Turn-based, gameboy Stardew Valley. I enjoyed it..well done.
Someone told me they were impressed by how I managed to create my jam games in such a short period of time, but this is on a whole other level. This will take time and effort to play through. Nicely done!
really good and complete game use unique gba UI, i like chess part in this farm game.
Thanks for the nice comments. There are alot of secrets in this game still to discover ...
Really fun idea with great visual atmosphere! Love the color scheme.
Enjoyed what I played. I'm think I've gotten myself stuck.
!> The world is 3D now (meaning you had to make the world twice! in completely different formats!). I'm not sure how much is attributable to ringing the bell vs meeting the person(?) underground vs eating(?) the non-turnip glitch entity. I've received and decoded a radio transmission. None of the trees seems intractable. I'm guessing it's time to "go back between world states though unfortunate events", probably to get back in the cave and to that object that wanted me to enter words. I don't think I can grow another not-a-turnip and the bell is silent. I started trying to parkour off of objects to see if there were any secrets hidden in the new z-axis, and I found out you can walk on top of the lakes if you jump onto them from something else, but now I'm stuck in a little patch of grass in the corner opposite my house, blocked from returning home by water on one side and foliage on the other.
Okay! Wow I almost quit this twice but it kept bugging me! way to nail the atmosphere! Once I got softlocked when my inventory filled up, then I had to sleep on the meaning of the final puzzle. Had a great time with this. Really impressive.
@jacobwinters Oh no! I think you might be stuck
Spoiler: !> To get back to the 2D world, you need to have a look behind the house in 3D, there is something to see there.
OKAY... OKAY... for those who see a stardew valley... KEEP PLAYING I know it is hard with all the other games to play, but please push on. This game had a twist I didn't see coming. I have been playing this WAY longer than I should have and intend to come back to it. I have the tab kept open to finish it as I have a few key items and have been blown away. Give this one the time! This is excellent.
The whole “found a weird cartridge in the bush” setup is great haha. I love the muted colours and the little farmer. Mixing that innocent-looking farming game with hints that something isn't quite right is a really cool idea.
Wow, what an awesome game, loved the art and sound design! You managed to pack so much content into it, that's impressive
At first, the game looked like a cute gameboy version of stardew valley, with slightly worst controls (Figuring out the controls was a difficult task), but man the twist, incredible ! So much work and effort into this game, its so cool ! (Also, thanks for the hint, I was stuck in the same place as jacobwinter)
Really cool entry, I like the Inscryption vibe, from the real world narrative setting to the mechanical twist. Really impressive amount of content given the time. I got one issue though after using the antenna dish, I think I pressed escape and was not able to get mouse control back when re-clicking the game. Must be an issue with how itch.io handles the mouse. Apart from that, amazing game, best entry I played so far.
Creepy, man. I should have seen the Inscryption reference coming when you "found" a game in the mountains, but I didn't. Gg.
Created a new save, sped through the parts I'd seen before, and now I've seen the ending. Liked it a lot. And thanks for sharing the story of how you found the cartridge; it adds a lot to the experience, knowing how I came to be playing this game.
I enjoyed your game.
A top-down, pixel-art game full of mysteries? Exactly the kind of thing I like. I have to admit, I haven’t figured out the 8 words to open the door yet, so I’ve kept my save file—I definitely want to finish it.
I got quite a start the first time I encountered the mysterious figure! The same goes for when the game shifts its "system." By the way, the art is beautiful! Even when it changes, it remains pixel art—a lovely aesthetic that really brings to mind classic, old-school games.
Congratulations on a fantastic game. I’ll keep playing until I reach the end.
Loved the palette and the gameboy vibes (I just got done with the game boy game jam before this, lol). The art was pretty good too, though it could've used some polish on some things that just stood out (the black outline on the roof for instance seemed noticeably off to me). Controls were a little weird with trying to direct that square to where i wanted it without missing plots of lands in the farm, for instance, at first, but I got around that easily enough. Loved the setup you made for "discovering the game" worked out nicely. I'll have to come back for more, as I haven't finished yet.
