LD27 — 10 Seconds

LudumLife by midgard 2013-08-26T16:35:00

Very clever. I quite enjoyed it. If I had any constructive criticism it would be that the chatlog in the beginning and the how-to screens at the beginning of each event should have gone away with a click and not just automatically advanced (some of us are slower readers than others). Funny game nevertheless!

Seconds of Light by kristof 2013-08-26T16:23:00

I love these style of games! Crazily enough, the game I made is very similar, with the idea of a dungeon-crawler-esque game where torches are used to light the darkness... crazy! Anyway, I enjoyed it, but I would have liked it better if it was longer or if there were some replay value... perhaps by having the items/enemies placed in randoms spots in levels if completely randomly generated dungeon rooms were too hard to achieve.

In any case, great work!

My Tenth Adventure by DiscoFish 2013-08-26T16:13:00

It was rather confusing to play. Some more explanation in the beginning would have been helpful. This game has very high production values for being made in only 48 hours though, so kudos for that!

Hall of Flame by ModestArcade 2013-08-26T16:16:00

Awww, way too short! I loved what was there though, Good job!

The Saddest Landscape by BradleySmith 2013-08-27T04:44:00

Waaay too short... the theme also isn't very heavily applied to this game. Which would be okay if there was more to do with it... too bad. What was there seemed cool.

10 Seconds to Save the World by HacksawUnit 2013-08-26T20:43:00

You know what? I actually dig the tiny screen. Maybe I'm weird. But it gave the game a very different feel graphically. and I liked that. Gameplay was solid, but much too short - there wasn't a lot there, but what was there worked. I also liked the "music" being a timer. Good job!

Mission Mars by gre 2013-08-26T20:54:00

I liked it, but the platforming controls were a little finicky for my tastes. Notably the jumping and at the tops of ladders. The amount of time the character would spend in the air seemed to randomly differ with no real indication as to why. Nice use of the 10 second theme, though.

Nelumbo by Darklotus 2013-08-27T05:12:00

game crashed after I died the second time. :/

The Count of Ten by Andrewves 2013-08-26T16:28:00

Cute little game. I like it!

Dan Dynamite by loxo 2013-08-26T16:38:00

Overall a good idea... too bad you weren't able to finish it even a little more! Looking at what you did submit I can say the character is a little hard to control; the jump in particular feels rather wonky. Good effort though!

Dungeon Crawling Simulator 2013 by MrBlade 2013-08-27T05:00:00

The game does seem a but buggy, but I did enjoy it. Always happy to see new games of this style in this day and age. :)

Deja Vu by d__adee 2013-08-26T16:07:00

Cool game! Haven't completed it so far. I really like the graphics though.

Blinking by Anoarith 2013-08-26T16:29:00

Clicking on web gives me a "Page Cannot Be Found Error." oops!

Chrono Blood Ninja by theholychicken 2013-08-27T08:47:00

Wow! The controls and the few graphics that are present are really amazing! If you continue to develop this into something more after the Ludum Dare is over you'll have a crazy fun game on your hands. As others said, a restart button would be nice... and I'd love to see more types of enemies or more room configurations that let you really make use of the awesome ninja controls you've programmed in, like the wall climbing!

Caves of Caladria by Joxno 2013-08-26T15:54:00

Interesting game! I would have liked to have seen a different control scheme. The thing that made that seemed to annoy me the most while playing as the screen not really following the character; it would often lag behind while falling down and sometimes take a while to "find" the character at the start. I really think that, especially for a game like this, a fixed view that strictly follows the character would be a better choice. That said, I am a huge fan of randomly generated games and I know how hard they can be to make work properly; so congrats on getting such a solid foundation for that done in such a short time span!

Caves of Caladria by Joxno 2013-08-26T15:57:00

Hey, this was my first Ludum Dare and I made a (somewhat) randomly generated game too! You should check mine out and let me know what you think. I know first hand how hard making a randomly generated game can be, so congrats on taking that challenge on for your First Ludum Dare!

10 Second Archery by Bmanrules 2013-08-26T21:29:00

I liked it, but I too felt the aim was off. It would be much more enjoyable if it shot from the center of the screen, I think. I still like it though - the water effects were cool! More levels couldn't have hurt either. :P

Forward Motion by Feysoura 2013-08-26T21:26:00

Hey, another Game Maker programmer! What's up? I like your game, but I repeatedly got stuck in the ceiling by the gravity flippers. I also have an issue with the controls: With a fast paced game like this, why does pressing a button when you get to the finish make any sense? Let alone a button that is RIGHT NEXT to the button that restarts the level... if I were you I would have made touching the green box at the end automatically move to the next level, and moved the restart button a little further away... I like the backspace key for mine myself. Other than tat, I did enjoy showering your levels with pieces of my body! Great success!

Legend of Epikouros by Erhune 2013-08-26T01:05:00

Very interesting concept. I'm digging the music as well!

LEGACY by DanHayesGamer 2013-08-27T04:53:00

Very nice game! It looks and sounds amazing. Some of the best art and audio I've seen for this competition yet!

10 Seconds In Hell by tylorlilley 2013-08-26T16:47:00

There is a way to skip the intro. It is listed with th rest of the controls at the end of the intro. Across from backspace is "restart game" and "skip intro" as these are the two functions backspace serves.

Thanks for playing! And yes, death will happen a lot... it is possible (and very rewarding) to win however! :)

10 Seconds In Hell by tylorlilley 2013-08-29T02:07:00

You should just be able to hit the escape key too...

I kinda like that though, haha. You can just leave Hell because you want to stop! Kind of ironic.

The Choice by matthewvermaak 2013-08-26T21:11:00

Amazing. My first idea was something like, a game that would highlight how just 10 seconds could change someone's life. I ultimately abandoned that idea because I couldn't figure out how to take that idea and put it into a game. Well, I applaud you for what I couldn't do - this is fantastic. Easily the best game I've played so far!

ErectServeSnug by mpath 2013-08-28T00:38:00

I have a feeling this might be our gold winner for the humor category... crazy idea and actually quite difficult, but I did beat it!

10 Seconds in Hell by AmyDee 2013-08-27T05:11:00

Very creepy You had e on the edge of my seat, so that's something... a very good atmosphere. Crazy enough, both of our entries have the same name, but they're nothing alike at all! I'm sure that won't get confusing at all. haha. Very cool game though, I love it. :)

10 Second Roguelike by BadgerPriest 2013-08-26T21:05:00

This game handles very well and is very well programmed. I think the idea sounds a lot cooler than it actually is in execution, however... the audio and the walking down the same long hallways time and time again get rather annoying after awhile. Good game in any case!

LD33 — You are the Monster

Welcome to Cronenburg by Galan 2015-09-01T17:38:00

I got stuck inside a monster...

The gameplay was a little light and confusing but I really liked the visuals and the idea/name is hilarious so props for that!

i Have a Choise by DiscoFish 2015-08-24T23:39:00

This game was too spastic to even follow...

Separated by rxi 2015-09-03T22:17:00

Some nice ambient music and graphics to set the mood, but not much actually goes on in terms of gameplay...

The Loved Ones by Stending 2015-08-27T22:53:00

This was an interesting exercise though without any semblance of choice it is hard to call it a game... still I enjoyed the graphics and the audio. Maybe it could have been shorter? It definitely got repetitive fast!

A Harrowing Journey by tylorlilley 2015-08-24T21:31:00

Thank you for your kind words you guys! It is definitely a hard game... @DeusOpus, there definitely is a loud flashing sound when day and night change... maybe it got lost in the midst of everything going on though! Haha.

A Harrowing Journey by tylorlilley 2015-08-30T02:39:00

@ChosenCharacter: Haha, what is wrong with the name of the game? I am genuinely curious as to why you say I need to change it. Thank you for the rest of your kind feedback as well!

@The other two: Thank you also! I'm glad to hear people are enjoying it so much! It means a lot thanks :)

Attack On Brick Town by paps 2015-08-27T22:42:00

This game was fun, but far too short and unpolished. Better graphics and more modes for the gameplay would really up the ante here!

Mazeotaur by Killbert 2015-09-01T17:33:00

I liked the atmosphere and the general idea, but with such little gameplay there is not much here to judge! A few sound effects would have been nice to see as well; it would certainly make attacking enemies more satisfying.

yummy, tasty humans by undef 2015-09-01T17:25:00

Very funny little game. Would have been cool to see it grow into something a bit more complicated, or have a bit better art, but what can you do.

Someone stole the Princess! by Donpastor 2015-08-27T23:07:00

The game was pretty easy. With so many potions it really just amounted to running around grabbing them and heading for the stairs until you got to the princess. I liked the art style and the controls however! I could easily see this being developed further into a fuller play experience later on. :)

Do You Understand ? by qkerguelen 2015-08-24T21:29:00

This was a simple game, but I enjoyed it. The controls were a bit loose for my liking, but it was still fun! Nice submission overall.

Blockluster by TheLocust 2015-09-01T17:30:00

The explosion sound effects were a little loud but I quite like this take on the theme!

BOoOo!! by K1llercake 2015-09-01T17:22:00

I quite liked the audio portion of this game. The little "ah-ha!"s when I was found out were a fun touch.

KidsGrace by Polith Games 2015-09-01T17:45:00

One of the most polished looking games I've played yet! The take on the theme is refreshing to see and the audio, graphics, and simple gameplay all worked together to make a fun little performance! Bravo!

A Fox's Journey by Pusty 2015-08-24T23:36:00

Did not work for me! Sorry.

Werewolf Quest by Yrr 2015-08-27T22:34:00

Nice entry overall! I dig the graphics and the combo-punch was fun to juggle enemies with. I would have liked to see more done with the fighting than that one combo though. Music would have done a lot to set the mood here as well. But I liked what there was!

Hunting Treasure by Arachne 2015-08-24T23:32:00

I wish it wasn't so short! But I liked what there was of it, especially the graphics!
