LD37 — One room

SANTA'S ONE ROOM by cjke.7777 2016-12-12T09:59:00

Amazing entry! Love the music, graphics and the whole idea of punching elves into the hut. This is solid 5/5.

Royal Rise (Online Multiplayer) by thebrickanator 2016-12-12T20:54:00

Download link is broken.

A bank is a dangerous place by JK5000 2016-12-12T10:49:00

Had some fun even with 3 FPS. Nice gameplay idea and implementation, but the performance is a huge issue.

Faucet by AlmightyTuna 2016-12-12T22:13:00

Pros:
- The game looks pretty, effects are awesome
- Mood 5/5
- Nice sound and music

Cons:
- The game stuck on the last screen (most likely it's by design, but still, something like ending credits would be fine)

Kitchen Invasion! by zinexo 2016-12-12T21:46:00

Pros:
- Fun game mechanics (saving upgrades)
- Nice sound effects

Cons:
- Had some weird graphic glitches (blinking triangles all over the screen sometimes)
- Purple orbs are quickly disappearing (why should they?)
- No feedback on taking/dealing damage
- Upgrades could have titles (it took some time to understand what the 3rd upgrade does)
- Had zombies spawn right on top of me

LD39 — Running out of Power

Clumsy Clemens in Space by phi 2017-08-17T01:57:52Z

One of the best compo entries I've seen so far. It took me a couple of tries to accomplish the task, but it was a great fun to play this game.

Great job!

Mars Escape by lukethecoder64 2017-08-16T22:29:17Z

Love the overall exploration idea, but unfortunately was unable to find an escape pod in that mountains. Got to the end of canyon, got a lot of batteries and even managed to get up the cliff (though it looked to me a bit "hacky"), but it wasn't enough to get to the mountains to find more.

#### What I liked * **The game is not that hard** in the beginning (compared to a lot of other LD entries, including my own ) and gives player some ability to explore. * More or less **nice graphics** (the lava effect is neat). * **Terrain at the beginning** (before caves) and partially at the canyon doesn't look boring.

#### What could be better * **Some parts of the map** could have more batteries to make exploration a bit more feasible (so you don't run out of power just because you've chosen the wrong direction). * **Caves and end-game terrain could be more realistic** (especially end-game mountains) or, atleast, more detailed. Caves are looking very similar to each other so it's easy to get lost there. I could suggest make all caves go only deeper, so player will be able to get out just going upwards. And more unique details also could improve that. * The game severely lacks **the checkpoint system**, so the player don't have to start over from the beginning if he ran out of power just in two meters from escape pod.

#### What doesn't make sense in my opinion * If **sprinting** does not consume any kind of "resource" (stamina, battery, etc), but allows me to go faster (so consume less power per meter) - why should I release Shift key at all? Therefore, you can just make player go faster in the first place and remove run mechanic completely. Or, if you add some "stamina" or make running drain battery, you should also add some mechanics, where using sprint will be crucial (e.g. some enemies you have to run from or something like that), otherwise it will be used constantly again (if you choose "stamina" mechanic, player will just use it every time stamina bar is full, because average speed will still be better, than if player will just walk), or it will not be used at all as it will be wasteful (like a flashlight) * **Flashlight**. It doesn't make sense as you don't need it in caves at all (although, maybe I was facing some kind of a bug or graphical issue). Yes, it is more convinient with flashlight turned on, but it consumes the battery, so as long as it's not black screen in caves, player will not use it.

#### Overall Overall good and fun game, that could have some more love to make it better. The idea of the game is clear and the game is more or less addictive. Will be nice to see this game more polished as post-LD version.

The Factory by Jack D. Taylor 2017-08-04T08:59:45Z

Kosmo, thanks for your comment. Yeah, for the in-game tutorial I've forgotten to mention Shift and Space before submission (actually, initially it was missing at LD page too, because I've probably been thinking about WASD more like "everything you normally do in shooters").

Regarding the boxes - I've planned to add a minimap in game with rough location of these boxes, but haven't been able to manage that in time. And power lines to buildings were also planned, but again, I've missed it by just a couple of hours. However, my time-management this LD was a lot better, than the previous ones, so hopefully next time I will be able to manage these little pieces of convenience in time.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Overweight by Jack D. Taylor 2017-12-07T20:48:55Z

Thanks for your response, Raven. Yeah, maybe the spacebar-thing is not the greatest idea now that I think of it. I wanted to add some additional challenge with this, so you not only had to avoid bullets, but also **trying** to keep the plane flying the way you want. However I'm pretty sure I could've made that more responsive and satisfying for the player.

Regarding both the theme question and the 4-8 question: as I stated above, I've ran out of time too quickly unfortunately, so the game is really unfinished and even the core gameplay lacks a lot of planned features.

The initial idea was that you spend some initial money on different parts (engines, armored hull, better guns), and the more parts/features/benefits you have - the heavier the plane gets and therefore it's worse for player to have _more better_ plane.

So you shouldn't have all three guns from the start, it's what I've done to somehow vary the poor gameplay I've come up with at the end of Compo.

I'll add the initial idea to the post to make this clear.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

TINY PACK by xk_the_name 2024-10-08T06:10:16Z

Absolutely loved the game! Very interesting, yet simple to grasp mechanic, great audio and cute graphics.

Autumn Picnic by Gao Ming 2024-10-11T12:08:06Z

OMG it's the cutiest game I've ever played!

Attack on The Piper by kiv 2024-10-09T19:00:49Z

Love the dialogs, very funny and neat

Tiny Turf Tussle by Alchemic 2024-10-08T08:05:50Z

Nice game, too bad that you've got only 10 rounds, because it is at that time when the real fun just begins

BOULISH - straf'in the city by knarf 2024-10-08T14:11:39Z

Nice vibe and handling, although WASD support would've been better (got funky arrows on my laptop, very inconvenient for these kind of things)

Tiny Mushy Froggies by BitLuderRb7804Fr 2024-10-08T20:05:31Z

Love the visuals, jumping is a bit hard to get used to, but this is one of those games where losing is also fun (because of visuals). Great job!

Soot & Stinker by CodeRaurus 2024-10-08T05:35:30Z

Neat graphics, but the gameplay gets samey quickly, you just repeat the same "run to a block, wait for sock to stop above, run up/down a bit" over and over.

Liked the music and sound effects though!

Colony by Arscene 2024-10-08T15:56:33Z

10 Rimworlds out of 10, built a self-sustaining cannibal colony feeding on own eggs :D

Amazing game, I spent literally the whole evening playing it! It is like any base-building game stripped to the barebone mechanic, totally love the concept and visuals.

Kanker Killer by Pirate-Rob 2024-10-09T10:44:19Z

The idea with organ-modifying is amazing, it definitely worth trying to release this as a full-scale project with proper player onboarding, save/load and stuff. It is very impressive how you've managed to put together so much content in just 48 hours, it's basically two whole games. Great job, hope you'll make this mechanic into a full game!

Mice Cage / 鼠笼 by Xlores Liang 2024-10-07T10:41:20Z

Amazing game! Love the plot and the music, neat drawings and overall idea and atmosphere.

Discovered Endings 1, 2 and 4, but was unable to get Ending 3, out of curiosity looked it up in the CSV :)

Become A Hundred Thousandaire Or Have Fun Trying by AdamG 2024-10-09T07:26:03Z

Had a lot of fun playing, although after getting all upgrades the game becomes a bit tedious. Great entry!

NebuLeet Troopers by quasilyte 2024-10-08T10:25:26Z

Interesting game with a good complexity for a compo game.

Liked the mechanic with tactic picking, although it makes everything a bit unpredictable. Kinda miss some verbosity, like a list of tactics which are planned for the next phases on the battle screen, a list of already picked tactics while picking (both by me and AI, so that you don't have to remember it).

Let's eat Grandma. by Yoav Kagan 2024-10-08T12:40:18Z

Great game, finally someone cares about commas! :D

Love the visual style, sounds and overall concept

A Story of Steebs by BrotherBrody 2024-10-08T20:45:12Z

Very cute puzzle game, very well-polished for a compo entry, great job!
