LD55 — Summoning

Tristram by Rongo Matane 2024-04-23T04:59:09Z

Extremely well put together! I love the life you were able to squeeze out of everything. From the characters mourning each other to the squash n stretch animations. I think I would've liked some more decision power in the gameplay though. Fantastic stuff, yall really cooked.

This was really interesting, and surprisingly difficult. Had me whippin my mouse around like a maniac cultist haha. I love the art and sound, and the design is super solid. Wish there was some means of keeping track of time or insight into what the level end messages mean exactly.

The Last Ritual by thetatautau 2024-04-23T16:40:59Z

This was a really fun and lil goofy game, I really liked it. Really nice work on the art, mostly the shaders, colors, and environment. The core puzzle was really fun, and I had to stop and think for a good while on some of them. I felt a little unguided at times, I think this project could have really benefited from a deeper narrative element, you could leverage riddles to help guide players more directly and/or mix in some ancient scripture type stuff for flavor. Overall really cool, especially for compo!

Underlings by Lexxio 2024-04-24T00:29:43Z

This was a great little game! Scoped well and had a neat core mechanic. What I think could be interesting is chaining your summons, such that every new summon is a "life" and dying just makes you take control of the previous summon. To lose, you either lose the castle or every one of your summons. Either way epic work very based

This was really neat! I love the visual style and vibe you got going, just give it some more time in the oven and you'll be golden!

Globeba by Saturnyoshi 2024-04-23T18:03:49Z

This is such a polished title. I love the simple Zelda style gameplay, it seems like it left a lot more room for y'all to flex your design skills. The dungeons, the enemies, the bosses, everything was really neat and interesting, and played off your abilities really well. I love how the environment asks you to use your abilities all the time, there's always some trick to getting from point A to B. My favorite was probably the electric dungeon, loved the look, sounds, and mechanics there. The only real criticism I can think of is maybe making ledges a little harder to fall into, I feel like I fell into them accidentally all the time lol.

This was really fun! I liked the lanes mechanic on top of it being a deckbuilder. It did feel a little easy, and I think the lack of challenge led to me missing some of the game's nuances until later in the story. Loved the narrative and art design tho, and y'all killed it on all things polish too. With some balancing and more content I could totally see this on Steam.

Throes of the Javelin by MatterLinx 2024-04-24T16:06:29Z

This was so good dude! I love the mechanics of the spear, the level design, and the overall vibe. This is probably the most interesting mechanic I've seen all jam and y'all knocked it out of the park! I think I missed a section up top early on and found that climbing with the spear is rather difficult, could just be on purpose that I can't get back up there tho I would have liked to be able to.

Mobius by Jerem Watts 2024-04-24T00:20:03Z

This was really cool! I like the open ended-ness of both the map itself and how I was able to traverse it. Accelerating via crouch dashing was sooooo satisfying. I'm also a big fan of the art style and general mood. Made me think of Dusk which is one of my favs. The audio logs were really fun too, I liked the wrestler one. Could use a system for giving players (very loose) direction when they get stuck.

Uncanny Inscriptions by Juss 2024-04-22T15:26:24Z

I love love love the design of everything artistically. The ambience and music is great and the creature designs are really cool! The mechanics, while a bit unpolished are really fun too. It was a fun puzzle trying to figure out how to connect the lines so that each summon would work. I do wish there was some form of tutorial or guide on how to draw the secondary shape for items because I got stuck on those a few times.

HELLSPAWNER by Thomas Gelman 2024-04-22T15:50:54Z

Very Epic! This was a lot of fun!

Spooky by TheMaxi7 2024-04-23T18:39:16Z

Neat game! I like the spooky vibes and the basic game loop, they were very simple but worked well and were pretty fun. I would have liked to see a little enemy variety or potentially some extra actions/phases for the boss. I didn't really get how to use the glowing "I to summon" ball either

Espionausage: Wiener Takes All by IonBingo 2024-10-07T23:01:33Z

Took me a minute to understand what was going on but after reading the directions I was fine. Really neat concept! It was a lot of fun trying to keep up with the timer, and the sausage is very silly. Cool art style!

I think an easy improvements would be to add some guide UI, to help give the player direction in game. Also the eyeball design of the suspicion meter made me think it was tied to being seen and not time taken.
