Played this game for a couple minutes. Quite cryptic, the lack of instructions/clear goals really confused me. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. Sometime I destroy enemies and stay in an empty scene for a few seconds. Sometime the scene just changes while I'm fighting baddies. Sometimes hitting the top of the screen kills me, sometime not. Background art makes it quite hard to read the information present on screen.
Hi! I am sorry but I can't play the game because I don't know how to run it. When using unity the best thing you can do is to deploy it on itch as an html web app. Just make sure to turn compression off in the build settings or it won't run in some firefoxes.
Or alternativly provide an exe and whatever is used on linux :) (But seriously the web app is so much more comfortable and will make sure much more people play your game.)
Notify me using @ and my username when you fixed it and I'll gladly come back, play and rate your game :)
Neat little game! I like the mechanic of different polarity beams depending on the enemy. I found the green guys to be a little too difficult, in fact I have not managed to kill even one because they just go waaay too fast when they're small. It seems like the amount of hits they take should be a bit lower. Otherwise, fun! I wish I could see what's at the end
I confess I got confused on the gameplay. There were no clear goals. Should I go top? Maybe down? When the enemies appear should I use the left click or right click? Is there a score?
I have a ultrawide monitor, so I think the scaling didn't help either. I saw a 0/9 half cutted on the corner of my screen and didn't understand what I had to do. But I really liked the idea, and the graphics were pretty ok.
Good one, keep it going!
I agree with the comment above, the lack of instructions makes it quite confusing. The actual beam mechanic seems pretty interesting though, with how enemies can react differently to the type of beam, that's pretty cool!
Definitely has potential but I honestly had no idea what I was doing or what was different from red and blue lines. Pretty sure I suck at the game though lol.
This game is hard! I made it to the fourth layer, but that was tough. The green enemies are very hard to fight, I think they move too fast.
A few ideas that I think could make the game much enjoyable: - Make sure to spawn the enemies away enough of the player when he comes to the next level: often times I died before being able to do anything because the enemies where overlapping me as I entered the level. - Maybe you could prevent the player from going backward accidentally: when I try to avoid the green enemies, I go back sometimes because I am too close to the upper bound. - Maybe make it clearer for the player that the different buttons of the mouse are for different enemies. There are indeed visual clues, but it was not obvious to me before a moment playing it.
For the short amount of time of the compo, it is still good to have something playable, even with its little imperfections. Congratulations for making it!
@loonydrope Thanks for the constructive feedback :)
- I did notice the mobs spawning on the player myself, but alas had no time left to fix it.
- The player going back up is meant as a feature, the Red enemies (pillars) who spawn blocks also attempt to push you up to the upper bound to get you set back to the previous level.
- You are definitely right in that it could be more obvious which beam to use for which enemy, or the fact that you have different beams, however I thought it would be fun for the player to have that eureka moment of figuring it out :)
@noel-widmer You can download the .rar for windows and the .zip for linux, then after this you can simply run, or unpack and then run. In your case my guess is windows, so open the archive with winrar or 7-zip and double click the .exe file
@mathewcst Hahaha yeah that scaling issue is a thing indeed o-o. Next time I will make the instructions more clear for the user Thanks for the feedback :)
@TheGreenWorm The goal is to go deeper, so going down raises the depth in which you are playing. You hitting the top is the goal for the mobs, and is disabled once you have finished all the mobs so you cannot accidentally go back up. You go to the next level by hitting the black portal on the bottom after the mobs are dead :)
@DeliciousSalad The Green guys have -purple- eyes, hint, hint ;)
@ThatmanRobin Its all in the eyes ;)
@OrbitalBlueprint Thank you kind person :)
FUN!

I like the look of the game, especially the background. The mechanic was interesting too.
I like the enemy design of these green bush animals ;) Game design is simple and understandable, one color for one enemy.
@chesschaser Glad you liked it :)
@pythooonuser Hehehe thanks, glad you enjoyed the green pric mob :)
@Choppers Very nice you liked the look, Everything is hand drawn :) Im happy that you find the mechanic interesting
I was quite confused at first what I should do :D But in the end it's quite simple. And that charming programmer artwork :) Could do with some sounds and music as well. The game mechanics have potential for sure. Good job!
@assertfailure I hope it was fun to figure it out :) Hehehe that gud gud handdrawn stuff you know it. Sounds and music is a definite improvement that should be made. Thanks for the feedback ;)
The graphics were fun to look at and the 2 color mechanic was easy to understand.
However, I think the balancing needs some more work. The enemies take too long to kill from as soon as level 4, and sometimes the spiky enemy would appear right on top of me and send me back.
All in all, cool game!
@asdehielo If you got to level 4 surely you noticed the 3rd colour in the mechanic ;) Also yeah the increase in difficulty could be made variable to make it more fitting for everyone and the spawning issue I was aware of, did not have time to fix it unfortunately. Thanks for the feedback :)
I won't add something new to what have been said. I was confused with the goal of the game. I liked to combination of color for shooting specific ennemies !
Cool concept but it was really unclear, was there any way to kill the bush? as soon as I reduced its size it was too fast and killed me everytime, I also changed room by mistake by going close to the border quite often
@verygenuinecraze Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you liked it to some degree :)
@axeltherabbit The hint is in the description of the game, using LMB **and** RMB ;) >Its all in the eyes of the mobs
@phealsout yes I did it but it was just too fast and too small

I like the concept of your game, but sometimes it was not clear to me what to do, i haven't read the instructions on how to play on this page so at first i didn't know hoe to play the game, but i figured it out, the next thing is that I often went a stage a while running from the bush that got faster in was harder to it whenever it hit him, maybe let him shrink two or three times, after that it gets very difficult to hit him or to run from him anfd maybe make the top of a new stage a colider so you cannot go up again by mistake. Also I needed some time to realise, that you can hold down the shot buttons, before that i clicked very fast on my mouse and had problems aiming espesially for the bush. But after I got the hang of all that it was a pretty fun game.
It needed a better tutorial, it took me a while to figure out I had to walk to the bottom to progress and being pushed to the top would reset me back to the previous level. I really like some of the ideas, like the enemy which pushes you up, that is very unique. The 3 colour attacks were also cool. I got to level 5 I think before it got too frustrating, as enemies would immediately spawn very close to the middle and force me to re-do the previous level.
Overall pretty good though. Nice one!

The concept is really super good. The eye color made intuitive sense to me, the fact that you're going "deeper" by going down didn't, neither did the fact that the red-eyed enemies try to push you up. The enemies spawning on the player is sadly the death sentence for me, the game is already pretty challenging because of how big the ennemies are (might be a resolution issue seeing how other have scaling issues), struggling to get to 8/9 just to get instantly back to 2/9 because of it breaks any desire to keep on trying. Overall, this game is a big "if only there was one more day !" for me, I think I understand what you were trying to do and I find it super cool and interesting, but the end result has a few sharp corners that are a bit too sharp.
For a first LD, it's very impressive, very well done =).
@DerGamer Im glad you came, saw and conquered the difficulties :) The point of the bush is that you can make em infinitely hard to kill, such that you cannot make too many mistakes
@sam-bigos Yeah the progression and spawning are definitely areas of improvement, glad you like the game and thank you for the feedback :)
@masaru Thank you very much for the feedback. I agree with you that the concept of going deeper should have been emphasised in some way using a storyline. The enemies spawning on you is indeed a big bug, but I am unsure if I am allowed to fix that after having submitted it??? **o-o**. And congratulations on getting to 8/9, you are so far the person who has reached the greatest depth :). I definitely feel the if only there was one more day, because I somehow cant tell time, and thought it started one day later than it in reality did.
for the most part, i didn't understand what was going on.
the bush mobs are very difficult
@verysoftwares beware of the Eyes ;), theyre not as difficult as they first seem

the idea looks great but might be a little hard for me. Gotta have some time figure it out. The overall experience seems good for me!
Not sure what was happening, great idea but could definitely to with a tutorial
It took a while to understand how to play, but it was fun once I figured it out. A couple things really detracted from the fun though. One is the fact that touching the top of the screen takes you back a level which is much too easy to do accidentally. The other is that the green enemies are way too hard to deal with. Overall it was pretty solid for a first entry, I hope you continue to make games!
@Foursay Im glad you like the idea and the experience :)
@MiniBetrayal Noted, iterative introduction of features will definitely be in my next game :)
@bentglasstube I wonder was the figuring out how to do it not fun too? Like its a sort of aha moment right when you figure out the strategy? And yeah I found the accidental top touch as well, takes some fairly precise control, now that I think about it, it could be implemented such that you only go back if the Pillar guys, the one who spawn the blocks, push you up there. And on the green enemies, a difficulty system where the user can choose would be optimal I think. Thank you very much for the feedback, and ill definitely keep making games.

Took a while to figure out how to play! But I actually liked having to experiment and discover how to kill the mobs. Very interesting mechanics! A little frustrating at the beginning though until the mechanics are figured out. But I did like it enough to want to grind to the end!
@nyxkn Well im super glad to hear that :) And I think GGs are in order, cuz I think you are the first person to beat the game!!

Wow this game was very hard! I liked the different beam mechanics and I thought it was fun figuring out what they would do to each enemy. I did get very frustrated with getting trapped in corners by the "arrow keys" monster with the "plant" monsters chasing me and never made it past 5/9, but I guess this is the intended level of difficulty so I can't complain. The gameplay felt well done and when I would get sent back I actually wanted to keep going and try again!
@vknauss Im so glad you liked the mechanic and got some emotions thrown in the mix too ;) A difficulty setting, or even a dynamic difficulty could improve the game a lot I think. Thank you for the feedback

So when youre in a room I suggest locking it so you cant just walk out. I kept accidently leaving and resetting all my progress. Also the green blobs are way to hard to hit when they speed up. Other then that I think you have a good start to a game. I like the plus/minus mechanic for dispatching foes and that + grows the green blobs and minus shrinks them.
@cavedens The accidental leaving is definitely apparent, and as for the green blobs you dont have to make em shrink ;) And the + duplicates them, in a way, that is growing them

An interesting concept with the different weapon colors for different enemies, but a lot of the time, it just ended up being frustrating because I could get pretty far, then suddenly pushed up like 3 levels back to back and lose all my progress.
@jitspoe Yeah in the next game I make there is definitely gonna be a difficulty setting, cuz it really is not universal across all people. Im really glad you find the concept interesting though :) Thanks for the feedback

I really liked switching up the controls I use to attack. The game's instructions are unclear, but I did feel clever when I figured out 'purple' on my own. The scene transitions were confusing (felt like a bug). Fun concept though!
Agree with many of the comments above - biggest ones for me: Discovery of the purple laser took me way too long Falling back a level by going off the top is frustrating! Gets very hard very quickly - level 4 was as deep as I could get. Oh and the rar archive worked for me, but not the zip.
@Hydezeke Some sort of tutorial / hints system could have been great indeed, and static/dynamic difficulty changing as well. The transitions definitely could use way more polish. Glad you liked the concept, and thanks for the feedback :)
@james-macgill The .zip is for linux, so I guess you are running windows ;)
