Just tried it out, fun simple little avoidance game. The restart from beginning is pretty brutal :) I like the painted backgrounds!
liked the game took me 20 tries to acutally get it right.... restarting from the beggining is pretty painful
Games so chill what a vibe - the beautiful backgrounds, relaxing music and float-y controls all work together so well. Then every time I eat it I get sent back to the start and my stress levels jump right up.
Genius.
I loved the art direction you took with this game. Definitely gave a relaxing feel. If you work on it in the future, I'd definitely tighten up the controls a bit and give an indicator of how far people have to drive to deliver, and also check points would be great. For a jam entry, great job and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future!

Looks like your embed here on LD is broken, but the itch.io link works perfectly.
I like the painterly art style for the backgrounds, especially the first one with the big brush strokes! This is pretty chill, and the music suits the vibe perfectly.
Level checkpoints could be nice, so we don't have to start from the very beginning each time.
I'm not sure what I'm doing with it ... I can see a planet earth and a car on a black background. I can control the car with arrow keys and drive it in the blackness and eventually reach the edge of the blackness/screen, but nothing interesting seems to happen? Have I hit a bug?
Took me a while to figure out what do. I eventually found the planet on the far side of the galaxy. However, once getting there, I guess I died after hitting a rock. I tried again and managed to get a little farther before getting hit by a falling rock.
I'd like a little more hand-holding, or at least some direction that there isn't much direction. Some games can pull off the relaxing exploration vibe, but I can't tell what direction you were going for.
I thought the background art of the space scene was really evocative, and one of the songs clicked nicely with it. I thought that was the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, I never saw if there was anything else to check out.
@jclardy @dummy432 @defrag @holdmeimscared @thaprofesional @cavedens thanks so much for playing and for the feedback!
It definitely needs some dialing in with the controls and better checkpoints would be nice I agree. I did want the obstacles to be quite challenging and punishing in some cases, however testing against the time limit didn't grant me the opportunity to get that balance unfortunately.
Thanks!
@reivilibre Sorry, it's a bit open for you to hopefully enjoy the background and sound, there is a second planet you can visit if you explore a bit (it's on the right edge at the same y value as the start planet)!
@tasakasama yeah apologies the upload/delete was playing up, the itch link: [link](https://zraicis.itch.io/deliveride-ldjam53) is good on most browsers I think.
Fun game! I went to the red planet (mars?) and made it to the cave but died back on the blue planet (earth?). As others have pointed out, dying and starting all over again can be rough but what i found worse was that i couldn't tell how much progress i was making. Maybe a UI element could tell the player how close they are to their next objective?
Both the 2D art and the music were really nice. I also like the levels' "atmosphere". Was there an element of procedural generation at play? I think I saw segments of map and the seams between each segment so I started wondering if you were shuffling between these segments. In any case, well done and thank you for sharing your game!
Got a 404 not found :( Please @ me if you fix it
Really captured the existential horror of being a delivery person in a capitalist society that cares only that we consume. Also the music was really chill and made me feel like a space trucker
love the art direction
@stefanholst Sorry! Please give the itch link a go or the downloads should work.
@noobman64 Thanks for playing and sorry about the lack of a checkpoint! It was all digital art drawn by me. I think the segments you were seeing are just because I did a poor job mirroring the edge and used the same background copied for those levels. I think the layering and different opacity makes it look more muddled as well.

@lex You heard the space octopus!
Simple but functional! The music's a reasonable little background tune, and the controls work, even if they're a little momentum-heavy. Good work putting it all together yourself in just a couple days!
Cute little game idea! The one-hit kill makes it quite challenging indeed  I would suggest to reset vertical or horizontal velocity when the truck hits the game border, having to wait until you cancel all your momentum felt a little weird. Otherwise good job on making everything yourself, great submission!
Interesting mood for a game ! The control being kind of slow is adding to the mood but since the screen is so limited you can't go very fast at all and it become a patience game
Clunky but fun and simple game
The game design could use a little love, but cool art and chill music!
Nice music, and a very hard game. too fast sometimes, need a super space break or something or some laser weapons to destroy some stones
Man you're a bit stingy on the number of lives ! I see people praising music, but didn't hear any on the web build on firefox.
When reaching the end of the world, it would be nice to have the speed vector reset to zero.
I like the idea of having space-y frictionless controls, but it doesn't blend well with trying to quickly react to avoid obstacles. The lack of checkpoints is also pretty glaring. After several attempts I managed to complete the delivery on the orange/purple planet and get back to Earth, but after dying there and having to start all over again I gave up.
That said, I do like the presentation of the game. The backgrounds have a cool painted looking style. The music works well with the chill vibes of drifting through space. And as I said, the slippery controls do work well for conveying the feel of being in space.
@carkh I've had trouble with firefox for a few games, though I'm not sure if godot has a solve for that issue. Agreed about resetting the vector. I think I'd almost prioritise that over nicer checkpoints if I make a change. But maybe that's just because I had to test the collision boundaries.
@asmadigames @icch-howw @herryfabien @baynary-egor @glaas @jpbaraky @veralos Thanks heaps for playing and for the feedback!
I think one of my late lessons learned was how I could store state well, so if my next entry is as difficult I'll balance it out with better checkpoints.
Nice little game. Love the chill music, good work!
Nice chill game with nice chill music. I really like the art. Space squid was a nice reward for completing the game. It was a little repetitive. Different obstacles and planets would be nice. Too hard to avoid obstacles at fast speeds, so I had to take is slow, and resetting to the beginning was a little harsh... So I went slowly.
Only feedback I have that others haven't mentioned is that it would be nice if the foreground obstacles and background were a bit more visually distinct. I hit quite a few rocks because I just couldn't quite see them in time. It also might be nice if it was a bit more forgiving, IE, letting you take a hit or two instead of insta-game overing.
Not bad! Relaxing music and art style. Pretty easy to avoid the rocks if you're not going at max speed. The levels could have been a little shorter though- they seemed to drag on, especially once there were no more obstacles to avoid (which wasn't obvious).
Nice little game that pretty much sticks to the theme. There is a small bug, where when you hit a rock, you can still keep going without pressing R, until you reach your destination. But over all, good entry.
@digital-bacon thanks!
@pincushion Thanks for playing and enjoying the space squid (I think of it as an octopus - the cousin of the human programmer).
@gametrodon I appreciate the extra feedback! I guess I themed the obstacles to the planet's palette, but there's bad UX then. I'll keep it in mind for next time!
@zefphyer Thank you, I agree. The extra link is from some misplace optimism that I'd space the obstacles better and not have lots of sections of only background.
@hakro thanks for playing! Yes I have heard you can complete the level this way as well.
A little unforgiving maybe... cute gfx and nice atmosphere... fun angle with the space truck
I love music, it gives me very good vibes! The game is simple but it wins a lot in the mood, the set of graphics and music makes it exceptional. Perhaps I would introduce new mechanics but I can only congratulate you on the compo, in 48 hours your game seems impressive to me, congratulations!
@purpledartfrog Thanks for playing! Sorry it's unforgiving, if I had another few hours...
@milq thanks I appreciate the feedback! Agreed some extra movement and maybe abilities would be good. If I took it further I'd definitely add some variation to the obstacles/enemies.
Pretty hard at first but once I got the hang of the movement it wasn't so bad. Had some fun navigating between those rocks. I guess you get eaten at the end?
The music loop was short but it didn't get annoying, so props for that.
I think feedback here has already been covered by previous commenters: levels run a little long, restarting from the very beginning is a pain, etc.
All that said, not bad for a first ludum dare! I'm sure you'll make better and better stuff in the future!
@spudboy Thanks!
> The music loop was short but it didn’t get annoying, so props for that.
I was very worried about this, so I'm glad to hear it.
This was my second attempt actually, I ended up unfinished last time but hadn't booked the whole weekend properly. Definitely implemented some better time management practices but yeah, hopefully next one I have more game!
Took me a short while to get used to the controls but think the art style is unique and overall a really relaxing vibe.
Thanks @krynxx
I like the art style of the vehicle, neat and relaxing audio as well. Controls could be a bit less floaty and more responsive. Nice game! :)
Cute game! Good job. I agree with others that the truck felt a bit too heavy - it made controlling it hard.
