| Oct 2 11:34:22 | Limited Grades | ♥ 1 | Very nice game! I loved the graphics and voice acting - everything was ridiculously over the top, which is my favorite brand of humor :) It was also pretty fun to fly around with the jetpack. The boss felt a bit too static, however - I tried it three times, and every time it launched just one or two attacks (pencils, using the fist, summoning a minion), and then just stood there doing nothing while I slowly killed it. Other than that, good entry! | |
| Oct 2 11:56:03 | 21m 41s | Limited Heart | ♥ 2 | If I don't end up playing this when I die, I will riot. Anyway, I loved the FMVs & voice acting!!! They were awesome. The game itself was also way more fun than I expected. I appreciated the solution files in the itch.io page, although I only used them after trying to solve the final puzzle for much too long, only to realize it was impossible. I really wanted to hear the end of the press space rant, but the prospect of a softlock scared me too much. The only feedback that I have is that the hexagons look a bit off, but otherwise, great entry! |
| Oct 2 12:09:43 | 13m 40s | LIGHTDANCER | ♥ 2 | Amazing game! The graphics were awesome, and it felt really good to play - reminded me a bit of Titan Souls. The game never felt like it dragged or was too hard, and the boss fight at the end was a very nice surprise! The mechanic was pretty unique, but the lack of an ability to recall the arrow made missing a bit too punishing, so I ended up always shooting at point blank range, which kind of defeated the point of using a bow & arrow (although I liked the way that the boss prevented this tactic). Also, there were times where the enemies would go too low in the screen, prevent me from attack them even when I shot directly at them. Other than that, I really enjoyed it - excellent entry! |
| Oct 2 12:40:01 | 30m 18s | Prof Delespace and the Golden Record | ♥ 1 | Really nice game! I loved the characters, they all had a ton of personality - Loike was very relatable. The graphics and music were awesome too. The first puzzle was pretty cool, but it took me a while to get what I was supposed to do. I had to use both hints for the second one. The last duel felt a tad too easy - Cardinal Gaspard Ghetti was wrong every single time. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it - great entry! |
| Oct 2 13:10:47 | 30m 46s | The Dude with a Wolf, a Goat and a Cabbage ~ A modern interpretation | ♥ 1 | Hilarious game! I was laughing the entire way through. The story, voice acting, and cast were all amazing - I loved the narrator and the cabbage! It also had an incredible amount of content - I did not expect multiple endings and a final boss "fight"! Makes sense that you had to work on it past 11PM. Pretty much the only nitpick that I had is the pages requiring pressing the right arrow key while the JRPG-style dialogue used A, making the transition between the two a bit awkward, but it did make sense (loved the page turn animation, by the way). Overall, awesome entry! |
| Oct 2 13:34:57 | 24m 10s | Ghastly Tower | ♥ 1 | Very cool game! The opening cinematic was awesome, and the game was a super cool twist on Tetris. I also really liked the music - it added a lot to the retro vibe. The bomb blocks felt a bit useless unless they were on the topmost part of the brick, since getting close to them had a very high risk of dying (most of my deaths were because I accidentally hit a bomb block up close) - maybe preventing them from killing you would've helped? The lack of an ability to rotate the blocks also made it very hard to get a full line, but that's probably not really the intention, as blocks reaching the top of the screen don't cause a game over anyway. Overall, I really enjoyed this - excellent entry! My highscore was level 6. |
| Oct 2 13:52:10 | 17m 13s | Going Up | ♥ 2 | Awesome game! Probably the best take on the theme there is. I also loved the voice acting! The construction worker is my favorite. The puzzles were pretty nice too. It was a bit hard however to understand how much space each person & object took in the elevator - maybe highlighting the matching squares would help? Other than that, great entry! |
| Oct 2 17:36:35 | 3h 44m | Ribbon 2 | ♥ 1 | I AM SPEED. IAMSPEED.png Anyway, amazing game! I had a ton of fun with this one. The concept was super clever, and everything was just flowed together really nicely. The music was a bop, and I loved the graphics. It felt like the Super Mario 64 to Ribbon 1 (which I don't remember much from, but still). Getting the 100% ribbon was a bit hard for me - especially the super tall part, I just randomly jumped and moved until I got it - but otherwise, incredible entry! |
| Oct 2 19:04:06 | 1h 27m | Hope Falters | ♥ 0 | Amazing game! I loved the twist on the classic traffic jam game - it made it significantly more interesting! The graphics and music were awesome too - I especially liked how the music changed depending on the state of the word Hope. I ended up playing it for way more than I expected to create a custom level alongside a friend, which we promise is possible (we swear on everything that's important to us): ``` Test Area 112 PEAR,YEE,HEE,REP,PAV,DAN,HAND,DOPE .........G..... .........R..... .......H.A..... .....B.G.VHD... ....DAN..IEEA.. HOPE.N...TY...* .....AE..Y...E. .....N.......S. .....A.....P... ...PE.R........ ...........DO.E ``` Anyway, awesome entry! |
| Oct 2 19:23:58 | 19m 52s | Hunt for Emperor Littlefin | ♥ 1 | I have vanquished Emperor Littlefin! Anyway, the game was pretty nice - I enjoyed exploring the maze-like underwater caves. It was pretty cool that you managed to implement so many abilities in such a short time (although abilities 1 & 3 felt a bit broken). I also enjoyed the controls after getting used to them and stopped banging the submarine into the cave walls repeatedly. It was a bit confusing at times where I was supposed to go, and some sort of alert informing me that Emperor Littlefin spawned would've helped, but otherwise, great entry! |
| Oct 2 19:44:07 | 20m 09s | Diminutive Dungeon | ♥ 1 | Nice game! I played it with a friend and we managed to unlock all abilities. It was fun! I liked the graphics, and the music was very calm. Overall, good entry! |
| Oct 3 15:41:50 | 19h 57m | AM4LGAM8 | ♥ 1 | Nice game! I liked the graphics, and it was an interesting twist of 2048. However, I couldn't combine 8's for some reason - I think this might be intentional, but maybe mentioning it on the game page would help? It also took me a bit of time to realize how the game works and how to gain score - I didn't realize that the itch.io page had more text than the LD one. Other than that, I enjoyed it! My highscore was 96. |
| Oct 3 16:00:45 | 18m 55s | Magus of the Leylines | ♥ 2 | Really nice game! It felt super good playing it - all the interactions made sense and were really fun, especially the fire! It was a bit hard at first, but the first few levels made a nice job of easing you in. I especially liked the last level - I felt really clever when solving it, and with a score of 67 to boot! The opening text was cool too, I loved the contrast between the build-up and the actual levels. It took me a while to understand the score system, and some levels felt like they required a bit too much precision, but other than that, great entry! |
| Oct 3 16:43:06 | 42m 21s | Out of Space | ♥ 2 | Awesome game! While the concept isn't entirely new, it is a very fun one, and you implemented it really well! I ended up winning two free-fire games before I realized it was just endless from that point onwards - the chaotic three-way battles were super fun! The graphics are very cute, and I liked the music & talking sounds. It took me a bit to realize that the size of the planet determined the maximum amount of aliens it could hold, although that did make a lot of sense, so it's probably on me. Displaying the exact number of aliens on each planet and the maximum number it could hold would've helped I think, and I kept missing planets accidentally and sending people on very long and pointless voyages (which was an interesting strategy to avoid hitting the population cap), but otherwise, amazing entry! |
| Oct 3 17:05:58 | 22m 52s | Floodwater | ♥ 1 | Managed to reach under a minute! Speed2.png Anyway, very nice game! It was a pretty unique twist on a sokoban, and you managed to make an impressive amount of mechanics and levels for the time limit. The levels were a bit on the easy side, but the final one still gave me some trouble, so it was fine. I also liked the music and graphics. Some sort of display for when will the water move and when will it not would've helped, but other than that, great entry! |
| Oct 4 14:46:30 | 21h 40m | Rough Weather | ♥ 1 | Very nice game! I really liked the opening cutscene and its SFX. The way that the weather changed when you stepped into another zone was also super cool - especially when it started raining & snowing! All the animations were very smooth too. It was a bit hard to see the mouse cursor in the Rain area, but other than that, great entry! |
| Oct 4 15:03:45 | 17m 15s | To the Starfield: a not-open-world rpg | ♥ 0 | Really nice game! I liked the graphics, and the concept of avoiding loading screens was very unique! I enjoyed the puzzle that it created thanks to the dice roll mechanic, even though I failed at pretty much every point possible before reaching the true ending. It was slightly annoying to redo everything from the beginning after every fail and to remember how many dice rolls you used before, but fixing either would've actually hurt the story, so I'm fine with it. Overall, great entry! |
| Oct 4 16:06:57 | 1h 03m | Micromachines | ♥ 1 | Wow, amazing game! The core mechanic was so, so clever! The moment that you gave me the ability to create my own machines I realized I was in for a treat... and then I got stuck immediately (it was level 2). But after checking your hint, I beat it and realized just how cool this game is! Nevertheless, I couldn't beat level 5 for the life of me - I think I was stuck there for like half an hour before I just gave up... But I eventually skipped it and beat the other levels without too much trouble. The graphics were really slick too. I also got a crash once when building something pretty weird (don't remember what though), but other than that, awesome entry! I spent almost an hour playing it... |
| Oct 4 16:17:58 | 11m 01s | A small town | ♥ 1 | Nice game! The concept & graphics were pretty funny, and I liked how the dead capsules turned into buildings. The game also felt pretty good to play, with high ground actually being very important :) I'm very bad at shooters, so most of the time I just died with 1 kill, but I did manage to get 14 kills and a height of 5 by the end! The enemies were very erratic, making it a bit too hard for me to hit them (but then again, I am generally bad at shooters), but otherwise, great entry! |
| Oct 4 16:42:53 | 24m 55s | Harold's Furry Hazelnut Scurry | ♥ 1 | I found 150 nuts! Amazing.png Anyway, awesome game! I absolutely adored the graphics - both the hamster and the world looked so cute! I had a ton of fun just wandering around the world - the wall climbing mechanic was so good! I honestly would've played a whole game around that mechanic, just wandering around collecting things :) The hollowed out tree trunk was my favorite part. It did take a bit to get used to the tank controls and wonky camera, but it wasn't too bad. The only thing I would've liked is a way to manually rotate the camera when standing still, but otherwise, amazing entry! |
| Oct 4 17:25:47 | 42m 54s | Auto-Pilot | ♥ 1 | Managed to defeat the Titan! It was a close one, though. win.png Anyway, I really enjoyed it! I liked how your ships & space upgrades carried over between waves, creating an interesting choice between upgrading space & repairing ships for future waves vs. filling the space with cheap ships like Scouts for this one. The fact that the bosses used line-based attacks also added interesting choices for ship placement - although, as others have said, the inability to move ships hurt that a bit. The game did feel a bit too random for me: sometimes the boss would attack a single, relatively useless ship, while other times it attacked basically all my ships with a single laser; and the randomized ship selection led to me only getting a cruiser for the first time in the final boss (which wasn't a huge problem, but it made me think that there weren't any 3 cost ships until that point). But other than that, great entry! |
| Oct 4 17:53:59 | 28m 12s | Power signature | ♥ 2 | Really nice game! The moment that I saw the main menu I knew it was going to be good. The graphics are amazing! The game was interesting, I liked all the different abilities and bots that you implemented. I thought that the dog bot was V34-N and panicked when I accidentally left it to die, but the dog was fine in the following cutscenes, so all was good :) It would've been nice to be able to see what each item did before picking it up (although that did add to the mystery aspect, so perhaps not), and the wording of Drop made me think it would just permanently dispose of the item instead of giving them to other bots, but other than that, great entry! |
| Oct 4 18:08:26 | 14m 27s | Bullet Spell | ♥ 1 | Made it to Extreme! Screenshot 2023-10-04 210230.png This was pretty fun! I really liked the graphics & SFX, gave it a great arcade vibe! The game also felt pretty good to play - it was fun trying to approach the enemies without getting hurt. Some enemies felt much stronger than others, however - I was almost never hit by the cross-shaped attack, but the wizards pretty much always gave me trouble. Also, there was a bug where I couldn't change the starting difficulty from the retry screen, and had to refresh the game each time in order to begin on hard. Other than that, great entry! |
| Oct 4 18:50:26 | 42m 00s | The Rock | ♥ 2 | *Spoilers ahead!* The moment I saw that there was an option to simply leave the town doing nothing, I did that for fun. Little did I know that was actually the "good ending"! Anyway, amazing game! This was actually a super cool artstyle - I loved it! The writing was awesome as well - I laughed at a lot of the jokes, and the characters were great! It was very obvious that destroying The Rock was wrong - especially after the 4th-wall-breaking conversation with the witch - but since I already knew what leaving the island does, I went on with it anyway. It was also very evident how much effort went into the dialogue system - from the smooth transitions, to the little pauses during punctuation, the different voices for every character, multiple expressions, a skip button - really great job on that front! I honestly don't really have much feedback to offer. Going back to the town hall to check the inventory every time was slightly annoying, but it also had a lot of charm and definitely didn't matter for a game of this scale. The lack of any reaction or special event after leaving the island - which I know you said wasn't supposed to be the good ending, but it was still heavily implied to be the correct choice in the story - felt a bit weird, but again, I understand that it was a conscious choice. So yeah, overall, awesome entry! |
| Oct 6 17:15:50 | 46h 25m | Norton | ♥ 2 | Wow, amazing game! Gave me massive Transistor vibes, which is one of my favorite games, so I was immediately hooked :) The graphics are seriously awesome - some of the best I've seen in any jam - and the music is super fitting as well! I also really enjoyed the glide mechanic, and the literal Trojan Horses. The final boss was also a pleasent surprise at the end (I had to redo the entire game to beat it due to the disappearing platforms, but still)! I did have a hard time with the isometric platforming, though: I felt that the camera was slightly too zoomed in (I had to perform blind jumps on multiple occasions because I couldn't see the target platform), falling down returning you to the last save instead of the last platform you stood on felt a bit too punishing, and while the shadow below you when above platforms was greatly appreciated, it didn't appear when you were above the air (most of the time) and was slightly too hard to see even above platforms. Still, isometric platforming is hard to get right even for complete games, so it was totally fine for a Compo one :) Nevertheless, I still had fun with it, and it was obvious that most of your time was dedicated to the graphics & mood anyway. Overall, incredible entry! (One final bug report: the music doesn't loop.) |
| Oct 20 20:33:41 | 339h 17m | Portrait of a robot climbing a dystopian megastructure | ♥ 0 | Awesome game! I loved the aesthetic, and the world felt huge - definitely achieved the desired dystopian megastructure vibe! The level design was great too - while I was hopelessly lost the entire game, it was still pretty obvious where I was supposed to go to most of the time, and the grappling sections felt really great to play. The enemies at the end was a very neat surprise, too! The game did feel like it dragged on a bit too long at the beginning, and it was a bit unclear what the goal was, but otherwise, great entry! |
| Oct 20 21:00:43 | 27m 02s | You Are Beach Cop Sign | ♥ 1 | 10/10 protagonist, would be a beach cop sign again. Anyway, really nice game! I loved the concept & humor, and it was surprisingly hard: it took me three tries to complete it - mostly because of the sheer chaos of the beach - but it was fun nonetheless. And the night shift was a very unexpected twist! Actually creeped me out a bit. I didn't notice the red markers once the timer reached the halfway point at first, and the lack of a score display during a game over made it hard to know how close I was to winning, but otherwise, great entry! |
| Oct 20 21:23:39 | 22m 56s | Shelf Shift | ♥ 0 | Managed to get over 1000! Screenshot 2023-10-21 001922.png Anyway, awesome game! This was surprisingly addicting, and it was very fun to discover new strategies and slowly improve my score over various attempts! The physics & rotation felt weird at first, but once I got used the them it was pretty cool! The game also felt very polished. I'm not sure whether the size of the shelf you put the book in affects the score or not, but I found myself always aiming for the biggest holes and pretty much ignoring the small ones. Sometimes books would teleport behind the bookshelf, but otherwise, excellent entry! |
| Oct 20 21:42:59 | 19m 20s | King of the Gloaming Castle | ♥ 1 | Really nice game! I loved the graphics & sound, gave it a very cool vibe. The gameplay was great too - it was pretty chaotic and unpredictable, but in a fun way. I really appreciated the chance to change my upgrades on loss - it was a really unique way to teach the importance of various upgrades: for example, I got stuck in the last level for quite a few tries, until I tried switching my Speed upgrade with a Defense one, which promptly led me to win (I didn't really get the point of defense until then). I did enjoy the levels with the moving light spot more than the stationary ones - mostly because it led to more chaos - but those were also easier, due to the not very smart AI. It took me two levels to realize how to equip upgrades (I kept trying to click on things instead of dragging them), so maybe a tutorial there would've helped, but otherwise, awesome entry! |
| Oct 20 21:58:55 | 15m 56s | Limited Space Game | ♥ 1 | Nice game! I loved the concept of the corpses of enemies becoming walls, and the upgrades being based on the enemies you defeat. The graphics, while simple, had a very clean aesthetic too. I reached wave 7 before "dying", only to realize that you cannot, in fact, die at all, so I continued playing for a few more waves for fun. It was a bit unfortunate that I couldn't remove upgrades (I filled up my capacity in the first 2 waves, so I was unable to get any afterwards), but understandable that you ran out of time. Overall, good entry! |
| Oct 21 11:11:44 | 13h 12m | Daydreams | ♥ 1 | I tried to compile PonyGame, but couldn't include GLEW properly for the life of me :( I kept getting tons of `'__glewDeleteShader' redeclared as different kind of symbol`-style errors when compiling `src/nuklear_impl.c`... At least I managed to compile most of the source without errors. Oh well, I'll just wait for the compiled final version once you finish it I guess. Looking forward to that! |
