Really cool entry! I loved the concept and the overall mood you’ve created here. The controls felt smooth and the gameplay was super engaging for a jam project. Solid work! Left full ratings. If you have a few minutes, we’d love for you to check out and rate our game about a cat assembling an atom bomb: Meow Bomb! 🐱💣 Cheers!

The graphics are too cute, the music is very well done - but I couldn't get past level 6 I think? (three chasing shadows, always teleporting on me after some time when they stopped moving and looked around) Removing the shadows after losing a life would have been great, as they just kept teleporting on me after getting caught once, so if they would despawn I could have some time to breath and move around again.

Nice game though!

hinamarina 2026-10-20 22:13 ♥ 1

@fis since 6 is the last one I thought of getting a lil havier with the difficulty XD. Thank you for you for playing it and for your kind words! :) One strategy for the shadows is to keep always moving, cause when they look around, they will teleport to the place you were when they started looking.

The little GIF showing a tape going into the TV explains the goal really neatly. I like the chunky character sprite and the patterned background too. Keeping the CRT filter optional is a useful touch, especially with artwork designed to work under it.

If you have a moment, I'd appreciate a rating on my latest game, [Robot Workshop](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/60/trashfight).

This is adorable. Love the style, the mood, and the general feel of this game. Feels very much like something you'd play on PC-98 back in the day and would come with some cute box art.

The invincibility felt a bit too short to actually do anything with, but that may well be a skill issue. But other than the controls being a bit weird, that's the most I can complain about.

Nice work! Possibly my favorite game this jam.

iris3dart 2026-10-22 10:49 ♥ 1

Such a polished entry!! Love the art and vibes. Sometimes the shadows are waiting for you after you die at the doors so you die instantly again but other than that I really enjoyed playing

ok-octopus13 2026-10-22 16:46 ♥ 1

super cute and polished - definitely felt like something I could play on a retro device or an arcade machine. Loved it!

mikeware 2026-10-22 17:01 ♥ 1

Really well put together for 48 hours! The art was adorable. You forgot to say that "Enter" was the start key in the instructions, so that took me a few seconds to figure out how to get going.

The timed bonus levels took a bit to realize what was going on, realized after re-reading the instructions. So, a bit of clarity in-game would be handy there like with a count-down and prompt to beat the timer. Also, it was confusing I could still complete it after the timer expired, it should just end the level.

I too got stuck on like level six or something with the escalators coming down on each side and two boss spawners. Four shadows just overwhelmed me. It was confusing that they would teleport, and they wouldn't go down the escalators so it looked like it was glitched.

I wanted the tiniest bit more jump height as some of the jumps to certain platforms were pretty precise, but love how well put together the art and levels were! Thanks!

@fireslash Thank you so much! I'm happy you liked it :) PC98 is for sure a big source of inspiration! I mean, some of the most beautiful pixel art and chiptune music ever made came from it! Really really happy you could feel it in the game 😃 Thank you for playing! @iris3dart yeah thats a compromise I had to make in order to deliver it on time T-T. I planned for some invincibility frames when respawn, but didn't managed to made it till the deadline. Thank you for your kind words and for playing it! :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!

hinamarina 2026-10-22 17:18 ♥ 1

@mikeware Thank you for playing! and for the feedback! :) In general, the shadows don't go down the escalators unless they teleport or you provoke them to jump, but I agree that their behavior might be a little confusing! I wish I could had time to made more clear where they'll teleport after doing the search, but it is what it is 😸 Thank you!

Nice platformer! Really cute, and the graphics, SFX, and music fit the theme well. Brought back some nostalgia!

kimau 2026-10-22 19:42 ♥ 1

This art with those border just brings me back to a particular time in Japanese games in particular. Like it really captured those arcade games of the 90s spot on. Real nosalgia. The sword moment felt great and I love the alternating between time trial and shadow levels.

ganktronics 2026-10-22 22:49 ♥ 0

First of all, beautiful, sounds great too. The teleporting mechanic the shadows did might be a little too cruel? like maybe I should get a little more time to move out of the way after they appear? There were just a few parts with small jumping areas they seemed to really get me at. Still, it's a great little game. I liked it

aterim 2026-10-22 23:58 ♥ 0

Great project!

As others have already mentioned, I think the shadow mechanic could be simplified a bit, but otherwise, great job.

I also ran into a couple of bugs while playing:

- Once, after turning on all the TVs, not all the shadows disappeared, and I got killed on the victory screen. - On another bonus level, the game counted it as completed after I collected the tapes, but before I inserted them (Although maybe that's not a bug, but just how bonus levels work)

hinamarina 2026-10-23 14:24 ♥ 0

@ganktronics Thank you a lot for playing it and for the feedback! Happy you liked our little game! 😄

@aterim Oh, I'm sorry you happened to come across some bugs. One of those I happened to see myself but still not sure how to reproduce. I'll take a better look later, appreciate the feedback! The second one I indeed think is just how they work. The bonus stages will always be cleared after the time runs out (the 20 secs on the upper right), the difference is if you happen to get an extra life (finishing before the time) or not :) I think it should have been a little clearer in the game, but unfortunately I didn't managed to put more a lil' flair on it before the deadline. Thank you a lot for playing and for the reports! Always helpful 😺

Thank you All the people that played so far and for your kind words! It means a lot! :) ❤️

mamboman 2026-10-23 21:56 ♥ 1

Wow, this feels very polished. I love the animations! The videos that appear on the screen when one inserts the vhs tapes are great!

roroto-sic 2026-10-23 22:42 ♥ 1

Very cute game (graphics and audio) !! challanging but fun :) Shadows teleporting directly onto our character are a bit unfair.

wendel-scardua 2026-10-24 21:54 ♥ 1

Got to the "Thanks for playing" screen after a handful of tries (would've attached a screenshot but for some reason Windows didn't save it).

I loved it all, the graphics, the animations (in particular the shadow guys looking around), the arcadey vibes (I'm vaguely reminded of the bonus levels in the NES game Back to the Future II&III, where Marty needs to avoid his past selves).

I should've read the instructions before my first playthrough because I was about to come here to report a bug... which was actually a feature (the bonus stage, it happened to show Stage Clear at the exact moment I picked the last VHS tape, I didn't notice the timer).

I agree with Roroto Sic: the most difficult part of the game was the shadows teleporting right were I was. There could be at least some "spawning" animation so we could dodge them or something.

dvan1337 2026-10-25 21:16 ♥ 1

Good job. The only problem is that shadows pop randomly and sometimes can just lock you at the entrance after respawn. But all the aspects of platforming are considered. Liked it a bit, it was cute :)

alexandru-barbanoua 2026-10-26 09:32 ♥ 1

Aaaa, the pixel art is so cute! Really happy to see another game about cassette tapes in this jam, especially since we made one too! I really enjoyed the platforming, and the whole retro atmosphere is just lovely. What made me smile the most were the references to those old 90s anime series I love. It's so nice seeing that kind of aesthetic in a game!

The whole experience feels nostalgic in the best way, and I genuinely had fun playing it. Really nice work, guys!

dreamerkaj 2026-10-26 12:07 ♥ 1

Such beautiful pixel art! It really captures the feel of old-school retro games!

duudel 2026-10-27 17:04 ♥ 1

Super cute art! :)

I tried to finish the game, but it was a bit too unforgiving for me. The enemies randomly warping to places felt a bit harsh, as there sometimes was no way to avoid them.

There was some bug that left a VHS not possible to pickup anymore, if I died carrying it where it had spawned. Not sure if that was the reason, but it seemed to not respawn or was a bit off from where it usually was spawning. It was the second stage I believe.

Anyway, it was fun to play. Great work and loved to see you did not use any AI! :)

hinamarina 2026-10-27 17:48 ♥ 1

@duudel Thank you for playing it and for the feedback! Sorry for the bug, I'll be sure to take a look afterwards, since this one is the first time I see this one :) And sure! No AI is and will never be used in any of my things! 😃 Thanks a lot for playing it! :) Also, thanks everybody for playing through the game a leaving a review! :) I'm reading each and everyone of them! ❤️

zizochan 2026-10-28 00:19 ♥ 1

The graphics are super cute! It's a simple game, but I really enjoyed it.

manatee-webster 2026-10-29 01:30 ♥ 1

Love the PC-98 aesthetic of this. The objective was easy to understand and it controlled pretty smoothly. The one complaint I have is that the shadows felt a little too unpredictable, I never felt like I had an idea of what they were going to do next between teleporting or jumping or just waiting outside the door to spawncamp me!

hinamarina 2026-10-29 02:12 ♥ 0

Thanks a lot for taking the time to play and through it and for the kind words! @zizochan and Manatee

@manatee-webster I absolutely agree with you! In the beginning I was planning to let their behavior be more predictable through animation and some higlights in the spot they were going to teleport, etc. As well as giving the character some invencibility frames when respawn, but in the end I ran out of time and had to leave it as it is, in the hopes people just kept always moving to not get caught lol :) Thank you a lot for playing it and for finding some time to leave feedback, it means a lot! 😃
