Great game, love the art style!
Panic is the key operating word here :). It's a nice idea but I'd balance the difficulty down a bit at the start to get the hang of the game. The artstyle is really nice too.
Nice game. I see that the game is for another theme :wink:
I think the difficulty of the game is too high.
1. The timing is too short to move around 2. The collision in a few place is really tricky to move into 3. Having to remember where to drop the parcel is really hard. 4. Dropping parcel into the wrong place "works" and for a few games I thought I was doing the right thing. 5. Took me a long time to figure out where the buildings are.
I do enjoy the few minutes I had with it, perhaps drop the difficulty will make it more enjoyable.
@devnugget Thank you so much!
@gibss Thank you! I'll definitely keep that in mind
@zwodahs Haha, it definitely fits a different theme a lot better. Thank you for the great feedback! The parcel dropped in the wrong place is something I would have to definitely look into. I am currently getting ideas for implementing an easy difficulty and hard difficulty :thinking:
Great submission! Superb aesthetic and I loved the chaotic nature of gameplay. Well done!
@ethankessler Thanks so much!
The art is really well done! I found the gameplay a bit too difficult tough. It would be nice if the parcels would always show where they are supposed to go. Now, if you forget to check right when you pic one up, there's no way to tell afterwards.
Beautiful and very stressful game, haha!
I love the art and the music. The idea and chaotic nature of the game are pretty fun too. Timers go out way too fast IMHO and fences are not clearly visible so it quickly gets frustrating. Maybe if the chaos was introduced gradually the player could handle it better?
Great job anyways!
Cool game, too hard though imo. There's so much to keep track of at the same time, I think if you got rid of some of the energy punishments and polished the controls and collsions a bit this game could really shine! The graphics are easily the best part and the music is also pretty good, good job!
@munkkeli Thanks so much! Yeah, the difficulty of the game could probably be toned down a bit haha
@caudatecoder Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind
@jakobthequizguy Thanks a lot! Yeah, I also think that some of the collisions and controls could use a little bit of polish haha
Can't get past 10 x) Too much going on and the bug that make the destination name disappear is quite annoying x)
Other than that the idea is really cool, the art is good too and the music is neat. Without the collisions that are everywhere and maybe with a difficulty curve a little but more smooth it would be awesome. You could definitely continue working on this game!
Great work overall! :clap:
@mathiouza Thanks so much! Actually, the name of the destinations disappearing are actually intended because I thought it would add a little more difficulty/chaos :sweat_smile: but now that I look at it, I didn't really make it apparent that it was haha
I think this game is an accurate representation of how fast people want their deliveries these days ;) The first few rounds I got 0 points and felt quite accomplished when I made it to 5! The art style and colors are really nice, one thing I didn't like were some of the very narrow collisions that made it very hard to navigate in some places. But all in all really good entry, congrats!
@dent Thanks a lot! Yeah, that's a pretty accurate description of this game haha. I agree, after taking a look a little more after submission, there were some tight collisions and hitboxes that I could have made better.
This was a great looking game, and I actually think the controls are pretty tight. No complaints there. I liked having to learn where the houses were, it felt like I was really becoming a mail carrier! I agree with others that it's too hard though. Seems like the label that tells you what building to drop off a parcel at goes away after only a few seconds. Does this mean the delivery can't be completed even though the parcel is still in your inventory? It wasn't clear to me. Either way, it was a fun chaotic little game :)
A great game with nice art but like the others say it's a bit too difficult ! I think the problem is that we have to learn the buildings position with a very short delay and pick up the objects at the same time. Even if I love the color palet, maybe unique color or other visual marker specific to each building could help the player to make a mental link which help him to know where to go easier ?
@nick-rafalski Thanks so much! It was actually intended for the destinations to disappear, so you would have to remember the destination soon after you pick it up. You are still able to deliver it though! But yeah, I didn't really make it clear in the game itself haha, so that's on me
@dedjo0 Thanks a lot! Actually, making the buildings color-coded was one of the options that crossed my mind, but somehow, it just left when I noticed the deadline approaching haha
I actually had a heap of fun playing this, but my god is it difficult haha.
Great art, sound and style. Made me learn the layout of the little town which was actually kind of fun.
Great stuff!
Would love to get your opinion on my game if you're playing other games!
@nafe Thanks so much! Sure thing, I'll check it out
Great feel! Loved the art style and audio, really made for a cohesive experience. Trying to find the buildings while tracking the parcels was a bit difficult. Maybe the text on the buildings could have been higher contrast so they took less time to spot? Otherwise a really solid game, and definitely fits the theme. Nice work!
Super difficult and frantic, but looks and sounds awesome! I also noticed how you learn the map over time and intuitively know where to go for "building K" (sort of like a real delivery person would). Great job! :)
I agree with another comment stating it would be great if the game started easy and progressively got more difficult. I would also give players a chance to get more familiar with the map too. But other than that, it's a well polished game and you really captured the "panic" aspect without giving me nightmares lol.
The game looks great, although it takes some time to get used to the gameplay
Pros: - simple and straightforward concept - the high pace of the game is only beneficial - all visuals and color palette in particular
Cons: -it's really hard :)
I really liked the game, the artstyle looked really nice and the music was really good, it was way too hard at the start but I got the hang of it, and it was really fun!
Yeah like everyone said there is simply too much information to process in too little time, but thats more a question of game balance which is hard to do in 48 hours, other wise nicely done game with good art and good music.
Very well designed and soft music. Unfortunately things happen too fast! There is no time to reason. If that was your goal, you did it!
Congratulations!
Cute but little hard game. Quite often, the parcel address is hidden.
@ludokultur @greenradiation @goddoesplaydice @driagonv @digitaldude555 @euler-moises @artonix Thanks so much everyone! Yeah, I definitely wanted to make a difficult game, but ultimately made a game that was a little too difficult haha
@skyward4d Thanks a lot! Yeah, some of the important details could have definitely been easier to see
It's a beautfil game that feels like a HD version of paper boy. The artstyle and music are really nice. I enjoyed the hectic gameplay but maybe add a small curve so you can get a bit use to it prior initiating the insanity of boxes >D
@binaryprinciple Thanks so much!
Panicking doesn't win you this game! Skill does? I don't have the skillzz :D Great pixelated graphics, love it. Great bfxr/sfxr (?) sounds. The music is top. The difficulty is quite brutal though, as many people mentioned.
@pcmaster Thanks a lot!
The art style very well done. The sprites are exceptional! The gameplay is pretty easy to understand though the terrain and the package time limit can be difficult, especially the fences which could stand out more to indicate a wall. I feel like many others do. The package destination disappearing is probably unnecessary since I pick up a package and my brain focuses on the next package I need to deliver which is, most of the time, not the one I picked up. By the time I get to that one, I have no idea where it needs to go. Maybe adding stamps or some kind of color coding on the package to indicate the building would be a neat addition if you want to keep the disappearing destination mechanic.
Overall, good work!
@polkoii Thanks so much!
Pretty art and lovely colours. The game is very hard and unforgiving - the timers are quick, the buildings marking don't pop and the roads are a bit too slim for the the characters size and speed.
I think slowing the game down and maybe reducing the character size would improve the game.
Music and sounds are gentle and lovely, work well with the game.
All that said - very impressive work for one person in two days!
@jakier Thanks so much! Yeah, overall is definitely quite difficult haha, appreciate the feedback!
Definitely gonna echo the difficulty feedback, best I got was 11 packages. I liked the graphics and that the game was really easy to understand. Felt like the letters could be highlighted in some way or the energy pickups could spawn more often if you wanted to make it a bit easier. Great work though :)
The difficulty of the game, that many people felt, would not be a problem if it was brought gradually. It may be a good idea to use all the suggestions in previous comments to make the game easier, and removing as the player progresses.
- lower global speed (player movement and energy loss). - parcels and energy bar stays longer on the ground, then you make them stay shorter. - the parcel destination is directly marked on the map and does not go away. - then the parcel destination is indicated on the bottom, as it is now, but it does not go away. - then the parcel destination goes away. - then some parcels may be heavier and slows you down when you carry too much of them (instead of decreasing your energy faster, which you don't really realize while you play). - then, why not making it more difficult than it is now ? Remove the letters on the buildings ! After all, you know this place by heart now.
The possibility to cycle between the parcels you own may also be a good thing. So that you can optimize your deliveries. To keep track, in your own memories, of the parcels destination, they could look different. Like in the reality.
I really liked the small world where you are. The road to the left is here to show this world is inside a greater one, but you know nothing of it. It increases the microcosm effect. While playing, I felt like the local hero of the quarter, the person who everybody knows, and who is useful for everybody.
I really like the fact that you put different building types. A, B, C, I, J and K are clearly house of rich people, with fences to be protected from the others. D, E and F looks like middle-class houses. G and H are big buildings where all the poors pack themselves. Even in a small world like that you can make appear social differences, which is an interesting idea.
The post office may not be a good idea. It suggests that this small world has contacts with the outer world. I would have put a more local building : "the janitor desk" or something like that.
An idea comes to me while I'm writing this comment. You should have different types of parcels, and use them as collectibles in the game. You could have a menu where you see the list of all the collectibles you gained, and read their descriptions.
You could have parcel types that clearly shows that the expeditor and destinator hate each other, and other that shows they love each other, or many other feelings.
Here are some ideas :
- a letter with a heart drawn on it, - a present that looks really expensive, - a postcard that you can read, - a letter whose address is written like : "old dork Jack", - a parcel with white powder on it, - a beer pack, - a parcel that smells shit, - a dead animal, - a bullet, - ...
As you play a game, you could imagine and guess the life of all the people in the microcosm, as you learn which type of things they send to each other. How would you feel, as the local delivery hero, when you end up knowing everything of all you neighbors ?
When a game starts, you could randomly choose some specific situations, that the player would discover progressively : a rich house that sends parcels with white powder to all the middle-class and poor buildings, two middle-class neighbors that sends normal parcels at the beginning and then hate parcels (bullets, dead animals, ...), expensive presents sent from a poor building to a rich house without any returns, love between a rich and a poor, ...
Whoa, I realized I totally tripped on this game. That was cool. Thank you for your game. Do what you want with all these weird ideas.
@sleepystudios Thanks so much!
@recher Thanks a lot for the very in-depth feedback! I appreciate all of the various ideas and suggestions you have offered. Will definitely keep them in mind if I want to continue with developing this game a little further.
I actually did have ideas to make various different parcels attached to certain buildings and such as well as some of the things you mentioned like slower movement speed carrying more parcels and dropping any parcel you carry. But the time I had these ideas were when I noticed the deadline approaching so I left it at what I felt like was playable/decent to focused on other core things haha. Maybe if I do decide to continue with this game, I will refine it with all of these ideas in mind.
Though it took me a few minutes to understand the objective, the game was super enjoyable. The fast movement speed made the game quite chaotic and the graphics were great!
@alvan-arulandu Thanks so much!
The art is awesome. The way you've fit everything together is amazing an easy to read. Especially given the time you had to do it! The only issue I had while playing was getting stuck between the building while rushing about. Everything else I felt was pretty spot on, great entry!
@glaikunt Thank you so much!
