LD53 — Delivery

Arcana Express by Joe Cowman 2023-05-03T06:58:51Z

Fun game! The mechanics were really interesting--I liked the tradeoff between delivered ingredients and spell-casting, and casting spells by entering combos was fun (reminded me of Magicka). It was pretty hard--when I did win, I felt like it was because the AI just decided to turn around :). If you want to work on it more, I think the tradeoff would be interesting to explore further--are there disadvantages other than score to using resources the villagers want? Nice game overall, and a good interpretation of the theme!

Pack 'em UP! by Timbaleek 2023-05-04T01:32:06Z

I loved the music--it fit really well with the vibe of the game. I found the controls pretty unforgiving--the character was a bit too fast and pretty floaty, while the car could have probably been floatier! I liked the variety of ingredients and orders, and the minimap. Nice game!

Solaris Express by hulien22 2023-05-03T06:44:11Z

Great game! Some Outer Wilds vibes--loved the creativity of the different planets and characters. If I have a piece of feedback (especially if you're going to develop the game further!) it's that the core gameplay loop of flying between planets and delivering cargo could use a little variety--matching velocity with a planet and landing the ship was pretty challenging at first but got a bit repetitive. Maybe some space weather, or planets that are more difficult to land on for whatever reason? Still had a good time overall, and appreciated the well-done space hijinks!

Desert Mayhem by uniquecorn 2023-05-03T06:51:53Z

Loved the Mad Max energy here--you nailed the post-apocalyptic vibe. I was a little confused about what the different items did--I ended up with a gun in my inventory (I think?) but I'm not sure it did anything. And, it was occasionally confusing that the other cars looked just like mine! Really liked the feel of the driving controls and collisions--was pretty satisfying to drive around. Nice game!

🗣️ MR SPEECH: The Purr-fect Pitch by Choo 2023-05-04T01:23:16Z

This was really fun, and DELIVERing a speech is a great spin on the theme :). Maybe I just have no rhythm but I found it pretty hard to anticipate when I'd need to go up or down--might be improved with a bit more of a graphical indication. LOVED the mechanic where you have to decide which words make sense on the fly (to avoid saying things like "your cat will die")--very creative!

C.R.A.B. signal by unkilledshadow135_Alex 2023-05-04T01:55:33Z

I loved the comics! I had a very difficult time figuring out the controls. As a suggestion, you could let the player click on the submarine or on the stations and then indicate which had been selected somehow. Nice interpretation of the theme, and nice graphics and audio!

With the Grain by Fuse in a Bowl 2023-05-04T01:40:26Z

Nice, chill game! Loved the graphics and music--I think you nailed the pastoral vibe. I think I would have liked to be able to click once and build the track to the next decision point--felt like I was clicking a lot without making any decisions. Other than that, I liked the controls and everything felt smooth.

LD54 — Limited Space

The High Seas by someone 2023-10-06T01:17:43Z

I escaped the navy with 389 doubloons! Fun game. I liked the trading, and the inventory management / looting was really smooth and fit the theme well. I ended up finding the game pretty easy--enemies didn't really fight back effectively, so I was generally able to leave port with a bunch of food, sink some merchants, grab their loot, and repair without worrying too much about either starvation or hull.

IBrexout by radmars 2023-10-17T04:18:35Z

Very cool sort of reverse-breakout mechanic--nice interpretation of the theme! Love that you all used bevy; hope you didn't struggle too much with the borrow-checker as new Rustaceans :). I had a bit of trouble with the controls, in particular with the jumping--was often blocked by stones that I thought were under my feet. I really liked the "God's wrath" theme!

Depthe by SleepyStudios 2023-10-17T00:28:51Z

Nice little puzzle game--loved the art style. This is a quibble but I would have loved to use WASD controls to move the guy around. I really liked the difficulty ramp-up--nice tutorial!

High Leaf Celestial by dxk2294 2023-10-06T05:06:00Z

Very nice, polished CRPG game! Loved the graphics, UI, animations, and music! I didn't totally buy the application of the theme--collecting crystals and emptying out my inventory was a bit tedious compared to the combat. But this seems like the foundation of a great turn-based RPG!

Ghosts by gamebuilder 2023-10-17T00:17:03Z

Love the music and art! I found the game pretty easy--I just sort of wandered around looking for ghosts and found 5 pretty quickly. Maybe there could be a type of ghost that hurts you, or something?

Bug's Museum of Fine Art by kristinamay 2023-10-17T00:23:56Z

Wow this was really engrossing, to the point that I feel a little bit proud of the pixel art I made! I did feel like the score was a bit arbitrary--would have been nice to see where I could have done better. Liked the music and the bug theme a lot!

Space Ltd. by HolySparks 2023-10-06T01:28:07Z

Fun game! Ended up digging myself into a financial hole, then having to work my way out of it. I ended up mostly greedily filling ships when I could find space and then shipping them off, which worked maybe a bit too well. I liked the graphics a lot, in particular the cheeky shopkeeper.

Witch Contractor 2 by alpacalypse 2023-10-17T04:12:15Z

Nice game! Great interpretation of the theme. Agreed with some others that the pickups didn't feel super impactful, but that's just a balance thing that you'd be able to solve with more time. I liked the vibe!

Space Knight by darzu 2023-10-07T02:07:39Z

@night-on-mars Actually two kitchen knives but yes, more or less! I hadn't made game audio before and recorded it in the last hour--our next submission will definitely have more sounds!

YEETUS by Pinky Toast 2023-10-03T04:36:59Z

Fantastic game--great graphics, humor (loved Yeetus and all the Yeeting), and gameplay! If I had to critique anything (aside from the difficulty, but I think maybe I just need to Yeet good) I could imagine the upgrades being more varied and impactful--e.g., 2% crit chance is a bit hard to get excited about. Again though, great game and I would absolutely play a version of this if you expand it and release it!

Stellar Fracture by epic_zeta 2023-10-06T01:02:28Z

Cool concept--redirecting debris at the cost of shield is an interesting and novel mechanic! I found the actual debris redirection to be a little unsatisfying, I think because I didn't get a ton of visual feedback that I was doing anything--the debris did redirect, but it wasn't totally clear how much I could move it. I also found that the game was very easy (I think I could have survived without redirecting much debris at all) until the "extreme mode", which I wasn't able to survive (was I supposed to? Should it be possible to bullet-hell it?). I liked the music a lot. Nice game overall!
