A bit laggy but the game is really fun, with great DA

flashlight13 2023-10-02 21:47

Awesome idea! I feel like spinning the world might not be the best way to control the planet on the PC, specially when you need to peek on some other space to decide. Otherwise, well done!

karlo5o 2023-10-03 05:29

@alexis8 Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear, that it was laggy for you, it never occured for us. What browser do you use? :)

karlo5o 2023-10-03 05:30

@flashlight13 Thank you for your feedback! :)

mrpig 2023-10-03 10:07

A god game is always welcome, easy to learn, not as easy to master :) Good job!

robin-schmitz 2023-10-03 10:17

Lovely game :) I enjoyed building a planet which would be somewhat realistic with a town in the "center", farms around and nature opposite of the city. Until a volcano destroyed my plan and I started again :) Smooth controls, easy to get addicted :) I also like the art and that you can see the upcoming land parts. Keep up the good work :)

falestress 2023-10-03 10:18

Very cool ! Really nice to have several difficulty modes! I really like art! GG

jrf 2023-10-03 10:20

Very nice atmosphere! I think the tutorial should have shown that it is possible to combine some of tiles to create new ones. Now I had to stumble upon the help screen on my own after a few tries. I think the controls shoudl snap to the tiles instead of this smooth movement as it would make it a bit easier and faster to move around the planet.

But all in all this is a very polished feeling game with a great idea, good job!

owly 2023-10-03 17:45

Attractive game! Interesting mechanics. I really liked the sounds and graphics.

mantsje 2023-10-03 18:11

Nice game and fun interpretation of the game! An amazing art style and complete feeling thanks to the tutorial and help screens and such. I think I spotted some times where two areas did not seem to combine entirely correctly, but otherwise a great feeling overall

kewdev 2023-10-03 18:18

Solid entry, really enjoyed the easy to understand mechanics, controls and the implementation of a leaderboard, reaching the top wasn't hard, but it did feel rewarding!

sirmichel 2023-10-03 18:24

Well space was really limited, but nowI'm the owner of this nice certificate

Great game, I really liked it

kiberptah 2023-10-03 18:40

What I liked: - Good take on the theme - Polish - Graphics - Music

What I didn't like - Sometimes it feels a bit random and unfair, for example I had quite low population and then for 10 tiles i didn't get anything that would increase it, and usually everything would decrease it a bit. Maybe it would be nice to have some reshuffles. - Natural disasters can't be removed, basically every planet is doomed for failure. While it's not a problem in itself, combining with little size of a planet and high randomness and creates rather unfair runs sometimes.

Suggestions: - Add limited "reshuffles" for the tiles you are about to place or ability to discard the tile. - Make natural disasters disappear over time or have some special tile that could erase them.

Also, there's a bug, when connecting gamepad, music slider goes to the bottom and can't be brought back. Basically meaning there's no music for gamepad gamers. I have brand new DualSense, so it shouldn't have any significant issues with drift and work fine in any other game...

ps: ok I see screenshot that tell me that it is possible to win the game, I actually was very close :)

owca 2023-10-03 19:08

The game is very polished (especially for a game jam). I like the artstyle very much.

I found myself looking at the symbols in the upper right corner for most of the time almost totally ignoring the planet view. Maybe moving them inside the planet would help but maybe it's just me being weird :P Anyway - nice game! :)

karlo5o 2023-10-03 19:46

@kiberptah Thanks for the comprehensive feedback. It is weird what happened with controller, we tried it with different gamepads and everything worked just fine with sticks controlling the sliders.

markais 2023-10-03 20:00

I like the art style! I had the same problem as @owca - staring at the symbols most of the time.

bellicapelli 2023-10-03 20:29

Nice concept and presentation. I'm assuming the tiles are just randomly selected, but it would be nice for them to be weighted somewhat since it seems like you can get served an impossible hand. Still enjoyed it though!

nathmate 2023-10-04 01:56

Cool concept for a game. I found myself wanting a bit more information out of the UI, such as what tiles would make which resources go up\down and by how much. Similarly if I was going to replace or combine a tile an indication as to how it would change the resources before I did it would be helpful.

ezard94 2023-10-04 15:49

Great game which make me think of Reigns for the DA and the gameplay where your resources must not be too low or too high. One small thing annoyed me was after releasing the button to turn the world, the world continue to spin for a short time like a real wheel. It's a nice effect when you begin but it become unpleasant when you play more and you prefer more precise controls.

mncc8337 2023-10-04 16:30

i love the UI and the artwork very much. this game fit the theme very well. the only thing dislike is that the momentun of the planet when rotating is too high. nice work!

minjutin 2023-10-04 17:01

Finally a city builder I enjoy to play, lol. I love the your humourour touch with leaderboard and the lore in general, and art style is really cute and professional looking in all its simpilicity. Being able to update some tiles added a nice extra layer. During my second game I got 3 volcanoes, it was kinda catastrophical (didn't survive that one)

phoenixstroh 2023-10-04 17:30

a very polished game that feels a little hollow at times. I really liked the assets and the overall look of the game but the gameplay feels a little flat. i appreciate the different game modes! nice job :)

rend 2023-10-04 18:11

Nice aesthetics and music, really soothing mood. The gauges remind me of Reigns, with more granularity to it. But in the end, I was just looking at them and not at the beautiful planet

agk 2023-10-05 15:12

It took awhile for me to get it and understand how the game works. But I found that balancing those different resources is such a cool idea and I had fun with it! The art looks crisp too! Well done!

somewan 2023-10-06 10:54

The design is incredibly innovative. The rotating presentation in gameplay is quite unique and captivating. In terms of concept, the environmental theme conveyed through the idea that once it becomes a disastrous landscape, it can no longer be used for other purposes, leaves a profound impression on me. The visuals are clean, vibrant, and the colors harmonize well. Overall, it's a fantastic creation.

notnasiul 2023-10-10 10:27

Nice! I only lasted 20 years, though. I love its minimalistic style, and reminds me of Reigns in terms of balancing the three resources. Well done!

fis 2023-10-10 14:56

Really beautiful game - simple and easy to understand. The slow rotation of the planet first bothered me - but then I realized "there is no need to rush". The background music is easing - overall a very nice experience.

sparklingsushi 2023-10-10 18:32

Congratz of finishing the project under 3 days! Simple and calm game, had some chill time playing it. Yet, i didn't really understand some mechanics, it wasn't clear for me that tavern can evolve some other fields when i put it onto. After some time i realized that i'm looking mostly on markers in right up corner rather than the planet. Maybe they should be visualized on it? not sure. Anyway, really solid submission, good work and see you on the next one!

ruslana 2023-10-10 21:58

Interesting concept with simple solution. We had a similar idea about saving the planet but denied it because we didn't come up with a good simplification.

The art is simple but well done and everything comes together well in this game.

kiv 2023-10-11 21:11

great entry! I rally enjoyed the game (30 years in a row).

tayteus 2023-10-12 09:04

So polished game with a lot of details to see. Your art style is very cool, I really liked it. We tried a game not so far from your concept if you want to try it. 😉

tomrijnbeek 2023-10-12 09:52

The level of polish in this game is great. The music and graphics felt consistent, and the difficulty level was tuned nicely. I didn't realise I would actually win after 50 years, but it's nice I didn't _have_ to end with destroying the planet. I can see a lot of potential for also allowing adjacency bonuses to add another layer of complexity to the game, perhaps for a full version of this game?

The arrow keys + spacebar controls made rotating a bit slow at times, but I can appreciate the choice to also support gamepads. Not something you see often in game jam games, so I really like including that!

svenerik 2023-10-12 10:03

Very neat game. I love the overall polish of it, feels like an finished product on that side. Graphics are wonderful and the music is very fitting. Game-play was solid, though as always with jam games, you get the feel that there could be so much more and this case it's also that, so much room for merry ideas! Awesome project though! ^^

mr-bluecap 2023-10-12 11:03

This was a lot of fun and a really clever idea. It reminds me of the Reigns game - not sure if you took inspiration - but I like those games. The music was great, the visuals were nicely stylized and very cohesive, and the mechanics were simple and intuitive. Would've loved to be able to do something with the disasters - whether is be erasing them, moving them, or getting new tiles based on the disaster (like an oasis that can only be placed on a desert). If this were an actual app, I'd be addicted - awesome job!

qyq 2023-10-12 11:21

I like it!!!I get "46 years" score!!!

lcstark 2023-10-12 16:31

Really nice and polished jam game! Despite being a game about "going through your final exam", it feels really relaxing. :)

Everything feels really well made - from the main menu with sound settings and difficulty options, through the introduction / tutorial, to the game itself. Graphically, the game looks beautiful. Soundwise, everything has its appropriate sound, and the background music makes the whole experience pretty chill.

One small bug I found - after you start a new game again (whether you've won or lost the previous one) and place your first building, you can hear the sound of dialogue letters appearing on the screen, and it keeps playing for several seconds like the dialog was being shown somewhere in the background. Though you can stop it sooner by placing a second tile, so it's not that big of an issue.

lgb.png

I really hope you'll keep working on it. I can see a lot of potential ways to expand on this idea, so I'm interested to see which way you'd take it. :)

skel3ton 2023-10-12 17:53

nice and pleasant game. the graphics look like from some studio and at first glance I wouldn't guess that this is an entry LD jam

the game doesn't rush me and that suits me. But to die from lack of nature because I didn't get any nature for a long time seemed a bit unfair and unbalanced. Still a great game.. I enjoyed it

christian-witt-martin 2023-10-12 18:59

Overall a pleasant and enjoyable game. Some of the controls were a little unresponsive for me, and I feel like the win/lose condition is kind of murky (i.e. I was trying to "fill" my three gauges for the longest time until I realized that also parallels the lose condition). Still, playing is a fun and relaxing experience, and the soundtrack, movement, and mood is well done.

digitaldude555 2023-10-13 17:42

Nicely polished, very appealing to look at, I agree with the users that says the options should just snap to the tiles, would be better, Outcomes do rely on randomness a bit, I 100% agree with the shuffle suggestion. The graphics are the best part. Good job.

flaterectomy 2023-10-13 18:53

My first play through, I made it 45 years, and then I saw the goal is 50 years. Ope, pretty close! After playing some more, It didn't occur to me that I shouldn't reach max levels either, I learned that after inexplicably losing and reading the instructions again. A clearer indication that filling the icons up is bad too would've revealed that sooner.

Playing some more, I felt struck by bad luck at times, getting a bunch of disasters close together and none of the Nature that I really needed. My first thought would be to have a mechanism that lets you purchase something you need, on a cool down. But adding mechanics isn't something you can freely do in a game jam, I get it!

All in all a very polished entry, I quite like the art and soothing sounds!

PS - As an example of the randomness ruling the game, I just kept spinning the wheel of the planet in one direction and spammed tiles as they were presented wherever I happened to hover, and got a victory.

betovf 2023-10-16 07:38

Nice entry! I would suggest that the effect of disasters could dissapear after X years so you can recover those tiles :nerd:

thecaptainbuster 2023-10-16 13:52

I really loved the graphics on this one! Was a little confusing at first, but then I Got the hang of it! Really great game!

lincolnsalles 2023-10-20 14:32

The graphics are good, although low poly, which is not my personal taste, but I think it is well accepted nowadays, it seems that most people like it. The visuals are well executed and the sounds are not annoying. I think the fun factor is low, something is missing. I kept moving the planet, adding one thing there and another here, managing the 3 pillars so as not to break them, but I didn't see much incentive to continue playing for a long time. I don't know what could be added to make it fun. Overall I found it a little repetitive, although it is an excellent jam work and very well executed. I think it's just my personal taste
