What a colossal effort you guys put into this! So far this is my favorite entry! Absolutely love attention to details: slight health/ability UI movement when you get to the screen corner or clever tile placement to guide player towards puzzle solutions.

Feels just like playing the old 2D Zelda games! The art and audio are unbeatable as always and the dungeon design is awesome. My only major complaint was with the snapping to rock mechanic, which caused me to have to a few rooms due to moving the rock when I didn't want to, and falling into pits was a bit too easy, but that's a classic for old Zelda.

badpiggy 2024-04-16 16:37

I recently started playing the minish cap so this definitely felt familiar, right down to how you wordlessly explain mechanics

Everything about this is stellar, although I kinda wish you had a map ( although if you do get one later on, then I take it back ).

Regardless, this is an amazing job

tapehead 2024-04-16 19:01

This is crazy how polished and good this is! Amazing work!

matt-vnr 2024-04-16 21:12

Love the ambiance and the pixel art. Great execution! Congratulations to an awesome submission!

rawb 2024-04-16 22:41

Just an incredible game, I don't think I could fault it if I tried. Insane polish, huge range of enemies and art, so much unique style with everything, the level and puzzle design is expertly crafter and each of the summon has so much character and utility and unlock new area of the map organically. Exceptional game, great job to all involved!

arzi 2024-04-17 12:06

You really nailed the zelda-style level and puzzle design here!

gasgiant 2024-04-17 19:11

I don't know why you've made Zelda, but the fact that you did is crazy impressive.

brucezoom 2024-04-19 09:11

What a cute game and smart level deisgn! Thank you for making this incredible game. BTW, maybe the drak tiles in the first environment could be a little brighter. It's difficult to distinguish walkable tiles and holes.

mr-esport 2024-04-19 12:43

Actually impressed by the length of the game. Super polished in every way, cute arts, animations & sfx, smart level design as well. ^^ Love it PS: I managed to softlock myself in the big sliding room. By summoning a stone between me and the bottom door. Blocking the door trigger and myself, forever sliding ><"

rich-strange 2024-04-19 13:45

My kid and I spent the whole evening beating the game--it's very addictive and really fun.

Comments from the kiddo: "Really liked it! The graphics are good, the story path is good. The puzzles can be a bit tricky, but that's what makes it fun. Just really, really good!"

alec 2024-04-19 23:49

super impressed by both the amount and quality of this game! Was having a blast, but unfortunately I believe I was softlocked in the second dungeon when I received the wrong key type (silver instead of gold right before the end).

2024-04-20 00:51

@alec try looking elsewhere in the dungeon, as far as i know it's impossible to softlock yourself using keys in dungeon 2.

euler-moises 2024-04-20 04:35

I Love it!

My favorite type of game. Beautiful in every way. I just didn't understand the relationship with the theme.

Congratulations!

maymay 2024-04-20 04:53

Incredible game! The art and sound are amazing and overall there is wayy more polish than anyone could expect of a 72-hour game, but I think what stands out the most is the design of the dungeons that really feel like they're out of a Zelda game. It was so skillful the way that the mechanics of pushing rocks was slowly built up ahead of getting the rock-summoning spell.

coke 2024-04-20 17:02

This game is very nice! They are so completive and has an hours gameplay! And they even has a game save feature! As a zelda-like game, it has a very good puzzle design and many rooms are connected by the mechanics. Their art style is amazing too.

animawish 2024-04-20 22:42

Unbelievably charming and fully fledged game, and made in 72 hours to boot. Superlative work. Wonderful aesthetics and theming and a great Zelda-like adventure. Incredible work!

ionbingo 2024-04-21 01:12

Dungeon checkpoints were a little tricky, but I was really impressed on how much was here and how well-done everything was.

okk 2024-04-21 12:17

One of the most polished game, that I tried this jam. Well done!

ategon 2024-04-21 12:48

Really well made game. Theres an insane amount of content and polish here for a game made in the jam. Played through it on a stream and ive got the vod below if you wanted to watch it (12th chapter)

https://youtu.be/c9SO3tlrBa0

And I'm the host for the ludum dare score chasers tournament this Ludum Dare. Wanted to ask if youre fine if I put some gameplay of the game in an intermission video. Last year for reference:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM_eIvjBmIQ

oroshibu 2024-04-21 19:47

@ategon Hey thanks for the video! and sure you can go ahead with using gameplay for your intermission video

valentinwb 2024-04-22 11:56

I am amazed by the amount of content you guys were able to pull out in the span of a short jam, also I am wondering how do you guys manage to keep a clear objective with such a big team ! I have always thought going in jam with too many people was far from easy management wise. Anyway congrats to you guys you have made an amazing job !

blazejmg917 2024-04-23 01:06

This game is INCREDIBLE. I have no idea how you all managed to pull together this much content in this short of a time! The mechanics are incredibly well polished, the audio is clean, the art is cohesive and gorgeous, and your level design is phenomenal. This is the type of game I would think to find already published on Steam ready to purchase and waiting for a switch port, it's incredible. I think the only thing I would really comment on as a problem is that on occasion the free movement and grid-based parts of the game don't seem to completely sync up. You'll sometimes walk against a wall to far and abilities will act weird because of it, for example. But that's really the only thing I have to say that isn't just raving about this game. You're getting my first 5-star overall rating for sure, cause you absolutely deserve it!

tetracold 2024-04-23 01:48

Another banger form the GOATs!!

thomas-gelman 2024-04-23 02:01

This game is actually kind of insane. The level of polish and just amount of level design in this game baffles me, this is so much for 3 days! The art looks good, the audio sounds good, and the game plays super well. Each of the dungeons having unlockable abilities that are necessary to find, and use to solve the rest of the puzzles was really excellent. Honestly I'd love to see this with a few more dungeons and some final polish uploaded to steam sometime down the line! I think my only complaints are that some screen transitions can be a little awkward since you may walk right into an enemy or off a cliff, and as someone else mentioned the player can sometimes feel like they're not where they look like they are, which can make pushing things or walking down thin walkways a bit of a challenge. Overall, this is a fantastic entry, and a serious contender to win this ludum dare. Well done!

2024-04-23 18:03

This is such a polished title. I love the simple Zelda style gameplay, it seems like it left a lot more room for y'all to flex your design skills. The dungeons, the enemies, the bosses, everything was really neat and interesting, and played off your abilities really well. I love how the environment asks you to use your abilities all the time, there's always some trick to getting from point A to B. My favorite was probably the electric dungeon, loved the look, sounds, and mechanics there. The only real criticism I can think of is maybe making ledges a little harder to fall into, I feel like I fell into them accidentally all the time lol.

maxededo 2024-04-23 19:07

This is an insanely impressive entry! The quality and polish in the art, sound design, and the fact that you had time to put together some pretty solid dungeons is wild to me. Some constructive that I would provide after playing is that I would've really appreciated movement being locked to a grid and a map. Aside from that though, amazingly done, had a great time with this one!

antonion 2024-04-24 15:12

The game is so good in all aspects that I doubt you made it in 72 hours. Either you used pre-made blanks, or you're freaking geniuses!

eugene-b 2024-04-25 20:59

Game is made very well. Really good Zelda clone, a lot of levels.

senso 2024-04-28 06:20

This is a lot of content for 72 hours (even with the big team). The art is from a high skill level. The UI is super nice, especially the spells in the UI. Like the going outside the box, the animations of the key opening the door, the X fade out on death, so many good things. Zelda dungeons, I love it! The sound and music are also well polished.

This game is absolutely a masterpiece!

2024-04-28 16:26

This was so adorable! I love it, it's very zeldaesque which makes it cute. Great job <3

dreamteck 2024-04-29 07:25

The game was realy realy good on every aspects ! Congratulations !

oroshibu 2024-04-29 08:05

@thyoi What the heck!! This is so adorable?? I'm glad you liked our little game :-)

oroshibu 2024-04-29 08:06

@dreamteck Thanks a lot! I also really liked your game too!!

justcamh 2024-04-29 12:48

I played this on stream and hot damn, this is absolutely incredible! For so long I’ve had in my mind a sort of reference point for what a 5 star LD game looks like, and this one goes way way beyond that! I can’t believe the amount of content, the number of brilliantly designed moments and ultimately I can’t believe how well it all works together. The one part I disliked was the final dungeon of the game, which was far too maze-like, had a lot of one way corridors that wouldn’t let you return, and had a lot of puzzles that had to be re-solved when passing by again. And I knew that I had collected the boss key, but at some point I had died and didn’t realise I had lost the boss key too. So some puzzle somewhere that I thought I had solved actually needed to be solved again to get the boss key, and I got rather stuck at this point. But otherwise I had an absolute blast with this, 6 stars out of 5!

You can see what happened here, your game is at the end https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2131744728

squeele 2024-05-01 16:30

Congratulations! Great game design and polish.

kanity 2024-05-02 16:43

**Intro**: poor little carrot! T_T

**Impressions**: Oh gosh, even in first location I got Zelda vibes with moving rocks and destroying grass, but then I found a dungeon and was like huh, that is *indeed* zelda-inspired x) There was even something zelda-like in the music. And for me that's immediately +1000 points as Zelda is my favourite game series, and I especially appreciate 2D Zeldas +_+

- Small visual issue here with the locked door:

bossdoor.jpg

- Animations are super well done, I love how our abilities are "alive", that's really cute, the sounds are good and the art is gorgeous!

- It's cool how the game has that nostalgic feeling to it, but at the same time adds original abilities and twists, and the enemies also look unique.

* Really super well done, great job! +_+

petitcoke 2024-05-06 00:04

I really enjoyed playing this game, but got tired after a while and I sometimes struggled to navigate my way around the place, but that's probably part of the games features, right? Very cool game with nice interactive sound effects and cool music
