LD58 — Collector

Collection Envy by kesplat 2025-10-06T06:49:11Z

I really like the concept of the game! The limitations of colours and space really makes you think how to maximize your score. It would be nice if there was some indication of how you earned the score per painting (e.g. after you say "It's Perfect!", pixel by pixel, you see a score assigned per pixel). That way you understand how the scoring works and can improve for your next painting :)

Coco-llectors by tanis 2025-10-06T06:52:23Z

Quite an interesting collection game in that you can "steal" the enemy's pile of cocos in order to score, so what really matters isn't how high you stack the cocos but whether you're the last one to touch a "pile" or make a final combination. The AI was at a good level of difficulty as it wasn't too easy or too difficult! Given that a round lasts 3 minutes, it would be interesting if in the final minute there were special cocos (grant more points) or a coco rush to diversify the game-play. Overall good job :)

Go Be Collector Somewhere Else by evgenii-petrov 2025-10-07T18:09:08Z

For a game with a simple premise the levels can get surprisingly difficult (having to platform to the objects and get the right timing for when to knock things over). The art was simple yet effective, the shader and particle effects really enhance the visuals. Good job :)

Fluster Fencing by Jajo 2025-10-06T17:36:58Z

This game reminds me of Thirsty Sword Lesbians. The written dialogue is charming and I like how you can collect gold, the crown and territories (I also like the extra touches of giving the lands unique names). For a more expanded version, having each of the opponents have different dialogue (or different choices make them fluster) and having a way to exchange between the three currencies would be nice.

Grand Collector by Alex Mulkerrin 2025-10-07T18:04:55Z

Love the aesthetic and themeing of the game as someone who's into older JRPGs! I found it very humorous that they would keep delegating the task to someone else but I guess that's how fetch quests work. I also liked the addition of the ship movement at the end as it made the gaps of water make more sense. I also appreciated how it wasn't too difficult and the controls/what to do next was very intuitive.

Bibli-otter-phy by Mathstr0fficial 2025-10-06T17:15:48Z

Very cute game! I can now say I've played a game where you are an otter and a diver and a librarian? I appreciate that there are the items that increase your abilities (stats) but also items that decorate your library! It's very cool you get to accessorize and customize your character.

Bibli-otter-phy by Mathstr0fficial 2025-10-06T17:17:11Z

@benjamin-gare I didn't understand at first as well (it took trial and error) but you have to hold the C key in order to collect items but you have to be very close in order for the collection bar to appear.

Bone Collector by Antti Haavikko 2025-10-06T07:01:44Z

The graphics are incredibly polished! I like that the dice are multi-purpose, not only determining where you can go but how you fight and train, it makes the game feel cohesive. I didn't have a strategy in mind but I enjoyed playing this game :)

The Crossing by IndigoWolf 2025-10-06T17:26:01Z

Glad you managed to submit something! A simple concept but the "multitasking" twist on frogger works and the "crossing souls to the afterlife" theming ties it together. I think the blue lines signalling the lane you're in could be brighter/more visible.

Clear Skies by Nash 2025-10-06T20:20:25Z

A lovely game! I'm quite impressed you managed to make a cozy atmosphere in PICO-8. The music really helps achieve this effect. I like how the notebook gives you some of the star names but not all of them in the constellation as it means you have to make some deductions. Also, I was glad the map wasn't as large as it would feel overwhelming (when I saw the pink borders on the sides of the map I felt relief). Not too difficult but it creates a relaxing and very pleasant playing experience :)

Attic Thrifter by Sthor726 2025-10-07T17:45:59Z

Really enjoyable sokoban game! I liked how you started with a level that was already testing the player's knowledge. You manage to do a lot with the core mechanic of the chasing rat and each level feels like it's adding something new. The acoustic guitar sound effects sound great as well :)

Loaded Dice by Phoenix Fireflower 2025-10-06T17:59:00Z

Very fun and unique deckbuilding game! The extra twists on dice formation (i.e. 1s always play the next dice) adds a surprising amount of depth and then there are cards/modifiers on top of that. I liked that you had modifiers which adjusted dice values and and those which added temporary effect. It felt so satisfying to combo these two types of cards at once. Sacrificing cards for health was also presented difficult trade-offs (especially since I wasn't always doing so well on health). Fantastic music as well.

TRASH-OUT by MelekTaus 2025-10-06T20:50:17Z

This game is adorable!! I love Pops (the trash bot), their animations are so fluid and their design is very cute. The music sounds incredible and despite it looping frequently was very pleasant to listen to. I also appreciate the unique gameplay of having to drag things around. At the beginning it was quite frantic/hectic (so the music mismatched) but on another replay I got a lot of trash sorted and then entered a state where collecting the new trash was easier and the gameplay became very relaxing (maybe a metaphor for how beginning environmental efforts may be difficult but gradually become easier with more support?). I never used the longer range upgrades but I found speed to be essential. Great job :)

CLEAN UP THE TOWN! by Elfb0y 2025-10-06T21:02:15Z

The music here was fantastic! Both the title theme and the main game theme were incredibly fun to listen to (though I have a preference for the title screen as I like more calming music). What software did you use to make it? I liked the lighting in the game and how the player character wobbles up and down as he walks. For embedding the web version of the game (for ldjam website), I had to redo my game's dimensions as 943x533 in order for it to fit.

Collecting Dust by jacobwinters 2025-10-07T17:36:55Z

I really liked the dialogue in this game and having to protect dusty items from zooming roombas is a humorous and inventive spin on the "tower defense" genre. The sound effects were nicely done and I like how the player character said "woah" whenever a roomba would step on him (also appreciated how a piece of furniture bounces when you throw it on the ground). Great job!

Let it R.I.P. by LChaves 2025-10-08T17:44:51Z

Legendary-level pun for the title. At first, my instinct was to slash things as fast as I could since there were so many souls, but then I noticed the slash limitation (or bag limit) in the corner after I kept getting low scores. I really like the extra polishes of the soul dex and being able to change the music. Cute game :)

PEPATE by Ueighti 2025-10-07T19:58:31Z

A very cute game! The idea of a simple game like rock, paper scissors and expanding is quite unique and not something I've seen before. I also really like the name "pe pa te", it's somehow fitting for the adorable art style. A lot of my effects I chose involved playing 3 of a type (3 rocks, 3 papers) so it would've been nice if I defeated the enemy sooner (i.e. turn 1 or turn 2) then the special effect would still trigger (as I had 3 rocks in my hand). I think I also found a bug where if you don't choose anything (just press Ok!) then enemies will appear anyway and you can't do anything :(

All that aside this is a very charming game that's well-polished :)

Serial Cleaner by 6Knowledge 2025-10-07T19:47:41Z

A calming game and I'm glad there was no timer as I didn't feel rushed. Interactions with different items could be made clearer (I didn't know if I was done wiping or found a fingerprint) but given the relatively simple controls it was intuitive enough to do most tasks. Love the pun in the title serial cleaner as well :)

Swarm Surge by Rinevard 2025-10-06T20:32:07Z

Super cute game! I like the concept of having to kill the leader without damaging their minions (as they will become your minions). This game implements the theme of "collector" very strongly and I liked having a swarm of my minions around me. It can be challenging at times to "control" how your minions as you can't aim where they attack but it adds a sense of chaos to the game :)

Collect It by Stef_Studio_7 2025-10-06T17:49:09Z

I got 1055 but I suspect it's because I'm not chaining enough of the tiles together (my memory isn't the best haha). Surprisingly addictive game, would be great if there was a tutorial level as I struggled to get to new levels initially. Good job!

KeyboardCollector by NoodleStorm 2025-10-06T06:56:03Z

Cute metroidvania! Unfortunately I couldn't get past the 7 but I liked how if you have more movesets (or keys) you can trace back to that location using a different path. I really enjoyed figuring out that you can actually use the number keys to unlock doors rather than it being just a collectable.

SaleDay by Lapher 2025-10-08T17:57:07Z

The game really captures the hectic feeling well! I like how intuitive it was to pick up items (just colliding and staying next to the stall) and drop them off at the checkout counter. Movement is fun but I wish I could run faster or mad-dash (I guess that would require the levels being larger). In a more expanded version it would be fun to have shortcuts to different items or different routes. Overall, good job!

Goblin Lord's Dream by Ira Baciu 2025-10-08T18:44:34Z

As someone who's a big fan of the WarioWare series I really appreciate that the team managed to make so many different minigames! A very challenging task but all the games worked and were fun! The slime game is a lot harder than the other two but it's okay for the minigames to get more difficult (maybe the brewing potion game should go first as that was the easiest?). I really like the wobble effects applied to the slime character in the final game. And the narrative framing of needing to collect all the achievements of your games is very meta and very amusing. Great job team! :)

Patent Troll by arkicade 2025-10-06T06:58:26Z

@quail-weaver Glad you managed to get there in the end! For comparing pixels you have to be very fast but also make sure the pixels are similar (and not totally different) in order to gain points (or gain favour with the judge) rather than lose points :)

Patent Troll by arkicade 2025-10-08T17:35:09Z

Thank you all so much for the feedback! Glad to hear people like the polish, art and idea. Will take note of the fact that the tutorial can be a bit clearer as it should emphasize that it's about quickly getting a lot of similar pixels in both paintings. Originally, you only chose 4-5 pixels, but the paintings generated resulted in the scoring being too inconsistent. I also wanted the game to lean on the easier side since it's a game jam :)
