I'm getting an error on Windows 11: "Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". Is the .pck file missing?" "If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension)." End quote.

phillips-albright 2023-10-03 04:43

Getting the same error as above, you need to include the dmg file in the zip I think

akitl 2023-10-03 08:40

missing the pck file, you need to add on your archive or to re build with integrated pck image_2023-10-03_104004963.png

Thank you for informing me.i am currently not with me computer and won't be for a couple days unfortunately, thats why the web was bugging and I had to remove it. Il try to fix this as soon as possible when I reach back at my place with the computer

Very cool graphics. All the particles and glow effects looked great. It took me a while to figure out how to play even after reading the description. Something like "click and drag comets towards enemies" would have been enough. The sound fx were cool too. I was impressed by the opening cinematic as well. I wasn't sure what to do when all the comets started coming down at the end but Ill go back and see if I can figure it out. Good work.

@akitl, @alexclay or @phillips-albright I have now fixed the error but since i do not have a windows computer I request any of you to try it out and tell me if it is working or not so more people can rate my entry until i can get the web version to work without any bugs. Thank you in advance :D

phillips-albright 2023-10-04 14:26

@epic-zeta It is working for me on windows now

phillips-albright 2023-10-04 14:27

This is a really cool game! The 3D intro is really fun and the mechanic of dragging the meteors feels unique. Dragging didn't work so well on my laptop's trackpad but I'm hoping to try it on a mouse later. Nice work!

Fun game to play! However, it's relationship with the theme of limited space is not very strong, perhaps adding mechanics to the shield that serves as the limited space could add more connections to the theme of this jam more. But overall, good game!

congeesetador 2023-10-04 14:46

This had a really interesting game mechanic I've never seen in a game before with the debris, I really love the sound and sprites in the game but my only problem is you can't really lose the game, the shield regenerates really fast compared to how fast you kill the aliens, you end up healing all the damage you take and can never die unless you purposely want to, it would be nice to have the aliens get faster the longer you survive for and have them do more damage to the shield that way there's more of a challenge, other than that I really liked the new mechanic the game offered! Good submission

epic-zeta 2023-10-04 16:45

@congeesetador The debris and aliens keep getting faster especially after around 8000score, where the respawn speed and damage basically doubles. I think you might have played for not long enough to notice this or i made to subtle anyways thanks for the feedback :hearts:

Combining Game.exe.zip and Game.dmg.zip worked out for me! Love the graphics and overall premise. Controls are a bit unintuitive: I was not never sure how to direct debris in a required direction. Also after 10000 score the extreme debries shower started and continued for couple of minutes. However, I like that your shield health also changes its size, so when you are low on health it actually easier to defend it. Good job!

Just tried "Stellar Fracture". Loved the unique concept of using the shield against debris and aliens. The survival element kept me engaged. Had a minor hiccup starting it up, but it's all good now. Kudos on this one! Keep it up!

NGL I got scared few times, but felt like I was in easy mode. Great work in general gotta say <3

anatol-dumitras 2023-10-05 10:40

Honestly it's really good. The art and bloom is really pretty too. The gameplay is solid but idk about the theme, it doesn't really feel like "limited space". Overall it's a decent entry (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

Cool concept--redirecting debris at the cost of shield is an interesting and novel mechanic! I found the actual debris redirection to be a little unsatisfying, I think because I didn't get a ton of visual feedback that I was doing anything--the debris did redirect, but it wasn't totally clear how much I could move it. I also found that the game was very easy (I think I could have survived without redirecting much debris at all) until the "extreme mode", which I wasn't able to survive (was I supposed to? Should it be possible to bullet-hell it?). I liked the music a lot. Nice game overall!

epic-zeta 2023-10-06 12:13

@dougggggg No, the extreme mode is intended to be well.. **extreme** so surviving is intended to be very difficult. I was going to add bullets to it but that would mean people would just shoot everywhere and it would jus be boring, if i made the bullet take multiple hits to neutralise threats then the point of the bullet is lost. All of this also pulls the player away from the main mechanic of the game, which is to move debris and use it as a weapon and not like some other boring game where you just shoot. I decided not to add it to stay away from the more generic gameplay style and kinda wing it and make something else, thats not very familiar to most players. Thats what I like to do in jams, instead of making **"just another pixel art, shooter game but with different sprites and upgrades"**.

There provably could have been a way to balance the bullets, increasing difficulty, and the redirection mechanic. However, finding a way to balance this and implement it in time was too big of a feat for me in the limited time. If i sat down for a bit noted some ideas and playtested with others, I could make it very balenced and have a good difficulty curve for most people, but in a jam, its just not possible. This is also my second ever game jam so I am not very good at managing time frames :/

Anyways thanks for the feedback! :hearts:

Fantastic platformer game! I find it highly addictive, and the special effects of the falling meteorites are incredible! Also, the blue ball effect is amazing, something I can't achieve in Godot! I love the game, congratulations, great entry!

fifut 2023-10-06 15:31

I didn't understand what was happening when the extreme screen appeared and I was a bit scared

puppycat 2023-10-06 15:44

I really liked the graphics for the game! The opening sequence was really cool, and I loved how the shield changed in size depending on your health. The controls are a bit confusing even after reading the description. If anything, I would consider implementing a tutorial so that users can understand how the mechanics work before the game increases in difficulty. Overall I LOVE how much detail you put into this! Well done!!!

ace17 2023-10-06 16:56

GNU/Linux user here, your build works, thanks for thinking about this platform!

constance 2023-10-06 17:58

Great entry, I like the graphics and the animation, especially the shield effect and the trail of meteorites. The opening cutscene is cool, that explosion was very well done, really telling the story of the player. The audio is also great with the exploding sound and music. But I don't know why the player's health keep increasing pass the cap of 100, and the dragging control is a little bit off, I couldn't quite get them falling onto the target I aimed at. Overall, I appreciate the effort you put into this one, good job sir!

nicholaspfo 2023-10-06 22:17

Very fun concept and well done game. Only thing that was weird was the health of the shield and player going above the 100 cap and the effect at the end was quite scary/overwhelming.

compasslg 2023-10-07 03:13

Finally a game built for mac! I liked the vibe this game is giving, but the pacing felt a bit off, early on there isn't much to do, later I felt I can't do enough to make a impact, it's kinda too hard to control the debris. Aside from those I really like the idea!

raassh23 2023-10-08 03:07

Cool graphics and audio, but i just didn't understand how to control the debris. Clicking and dragging the debris didn't always go as i intended, so i think adding a little bit of tutorial in game would be nice

paul-nadan 2023-10-14 19:41

This was a neat concept! I really liked the way the meteors looked, and all of the screen-shake and strobing effects were nicely done. The music was really pleasant to listen to, although some of the sound effects felt a bit jarring in comparison (I liked the meteor impact sound though). I think the way the shield became a smaller target as your health decreased was a really nice self-balancing mechanic. One thing that could've been added is more of a difficulty curve - it seemed pretty constant up until the impossible shower at the end. Also not sure if it's a bug, but there was no game over - the meteor shower just continues forever after I die (my score reached 40,000+ before I closed the window). Overall I really enjoyed the game, great work!
