Fun, but the gameplay lags a bit on my computer
Nice work! And nice roguelite! :)
The game does start to lag a bit after some floors, even if left alone it starts lagging.
Cheers and nice work, again! :D
I'll take a look at the issue later. Thanks for the comments.
Oh, I love roguelikes.Great to see you found the memory leak.
Just finished uploading the fixed version. No more hung web browsers hopefully.
So glad you addressed the memory leak; I can actually play the game now! Cute little roguelike, enjoyed the gameplay and nostalgia.
Also minified everything so the game loads faster. I left a link to the original .js file in case someone wants to take a look at the source.
Could have used a bit more challenge, but it was cute, loved the graphics!
I love the style and the graphics but i have some alert (with a binary matrix !). Thanks for this game !
Ooops, I forgot to disable the debug keys! E shows the map matrix and Q shows the walkable matrix (that one is used for pathfinding). I'll disable them later.
Nice work. I like the graphics.
It was very fun, nice work!,keep it up!
A clean, simple roguelike.
I would have liked to see the following things:
- The ability to wait a turn.
- Different enemy types with varying dmg and hp.
- Challenge. At the moment all I need to do to win is to walk the shortest path towards the exit, bumping into any enemies on the way, and I don't even need to pick up any potions.
Rogue-likes have a lot of interactions and seemingly random events to create an environment that breeds challenging decisions.
See: Net-Hack, ADOM,
Another path you can take is the rogue-lite where a very tight gameplay design offers a similar, but less deep and random, framework for gameplay.
See: 868-HACK (freeware version: 86856527), Hoplite, Desktop Dungeons
Thanks for the input! I'm also a big fan of roguelikes.
All of the things you listed were planned but as I ran out of time they didn't get the cut. I'm working on a new version with many new features (different enemy types, abilities, field-of-view, proper randomly generated maps, etc).
I'll write a post once I finish it.
As a huge roguelike fan, I did expect a little bit more challenge and variety in enemies and items. Enjoyed the nostalgic mood though!
The game was pretty easy. With so many potions it really just amounted to running around grabbing them and heading for the stairs until you got to the princess. I liked the art style and the controls however! I could easily see this being developed further into a fuller play experience later on. :)
Nice rougelike, would have enjoyed holding a key to move.
All and all good game!
no vim keys what kind of roguelike is this 0 / 5
no seriously i really enjoyed it. i like the mechanic of potions being the method of leveling up (i know brogue does it but its still uncommon).
i wish it were more challenging but balancing a roguelike is hard so i guess i dont blame you.
overall its nice to see a roguelike in ld (and also nice to see more html5 games).
p.s. if you ever make another roguelike you gotta include support for lkjh movement at the very least (and ideally yubn for diagonals too)
I adore the pixelart!
Cute little game, wish it was a bit more challenging .
Good gob
A fun, if fairly easy, roguelike! If you start with a monster with high luck, the game seems to spawn tons of level-up and strength-up potions, and after that nothing can touch you. With low-luck monsters it takes a little longer to win, but it's still not too challenging. Even so, it's a fun game!
Yey, fun. Enemies could have done twice, or maybe 3 times as much damage, but past that everything was great.
The gameplay was not that challenging but I liked the overall atmosphere. Good job.
lol, that ending!
Fun little roguelike! (did not experience any lag) Great job!
(tiny) well done game but too easy...
Fun game reminds me of the old terminal based roguelikes.
Haha, awesome.
Absolutely love it!
Simple but very captivating, and the princess was very tasty indeed :)
(you should scale the images / sprites though (use smoothed = false), had to zoom the browser window to get it to a decent size)
Congrats on releasing your game! Jam version could use more depth but I like the progress you're making on the post-jam already. Keep it up!
I thought it was fun, and was able to win. :) Yep, very well done rouge like. :)
I ended up on a level where the exit didn't work. Not sure how that happened but I enjoyed playing it up to that point. Very well executed, nice graphics too.
nice game, too little, I had to increase zoom of the browser. It looked really polished but I felt it too easy. great graphics and sounds!
Cute little rouge-like. The graphics are lovely and the gameplay is nicely streamlined :)
I did find the resolution too small personally and resorted to magnifying the browser window. Perhaps put in an option to double/triple the pixel size?
Managed to 'save' the princess and liked the message at the end :D
Nice little game :)
i liked the minimalist side of it.
Reminds me of turn based labyrinth game.
Nice one!
