LD36 — Ancient Technology

THE BOX by ReboundGames 2016-08-29T01:17:00

I love the animations, although ultimately I gave up because I am not into these kind of puzzles. As some others have mentioned the background looping sound could use a bit of work as it was distracting me from solving the first puzzle.

Great job!

Spectacular Stride Machine by Garfeild 2016-08-31T13:00:00

I love the art and feel of this game! It felt very intuitive to play and quite fun to try to get farther in the level.

I was a bit surprised to see that the machine could fly though. I had assumed that I would just be walking the entire time and would be concentrating on the height of the 'head'.

Hun Talka Bron by themadknights 2016-08-31T12:49:00

A very hard game. But I felt that I had lost the first tutorial level but actually passed.

I had a bit of difficulty activating the traps as I would miss with my mouse every once in a while. With how hectic this game is I would have loved to have keyboard shortcuts for each trap.

Second Chance by caryoscelus 2016-08-29T02:42:00

I love the art style of the game. It makes me want to play an entire game with that art. The tutorial felt like a lot of reading that was taking a lot of time so I felt sad that there wasn't much gameplay to get to. I hope you continue it and something good comes of it.

Happy Hunting Ground by Will Edwards 2016-08-29T01:37:00

I love the art style, it feels like a fun game. I had a lot of trouble aiming on my browser with a mouse though and so died to the first Saber Tooth Tiger :(.

Onager by Larzan 2016-08-29T03:05:00

I liked the art style, and the aiming system. It felt very intuitive. The one thing that I miss is an indication of how long I've held the spacebar button down for. That would help me judge the distance of the shots that I'm trying to make.

Onager by Larzan 2016-08-29T03:37:00

I have no idea how to @ your name Rico :( but I think an audio feedback system would be a great way to gauge things.

Ancient Technologies by csanyk 2016-09-01T04:54:00

I loved the graphics, it felt very authentic and I was able to play using Chrome on my Mac with no problem.

The only bug that I found was that the music continued after I unplugged the power from the game while it was on. Other than that it played really well. Great job!

Tori Tori Panic! by fundamental.phantom 2016-08-31T12:39:00

I like the feel of the game, and the aiming system was very intuitive. As others and you have mentioned the camera changing positions so often threw me off pretty quickly.

But my biggest concern is, why am I hunting baby birds?

Siege at Server City! by Dunbarry 2016-08-30T15:25:00

I was able to defend the city! It did take me a little while before I could start the game. It turns out you need to click the blackness on the right side of the screen.

I wish there was more than one enemy attacking.

Artefact-O 36 by SamuelSousa 2016-08-31T11:53:00

I had no idea what was going on most of the time, but I enjoyed shooting the robots anyways. I didn't enjoy the strange glitches like the first and last level. They hurt my eyes as I was playing in a dark room :(

Pyramid by metalhaze 2016-08-30T03:25:00

I like the game. It was easy to play with the keyboard and I enjoyed the look and feel of it. I never got past the third level though as I kept on dying near the door :(

Hidden Desert by Kalibrated 2016-08-29T02:02:00

I love the art style, and like the animations. However I got stuck after getting the gun. I was able to shoot the bat, but then couldn't figure out what to do next :(

Hidden Desert by Kalibrated 2016-08-29T03:48:00

I was able to escape the cave. I wish there were more puzzles to solve.

Stone Age Clicker by ZYXer 2016-09-09T04:08:00

I'm loving the music and general feeling of the game. I feel very relaxed right away. I can see myself playing this for far too long if I let myself.

In the tutorial, I wish that the required resources that I have to gather was in the same order that the current resources that I need to have. It took me a few seconds to cross reference what I needed.

There was a popup that blocked my little village. Instead of trying to move out of the way like I was supposed to my instinct was to click on the message to make it go away. I ended up gathering the water that was behind it. I kind of feel that I should not have been able to do that.

And then all my villagers died :(

I loved the game though and I think that I'll come back to it again.

Stone Age Clicker by ZYXer 2016-09-15T22:42:00

I replayed the game and found that the popup that was blocking me was the message about the end of the tutorial stage. What I had not noticed before was that the popup box went away on its own without clicking. I had just clicked on it at around the same time that it started to fade away :).

I guess I wasn't patient enough.

The Operator by Gipzo 2016-08-30T13:30:00

I liked the game, it had good graphics, and a great premise. It took me one false start to get going and then I was able to get to day 3 with better and better grades each time.

On day three the game felt like it froze though even though the current call I was connecting was working. I have one call and it won't end. I'm not getting new calls either.

I feel that this could be turned into a full game.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:35:00

Thanks @PetterBergmar. I didn't think about it being like FTL until your comment :). Game balance is something that I would like to learn so I could make this or future games less random clicking to win, but more strategic.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:35:00

Thanks @chantilly!

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:36:00

I didn't realize until I submitted that the screen was set for 900x600 :(. That is not a mistake I will make next time. That or I will have a full-screen button :)

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:37:00

Thanks @Xinelu!

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:38:00

Thanks for the review @pogo575. I unfortunately waited until the final hour to add in the feedback and I believe that it shows. I'm thinking that if I redid the UI I would be able to have a proper feedback system, and maybe sounds that would play whenever something happens.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:40:00

Thanks @Kalibrated! I ended up having to drop a lot of my planned features in order to make it a fully playable game for this jam. Next time I'll be more prepared on what I can accomplish in 48 hours.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:41:00

Thanks for the review @Traf d-Lo. I caught the shields in one area but forgot the enemies :/.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:42:00

Thanks for the review @Ilseroth. My excuse is the pirates killed them all?

Actually I wanted to have more but I dropped them pretty quickly when I realized how little time 48 hours is. Maybe a second edition would have all those extra entities.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-30T13:43:00

Thanks for the review @caryoscelus. Those are good points, and if I end up continuing work on the game I'll take them into serious consideration.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-31T17:08:00

thanks @SamuelSousa. Its the first time that I've tried creating my own pixel art!

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-08-31T17:10:00

Thanks for the feedback @metalhaze. I'll definitely keep those in consideration for the future!

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-09-01T04:47:00

Thanks for the feedback @fundamental.phantom. I just checked the 'enable full screen' button so that should help the screen size being too small.

The advice about the buttons is great, I'll be taking that into account for any possible future versions.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-09-15T22:31:00

Thanks for the review @csanyk. I will be taking what I learned from this game and applying it to futuer Ludum Dares.

Archeology Simulator 3092 by brookzerker 2016-09-15T22:34:00

@ZYXer, thanks for the review. I will be working on balance for my next game.

Ancient Meat Lovers by FrozenCow 2016-08-29T03:30:00

I love the cuteness of the art and animation style. I like how some of the animals try to run away when being attacked so miss it when they just stand there and take it.

I hope that you continue creating the game and add some strategy elements to it.

LD38 — A Small World

A Small Room by brookzerker 2017-05-05T19:08:23Z

Thanks for letting me know! I just re-uploaded as I somehow screwed up the Mac deploy :)

A Small Room by brookzerker 2017-05-20T06:39:00Z

Thanks drtizzle! That's great feedback to have. :)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Prinsen Gulden by King Kujito 2017-12-04T03:29:55Z

I loved the music, and the the movement felt good even when it was lagging on my Firefox browser on a linux system.

I had a little problem getting up to the larger platform but eventually was able to get there. I was a little confused when I died and was given a different level.

unipsychle by niksg 2017-12-04T04:08:42Z

Fun game! I love the unique spin on the QWOP style of being able to raise and lower the seat length.

Sorted by Ryan Temple 2017-12-04T03:38:27Z

The game feels fun and simple. Great job on your first entry!

Earth Eaters by chionic 2017-12-04T03:59:09Z

I really like the method of absorbing the planets to then get rid of the blobs. I got the the point where I couldn't do anything though because I had used up all of the planets, and my cursor became white.

RedCell by kkneville 2017-12-04T04:39:23Z

I like the game. It was a little klunky moving the character but once I got the hang of it it was ok. I couldn't complete the game though as I kept on dying in the middle of a jump.

Greed Mania by pcmxms 2017-12-04T03:34:34Z

I love that you put up a linux version!

The game volume was a bit loud, it startled me with the initial loading sound. But after I got used to it and adjusted my volume it was fine. Movement was smooth and good. I especially like that some of the bandits had static movements and some followed me around the screen.

I did die several times to enemies spawning right under me though.

Find Gold! by Isogash 2017-12-04T04:48:19Z

Lots of fun! The first time I saw that my body persisted after dying I couldn't help but smile. I could never figure out what the button next to the x is though.

Leaning Tower by Patrick D 2017-12-04T03:50:21Z

I loved it, especially once I realized that I needed to press a or d multiple times instead of holding them down.

POLAMI by Faloon 2017-12-04T03:31:50Z

It took me a while to understand how the scoring system went. A fun time waster :)
