a first jam! |
| Oct 9 13:42:28 | 30m 23s | Hell Glider | ♥ 2 | I am a huge fan of grappling hooks in games, and man, this is one of the most satisfying ones I have played so far. It's hefty, fast, yet easy to use. Not to mention the beautiful animation. Both the buttons and the crank wheels complement the mechanic perfectly. It shows that you cared about the little details -- things like the camera tilting when you move quickly. I don't know if that's the case, but it feels like you added a little auto-aim to make the buttons easier to hit, which I like if that's the case. The tutorial levels do their job very well too. The amount of levels you created is impressive, especially considering how well designed they are. They provide the perfect backdrop for experimenting with the grappling mechanic while not being too easy. Exactly the right challenge for a jam. For some suggestions: I would show more of the world, it feels like the camera is zoomed in a little too far when you move at high speeds. Also the ground movement and double jump/glide feel a little finicky. Luckily, that isn't too huge an issue since you largely use the grappling hook anyway. I would also consider adding more air control for spike-heavy areas. Overall one of my favorite entries I've played so far! |
| Oct 9 13:57:42 | 15m 14s | Time Loop | ♥ 0 | Nice game! The art is abstract but conveys what it needs to very well and looks good while doing it. One thing I didn't quite understand why I should move at all, since the ring is what seems to get damaged, not me. Gets very difficult very quickly, which I don't think is a bad thing. I would like to see what this becomes with a little more polish, like some screenshake here and there and more refined mechanics. Great job for a first game, especially on the graphics! |
| Oct 9 14:16:12 | 18m 30s | Enigma Cubes | ♥ 1 | The puzzles in this game are really clever, great job! Both the ones with a single and two cubes, although I preferred the latter. The art has an almost diorama-like quality to it. Great job! |
| Oct 9 14:28:23 | 12m 11s | Portaloop | ♥ 0 | Nice, I enjoyed this! The art is very clean and surrounding the enemies to make them pop feels pretty satisfying. Your relative size almost makes you feel like the big protector of the tiny portals :) I like that the snake moves quite fast, but the slight delay on rotation makes it a little frustrating to control at times. I don't think I ever died to an enemy because I always ran into a wall. I also think that letting an enemy enter a portal isn't punished enough. Apart from that, great entry! |
| Oct 9 17:40:14 | 3h 11m | Save The Prince | ♥ 3 | Good job on creating such a complex system in such a short time! It's understandable that you didn't quite finish. The art is lovely, some of the best I've seen so far. Though the game relies pretty heavily on RNG, the movement mechanics offset a lot of it. And defeating the boss of each day is very satisfying by virtue of being damn difficult. My main gripe is with the controls: They're still confusing, even with your guide. I honestly think that mouse support would have worked better here -- or at least some button prompts. The game is still playable though, I got used to it after a while. In a similar vein, I didn't quite get why I had to rearrange my units all the time until I've read about your actual plans for combat. Given that background, I think that can be forgiven, and now I would really like to see your vision fully realized. I feel like this is the kind of game you can really dive into to try to understand and master its mechanics. It would be awesome if you kept developing it! |
| Oct 10 13:42:24 | 20h 02m | Stuck in the Clock | ♥ 1 | I love the minimalist art style. Weirdly enough, the game feels very trippy to play, with the wobble effect and the unusual movement. I didn't quite get how the gears worked, but luckily that didn't prevent me from completing the game. Overall this is quite relaxing, something to zone out to, but I agree with the others that a little more challenge would be nice. |
| Oct 10 13:56:56 | 14m 32s | Runaway Railcar | ♥ 5 | Fun little game! Great twist on the rhythm game formula. You executed the low poly art-style very well. The timing allows for enough inaccuracy so it doesn't get frustrating, especially in the later levels -- this isn't easy to achieve (I struggle with it). The difficulty curve is well designed as well. |
| Oct 10 14:06:12 | 9m 16s | Circle Golf | ♥ 1 | Fun little game! Very impressive for 12 hours. It's essentially a platformer, but without a jumping, which I think is very clever. I found it a little frustrating that bouncing against the ceiling could kill your momentum because air and ground controls would be inverted. I would love to see more levels |
| Oct 10 14:21:12 | 15m 00s | Shlooper | ♥ 1 | Really fun movement mechanics, and everything is just so satisfying to use. Great job on the juice! I recognize that the level is supposed to be the "stuck in a loop" part, and that does fit the theme well, but it does get a little samey after a while. At least some visual difference would have been nice. I don't think that that's a huge problem, though. I like you only start the timer after the first portal, which allows the player to learn about the controls without pressure. |
| Oct 10 14:29:58 | 8m 46s | Bear in the Loop | ♥ 1 | Clever idea, I would like to see this developed further. I think you could do some really interesting things with this. Resetting the entire game after one failure is a little harsh, but the levels are relatively short and not too hard so that's not too big an issue |
| Oct 11 19:19:16 | 28h 49m | Ace of Rope | ♥ 1 | I saw one of your dev updates and thought your game looked interesting, but I didn't think that I would find it again. I'm glad I did! This game is really impressive! It feels like a complete experience, with a surprising amount of content and polish. I mean, it has not only one but two boss fights! I dig the art style, which the music complements perfectly. The bits of writing are funny and make the world feel more alive. And your take on the theme is very clever! I have to admit that I struggled to figure out that you can fly with the paddle. I thought that it was a sword at first because it looks and behaves that way if you only click instead of hold. It also feels like the bendiness and reach of the rope could have been utilized more deeply. Some parts of the game, such as collecting far away coins and firing in cover hint at what's possible. However, since the mechanic already changes the way you aim and shoot in an interesting way, I don't think that that is a huge issue. Maybe something for future releases? I can totally see this as a full game with some more polish. One of my favorites this jam! |
| Oct 11 20:50:24 | 1h 31m | Hyperloop | ♥ 4 | Great entry! This game is just oozing with atmosphere. It's obvious that you guys put a lot of effort into it. I don't think I have ever heard singing in a jam game before :D Seriously, this game is very polished and it shows. You also did a great job with building tension. The sounds in the tunnels and the lights going out set the stage perfectly for the first enemy encounter. But the dialogue at the start is just as important. It is both effective as an introduction to the world and at creating a sense of unease in an otherwise cheery beginning. I like that the flashlight beam is so narrow, it adds a lot to the creepiness. I don't think the game would work as well if it wasn't. However, this also makes it pretty difficult for me to see if I hit or killed an enemy. The hit sound is also a little too subtle for me, I only noticed it on my second playthrough. Some more indication would be helpful, perhaps by adding bullet trails or increasing the volume of the sound effect. I also appreciate that the player can't walk infinitely far away from the train ;) Again, I really like this entry. I want more of it! |
| Oct 11 21:32:15 | 41m 51s | Wizard Recurse | ♥ 1 | One of the most polished games I have played this jam! The central mechanic is simple, but very well executed. I like that it is never explicitly explained, only through level design. I love how charming this game is, thanks to the beautiful art, music, and story. I did not expect this kind of gut punch in the end :D The attention to detail is also amazing. From the spinning cursor to the slight echo during the monologue. Also, those particles are gorgeous! |
| Oct 11 21:54:22 | 22m 07s | Hammy the Hamster | ♥ 2 | So, the platforming feels very floaty, as if that hamster is on the moon or something. You managed to built a pretty good game around that, however! There are some interesting platforming puzzles in here. I also like that you did not include a jump, that forces the player to use the existing platforms to the fullest. I found it a little frustrating that you can't really know where the rock is without falling all the way down. And at that point you usually need to reset because the key is stuck in the hay. Some indication for the rock location would be helpful, like you have in the last level with the rightmost tube. Also, cute art! |
| Oct 11 22:15:09 | 20m 47s | Countercl0ckwise | ♥ 1 | Fun little game, quite challenging. I love how crunchy the graphics look! |
| Oct 12 14:20:29 | 16h 05m | Orbital Rescue | ♥ 1 | Nice entry! The gameplay feels very smooth, good job on that. And I like that you have to land before moving on to the next level. That always feels really satisfying, especially if you manage it without spending any extra fuel. I think showing the path the ship will take would be a worthwhile addition, as orbital mechanics and fuel management are already enough of a challenge. That would allow you to add even more difficult levels! |
| Oct 12 14:54:46 | 34m 17s | Karma Farmer | ♥ 2 | Cute little game. I do feel like I either did something wrong or it's a little too long for the amount of content it has. Dragging the monks around is also a little finicky at times. That said, the art and music create a very relaxing mood, which I really like. There's something nice about taking care of your monks until they reach Nirvana. |
| Oct 12 15:13:37 | 18m 51s | Fall from Grace | ♥ 2 | Looks like there are a few games this jam that revolve around repeating your past actions. However, this is the first of I've seen that plays your actions in *reverse*, which is very interesting. The first few levels are a little slow to start, but the later ones do the mechanic justice. The rotating hourglass is a unique way of showing what you did last loop. I'm sure that this is only the tip of the iceberg of possible puzzles, so it would be awesome if you kept developing this. |
| Oct 12 15:24:59 | 11m 22s | GET OFF MAH TRACK! The Game | ♥ 0 | Simple little game. I liked the power-ups. The difficulty curve is nice as well, although it ramps up very quickly after a while -- but I think you did a better job than I did with my entry :D I would recommend either making the loop smaller relative to the window or using a square aspect ratio so the enemies spawning at the top and bottom aren't so much more difficult. Screenshot 2020-10-12 at 17.18.59.png |
| Oct 12 15:41:21 | 16m 22s | Foolish Me | ♥ 1 | The controls are a little too difficult for me, but the magnet mechanic is very satisfying to use. I would love to see a more polished version of this game! |
| Oct 13 15:52:07 | 24h 10m | Tempus Locus | ♥ 2 | I love this take on the record/playback mechanic! The fact that the shot determines both location and duration of the recording feels very elegant. The early levels explain the mechanic very well and the later ones pose really clever puzzles. The game is incredibly polished overall. The story is simple, but quite effective and fits the dreamy vibe of the backing track. One of my favorite entries! |
| Oct 13 16:05:42 | 13m 35s | Looped Chaos | ♥ 1 | I like the music, it reminds of *Chip's Challenge* for some reason :) The gameplay is simple but works very well. I think if the cursor didn't move so fast you could reduce the difficulty spike around 24. |
| Oct 13 16:21:05 | 15m 23s | Shatter | ♥ 1 | Love the concept! I could really see this as a mobile game because of the simple controls. It might be interesting to look into generating levels if you choose to develop this further, might be a good challenge |
| Oct 14 19:21:42 | 27h 00m | Time Surge 2: Clean Up Time | ♥ 2 | Some nice puzzles with some trippy music to go along! It's an interesting take on the ordinary block pushing mechanic, since now you have to think about how to prepare the stage for the next loop. I like the fact that you start in the same place every loop. It shows your progress very clearly and provides satisfying payoff when you can finally solve the puzzle you were confronted with the entire game. Having to walk back to the puzzles, even the far away ones, got a little tedious. Some kind of checkpoint mechanic, so that time doesn't rewind all the way, could alleviate this and maybe even allow new kinds of puzzles. I solved "Deeper Storage" by bringing some ChronoCore fluid from another part of the ship. If that's the intended solution, I like that you require that kind of thinking :) although I wonder which of the other puzzles could be broken using that method. |
| Oct 14 19:44:25 | 22m 43s | Rocket Factory | ♥ 0 | Fun game! Sound, music, and art all work really well together. I found that the currently highlighted item wasn't always the one that got picked, which was a little frustrating. Not that big of a problem you play patiently, which this game seems to be about anyway: aways keeping your cool. |
| Oct 14 20:05:23 | 20m 58s | The Cold Loop | ♥ 2 | The art and music makes you think that this is a children's game, the fact that you literally *get shot* not so much ;) Honestly, the game has this weird but wonderful charm to it that I'm not sure I could replicate. And I like it! Luckily I found the gun pretty quickly, I could imagine that searching for it could get a little tedious otherwise |
| Oct 15 19:01:27 | 22h 56m | Ball vs Rope: Escape from Hell | ♥ 2 | Fun little game, quite satisfying to play. Combos are not so difficult that you hardly ever get them, but difficult enough that it feels really good if you do. You also did a good job at creating an oppressive "hell" atmosphere through the soundscape. I found it a little frustrating that I had to click the ball to aim -- perhaps this is intentional to increase the difficulty, but I often felt like I lost because I just couldn't catch the ball. Unique and fun entry overall! |
| Oct 15 23:16:27 | 4h 15m | Unloop | ♥ 1 | Simple but fun game. Platforming feels tight, though some sequences required incredible precision. It's impressive that you managed to put three bosses in there! I also like that the exit is designated by the spotlight, that makes it easy to see where it is, even in the larger, open levels. A little frustration I had was at the beginning of the levels; hazards were placed too close to the player such that I died a couple of times before I realized what was going on. |
| Oct 15 23:30:03 | 13m 36s | Unknown Factory | ♥ 0 | Very innovative entry! The frantic shuffling is really fun and is very engaging. One second you're happy with the path you've planned and the next you scramble to fix everything after the RNG threw a wrench in there. It gets very difficult very quickly though and every now and then the tiles that were spawned put you in an unsolveable situation. I'd like to see more of this! |
