This art style reminds me of a game called *Double Dodger*, where you also play a 2D pixel-art game in a realistic 3D environment. I think this works really well as a minigame! Great work for the jam!
The polo game has its own unique learning curve, and once you start getting used to it, the game becomes much more fun!
That said, it still gives me *Getting Over It* vibes, since the mechanics themselves are already quite challenging.
I think the next step would be to make the game more accessible to everyone. For example, you could introduce smoother terrain, such as slopes instead of rectangular obstacles, to make movement feel more natural and less frustrating.
Considering this game was made in just 8 hours, it's not bad at all!
The fact that there's a medkit after several enemies already makes this game better than quite a few others!
I really like the idea of reflecting projectiles, and I think the game could be even more fun if players were rwarded more for pulling it off. For example, successfully reflecting a projectile could send it flying back at the enemy or even trigger a bullet-time effect!
Out of all five levels, my favorite is definitely the second one! It's not too difficult, so I could just relax and enjoy the completely new experience created by those unique visual effects.
The other levels felt a bit too difficult and fast-paced for my taste, though.
That being said, I'm a huge fan of your creative vision and the way you approached the game! I'd love to know what inspired you, and especially how you managed to create those amazing visual effects!
This is actually not bad at all! At first, I was a bit confused by the black photo, but once I realized it was a bug and understood that the main mechanic was to place the photos you took, the game suddenly became much more interesting!
The way different enemies react to photos is a really interesting mechanic! However, it's a bit frustrating that enemies can kill you while they're off-screen. That caught me off guard... and not in a good way, haha.
But I genuinely think you should develop this idea further and turn it into a more complete game. There's definitely potential here!
A little bug/ mecanics detetcted : You can have mutiple player controled at once, the game is actually a lot of fun we the nb of people increase, I don't know if it's intential, but it should be!
Such a heartwarming story for a game jam! I'm really curious about your inspirations. I can definitely sense some Five Nights at Freddy's vibes, but I'd love to know more!
Did you write the entire storyline yourself? Is there a hidden story behind it all? Because it really feels like there's something deeper going on, and I'd love to uncover it!
I really enjoyed it! Sadly, I couldn't figure out how to beat the game. There's a bit too much reliance on mouse controls for my taste, and I think the game could be even better if more keyboard controls were introduced.
Imagine playing an actual minigame while simultaneously dodging zombie hands! That would be really fun!
For a game made in just 4 hours, it's not bad at all! I just wish there were more audio and visual cues to guide me, because I felt quite lost while playing.
Using the phone as a trigger is a clever idea! It would be even more fun if we could actually call someone and receive a voice message...
Such a great game! It brought me back to the first time I played Portal, when a hidden storyline slowly revealed itself and completely changed my perspective on the game...
I'd absolutely love to see this concept expanded into a longer game with a full release! The atmosphere is really well done, and there's so much potential here.
One suggestion: it could be even better to have a specific key item that determines the ending. Right now, when I wanted to destroy the grinder, I didn't have enough plutonium, so I felt a bit forced into choosing the bad ending rather than making that choice myself.
But overall, amazing work! I'd love to see more of this game!
The fact that you can smash everything with your hammer is really fun!
I think the game could go even further with its puzzle mechanics by introducing more interactions between multiple gears. For example, unbreakable gears that can only be moved with the help of other gears!
That could add a whole new layer of depth to the puzzles!
I've always loved games like this, a little bit of darkness, a little bit of imagination, where fiction and reality are blended together, the music helped me a lot to get into the role of the doctor! Personally, I find this game really inspiring!
A great game inspired by Incredibox! The concept is really well executed, with great music and cute animations. Super satisfying to play!
And the game actually manages to go beyond Incredibox by introducing special guests! (By the way, I have absolutely no idea how you came up with such a cool system in just 3 days!)
Such a cool idea! The fact that your entire view of the game world depends on your own modules and equipment is super fun! A really neat and innovative concept!
You can definitely see some inspiration from MMORPGs, but there's so much more to it! It fits the theme perfectly, too.
I don't quite understand the combat mechanics yet, but that didn't stop me from having fun! Great job!
It took me a crazy amount of time to get the game running... (you need to run the main.py in the terminal )
The game has some really interesting environmental storytelling! I like the concept, and you can definitely feel that there's something mysterious hiding beneath the surface.
I'd suggest focusing on finishing and polishing the game, especially the level design, because I think the idea has a lot of potential!
Great atmosphere! However, the game lacks a bit of guidance. As a puzzle game, I think it's important to always give players a clear goal so they know what they're trying to achieve.
That said, I really enjoyed the little physics-based interactions with the objects!
One small bug I noticed: you can climb onto the shelves and end up floating in mid-air for the rest of the game (it almost felt like I'd become the ghost myself, haha!).
