LD55 — Summoning

Summon Death by TheMadPangolin 2024-04-17T20:26:18Z

Lovely little infinite bullet hell! Just fun to play. The number of spawns from the enemy get overwhelming pretty fast, my best was 12. The different upgrades feel really well balanced against each other, range and health feel way more useful than they usually do in a game like this.

Blood, Sweat and Seals by Achiru 2024-04-16T14:10:27Z

I really like the core mechanical idea of this game, drawing glyphs and getting unique summons out of them, but on my first run through I beat the game using only the Fighter and the Tank without even getting a hint of any other summon existing, despite trying all kinds of shapes in the circle. I found Kamikaze and Assault later, but was never able to actually summon an Assault with the circle. More guidelines for how to draw glyphs / a more responsive circle would be a huge improvement!

Hell's Kitchen by Zanar 2024-04-16T18:00:23Z

I like the concept and the music and executing orders feels good when it works, but the short timers on the customers are really overwhelming and the game frequently softlocked when a customer's timer ran out while trying to perform an incantation.

VampIrO by nox282 2024-04-17T20:54:10Z

I like the concept but the game didn't work very well for me. The different enemies all seemed to behave the same as allies, so there wasn't really much strategy in which to pick to use, and after a while I started constantly taking damage without any indicator of why or where from. The minions also felt like they died very rapidly.

Summoning Sun by Kamuniaft 2024-04-16T17:06:41Z

Really fun and innovative concept! Even though it wasn't too difficult, it felt very intense all the way through. The only issue I had playing was that the slow following of the mouse hurt a lot during the outer circle rotations where you need to move pretty dang fast, but by the end of the sequence I really felt like I'd mastered blending in with the dance.

Summing Circle by Rawb 2024-04-17T20:40:17Z

Fun little puzzle, very unique! I think it'd need just a bit more depth to be playable every day in a newspaper, but as a one off it was great.

Globeba by Saturnyoshi 2024-04-16T15:20:42Z

Feels just like playing the old 2D Zelda games! The art and audio are unbeatable as always and the dungeon design is awesome. My only major complaint was with the snapping to rock mechanic, which caused me to have to a few rooms due to moving the rock when I didn't want to, and falling into pits was a bit too easy, but that's a classic for old Zelda.

Summito by RoughSkin 2024-04-17T00:28:23Z

The visual polish on this game is great, which drew me in. Unfortunately the gameplay didn't catch me, I ended up getting a good set of cards in the first few rounds and then just pressing basic summon followed immediately by sell all over and over took me all the way to the end of the game completely brainlessly with a hundred thousand extra dollars to spare.

Dr. Kappasigma's Summoning Training by Crygos 2024-04-16T23:41:26Z

Hilarious parody! I did miss some text unfortunately, the mouse skipping is a little overzealous. The virgin sacrifice sound is a bit overly loud too. Got a score of 646! Not quite there...

Where Have All the Globbletops Gone? by redoplus 2024-04-19T14:18:34Z

Beautiful animation, sounds, and story. My only complaint was that interacting with your held items is a little tricky. Every single Globbletops is a wonderfully unique specimen.

Creature Conjurers by Tao Yuanyue 2024-04-16T17:48:12Z

There's not a lot of depth to just programmatically going through every possible combination of two items, but the art and flavor text makes it worth it and it plays smoothly! Cool to see we weren't the only ones who thought of an object summoning game.

Demon Delivery Center by Franco Farallo 2024-04-16T17:32:10Z

I like the concept and the flavor, but the game gives you next to no time to read up on all the demons, wizards, and dungeons, and it was really difficult to decipher what made a particular kind of demon more or less appropriate for a certain task. I would've loved to just have some breathing room to read all that sweet flavor text!

Hell's On Hold by OblivionCreator 2024-04-16T13:57:54Z

Love a unique interpretation of the theme! Figuring out how to get the most information while asking the least questions is an interesting challenge. I didn't end up really using the notes because moving between the book, computer, and notes for information feels a little tedious. It might've been nice to have the information easier to toggle between or more dense, but honestly the tedium's kind of perfect for a desk job.

Fetch! with Molly by XanaGear 2024-04-16T17:18:37Z

Cute game! I like the way the dog flies around and the golf courses are well designed with a lot of neat shortcut and trick potential. I found myself wishing I could control the camera at least a little bit to see around trees or see upcoming parts of the course, and falling in a pit started to feel especially punishing with later levels.

Mana Mayhem by Stormblessed 2024-04-17T20:05:14Z

An interesting bullet hell. It feels completely impossible to get enough mana to actually kill enemies anywhere close to the rate they come out. Dying with time slow active on my first run caused my second run to be bugged to have time slow constantly active without using mana, which actually made the game way more possible to keep up with and was kind of fun!

Hexing Hour by CypherNat 2024-04-16T23:26:11Z

This is fun! I stopped at wave 20 since it was starting to feel repetitive by then, but balancing collecting resources with shooting enemies is a very engaging loop. I like all the art, the enemies are funky little guys. With more enemy variety I could see this being very addictive!

Summoning Tower by Julian France 2024-04-17T00:03:59Z

The base mechanics are fun, it's interesting to have a tower defense with so much more real time interaction from the player. Picking up drops, having to place towers near the player, and using key combos to pick your tower all play into eachother very effectively. My main complaints were that doing the starting round with just your puny sword and no towers got old very fast, and I never managed to find a way to actually get a significant dent in the boss enemy before it exited.
