Darkness. All-engulfing darkness... Nice :) Haven't played it proper yet, but I look forward to doing so! Just wanted to quickly say congrats so much on finishing! I hope you did not push yourself too much, and that you (somehow) derived some enjoyment from this Ludum Dare. Genuinely. (Even if it was 3 hours of polish that brought you joy - that's ok too, right)

whao, it's a very nice entry, the text is light enough that it's agreable to read. The mood is really nice as well. I'll come back later, when I have finished playing it

Wow so fast! that's a lot of game in a little package
I enjoyed this! The music and detailed descriptions of the environment did a really good job grounding me in the world and making it easy to navigate. There was just enough clues and back-and-forth navigation to make the puzzles enjoyable without overstaying its welcome. The Easter eggs of your previous Ludum Dare entries was a nice touch.
Some graphics may have punched up the effect of each room, but honestly the game is fine without them.
Out of all my achievements, I liked petting the jelly beans the most. I did a quick second playthrough to see what happens if you click them an absurd amount of times:
> You petted the beans 2436 times. They love you! ๐ฅฐ
Great job!
@sharks Thank you for checking it out so quickly right after me publishing it! I pushed myself a little and wished I had spent more time polishing (as usual) but I am rather proud of the result nonetheless. Maybe Iโll invest a couple of more days with just more polish ๐
@dhim Glad you like it! I tried to keep the text terse and interesting. Let me know how you liked it!
@tolmera Haha yes, it's my biggest text adventure so far. ๐
_[Power, MT](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/power-mt)_ had ~5800 words, _Bean There_ clocks in at a little over 6000. Hope you had a bit of fun with it ๐
@andrewkennedy Thank you for playing it very thoroughly! I intended drawing little illustrations for some key scenes and rooms but that was 40 minutes before submission hour and I realized how foolish that was ๐
Youโre now immortalized as the Number One Bean Petter Of All Time with that ludicrous high amount! ๐คฃ I am not going to spoil the threshold of when the beans "love you" but itโs magnitudes below 2436. Nonetheless I greatly appreciate the effort! โฅ

Oh yeah I forgot to come back after playing it! It was a super nice experience, I like that there is no graphism, so everything lives in my mind.
thank you for making this game
Nice sound design - puts you into the right mood for a scene, and it's a really nice story. I wanted to steal the wizard's magic orb but got distracted by the exotic drawings in his library  Thanks for making it!
It looks like I've read all the book titles, but I'm terrible at petting

Very cool and atmospheric little story. I enjoyed the humor very much and had fun exploring the tower. I did apologize, I apologized for EVERYTHING :grinning:
The music and sounds are very nice. Really enhance each scene and add a lot to the mood. And the interpretation of the theme is so cool. Thank you for this experience

The atmosphere of the game is awesome as always, thanks for the game! I was a bit stuck around the middle, I thought I rechecked everything, but it turns out I didn't, thanks for the help! :) Nicely written, the sounds and the soundtrack are really fitting. A few more years and I'll only play text adventures ^^ The only flaw is that there could have been more puzzles/content  Nice job!
Magic means are a fun twist on the theme. The little sound effects when you enter some rooms are a really nice touch.
@dhim Awesome, thanks for returning and commenting, glad you enjoyed it! ๐
@civmaniac Now I got to make an expanded version involving an orb and exotic drawings ๐
And no hard feelings about petting, I meant to have different responses from the beans but, well, timeโฆ
@fabula-rasa Thank you for playing and apologizing for everything. I think there's a bug in the 1.0.1 version still (apart from the debugging pony) that you can over-apologize ๐
I am very happy that you had a good time with it!
@tudvari I'm sure you would've found the way forward... after 20 minutes of trying everything and starting to hate the game so I am glad I was there with a clue or two haha. I also wanted to have more puzzles in there but I struggled to finish the ones that I got, you know how it is ๐
@bangkerpow Thank you for playing! The sound effects where done on the hoof, recorded edited and implemented 15 mins before the deadline, so I am relieved you found them acceptable ๐
Loved it! Enjoyed the humor and cuteness of the creatures:) music also added to the mood.
Really loved it! Enjoyed the humor :)
I played it twice because I somehow forgot about the recipe during my first playthrough and I really wanted to read the whole thing haha
pet_this.png
This immediately makes it a 10/10 experience for me. If there's something to pet I'm happy.
Also this
pocketing.png made me feel so called out for the way I play games haha. But what if I neeeeeed it? ~~and I did! See?!~~
Nice story and the music and sounds really enhance the whole experience!
Great work!

Hey, I think I know you from Mastodon, if you are that guy who made a game about transporting goods to Eastern Germany. Anyway, bravo, great writing, and humor, and what a way to deal with the theme, it was a pleasure. And I learned about personal boundaries.
If I knew someone was watching and counting how many times I pet the beans, I'd be nicer to them! My poor beans were petted only 6 times. But I'll make it up for them in the second round :) I wish the game rewarded me with a picture of those cute little beans. But maybe it's better for them to live only in my fantasy :) I love the music, it adds so much to the mood and helps to immerse into the game (even for such a visual person like me:)
@iovorobiev Thank you for playing! Great you found the music not too annoying ๐
@sockenpuppe Thank you so much for playing and petting the little beans! I wanted to have them give different responses so that petting them more often would be a bit more rewarding ๐
The stand-in line about "pocketing the dust for some reason" survived until the final too it seems. I'm glad you enjoyed my little game! Thank you for commenting! ๐
@kr4ft3r Haha, yes, I'm the same person who made _[Aufgeblรคhte Drossel](https://pixelprophecy.itch.io/drossel)_ earlier this year, thank you for remembering and thank you for playing and commenting! ๐ฅฐ
@jiri-hysek Oh dear, I _really_ should have added more lines about petting the beans more often ๐
I wanted to add illustrations to the game, especially the beans and some locations but it was 40 minutes to deadline when I finally had time for that. I'm happy that you still played the game despite it being all text! ๐๐

I managed to pet the beans 21 times with about 121 turns.
Loved the book names with all your LDJam game references (amongst others).
Wow, its a great game! The first text based game I've seen in this jam so far. I liked the puzzles, and the ability to pet your beans.
The writing is great, keep it up
@xparker 21 times, wow! They must love you now ๐ Thank you for playing and for remembering the titles of my previous games to enjoy the bookshelf ๐
@tetrergeru Thank you so much! I'm glad you had a great time with the game. I am currently working on an expanded version with more puzzles, more beans, and more jokes (some even halfway funny!) ๐

I had fun with this game! I liked the writing it was funny. I like text-adventure games on a black background. I also liked how the music and sound effects added to my imagination. I feel like there was some potential for some small visuals? Maybe a little minimap showing the player where they were on the tower would? Or art for the different rooms? The end screen with stats was a nice touch!

@philstrahl remembering the names comes from watching your Post-mortems.
As a matter of fact we joined LDJam due to you and Quill18 showcasing ldjam (first being LDJam48).
You brought us another gift. More smiles, more happiness. You're making the world a better place. Profoundly fulfilling work I suspect.

I did not reach the end, but I liked the part of the story I read and atmosphere is good. The puzzles felt a bit too random for me. Overall still a pretty good jam game.
@jerem-watts Hey Jerem! Justโฆ wow! ๐ฅฐ Thank you so so much for this extremely thorough and narrated playthrough! Conny and I watched it entirely and were wonderfully entertained by all the voices and whatnot. You even read out the mangled recipe! ๐ Next time I should make sure that you can scoop up some poop ๐ฉ ๐คฃ As you said, as a dev it helps so much to see people play (and struggle) with your game. Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
@jk5000 Hey thank you for playing and the comment! ๐ Where did you stop and why? It would help a lot knowing where you bounced off.

I always end up getting lost in these text adventures..
Had a great time with this one! Enjoyed all of the writing and humour, and the puzzles were well designed - great work!
@hulien22 Thank you so much for playing and seeing it through until the end! Judging from the number of turns you didnโt get _that_ lost! Iโm very glad you enjoyed it! ๐
2024-10-23 00_26_25-Window.png Nice little puzzler. I felt trapped in a tower and wanted to get free. I see you succeeded in having visual icons for your selections and thought that was really nice. Appreciated the sound effects for the various items in the scenes and the golden text that would appear and fill me with success happiness feelings.

Wow, entire adventure game with plot and choices! Very nice
@commanderstitch Thank you for playing! I'm very glad that the game gave you some happy feelings! ๐
@eugene-b Thanks so much! I almost didnโt finish on time ๐

This is a cool game! I really like how you used the game's simplicity to its advantage here, and because it's very simple to advance, the player is very inclined to keep exploring and clicking on all of the options. I really like how this game flows, it feels natural to click to go forward and its fun to explore around the text to find the options. The sound design does really well to showcase each situation as you're advancing through.
I definitely had vibes of playing D&D with a DM here!
This was fun! Not too hard to get through, and seemingly no dead ends, so no frustration :)
The music and sound design are very impressive!

You said in the final page that you're not so good making this kind of game, I don't agree, it was fun to explore this little adventure, so, very well done!
@miku Wow, thank you so much for playing and the nice comment about the game eliciting DM vibes ๐ฎ! Much appreciated, I'm glad you enjoyed it! ๐
@frank-gevaerts Thanks for playing, Frank! Iโm glad you didnโt dislike my little excursion to your preferred genre. Sound โdesignโ might be a bit euphemistic, I threw it together in the last half hour incl. implementation ๐
@lereveur Thank you so much for your kind words and for playing it all through to the end! ๐ฅฐ I am currently working on an improved and expanded version that hopefully addresses some shortcomings. ๐
