10/10 broken arcade energy.
the 3D cabinet around a slightly off pac-man maze is a neat frame. only played the first maze briefly, a line on what's broken about each game would make the idea land harder
immediately my mind went here https://youtu.be/v2NFl86LX3Q?t=173 (i think i cant add links? bloodhoundgang - mope - 2mins 50s
I almost though the game was just broken but in the first arcade machine my keyboard did not work since the game registered only my controller inputs, once i realized that it was because of that i could play through nicely and the keyboard inputs worked fine in other levels.
This was really fun to play, nice absurdism and humor with great atmosphere and twists. I liked the block game most and i think that concept in itself could work as a jam game inits self.
It's a devious idea to put *spoiler* in your game. I can't stop playing!
Oh man, I absolutely loved this! This gave me some heavy 2000s fangame vibes, in the most complimentary possible way (and that fits the theme of old tech even harder)
I only have two pieces of minor feedback to offer. The first is that the glitch effect was a bit too intense at times, and started making the game unpleasant to play in places. I don't have any photosensitivity issues, but I could definitely see that causing problems for someone who does.
The only gameplay critique that I can offer is with the Pacman stage - The controls there felt rough, and the goal of getting 25 points was in and of itself a very difficult starting challenge. This might have been a skill issue, but I had to retry that stage about 30ish times before I finally beat it. It was by far the hardest part of the game for me.
I'm glad I stuck through it though, because minor nitpicks aside, I loved what you made :) Great job overall!
That's an interesting way to learn that I suck at pacman :D Nice spooky vibe. I wish there was a bit more story to it!
The Pac-Man part really surprised me. Nice job!
I'm glad you gents didn't pick more litigious companies IPs to rip off. 😄
This was definitely the most unique and interesting game I've played this jam!
Torilla tavataan and all that.
@xedur Yea we are hoping they don't come after us!
Really enjoyed it! Cool concept and great game for this theme.
Game of the second!
It's a neat idea for the jam, for sure. Didn't expect it at all. I'm mostly glad you didn't include having X lives, lol, it took a moment to figure out what to do on each. I spent way longer on the pac man version than I would've liked to admit, but once I saw what was going on there, I realized how I'd have to play the rest of the levels and it just clicked. Good job!
This game reminds me of Pony Island, where you have to complete a bunch of different minigames, and it's really fun haha. When I was playing the Mario level, I noticed the level design starting to change and thought, "Wait, this looks like the kind of tunnel you'd see in a flappy-bird-like game." And the next level was flappy Bird! That really got me lol. Very nice transition lol.
The Tetris one might has a lot of potential to be expanded into something bigger. Maybe for local co-op game...? Just random thought haha. Anyway nice entry!
Had a blast in the Tetris portion! I'm a bit of a Tetris fan and it was both fun and weird to intentionally try to get as many rows high as possible, lol. The rest of the gameplay was generally good, and reminded me a little bit of IWBTG (especially at the end with the surprise Pacman from the left, lol). Cool entry!
This is really fun—well done! I love the concept of revisiting a series of arcade games, each with its own little twist. My favorite was the Tetris version. Congratulations!
One of the most unique games I have played this Jam. Loved all of the games. Really nice experience and nice match for the theme. Great job guys!
