LD57 — Depths

Break The Tower by torcado 2025-04-14T22:25:21Z

Superb game! Like a few other people have said, there's a lot more to do than you think if you look hard enough. Was constantly impressed with how much there was underneath the surface on top of an already polished game.

Shleep by Rongo Matane 2025-04-10T14:08:34Z

Good vibes all around! There's lots of ideas and mechanics that are slowly introduced that caught me off guard in a really fun way. Also, LOVE the visuals and music, they really complement the dream-y theme of the game. Great job to the whole team!

Hollowspire by simex 2025-04-09T01:39:08Z

The art style is simple yet so charming, love my silly little guys runnin around mining away... and love the shifts in vibes the deeper you go, too.

Clambell's Great Escape by botwoj 2025-04-10T00:21:33Z

First thought that crossed my mind when I saw the octopus was how well-animated it was. The second thought was me realizing how hard that section was, haha. Managed to make it through, though! Very cute and hard-to-master game with some interesting movement ideas.

Apnea by JulienLussiez 2025-04-08T20:31:07Z

A nice and simple concept that's driven in such a unique way. I feel like the minimalist aesthetics are enough, as it just leaves the player with themselves & their own thoughts while they hold their breath. Wouldn't be bad to try adding more visual/audio/narrative elements like you described, though!

Dataminers by bubblewandgames 2025-04-08T15:13:06Z

I really love how much control is given to the player to set their own difficulty, in a sense, by letting them choose what depth to start at - it's an interesting balance between risk and reward. I was not able to get the hat, but. One day I will.

Super Pyonpon by Saturnyoshi 2025-04-08T15:02:36Z

Awesome, awesome game. The level of Schmovement the team managed to capture in the game's deceptively simple movement system absolutely rules. Team Bugulon never disappoints!

DEVLIC`S ABSORPTION by Tugaryn 2025-04-09T14:10:49Z

Nice work! I found myself having some trouble finding spots to place the heart resource generators since there's only so many villages, but it's otherwise a fairly balanced & rewarding experience most of the way through that encourages some placement strategy through the depths to keep your most important buildings safe.

D.E.E.P Impact by feor 2025-04-08T16:19:06Z

Pretty cool! Everything started to click once i realized one of the missiles expose terrain/enemies, which is honestly a really neat way to let the player multitask finding enemies through both that method and the radar.

Burrilka by echerry 2025-04-10T00:11:09Z

Absolutely adore the gritty artstyle, feels fittingly claustrophobic given that you're working in a cramped drill. It can get really chaotic as you're given more tasks to micromanage, which absolutely rules. Great job to everyone involved!

Painball by AmberFall92 2025-04-09T13:57:36Z

Managed to snag 10th place on the leaderboard as of this comment, hehehe. Great game! I found it hard to get any deeper than where the second flippers are - maybe I could have used the boxing gloves to launch them up instead of putting axes everywhere - but this is otherwise very polished with a rewarding gameplay loop and great (& funny!) art.

SLITHER by slimetrash 2025-04-08T15:26:56Z

OOGH this game gets pretty hard. I like it! One of those kinds of games where I feel like people can take this game, put in under a microscope, and study the movement for weeks for how to best optimize each level. Good stuff!

Deeper by BlackCat508 2025-04-08T16:34:36Z

Super impressive visuals/sound design given how long you worked on this! Using other humans as a shield against monsters is messed up but helps you survive longer, which is really neat lol. Nice work!

a shrimply irresistible story by WeeFairyFabi 2025-04-08T21:10:43Z

Aha... more games with shrimp pun titles featuring shrimp... awesome..,

The hand-drawn art is so cute! There's a lot of fun moments in all the different routes, too - this game is just bursting with charm, and I appreciate a few routes having some simple yet neat minigames to spice it up. Good job!

Icebreakers! by npckc 2025-04-09T02:04:15Z

ahhh this game was so cute!! I will cherish Daisy forever and wish them the best on their journey to be Cute and Cool. Depth in conversations is a unique interpretation of the theme that works well given the visual novel format/engine used, the art has a cute bubbly style the whole way though, and I could probably find myself listening to some of this game's music for hours. It's real good. Props to everyone involved!

Song of the Depths feat. Shian by rubatotree 2025-04-10T00:35:23Z

Spectacular mood the whole way through! I had a smile on my face the whole time and had a great time with this one. Very interesting potential for puzzle design I started to see realized in the last few levels!

MineDigger by dot_Ex 2025-04-08T16:27:19Z

A neat idea and twist on minesweeper! I was struggling to understand how the numbers work (since they don't seem to represent adjacent mines?), so a brief explanation, even on this page, could help people pick up what they mean quickly. Other than that, killer visuals and ideas.

Egg Rescue: Detective by jetaimais 2025-04-08T16:03:29Z

Very cute game with a super cute art style!! Even though I didn't find much of a reason to zoom out, the camera depth mechanic has some neat potential.

Shrimply Fishing by ACarr 2025-04-08T22:10:45Z

@python-b5 Thank you! Good point on the font, even if i didn't have time for actual UI i definitely should've at least changed the font to something that doesn't get crunched up at lower resolutions lol

Shrimply Fishing by ACarr 2025-04-09T15:47:31Z

@tugaryn Much appreciated! Some sort of progression would have been next on my list of priorities after UI, but due to time i had to cut both.

There isn't necessarily an advantage to throwing the line as far as you can, but where the hook lands on the surface is where you start underwater. There's a few fish types that only reside at certain spots that may make this important, but otherwise, yeah, it's not something you'd usually need to put too much thought into in the game's current state.
