LD54 — Limited Space

Wow, what a fantastic game. It's hard for me to believe that you accomplished all of this in such a short time frame. The controls were unintuitive to me at first and I actually had to dive into the comments to figure out how to play (you have to right-click to aim before firing with LMB if anyone's curious), but once I understood the controls the feel was top notch. Implementing a functional skill tree in this time frame is crazy, even if it is a rather simple one. And everything from the graphics to the sfx to the text between rounds contributes to a strong and singular mood. Overall, great job.

Compress(space) by Fahim Faysal 2023-10-08T19:03:05Z

Not only an exceptionally innovative concept, but also exceptionally fun. Great work! With more time I'm sure this game could be expanded upon and be a great project.

Whack-a-Soul by JavaSaurus 2023-10-08T18:50:08Z

Incredibly fun and energetic game with a lot of room for replay. Great work!

The bubble mechanic was interesting and fun; I enjoy seeing little tweaks on the bullet-hell formula. Combined with the limit-break, it added a lot of depth to the game. The difficulty curve was a bit too brutal for me to be able to beat, but it was still a fun concept.

Last God's Bidding by Daxic 2023-10-12T18:59:41Z

Overall a pleasant and enjoyable game. Some of the controls were a little unresponsive for me, and I feel like the win/lose condition is kind of murky (i.e. I was trying to "fill" my three gauges for the longest time until I realized that also parallels the lose condition). Still, playing is a fun and relaxing experience, and the soundtrack, movement, and mood is well done.

Calves of the Braves by Furano 2023-10-08T19:20:32Z

Great job! I think I might have bugged the game out a couple of times (SFX stopped working at one point which seemed strange), but it was still a lot of fun regardless.

What to leave behind? by Owinmowe 2023-10-03T15:50:49Z

Such a gentle, soothing experience. I was surprised to find myself reflecting on the items I own in real life and my relationship with them. Very well done.

FROUST! by Kupnu4 2023-10-12T18:24:22Z

Dude. Why do I enjoy this game so much? The premise is so simple, but the polish makes it incredibly addictive. Great feel, especially working within the time constraint.

Whiskers in the Dark by Diego Teran 2023-10-11T18:45:07Z

Dang that last level was tough! Took me way longer than it should have, but was still a good time. I see a ton of speedrunning potential with this. Despite being very cute and not having any real time pressure, I still felt a ton of tension, especially when I was near the end of a level and worrying about having to be reset to the beginning. Very well done.

Angler by Robean 2023-10-03T16:00:56Z

I was severely underestimating the game's ability to be scary and it made me jump, so that alone deserves some props lol. Very cool and spooky vibe particularly after falling down the mine shaft, I really enjoyed how the lights look a bit like giant eyes in the dark.

Escape The Phantom Seascape! by Tao Yuanyue 2023-10-18T18:16:26Z

Like many others have said, this game has such cool art direction. Some of the hints were a bit obtuse for me, so I needed a bit of help at a couple points, but it was a cool experience nonetheless. Something you all incorporated that I love is when I already know the solutions to a puzzle and I can speedrun it, bypassing sections that would otherwise be needed to gain the information. I hate when a game makes me wait artificially and you all avoided that (except the one section near the end with the cook, but that's nitpicking I think). Great work, and I'm so impressed at all you accomplished in such a short time frame.

Diminutive Dungeon Draft! by Maste 2023-10-12T18:49:18Z

As a first game this was very well done! I feel like the core premise here is very strong, you were just hampered by time constraints. With more polish I think this game could be great.

Cold and Unforgiving by ViktorTheGreat 2023-10-03T15:28:14Z

Well done! Definitely a very atmospheric trip. It would be cool to see how it all plays out.

Troubled Turtles by Aviv Levy 2023-10-18T18:50:13Z

Wow, what an incredible game; it's one of my favorites of this jam. The satisfaction I got from beating level 11 felt like beating a final boss...only to discover I had 6 more levels afterwards haha. I enjoyed the introduction of the "arrow change" mechanic to keep things fresh as well. I do think the tutorial levels could have been improved a bit, as some were almost too intuitive, if that's possible. I would try to experiment with the instructions and mechanics, only to accidentally solve the level without really being given time to process the lessons I was meant to learn. Perhaps having progression to the next level be manual instead of automatic would help with this? Still, the gameplay is pretty simple so even learning it down the road wasn't difficult. Finally, the unsung (pun intended) hero of this game is the music. Such a catchy tune, I really loved it.

Mosh Pint by Dan Miller 2023-10-03T15:35:37Z

The level of polish on this is great. For one of the levels I just sat there for a good minute letting the track play out. Great job!

Pathfinder by rsaamar 2023-10-13T20:08:41Z

Thanks everyone for all of the feedback so far. This was my first game jam and I got everything I bargained for and then some. I appreciate your insights, constructive criticism and kind words!

Tiny Tower by Martin Bousquet 2023-10-03T16:30:26Z

So good that I've played it all the way through...twice! Really great work. I do wish there was some sort of ending for the second "phase" that wasn't just "the game is over" though.

A Bit Too Hot by Kris3 2023-10-12T19:18:13Z

Congratulations on participating in your first game jam! I think there were some cool elements to your project. Ultimately I think a few things hampered your game: lack of constraints, high mouse sensitivity, no cooldown on lift mechanic rendering it overpowered, no penalty from dying/taking damage, no on map indicator of direction or goal (ending cutscene sort of came out of nowhere imo). As is, it is more of an "experience" than a game, but good work nonetheless.

Don't Touch The Pylon. by Ezard94 2023-10-12T18:16:20Z

A fun game, but I feel like there was something I didn't really "get". Was I trying to break out of the prison? Was there some theme that I was missing? I was interested, but I wish I could experience more out of the game. Which I suppose is a great thing from a game jam! Overall, very well done.
