OK THIS IS SOO GOOD the movement is super fun in general. The base platforming moveset is great, the little boost you get from each slash is super pleasing, and you added a teleport at just the right time to keep things interesting. Communicating areas to wall run was done VERY well, I never felt confused outside of one specific area. I think the final trial area didn't really work with the mechanics too well, since a big chunk of the appeal of killing enemies was the movement but I found myself being repeatedly killed over and over, but it was really pleasing when I finally figured out a route through it. The music was good, the mood was good, the game feel was fantastic. Great job on this! Most fun I've had playing any game so far this jam
Nice simple game! Only actual problem I encountered was that jumping out of water can be a little fickle and I thought I was stuck.. other than that nothing else stood out as bad! The timed doors were nice, and you made probably just as much use as you could out of the different mechanics.
Oh my god it JUST KEEPS GOING this is GREAT!! The first and second stages were great, the music rampup as well as the increasing speed really got me excited! The third level really did feel a bit out of place with the rest though, the design being a bit more unfair (the final pick-a-door killed me on my final life on hardcore mode) and also not really fitting the art style? The mines' jumpy movement would've probably made a lot more sense if it was still matching the LCD style. (Worth it for the ending though, the final line had me giggling) The presentation and the first 2 levels were absolutely great, though. Best game I've played so far for the jam.
VERY glad the music changes after the first area! The piano loop didn't help much for the atmosphere but the next two tracks were AMAZING, even with how short they were. I wish I'd remembered to look at the map you included because the last note took a lot of wandering hahaha. Art was great too, you had this really great mesh of mediums, it made the different resolutions of the diver and the environment not stand out :o) Very good entry, nails the mood perfectly
Definitely a little too long!! Losing after like 8 minutes of drilling isn't really my favorite thing but good execution for sure! The different tile types added lots of well-needed variety (even if I wasn't really too sure what gas pockets were at first haha), the music was fine, and it stuck to the theme well while still doing something unique.
Fun game! The lack of room variety kind of held it back a bit but that's what comes with time constraints! Very fun concept for a game, and if you added more content and maybe developed the combat a bit more this'd be a really fun thing to play :o) Really though the graphics are good, the movement is nice and the coin/upgrade mechanic is good!
Nice polish!! Catching the mice was a bit tedious, but oh my god this was entertaining for how short it was!! Having the slide while charging was a really good move for game feel, and honestly this game has a lot of choices like that. Having the doors open by attacking them just made things feel so tied together and solid. The ending had me giggling to myself too :) Great entry
Oh whoops AND ALSO I NEED TO MENTION HOW MUCH I LOVE THE ATTACK SOUND EFFECT
Good art + audio! The sound effects and the little ambient noises really matched well with the art style and captured that specific mood! My only problem was that the combat wasn't very fun with no enemy knockback with such a short-ranged weapon. Having to get one hit on a spider then wait a few seconds for them to come back down wasn't very fun, but really it was so torturous because I wanted to get back to the rest of the game!! The branching paths were a nice touch and the fact that it has a BOSS (multiple? i didn't get very far) is so wild.
The atmosphere was nice but I couldn't really tell if I was doing anything right, I just looked at the balls and stuff happened until it stopped and I got stuck :\ The camera movement and models were great, I just think some feedback to tell me why things were happening would've helped tons
Very very good concept!! A nice amount of mechanics, speed affecting your jump length was really great and totally seems like something you could build off of! Allowing the player to choose to slow themselves down if they needed to was a very good idea, and not immediately killing the player from one mistake was definitely something I was pleased to see on the second-last screen when I hit some lava haha. My one complaint is that grabbing food can sometimes be difficult because of the required pixel-perfect precision I guess?
@notpresident35 oh my god it looks like a city
Kinda short and minimal art + story, but the movement is nice + fun to use
Definitely enjoyed this one!! Very good mood captured with most of the dialogue + music + audio. Some of the art was a bit lacking but the combination of being able to see the characters dance and the great dreary color palette absolutely made up for that :) Color coding each row of notes was a really subtle but great decision and being able to wrap from top and bottom made the later stages so much more doable, even if it was a bit disorienting at first! This game is full of great subtle little things
This was..... AN EXPERIENCE. Great audio, great visual effects, and the humor was... very particular, loved being able to stop and read the signs. The idea for the enemies not doing damage but pushing you towards the exit is a great concept that really ties in with the whole theme of the game really well!! I think that it didn't need to go on as long as it did, especially with the slow movement + large level @ the end, but very good nonetheless.
Really simple game but totally works as just that!! Definitely some problems but the bulk of the game is just the idea/innovation :)
Honestly I was originally pretty annoyed that there was no tutorial but after like five losses I finally figured out what to do (SORT OF) and I started feeling pretty damn cool for figuring it out. I still feel like I'm missing something just because loss is inevitable? But very creative game idea, I like this a lot!
Seriously though either I'm missing something or there's no way to extend your "health" and I really wish there was!!
Okay back one more time to say I SAW A DOOR RIGHT BEFORE I LOST and I desperately want to see if that does anything. High score is 14, my final opinion is that this is probably my most played game this jam so far and I just wish there was more of a tangible different to the tiles that were explained. I still don't really know what's going on :o)
