LD46 — Keep it alive

Super Smash Berries by masterkrepta 2020-05-12T21:06:56Z

Definitely a unique theme - battle of the fruits! Couldn't tell is the bar on top is health or timer, or what. A simple text label, icon, or symbol could help. Kudos on enemy variety. My biggest gripe is the mouth sound fx :(

O Captain! My Captain! by jamioflan 2020-05-06T01:42:48Z

Really cool seemless gameplay between first person resource gathering to ship piloting - feels like I'm in a playground and exploring a mini world. Visuals are simple yet charming. Too bad about there being zero audio - could've added a lot to the experience. Overall liked the sense of freedom and play.

Night of the Killer Beetles by ErikU 2020-05-12T20:52:10Z

I like me some rts - this was cool. No audio though? Bummer. I had no idea what the gameplay mechanics were until I started clicking about. I don't play rts but few times in the past - if not for that I imagine I'd be quite lost as to how the game works - a simple text in the corner listing controls would do. Big level is nice too.

Doin' It Live by SugarSores 2020-05-12T21:35:41Z

Cool art, animation, attention to detail like camera shake, HUD, different voice for different emotions, so on. After a while don't know what else to do.

The Lamp Man by Jakub Panek 2020-05-12T22:18:51Z

Like the simple low poly art. Fully rigged and animated characters, albeit simple, impressive that you have. Could've done without the valve turning and gas map. Those added layers of cumbersome complexity that didn't match the art's simplicity. Delighted by sound, visuals, ui, tutorial - then turned off by gas mechanic :(

2 Souls Together by Lestat 2020-04-27T20:47:16Z

Fun simp simulator. Nice music doesn't get annoying even when looping. The title fade in at beginning too slow - people can read faster than that. Timer could've run out faster, too long for repetitive gameplay. No way to exit game without shortcut to task manager tad annoying. Nice music, interesting art style, cute theme.

Bunnurse by Brainoid 2020-05-12T20:47:09Z

Nice graphics and characters. Not sure what's up with spasmic camera movement in opening cutscene, but impressive that you even have intro cutscene. I like the concept very much - saving soldiers lives. First round of the game is very unforgiving - could've used some slack to get my bearings. Cool game over screen.

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-27T20:55:48Z

Kinda unplayable. I like idea it's going for - farm food and feed the troll. No explanation of controls or how to play, HUD overlapping each other and obscuring the level, no audio whatsoever. Clearly ran out of time but concept is neat.

It's Just a Burning Memory by Kent Reese 2020-04-30T15:36:10Z

Music real nice and authentic feeling. Neat minimalist art style, though could've used more than 1 tone per object so they don't look flat. The writing worked well to both convey character and inform as what to do as player. The browser player was appreciated too for convenience.

RESCUR'ROBOT by jiukka 2020-05-06T01:34:27Z

Cool concept. Instructions were not clear about the rules but I managed to piece it together from playing. Controls and camera are stiff - implementing something like smooth follow in your code would help. I like how there was a clear goal visually marked with vfx. Points for audio feedback for interactions.

Without oxygen by EndSSGamesStudio 2020-05-12T21:02:16Z

I like FPS. Cool idea just not sure what the premise is - you're collecting firewood? High tech vacuum that converts raw materials into oxygen? A bit dark in some areas and would get stuck in rooms blinding searching exit. Cool theme/setting.

Cats In Flats by Black Flag 2020-05-12T21:39:35Z

Tutorial went by too fast, started game only half knowing how to play. Need some more feedback from shooting cats to let me know I'm doing damage, visual indicator to go to tv, a timer before next wave (and longer break too, next wave started just before reaching tv). Voiceover of character well done.

Bogged Out by yarpoplar 2020-04-30T15:47:13Z

The tutorial disappears in a flash and I didn't know that my projectiles weren't killing enemies or that the golum was friendly until restarting. Slow down the tut or make it harder to miss. Graphics are nice, music is fine, sound design that reflects what happening on screen feels missing. All in all, neat twist on horde mode where you don't directly fight.

Keep summer garden safe! by OooohManGames 2020-05-12T21:11:50Z

Nice simple art style, charming retro/gamey sound fx (could use some mixing so levels are even), and cool gardening concept. Except I don't know the first thing about gardening so could've used buttom prompts and reminders during gameplay so I know what to do. A wall of text in the beginning is too much to digest or remember. Also, I wish the camera angle was less at an angle so that WASD maps out intuitively.

Shelter by Aaron Taube 2020-05-12T21:42:12Z

Like the concept - cook food and eat while fighting off zombies. Zombies breaking down walls is really cool. Got stuck in a attacking animation loop and got killed. Oh well

Grandma's Boi by CsOmega 2020-05-12T21:23:43Z

Don't know why this granny's got so much heat on her - a cool backstory? I thought tutorial could've just been part of normal game. Hospital is so far away - wish there was a minimap or bar indicating how much further. That road just went on and on. Also, very difficult near impossible - could use more slack. I like the mechanics.

Stay Alive! by Hoseccan 2020-05-06T01:27:41Z

Cool organic weapon and enemy designs. Opening text disappears way too quick, with no audio feedback of enemies approaching or attacking - didn't realize I was being attacked on first try. Took me a bit to realize you gotta charge shots too. And difficulty ramps up super fast on like wave 2. Nice that it's browser based.

Magician's Monster by NomadicRockMan 2020-05-12T21:47:31Z

Super cool concept. Music, sound effects, pixel art, all comes together in harmony. The giant getting bloodied and damaged with gore is a neat touch vs boring health bar. I beat it first try so appreciate it not being impossible and instead casual and light.

Core Transport by Clayton Does Things 2020-05-12T22:00:43Z

I think there's a cool build-your-own machine/contraption mechanic hidden in here somewhere but the controls, instructions, and feedback was so obtuse I couldn't get very far before getting frustrated and giving up.

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-04-27T20:35:24Z

Took a second to understand the movement direction in relation to level. Audio of collecting stuff not pleasant. Checkpoint would've been great. Smart reuse of same level with different layouts. Nice art style.

Feed the Turtle King! by Butzbo 2020-05-12T21:52:18Z

Audio is by far strongest aspect of this game - where there should be sound, there is audio feedback which adds to game feeling responsive to input. Nice job setting up premise with cartoon slides - always nice to know what's going on fictionally in a game. Only gripe - controls feel stiff and knockout time penalty a tad harsh.

Saving His Life by shayan_ebz78 2020-05-12T22:11:03Z

Difficulty is pretty much impossible - don't know if I'm doing damage and I don't who is damaging me. I just die suddenly. I'm strafing and moving around but still get hit and die in few seconds. With no cover!

Keep Ye Alive by JoskerDu 2020-05-12T21:28:15Z

Was lured into turning up the volume because the bg music so low, then ruptured eardrums with first enemy sound yikes! I like the mobile game style one button simplicity, but felt I had no control over winning or losing - just buying potions as coins are available at random. Pixel art is nice except for enemy which doesn't blend well with other art.
