Score 43

Was way more challenging than I thought and it really got me engaged. They sometimes went mad without reason I think so that might be a bug?

Thank you for the game

pretty interesting game. liked your take on the theme!

dkdwrek 2020-10-05 16:21

Fun game, but quite challenging! I was able to score 36. Well done!

mrschlag2 2020-10-05 18:58

Ok ! nice game ! Very satisfying to trap enemies in the curve. Thanks for this game

thedarkmagi 2020-10-05 19:05

This was a lot of fun and very rewarding getting just 1 point. Although I suck at this game and couldn't get more than 3 points

noahw 2020-10-05 19:21

Trapping enemies in a loop is super satisfying, and so is the little roll they do when moving along your trail. Dying when you touch the walls can be frustrating--it would've been nice if the game had a contrasting border. Overall though, really neat idea and incredibly fun to play!

patetfisk 2020-10-05 19:35

Really simple but really cool! That goes for the gameplay, visuals and sound!

ribout-horace 2020-10-05 20:01

Eh ! A cool game ! I love the colorfullness of the game (and the tail) and the simple mechanics ! Work well ! I hope the game could be "juicier" but it's already a lot for so little time ! Really good work ! (and love the mecanic of the angry virus who runing toward you) If I had one "true" complaint, it's how your own tail didn't kill you, despite what I think because of game like snake (while the wall kill)

rngames 2020-10-05 23:57

✔️Amazing use of the theme, really well done to create an interesting game mechanic.

✔️The game is intuitive and simple to understand letting me start to play straight away.

✔️Art style is simple and effective.

➖The controls feel a bit slippery.

100th-coin 2020-10-06 18:18

Woah this is cool! I really enjoyed the faces on the enemies, ha! Great work.

zebrainflames 2020-10-06 18:24

Liked the theme interpretation, visuals and gameplay idea :)

The controls felt a bit unresponsive though.

fabula-rasa 2020-10-06 21:31

It's a fun idea and nice take on the theme. But touch controls, at least on my phone, don't work well at all. Sometimes the snake responds as you would exoect but most of the time it seems to just move as it wants to, in some random.ways instead of the ways you ordered it to move. That makes at least the Android version of the game sadly unplayable

allas 2020-10-07 21:49

@rngames @zebrainflames Yes, I also noticed the controls feel a bit unresponsive. I made the mistake and used the predefined Unity Horizontal input axis as a turning coefficient as is, which takes a while to build and decay. I noticed it after I came back from trying the mobile version, for which the turning control used a different input as a source, so it behaved much better as a result. I would fix it, but It's not really a game breaking bug, so I'd consider it to be against the spirit of the compo to change it during the voting period :)

@fabula-rasa the android controls work the way that the right half of the screen serves as the right button and the left side is the left button, didn't they work like that for you?

fabula-rasa 2020-10-07 22:04

@allas Ooooooooh! I didn't know that and the game doesn't tell you anything about controls. I sort of assumed that you trace the path of the snake with your finger. Probably because I played another LD game just before that was controlled like that. You see, I don't play android games like at all, so I am not versed in their control schemes . I just decided I can play some LD games in a tub and that's how I ended up embarrassing myself here.

I just now tried the game again and the controls work exactly as you said. No trouble at all!

neragoth 2020-10-08 18:20

Clever idea! Pretty graphics aswell

ghuyajil 2020-10-08 20:21

Nice variation snake + loop theme, quite challenging indeed! (I suck at it haha)

jon-nova 2020-10-09 13:23

Nice game! would love to read a post mortem. very challeging and creative

squimmy 2020-10-09 14:16

This is a really neat idea for a game and ties in well to the theme.

You seem to already be aware of the sluggish controls, but aside from that, I think the challenge drops-off quite quickly when you get the hang of it, and either ramping-up the difficulty curve or giving the player an incentive to take risks (e.g. a bonus for trapping multiple enemies at once) might help keep the game entertaining for longer.

thewustache 2020-10-09 14:28

Nice, I enjoyed this! The art is very clean and surrounding the enemies to make them pop feels pretty satisfying. Your relative size almost makes you feel like the big protector of the tiny portals :)

I like that the snake moves quite fast, but the slight delay on rotation makes it a little frustrating to control at times. I don't think I ever died to an enemy because I always ran into a wall. I also think that letting an enemy enter a portal isn't punished enough. Apart from that, great entry!

bentglasstube 2020-10-09 22:11

This was a really simple but enjoyable game. The controls were smooth and the gameplay was fun and quick to pick up while still being engaging. Thanks for making and sharing!
