| Apr 4 16:21:48 | Sorcery's End | ♥ 2 | Congrats for the gameβοΈ! The furthest I got was level 12, here are some of my thoughts: - I don't know if this was intended, but I really liked how the game would look like after some time when you zoom it completely out. The swarms of insects crawling and getting hit by the strobbing lights were a sight to behold haha. - The game did lag quite a bit after zooming out, though. - The design of the base and the towers were great π - It seemed that I couldn't build towers while the waves were happening. I think this is intended but I was a bit confused at first. My first tactic was to build 1 tower then wait to see where the enemies would come from, but then I got killed really fast haha. - Speaking of which, I think there could be a better "separation" for the "building phase" and the "wave phase", something that could make it clear whether you gotta build towers or sit back and root for success. - The game wasn't very difficult once I got the hang of it, until wave 12 at least. But it was very fun. - I like that the terrain was randomized for every game. - I really loved the music β€οΈ. | |
| Apr 4 16:46:32 | 24m 44s | The pawn's gambit | ♥ 1 | Hey, this game has an incredible mood! βοΈ I was a bit confused why it shows an option to rate for "Humor" but not "Mood" (was it a mistake? English is not my native language so it might be a mistake on my end, too.) I've played for some time, wasn't able to unlock the king though π kept getting "good" scores all the time haha. Here are my thoughts: - I really like the atmosphere and the kill cam. It's very, very stylish. - Adding the chess moves to the mechanics was a super nice touch :) - I've had some issues regarding input feedback. Sometimes I wasn't sure when to start holding the mouse button, or when to let it go. I kinda got the hang of it after some time but never managed to get a "perfect" score. And sometimes I wouldn't know whether I missed the heart or was just too slow to click. - Once I learned the ropes, the game was very fun. Holding the mouse button and focusing on the perfect time to click (and at the exact right spot) had me on edge at all times. Congrats on the entry! |
| Apr 4 17:09:40 | 23m 08s | The Death Pit Will Have You! | ♥ 1 | Hey, I've managed to survive for 85 seconds at most haha π. Congrats for the entry, here are my thoughts: - This game has quite an "Atari" feel (in a good way) but in 3D. - It's simple but pretty fun! - I don't know if it's intentional or not, but I really like that you can sneak between panels diagonally. - I noticed that the panels that fall from the sky can drop straight on holes, making them impossible to catch (this may be intentional though). The game gets considerably harder the less panels you have, because recovering slowly becomes impossible. - It also becomes more interesting to play because you start creating strategies about where you should place the panels to void trapping yourself in an island. However, at times it may seem unfair because lots of panels fall down into the holes without giving you a chance to get them. - The controls are pretty simple and responsive. Good job! |
| Apr 4 22:50:02 | 5h 40m | Starline Rescue Squad | ♥ 1 | Hey, I got some Toe Jam & Earl vibes from this game except electronica instead of funk haha. Though a bit overdone, things pulsating to the beat of the music really helped setting the mood of the game, it really feels like a party in the middle of nowhere π I agree with neon as my biggest issue with the game were the ship physics and input feedback. Sometimes the ship just seemed to fly away for no apparent reason and I had to really fight the controls to get it back where I wanted it. Oh, and I had a real nice time vibing to the music π. Thanks! |
| Apr 4 23:43:22 | 53m 20s | The Last Line | ♥ 1 | I loved the gun customization feature! I can definitely see this kind of mechanic being improved upon, as seen in some really interesting games such as Noita and Nova Drift. One thing that may have made the game impossible for me at later waves is the indestructible "husk" the enemies leave behind. However, that might have been an oversight of mine not to try and accumulate +explosion or something. I had a lot of fun playing this one overall, good job! Oh, and the fact that you can physically see the attachments on your gun is a super nice touch. |
| Apr 5 00:02:57 | 19m 35s | Alloy Song | ♥ 4 | I loved the effects and the logo. As Swen said, a skip button would be great because I also kept dying over and over again π . I also enjoyed the mood of the game and the storytelling overall. I'm not sure if there's a way to "predict" what outcome the actions will carry, or if it's a matter of retrying until you know all the right answers. The choices reminded me of that Mario Party train minigame "End of the Line" where you have to choose the right path without really knowing the correct one, which can sometimes be frustrating, but in the end I think your game made up for it by its cool way of telling a story (I would play more if there was a skip button though haha) Cool entry, good job! |
| Apr 5 00:29:56 | 26m 59s | No Time To Leave | ♥ 2 | I love the fact that you can only hold one object, because sometimes you just want to rush to the towers but if you do that in an area you haven't been before, there might be some enemies which will make your job much harder to do without a gun. π Pretty cool entry, the design of the enemy is sick and the mechanics are interesting. Controls are pretty good as well, and the game is very fun to play. Great job! **Spoilers:** ~~I'm so happy that the game has an ending. The self-destruction is inevitable and yes you can delay it, but that doesn't mean you cannot make your way to an escape pod and get out :)~~ |
| Apr 5 00:49:13 | 19m 17s | MAGICAL JUGGLER EXTRAORDINAIRE | ♥ 1 | Everything was so well put together, great job! Having such unique spells really opens up different playstyles (wind magic for the win π¬) and oh my god I'm so bad at the game haha. Also, it's impressive that this game looks so complete. That feeling of "Oh, this has potential but the time just wasn't there to make it" is completely absent. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 01:11:37 | 22m 24s | Gone Out West | ♥ 1 | Like everyone else said, there are a lot of different systems in place π.I don't know if it's because I found combat controls somewhat difficult to manage, but that made me consider the letter delivering/healing portion of the game much more enjoyable. It's also kinda bittersweet that you're delaying the inevitable (her death) which makes you trapped in an neverending life of fighting bandits and delivering letters. I know a lot of people would do the same. It IS a bit overwhelming at the start. Oh, and the fact that the combat was "optional" because of the resting mechanic was actually good for me, because I could focus on the letters haha. Good job with this entry! |
| Apr 5 01:29:09 | 17m 32s | Crystal Castle | ♥ 1 | The graphics on this game are so cute! It took me a while to figure out what was happening (and why I couldn't move). When it striked me that I couldn't move to places without walls, I started having a lot of fun doing the levels because everything suddenly became more responsive (I still think there might be a movement bug though) The music does get a little annoying after some time. The game is also veeery speedrunnable haha, I found myself trying to beat the levels as quickly as possible. I think you could keep working on this, it's a neat puzzle. Great job! |
| Apr 5 01:52:49 | 23m 40s | DEFCON 0 | ♥ 1 | It's interesting that you have to choose which cities to defend because some of them could severely impact your ability to keep playing (example: losing a silo or losing camberra which means a brutal cooldown increase). I like the tactics behind figuring out if a city will survive an attack and whether you should take it so you're able to defend a more important target later. Having to type the commands also means that you could make mistakes and fail defending a city haha, which is a good thing - adds to the challenge I think. What bugged me a bit is that you don't really get rewarded for anything and you can't replenish anything - can't get extra spies, repair cities, etc. Maybe it's just not the point of the game, but I felt that it was so hopeless that the best course of action would just let everything be destroyed π Nice work! |
| Apr 5 12:08:01 | 10h 15m | LifeWasterβ’ | ♥ 2 | I loved this one. The theme, the humour, everything just clicks (heh). The music also fits perfectly (I like that each option has its own music). "Live enough to make us rich" resonates so hard haha - as some people have commented, the social commentary is on point. Really good job, had a lot of fun. Thanks! |
| Apr 6 11:55:45 | 23h 47m | Warming up! | ♥ 2 | I think I got pretty far! warmingup.png Such a charming game, I absolutely love the effects (from the fireballs and clouds) and the controls are tight! My strategy was to let a side of the arena go (so I'd only defend the right side, for example), and then jumping around and trying to catch and throw the fires before they even reach the snow. Really good job, it was so fun to play π |
| Apr 6 12:29:33 | 33m 48s | The Hunger | ♥ 1 | I've survived for 9 days in total! This is a rather unique game, in a sense that traditional rules for these card games are completely different from what you need to do in this one. Sometimes it's better to drain blood earlier because you're dying, sometimes it's better to try to leave them with as little health as possible. Also, the fact that you have to be aware to not kill them by accident is a very fun mechanic. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the visual feedback on the blood drain button (or the lack thereof). Other than that, the game was really solid and fun to play. Great job! |
| Apr 6 13:21:11 | 51m 38s | BLACKSUN | ♥ 1 | Very creative, gorgeous art style, and quite enjoyable to play! I made it to 688 days. Got a little carried away getting more villagers and missed the objectives, then it was too late to recover haha blacksun.png |
| Apr 6 23:00:56 | 9h 39m | Tick Tack | ♥ 1 | I agree with quinn, the game is still pretty fun but there was a lot of potential there in the notes you've written, multiple ways to cheat, limited time, the ability to rewind, etc. I'm curious to see what you would do with this had you had more time. And I must say, very good job delivering a jam game using your own engine, congrats! |
| Apr 6 23:57:33 | 56m 37s | Pax Nebulae | ♥ 1 | I really like this genre, it's the kind of game that can take you away for hours on end π The world music was very nice, the battle one kinda got a bit repetitive. There was one time the game froze during battle, I had a lot of fun playing nonetheless. Exploring the world was a fun experience, and I see a lot of potential in games like this. Neat work! |
| Apr 7 00:06:56 | 9m 23s | Ludum Dare 50 | ♥ 1 | Made it to 49 years at my second attempt haha (got only to 28 in my first one) theater-of-life.png Quite interesting art style, the music really sets the mood, and the gameplay was pretty creative! Good Job! |
| Apr 7 00:34:43 | 27m 47s | Deck the Zombies | ♥ 1 | Cool concept, it's like Plants vs Zombies meets Slay the Spire π The cards are interesting, the zombies are cute and the game is very fun to play! I think it becomes too difficult too fast, I kept trying different tactics to see if I could kill more zombies but going 1000+ was a hard task haha. My best was 1438: deckthezombies.png I think targeting was kinda of an issue because I couldn't do much after the arena became crowded: Catapult and Firestorm would become as useless as throw rock. The real MVPs in those times were overpower + mirror + shoot, and overpower + knight, since they would usually help with the nearby fellows. Laser X is super good at the beginning, but late game it doesn't even make a dent haha. Anyway I see a lot of potential in this, had fun playing, great work! |
| Apr 7 00:43:36 | 8m 53s | Quackenfarm | ♥ 1 | Such interesting game! Polished and addictive. Great work π |
| Apr 7 01:01:27 | 17m 51s | Meteodate | ♥ 1 | The dialogue is incredible, great work! Had a good time playing the game. (I also tried so hard to find a log haha) |
| Apr 7 01:28:18 | 26m 51s | A Thousand Islands, and One | ♥ 1 | It's always delightfully peculiar to see procedurally generated stuff in games, and I dig the style of this one. Interesting entry! |
| Apr 7 02:17:54 | 49m 36s | Carpentangle | ♥ 1 | This is a very creative puzzle, and a super polished game! Great job! |
| Apr 7 02:39:49 | 21m 55s | Don't Melt | ♥ 1 | A nice map with lots of things! I like the concept of this game, the powerups, secrets, the exploration, I can imagine an interesting collectathon with small maps and a "kinda rushed" gameplay, something like THPS except it's a snowman trying to survive instead of skateboarding haha. Great job jogy. I couldn't handle the camera at first and I'm so so glad that the game had options to change it π |
| Apr 7 11:02:54 | 8h 23m | Brush it Up! | ♥ 1 | Very creative entry, kory! Totally unique. After playing I also wanted to rush and go brush my teeth. Great job on this piece. I had some troubles with the controls but having multiple cameras helped. The brushing sounds are quite satisfying, and the music is super catchy as well! |
| Apr 8 00:19:24 | 13h 16m | Heat Death | ♥ 1 | Hey, this game is hella addictive π heatdeath.png I must confess though, I too had to watch the tutorial to be able to play the game. There are some UI issues, and there's this thing with the camera: It seems to operate differently depending on where you are on the globe. But wow it's incredibly cool to play the game and after some time it becomes super chill. I love this genre (I've played some Satisfactory, still gonna get my hands on Factorio one day), and the fact that this was done in 48h is nothing short of impressive. You've done a lot in such a short time. I played it for over an hour! Great job. |
| Apr 8 00:31:29 | 12m 05s | Cave companion | ♥ 0 | Got to the end! I think this idea has some real potential, and the visuals are pretty nice. Though the controls are a bit rigid, the camera is on point, and the golem is adorable. Well done! cavecompanion.png |
| Apr 8 02:10:19 | 1h 38m | Garden War | ♥ 1 | Cool game! Kept trying to see if I could get far, and well, I think I got an incredible tactic nailed down by now haha: hotdog.png Seems a pretty simple and minimalistic strategy π I only used wooden fences and catapults for defense, and I had to try and position them in a "clever" way to stack as many people as I could near the catapults and wreck them all together. Then I just started stashing money because even the wooden fences wouldn't get destroyed seeing as everyone was just dying so fast. Good job on this entry! I've played a lot! |
| Apr 8 02:35:11 | 24m 52s | Sisyphus - The Game | ♥ 1 | Hey, super cool art style, and this is a very creative game. It was a bit hard to try and "predict" what would happen with the obstacles, so, as other people said, there was a lot of trial and error, which sometimes got a bit frustrating. But I think it is a neat puzzle idea, and despite some gameplay issues this entry is very polished! Great job! |
| Apr 8 02:50:00 | 14m 49s | Pooh-Pooh | ♥ 1 | Interesting game, I loved the music. Regarding difficulty, the second level was hard but feasible, but the third one was particularly frustrating because the circles would spawn right on top of me, giving almost no time for reaction. Kudos for the very exquisite (and creative) interpretation of the theme π |
| Apr 8 03:02:41 | 12m 41s | Chronolapse | ♥ 1 | The visuals are incredible, and so is the music - The game is very aesthetically pleasing. I couldn't manage to get a grip of the controls, though, I fell down a lot and wasn't able to progress haha. Anyhow, I think the concept is pretty cool, precision platforming with a time limit and whimsical environments. This game gives a dear nostalgia feel as well, kudos for that. Very cool entry, good job! |
| Apr 8 03:22:23 | 19m 42s | Drowsy Drop | ♥ 4 | The visuals are top-notch. I really liked that every descent became more and more eerie until we were on a full blown nightmare. The soundtrack is pretty good as well. The controls kinda bothered me at the beginning, but what was a bit frustrating to me is that the game itself was very unforgiving. One false move and I was down a floor with little chance to recover. Other than that, I was rather impressed by the amount of different objects and their details. Good job! |
| Apr 8 03:57:42 | 35m 19s | My Last Hanami | ♥ 1 | So many levels, super polished game, I loved the graphics and the soundtrack. The puzzles and abilities are simple but interesting, and the controls are pretty good. I think I get what you mean that the theme is in the narrative, but I believe it went the opposite direction? The spirits are having their passage delayed and you have to help then part by restoring the trees, so you're actually "undelaying" the inevitable π Really solid entry, well done! |
| Apr 8 04:10:56 | 13m 14s | Awakening | ♥ 1 | Haha why do I feel so attacked π Emails, silly mobile games, random apps, videos and news - and there goes my first 2 hours of the day! Cool game, I like the visuals. Pretty moody. |
| Apr 8 12:02:17 | 7h 51m | Overwhelmed | ♥ 1 | Cool puzzle and very cute visuals! The controls were a bit unresponsive, maybe mouse controls would've worked better here. I found that moving using two buttons at a time (like pressing DW to go northeast or SA to go southwest) worked better than just using one button. Nice entry, I really dig the art. |
| Apr 8 12:14:27 | 12m 10s | Don't Wake Azathoth! | ♥ 1 | Pretty fun game! The visuals are great and the controls work really well. I have a question, is the music procedurally generated? Or maybe it's a combination of patterns in which you randomize things like tempo, pitch, etc? I've noticed that the notes seem to be random but the music changed from time to time as well. Using colors to emphasize certain things in B&W visuals is something I've done in my entry as well, and it works so well! I also like the effects when you hit the notes. I enjoyed this one a lot, great work! |
| Apr 8 14:03:53 | 1h 49m | Anomalous | ♥ 1 | Cool concept! I like the visuals, and the controls and gameplay are good. There's a world of possibilities with this idea of using weapons just to stagger enemies. The game could be based on stalling long enough to go to the next level, maybe the city is out to be destroyed but you have the mission to gather the maximum amount of monsters before they blow everything up or something. Anyway, interesting project! Good job! |
| Apr 9 11:33:25 | 21h 29m | Chronos | ♥ 1 | Neat puzzle! I really like the aging aspect, how the sprite changes as you get older. Great job! |
| Apr 9 11:43:20 | 9m 55s | Boxed In | ♥ 1 | Hey, super fun game! It's simple but very creative and the claustrophobic aspect really works haha. I enjoyed the fact that the game becomes way more intense the smaller the box is (because you can reach more crystals, but also have less time) Great entry! |
| Apr 9 22:22:19 | 10h 38m | Crows | ♥ 1 | The visuals of this game are incredible, and so is the soundtrack. Top marks for mood as well! I just got a bit confused if my actions could carry different results or not. I thought that I had to understand the provided information in order to "predict" where I should move my people to stall their death. (That was not the point, was it? haha) Perhaps this is a personal issue since english is not my mother tongue, but I kept reading the info on the main screen and the ending one, and I'm not sure if I get the twist. Kudos for the atmosphere! |
| Apr 9 22:35:46 | 13m 27s | Mighty Crossroad | ♥ 1 | Interesting puzzle game! I like the voice acting haha. It's a little confusing at first (and particularly hard but maybe this is just me being dumb π ), and I agree with everyone else regarding the possibility to rotate pieces. The graphics are lovely and you get points for creativity. Good job! |
| Apr 9 22:53:20 | 17m 34s | Tominrigg Tactics | ♥ 1 | Super cool game, it's impressive that you managed to make a tactics game in such a short time with interesting graphics and soundtrack. I like that the objective of the game was not killing the monsters per se (focusing on them is not a good idea), it gives an interesting twist to the genre. One thing that bothered me a bit was the fact that enemies could pass through you, so trying to block the passage with your characters is a fruitless strategy when trying to save villagers. Also, after enough turns you have to wait so long for your turn because there are so enemies. The short catchphrases for the units were a really nice addition and they help give character to them. Great job! |
| Apr 9 23:17:39 | 24m 19s | Fuse Lit! | ♥ 1 | This game is FUN. I couldn't stop playing until I figured out how to beat all levels. Such a cool puzzle. Great job! |
| Apr 9 23:26:02 | 8m 23s | Snowmageddon | ♥ 0 | Hahaha the E button! I like this entry, it's a fun escort mission game! Does the carrot cursor do anything? I think I was fooling myself into believing that the carrot attracted the penguins somehow (that's not the case, right? π ) Cool game |
| Apr 9 23:41:39 | 15m 37s | The Pit | ♥ 1 | I love this idea, great job! I think I'd be nice to move a tad bit faster so we could get more coins (maybe the shop could be more expensive then, to balance it), but this is a very fun game nonetheless! The tutorial is a good addition, especially because it provides good humor π I like that you can use your coins to improve the next runs as well, it improves replayability by a lot. |
| Apr 9 23:58:31 | 16m 52s | Battle of the Alamo | ♥ 1 | This game has a super fun gameplay, even under a bleak background. The visuals are consistent, and while I'm not very into games about war, I think it's very interesting that this game is based on a real historical event. I'd love to see a full fledged version of a game like this. Great job frosty. |
