Overall, seems pretty good has a fun loop to it. I love the art direction and choices you've made! The main issue I have with this game is mainly the aspect of when you reach the bottom, instead of automatically going up you are forced to reset or you're stuck there. I personally would also add a beastiary system or something to log the fish that you've already seen or caught, but I understand that there were time constrants! Nice job, cant wait to see what else you make :D

Love the art style, reminds me of cat goes fishing (:

Love the art, who doesn't love a good fishing game.

If people could eat naval mines, those supplied by the *SS Sushi* would never go hungry. Very cute little game, I dig the art. Managed to catch a sea bass, clown fish, hammerhead shark and an eel (didn't even notice the grammar mistake before the game pointed it out). It's a bit lacking in the UI department as you mention, things like a meter for the launch angle and power, maybe a log like the other commenter suggested, but it's still playable. Simple and enjoyable.

Love the progression as you go deeper! I wasn't very good at actually making it back after catching something, but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. The art has a nice style to it, though the pixelated default sans-serif font felt a bit out of place. Nice work on this.

@python-b5 Thank you! Good point on the font, even if i didn't have time for actual UI i definitely should've at least changed the font to something that doesn't get crunched up at lower resolutions lol

I like how there's unique lines for the different fish. Also the variety is fun. Interesting mechanic too with having an angle and power combined to determine where the bobber falls. Definitely a neat game! It feels like I'm starting over each time I want to catch a new fish though, even when I succeeded at catching the last one. I kinda wish if I didn't break my line, that I'd get points for each catch and add them up. This game would have rocked with a leaderboard and mechanic to get points for rarer fish :)

This is a good relaxing game! Low pressure vibe, just having fun catching different fish. In an optimal version of this game, new fish types would join your boat as fellow sea fishers to show your gradual progress. Even the fellow shrimp! A cozy type game, with good music and silly designs. I appreciate the Animal Crossing reference as well. I did find the controls with the mouse more versatile as it could yank in any direction. A fun take on the classic fishing minigame. Great work!

cool game, it seems that I had once on the phone :)

tugaryn 2025-04-09 08:08

Very cool game Lots of details I like it. I wish there were upgrades and some kind of meta progression. I don't get it just if there's any point in throwing far away and trying to hit it perfectly? Disadvantages are probably would like a little faster transitions from one mode to another, but all good.

Very cohesive game, thank you.

acarr 2025-04-09 15:47

@tugaryn Much appreciated! Some sort of progression would have been next on my list of priorities after UI, but due to time i had to cut both.

There isn't necessarily an advantage to throwing the line as far as you can, but where the hook lands on the surface is where you start underwater. There's a few fish types that only reside at certain spots that may make this important, but otherwise, yeah, it's not something you'd usually need to put too much thought into in the game's current state.

Nice one! I really dig the art of this game! It was kinda hard for me to get the deepest fishes, I know there may be some ideas that didn't reach production, so it's ok!

I really enjoyed finding new fishes deep down below, I wanted to get them all, but it was kinda hard. Maybe something to heal up the reel, or maybe recover health while you're not reeling in.

Also there's a lot of potential for new features: - Visual indicators for range and strength - Upgrades: reel life, strength, distance, etc. - Monstruary - Usage of different hooks to catch different fishes The list goes on and on! 😉

Cute little fishing game, the picture of the shrimp in the top right was a really nice touch :D Loved the style and the music was great to just vibe out to while trying to not lose yet another fish to a bomb lol

brian-russell 2025-04-10 05:14

Enjoyable! Really relaxed, laid back experience. My favorite part is the dropping of the bobble and yanking your line.

lyamgtt 2025-04-10 08:43

Really chill and cute, loved it ! Well done !

verttixpertti 2025-04-10 08:44

I wish there was a goal of some sort, but other than that the game was fun.

kahztein 2025-04-10 08:51

Very charming game! Feels like a minigame you'd play in a Stardew Valley-esque game. Love how whimsical the music is, and the art is nice and pleasant to look at.

yanzhi 2025-04-11 08:16

the music and art tickled my brain in the best ways possible! i loved the gameplay, and made me want to keep playing and collect all them fishies. i liked that as i yanked the line, i am able to control the direction

rubatotree 2025-04-12 11:34

Relaxing game! Maybe my favorite game that I've played ever. The shrimp and fish are lovely and I really like the animations. I can play it for an hour to collect all kinds of fish in the ocean. :fish: :fish:
