Fun and simple, but I tried three times and just couldn't get past 7000, it already goes so fast to the point you can only click one, maybe two times before the console is taken away, so having the screen get smaller because of the hands makes it a bit too hard imo

enad96 2026-10-19 08:48 ♥ 1

spooky

eoshadows 2026-10-19 16:27 ♥ 1

@leophyte yeah considering how I’ve only managed to beat it once without cheating I probably should have taken it as a sign I was making it too hard haha but thanks for playing anyways, glad you found it fun!

arfenalis 2026-10-20 07:25 ♥ 1

Simple yet really fun. Though difficulty grows really quick at some point and its hard to progress when the hand start to appear without any delay

eoshadows 2026-10-20 07:41 ♥ 1

@arfenalis Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I probably could have spent more time working on how the difficulty ramps up. Also I’m thinking the no delay is probably a bug, I thought I set it to have a minimum of 1.5 seconds between appearances but I was recently seeing too that it didn’t seem to be doing that. Thanks for the input!

tykki19 2026-10-20 09:00 ♥ 1

Had to read instructions again as not clear from the game itself but then it was fun to play with. Not sure how much I got score as after lost it was not shown. Solid entry!

yanot-studio 2026-10-20 09:00 ♥ 1

It's a fun game, but I wish it could be controlled with the keys as well. It would be easier.

eoshadows 2026-10-20 14:56 ♥ 1

@tykki19 Thanks for playing, I’m glad you had fun! Yeah I definitely didn’t have a whole lot of context in the game itself, sorry about that! I did put an explanation of the controls in the pause menu but that was about it. And I agree, I should have put the score on the game over screen - I briefly thought of that at some point but then I didn’t get to it for some reason.

@yanot-studio Thanks for playing and for the input, glad you found it fun!

captaindreamcast 2026-10-20 16:58 ♥ 1

After two dozen tries I still clock out at 8100, even after an optimal strat where I just farm upgrades until every press is worth almost a thousand, I can't get those final presses in time before the dead guy (and his new screen border friends) snatch it away. With that level of dedication he earned his score.

Still, very fun game! I had a lot of fun finding out strategies until I found my optimal one. There are a lot of ways to go about it, like my upgrade farming that I already mentioned before (the idea is that you can ignore pressing the right buttons as long as one button gives you enough points, that way you can focus on the grabbing hands). That was my optimal one at the end, other than that I found the mechanic that if you move the gameboy you can dodge the grabbing hands, but they reversed that on me when they got faster, the hand from the other side of the screen popping up immediately just takes the gameboy and you immediately lose. There's a lot of depth here and I enjoyed that. Art-wise, the creepy hand looks cool, and the effect with the multiple hands on the side of the screen sure got me when it first appeared. Sound design was good as well, the sound when the hand goes away after you grab the gameboy helps with getting the timing right. Very cool game, well done!

iluvatar 2026-10-20 18:36 ♥ 1

This is much better than I expected it to be! I love how it is funny but genuinely spooky at the same time. Especially when you are focusing on the points, and suddenly you see the scary hand reaching you. I really enjoyed the difficulty spike and how consistently it sped up the game. I managed to get only to about 6000 points and it got really difficult haha. The only and really THE ONLY thing I would add was to see your score once you die.

ao-85 2026-10-20 22:33 ♥ 1

I loved playing it, super cool

eugenik 2026-10-21 02:31 ♥ 1

The premise of facing down a ghost just to beat their high score is genuinely clever. The game manages to make a simple clicking mechanic feel incredibly tense and high-stakes when those ghostly hands start appearing.

eoshadows 2026-10-21 03:46 ♥ 1

@captaindreamcast Thanks for playing, I'm really glad you liked it! You found so much more depth than I even thought of haha the extent of my idea was really just "what if you try to play an old game console but something (ghost cus Halloween season) tried to take it away from you?". Really cool you managed to find strategies in the game though! I didn't even think of how you could increase the points per button click by using the point deductions to get upgrades without raising the difficulty so quickly. I've managed to barely beat the highscore myself but I'm curious if I'd be able to do it a lot more easily with that. And thanks, I'm glad you liked the sound design! I originally had an 8-bit sound effect when you or the ghost takes the gameboy but it hurt my ears to listen to lol.

@iluvatar Thanks, I'm really glad you liked it! And yeah I agree, I really should have added the highscore to the gameover screen, and it really wouldn't have taken much more work to do so.

@ao-85 Thanks, glad you enjoyed playing!

@eugenik Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I was worried it might be a bit boring especially in the beginning when the hand doesn't pop out that much, and I think because of that I might have made the difficulty ramp up a bit too quickly / too much.

strega 2026-10-21 08:08 ♥ 1

This was surprisingly funny and fun! It gave me the feeling of like trying to play my games while a sibling or friend tries to steal it cause I'm having too much fun. Great art and execution. Awesome job!

logovostudio 2026-10-21 13:20 ♥ 2

The game is cool and fun to play, but in my opinion it's too hard. I couldn't get above around 6500 in about 5 attempts. Still a great game though!

ivankapcov 2026-10-21 17:03 ♥ 1

It's a good concept. But at some point, the game picks up the pace so quickly that you just can't keep up with pressing the buttons. It would also be nice if the game explained how to switch modes; otherwise, I had to look it up in the description.

eoshadows 2026-10-22 03:12 ♥ 0

@strega Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I was thinking of the same thing while working on it haha

@logovostudio Thanks for playing, glad you had fun! Yeah I definitely could have made it less difficult, I think my worry was that if I made it too easy it could get too boring, and so then I leaned too far on the other end.

@ivankapcov Thanks for playing! I put it in the pause menu but do think I could have made it more clear, I'm thinking it would have been better if I'd at least added to the prompt in the corner for pausing that you could also read the controls there.

aleksey-salion 2026-10-22 12:29 ♥ 1

wow, what a haunting soundtrack

elmani335 2026-10-22 15:37 ♥ 1

Really fun and original concept! Love the idea of trying to beat a ghost's high score while it keeps stealing your console! Maybe adding more minigames or random interactions could make it even more chaotic

eoshadows 2026-10-22 17:55 ♥ 0

@aleksey-salion Thanks! I personally wasn’t so sure about it which was why I immediately added a way to mute it in the pause menu lol

@elmani335 Thanks, I’m really glad you like it! I agree, I had a lot of ideas that I didn’t even dare to try cus I knew it would stretch out the scope way too much lol one idea I liked was to add a light source that the ghost would periodically turn off, so you had to turn it back on so you could see your game. That was of course while I was thinking about making the game you play Tetris or alien invaders where not seeing the screen would actually be a bad thing.

gamesplusjames 2026-10-22 22:30 ♥ 1

This was simple but very fun. I didn't beat the high score as the zombie got very fast towards the end but I really enjoyed my playthrough. I really loved the artstyle, and pressing the buttons was nice and satisfying. Great job!

eoshadows 2026-10-23 06:40 ♥ 1

@gamesplusjames Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

dagon 2026-10-23 15:31 ♥ 1

Haha somewhat it's similar to mine! Good game!

kitmani 2026-10-24 09:57 ♥ 0

A funny game, at some point I even caught the rhythm and the mouse clicks felt like the game's rhythm, so I think the mechanics turned out quite well. Leveling up the ghost (or should I say zombie?) was very unexpected and really delighted me. Thank you for your game!

lomna 2026-10-24 13:57 ♥ 1

Feels complete and polished. I would say you achieved you goal of making a something complete! Sadly after many tries I am unable to go above 7000 score so couldn't finish it 😢

bacon-beast 2026-10-24 16:21 ♥ 1

As someone who also made a jam entry around the theme of the Game Boy, I had to check out this game. I think the idea of someone interfering with you playing a game is cool concept. I can imagine a simple platformer or something where the ghost hand tries to press buttons to mess you up while you are playing. The ghost gets awfully aggressive around the 5000-6000-ish mark so I wasn't able to beat their score. No need for them to go directly after the player I guess! I like the visuals and sounds of the ghost hand as well, quite creepy!

nagi4ka 2026-10-24 17:38 ♥ 1

great style!! love this game

bentootoo 2026-10-24 23:21 ♥ 1

I really enjoyed it! Sadly, I couldn't figure out how to beat the game. There's a bit too much reliance on mouse controls for my taste, and I think the game could be even better if more keyboard controls were introduced.

Imagine playing an actual minigame while simultaneously dodging zombie hands! That would be really fun!

Your game inspired me! Thanks, and great job!

darkshadow 2026-10-25 10:13 ♥ 0

Love it, great art, nice simple premise. I like the little pixel art in the gameboy. Great little entry!

Only minor point, I lost my first play through as I was trying to click and hold without switching mode, to polish the controls you could totally make it context sensitive without needing the right click

chaosbrick 2026-10-25 17:47 ♥ 0

Very fun, I like a good challenge. Gotta say I clicked random things in my browser that I didn't know would do anything on accident more than once 😀

zaikorrr 2026-10-26 15:36 ♥ 1

That's a really interesting idea—it would be better if they gave us a little head start :D

mobiledev 2026-10-26 18:30 ♥ 1

What a simple but fun idea, I think you nailed it! Easy to figure out, love the art and the sound design, good job!
