Newgrounds still exists? Lol. I don't know if that was more of a surprise than finding this. It's a nice puzzler/platformer type game. Love the music and sounds. The arrow pointing out where to go was a nice touch too. Nice job!
Loved the palette and the gameboy vibes (I just got done with the game boy game jam before this, lol). The art was pretty good too, though it could've used some polish on some things that just stood out (the black outline on the roof for instance seemed noticeably off to me). Controls were a little weird with trying to direct that square to where i wanted it without missing plots of lands in the farm, for instance, at first, but I got around that easily enough. Loved the setup you made for "discovering the game" worked out nicely. I'll have to come back for more, as I haven't finished yet.
It's a lot for a jam, that's for sure. Art could use some unification, maybe using a free asset pack or being drawn in the same style. It's a neat concept though, reminds me of a few games wrapped into one, and the take on the theme is nice too.
It looks neat at first glance, but could use some visual overhauling in small bits if you wanted to make this a full game. There's some mixels where some assets appear higher def than others, which is a little offputting. I'd also get stuck on things, maybe collision boxes were off? I'm not sure how gamemaker does those to know. Still, it's enjoyable to walk around in and listen to. A lot for a first game, so I think you've learned the value of scope for game jams (especially ones where we get only 3 days). It's neat for what we do get.
Took a moment, but I got up to almost 1600 before they started only wanting cat meows and I couldn't find that. I took out all the cassettes and it still kept going up, unsure if that's intended, or if there's an end. Still, neat take on the theme. Graphics were nice and the sounds as well, especially as a fan of metal (not that I've heard your band before). Good job!
I like this take on the theme. I did have a few graphical glitches that followed me, where some old collectors and some random lines showed up from the left in further levels. But it's solid gameplay and still worked despite seeing the old guys sitting there. I would've liked either a little more tower variety or powerups as you progressed, because it's the same gameplay until the end when you figured it out. Maybe a fast forward for time would've helped there too. Still, it's a neat little game, and played well!
The controls on this are INSANE. No idea how you came up with that. I started off wanting to be able to move faster and then quickly realized how much I'd hate that, lol. I wasn't expecting any of this just jumping into it. I do think that maybe the controls outshined the theme, but otherwise, it's a well done game. Good job!
Neat take on it, reminds me of the Atari/Commodore 64 era for sure. Honestly, I've no idea what improvements I could offer for it, it's really good. It was nice trying to maneuver so the snakes got stuck in areas so I could get past them. Strangely, just powering through got me it on my first try, trying to play without losing HP was much harder, lol. Good job!
It's a simple game, I got lucky in that like for 4 in a row, he just wanted rock, lol. Sounds good and plays good, well done! I'm still not sure which pockets he had that could fit that many cassettes though, lol. JNCOs? Those were around for CDs though I think?
I'm not sold on the UI or the theme fitting in, but the music was really good and it was easy enough to follow once I realized I could replay the messages. And the music was... really good.
I don't know if you ever played Robo Rally, the board game, and I get there's no arena combat with glitches, but this gave me the vibes of that old board game. I liked it. The whole experience is pretty well done. Great job!
A solid first game, and a compo!? I would've liked some music or sounds, for sure. It took me a second to get used to the floating jump as I moved, but that was overcome after a little bit. I do think it would've benefited form a full screen mode or something, at first I didn't realize the ducks were carrying guns, lol. It could've also used maybe a level counter, so you'd know how far you had left to go to complete. It got harder the more ducks and larger levels there were, maybe the ducks off screen shouldn't be allowed to shoot? Still, a great job getting all of this in for the compo!
It's a neat idea for the jam, for sure. Didn't expect it at all. I'm mostly glad you didn't include having X lives, lol, it took a moment to figure out what to do on each. I spent way longer on the pac man version than I would've liked to admit, but once I saw what was going on there, I realized how I'd have to play the rest of the levels and it just clicked. Good job!
This might be the most original concept I've seen in a game yet, lol. I'm not sure if I would've liked music added or not, still torn on that, but I was definitely hooked using it. Great job!
First of all, beautiful, sounds great too. The teleporting mechanic the shadows did might be a little too cruel? like maybe I should get a little more time to move out of the way after they appear? There were just a few parts with small jumping areas they seemed to really get me at. Still, it's a great little game. I liked it
I didn't quite feel the theme coming through, but the game's nicely done. It may need some balancing as it seemed too easy to not need to hit the table or use the hammer, but the gameplay loop is nice enough and I ended up winning. Art's nice, music fits in nicely too. Loved the voice acting parts. Pretty good job overall!
I don't really feel the theme on this, but it's a neat little game. I appreciate that it's rounds are short, controls are well done and that it feels polished overall.
The UI could use a little overhaul. It feels very basic in that, which is offputting given how much stuff there is in the game. It's also a lot for a jam game. I would've liked some sounds, since it's not a quick little game and there's a lot in it, it's noticeable that it's missing even a "click" sound.
I've not played a tower defense that's got just one simple U shape like this dock, but it works. It plays well for a bit and is a good little jam game. If you were to want to make a game like this into a bigger game, it'd need a bit of variety or maybe waves with some pauses to rearrange stuff or sell off stuff. But as a jam game with 3 days? It's nice. Real nice. 1/10 on realism, but way better on being a great little tower defense.
It's simple, well made, no bugs, has nice visual effects and sound effects that are engaging. I'm not even mad there's no music, since it's educational, I feel like this works well as is. It'd be a nice little game for a school for sure. Well done!
Oooh, it's very complex, a lot of stuff going on for a little jam game. I dig the vibes though. I could probably stay playing something like this for hours, which would be, extremely unfair to the rest of the jam if I did 😄. The looks and the music feel very space-y, for sure.
If I were to offer improvements, the tutorial didn't feel too helpful, because there was just so much going on. It didn't feel like there were baby steps being made as I went through it, but just a lot to try and memorize at once before I even made it to the game proper.
You definitely nailed the creepy horror you were going for. I'm a very bad doctor, at least at first, until I figured out how to move that dial slowly. I think the page could've used some instructions, but I figured it out after clicking in random spots. Good job.
It looks great and sounds great, but seems a little buggy on levels 6 and 10. 6 required me lighting a beacon that was successful though it didn't hit the attack position and none of the beacons ever panned out for me on 10. But man, it looks good.
