This looks really interesting! However, the itch page doesn't exist, did you maybe forget to set it public?

mediyaz 2019-10-07 21:43

@evannex - Thanks for dropping by - erm yes I had it set to draft on itch.io 😅 it's all up and running now though so please check it out when you get a sec!

Cool idea. I like the clean and simple aesthetic.

Feature request: Wish I could make a second guess after seeing how close I got after the first guess.

takeshi64 2019-10-14 20:05

This game was pretty good! I liked the animations and art for it and these sorts of prediction games are always pretty interesting. I think to some degree getting a score above 90% relies on luck since for this one you can barely distinguish between the two colors and I only got a 94%. Green.png Then again that might be because difference in RBG values results in greater visual difference when the colors aren't on the super bright or dark ends of the spectrum. The sounds for moving the sliders was a pretty nice touch, though they can be slightly grating. Thanks for the game, I liked playing it!

zymphe 2019-10-14 20:39

Interesting idea! Fun to play around with.

lakrits 2019-10-14 20:44

Final average "84%", not too shabby. However I got three colors that barely contained anything except green, which makes it too easy. Should have had some prevention to get a challenge with below 100 in two sliders.

The percentage could have been the "Next" button, kept clicking it between challenges thinking it would show the next.

Really like the animated GIF logo, looks very nice. Seems to have higher quality in GIF form than inside the game itself.

tygrak 2019-10-14 20:44

I like the animation in the intro. The gameplay was pretty hard for me, especially because I am colorblind, but that isn't the games problem :D.

hermitao 2019-10-14 20:45

Love it!! Had a lot of fun, ended up scoring an average 81%.

cg-fred 2019-10-14 21:05

That was a very different game and the gamedev in me loved it. Got a 92% match as best and I'm totally happy with that :)

kleinzach 2019-10-16 22:09

84% is my best. I got a few very similar colors, which makes me wonder if it would be best to generate a sort of random color palette each time with very different colors. You could ensure that Hue saturation and value are never too close to each other to mix it up a bit more. This makes for a fun challenge. Good job!

shubart 2019-10-16 22:15

Unique game. Thank you for that

sylvie 2019-10-16 22:19

I really like the sounds that the sliders make.

brokenmirrormedia 2019-10-19 05:48

This is a really awesome game! I love this kind of stuff, and it is executed quite well here. I am not sure exactly how the scores are calculated at the end of each round but I could see this being a tool to help someone new to hex colour systems learn to guess values by eye. Also, absolutely love the logo!

swanijam 2019-10-22 03:31

84! **i could have sworn than yellow was blue and green**

amazing touch with the slider noises !!

I'm impressed with how captivating such an ultra-simple concept and implentation is. Very well finessed :D

catusfelony 2019-10-23 22:41

I really liked this! It reminds me of this game called WhatTheHex but in here you don't have a list of colors to pick from and need to really test your RGB skills!! I got an 86% average. Initially I didn't notice the sliders defaulted to 127, i thought the middle point was 0 for some reason, so my first four guesses were way lighter than the color asked, but that was just me being absent minded. :cat:

Nice and simple controls, the sound effects are well suited to the game. I see how you started working from the theme, but the end result is pretty detached from it. Great logo and animation. Well done.

untitled-studios 2019-10-24 02:00

Nice! And weird. Very, very polished, and fun!

occultone 2019-10-24 02:25

Very polished, I loved the thought put into the sound and consistency of the visual design. Really interesting way to test my knowledge of color combinations. Great job!

acronaut 2019-10-24 04:05

- I've noticed that your game had sound and jingles when run on Chrome. No sound for Firefox. - Quirky slider effect as if I'm playing a Warioware mini-game :smile_cat: - I'm still trying to wrap my brain on how you are calculating the accuracy score of the swatch? (some swatches even to deliberately mismatch; a desaturated grey vs a bright brilliant color) would somehow average to 70's, lowest score would somehow be no less than 23 (perform a complementary including its brightness and saturation equivalent than intended)

Suggestions: - More variations on the color matching game: brightness-based, saturation, complementary. - try to incorporate large scale symbols (or segmented recursive rings) where certain spots will eventually disappear based on a foveated (focused) blind-spot.. and attempt to match the swatch.. - Match based from original swatch vs. after-effect swatch.. - This seems good for doing a A/B testing between multiple-monitor setup where color profiles are not necessarily synced up as they should. (try to incorporate a pseudo random but with the seed number for users to retry a series of swatches based on that seed-collection) - A local-multiplayer? 2,4,8-split screen..

neat entry! :dizzy:

Came here after reading your post-mortem, and I got to say, this might be one of the most unique games I've seen this jam. Most of my critiques you seem to already know, so I won't go over them. The only thing I can add is that I think the title screen might be revamped to allow players to mess with the sliders and make colours before the quiz starts. It would both be fun to the player and would show them hues are made up of which RGB components.

mattias-cibien 2019-10-24 05:46

Very nice idea. Simple and effective.

ddrkirbyisq 2019-10-24 05:47

89% average, woo!

This was....surprisingly fun for what it is.

Please make an HSV version :) I never work in RGB these days!

geckoo1337 2019-10-24 09:01

Nice puzzle game with an unusual gameplay ++

purrseus 2019-10-24 09:05

This game is really, really good! And even works on my mobile phone! I am truly impressed, never saw anything like it. It's amazing how you even incorporated sound into the concept!

crazyrems 2019-10-24 09:52

It was really catching even with my slight colorblind condition. Ended with 86%. I love that kind of games.

hybitous 2019-10-24 18:55

Nice idea. Very fun to play against friends and compare scores.

selkkie 2019-10-25 16:14

This was a very simple idea with a flawless execution, nice work! (The slider noises also made me giggle)
