| Jan 9 21:02:34 | Branch Out | ♥ 0 | Fun game. Was surprised that the root going into the water kills you — found that confusing when the goal is to fetch water. Cool concept! | |
| Jan 9 21:11:21 | 8m 47s | The Night Harvest | ♥ 1 | Fun and a nice idea! Those water balloons go off too frequently though. :') |
| Jan 9 21:34:34 | 23m 13s | No Harvest | ♥ 4 | Lovely, polished game. I liked the concept a lot too. Didn't find the fireball useful at all though? Reached day 34 :) |
| Jan 9 21:54:14 | 19m 40s | Harvest Hell | ♥ 2 | High score 60 on my second go, after downing two of those melon-cacti. Absolutely hilarious and indeed the music especially makes it. I appreciated the detail in how you have a designated spot to put the shotgun down again. That adds to the challenge, since you can't harvest melons immediately after shooting a melon-cactus down. |
| Jan 11 01:08:12 | 27h 13m | Poppy Defense | ♥ 2 | Really well polished and fun. Well done! Would love to download a non-web / Linux copy; is that something you have around or would consider making available? |
| Jan 12 09:46:27 | 32h 38m | Horticulture | ♥ 1 | Nifty game, but crikey I keep getting lost in all the papers! I'm too slow for this game :D. And that moment of regret when you cut an entire plant that you just planted instead of a leaf on the plant next to it... Surprisingly fun :). I found out that I didn't know what 'stem' meant, I thought it was only the middle part of the plant and so I wasted most of my first Blorg... |
| Jan 12 10:00:23 | 13m 56s | Inter-dimensional Asteroid Harvester | ♥ 1 | Afraid the HTML5 impl is painfully slow to react to input and I can't run the EXE version here. Won't rate since I don't think it's fair to. |
| Jan 12 19:29:04 | 9h 28m | Radiance | ♥ 1 | The graphics are really good, but the gameplay just isn't there for me I'm afraid; like a glorified yet simplified cookie clicker. |
| Jan 12 19:40:10 | 11m 06s | Endless Harvest | ♥ 0 | Definitely a good start and a good idea, but it felt like most of the effect cards were never worth playing, because they cost a lot compared to the plant. |
| Jan 12 19:52:52 | 12m 42s | Iris's Scrappy Rumble | ♥ 1 | Fun, polished and good music and art. However agreed with some other commenters that it's hard to be strategic about the material pickups (and especially in my case I didn't even know what I should have been aiming to pick up). As a note, I had to change keyboard layout otherwise WASD was in the wrong place (I was using the web version if that's related). I haven't had to do that for other games, so I wonder if the input mapping is a bit 'off'. Well done! |
| Jan 12 20:06:56 | 14m 04s | Noxious Harvest | ♥ 1 | Lovely modelling and animations. Basic gameplay but fun nonetheless. Thanks! |
| Jan 12 20:17:25 | 10m 29s | Maize - Harvest Edition LD52 | ♥ 1 | Great idea and good art, but the inputs are also laggy/buggy/teleporty for me |
| Jan 12 20:27:36 | 10m 11s | Harvester Madness | ♥ 1 | Really fun. Probably a good thing the fireworks hit at the end of the game otherwise I'm not sure how long I would have been playing. At the start I wasn't sure whether it was better to aim up or to bounce side to side (because it seems like you avoid the rocks that way). The upgrade system is rather satisfying as well. A few sound effects would have really topped it off, though! Well done. |
| Jan 12 20:32:14 | 4m 38s | Vegetableau | ♥ 1 | Swish game and especially lovely vibrant illustrations for the fruit and veg. Thanks! |
| Jan 12 20:36:50 | 4m 36s | Crop Rotation | ♥ 1 | I found it confusing that the game 'plays itself' other than the card discard, but interesting and nicely presented. Agreed that a better explanation would probably have been helpful. Thanks for the game! |
| Jan 12 20:47:01 | 10m 11s | Reap 'n' Roll | ♥ 1 | Found it hard to understand what spells were useful; text maybe a bit dense for reading whilst under attack :-). Good concept though and I think it indeed has a lot of promise if you wanted to take it further. As a note, I had to change keyboard layout to play. The game should be looking at physical keycodes rather than the actual letter on the key — other HTML5 games are largely doing this fine; might be worth looking into for the next one :). |
| Jan 13 09:59:34 | 13h 12m | Revengetables | ♥ 1 | I'm not usually one for voiceovers but the voiceovers here were hilarious. Shame about the UI bugs on web though! Impressive to pull this off in the compo though, I'd say :) |
| Jan 13 23:31:02 | 13h 31m | Jack the Reaper | ♥ 1 | Agreed that it was a bit too easy — I mostly ran around in circles and it seems like that makes the score grow really fast? BTW the keyboard mapping isn't 'correct' in that it doesn't use the physical location of WASD but rather relies on WASD being in the same place in the player's keyboard layout, so I had to change my layout for this game. This is not too uncommon here but some game do it right as well. |
| Jan 13 23:37:53 | 6m 51s | Heroes, Please | ♥ 1 | A bit basic but understandable and it sounds like you're already aware. A pity there wasn't more time! :) |
| Jan 13 23:41:06 | 3m 13s | H.A.R. VEST | ♥ 3 | Afraid I got stuck here: Screenshot_20230113_233948.png I can't jump up either left or right side and I don't seem to be able to walk towards or further away from the camera. Unfortunate. |
| Jan 13 23:47:04 | 5m 58s | Harvest Swarm | ♥ 1 | The art is really nice — good example of 'less is more' with the 2 bpp palette, but sadly there isn't much else to the game. |
| Jan 14 00:14:51 | 27m 47s | Carvester | ♥ 3 | Nice music and funny concept. The controls are fiddly but in an interesting way. |
| Jan 14 00:22:55 | 8m 04s | Vegan Vince | ♥ 0 | Fun! Fitting music! Some good attention to detail here — notably the way the sliced vegetables stack up and change the terrain. |
| Jan 14 18:54:24 | 18h 31m | Mermaid Treasure Quest | ♥ 1 | A little bit basic, but well done for getting it over the line |
| Jan 14 19:05:51 | 11m 27s | CrapCirclz | ♥ 1 | I got 0% on the first level. :/ Possibly just me being inept, but seems too difficult! |
| Jan 14 19:24:39 | 18m 48s | Agricultural Ascension | ♥ 2 | Really polished, well done! |
| Jan 14 19:47:29 | 22m 50s | Harvest Village | ♥ 1 | Funky music, but sounds incoherent because it doesn't loop and it's quite a short piece. Personally I found that the rules are a bit confusing; it took a long time to get it and I'm not sure I fully get it now (?). Lack of a cover photo is probably a major letdown for the game though, if you want people to be interested in trying it out :-) |
| Jan 14 20:04:50 | 17m 21s | Farm Island | ♥ 0 | It would be handy to document the controls, I can't figure out how to get going — spacebar seems to accelerate but I can't steer reliably! Screenshot_20230114_200300.png But I can still see the cool effects on the ground at least :-). Looks like quite some effort has gone in. |
| Jan 14 20:15:58 | 11m 08s | Harvest Moon | ♥ 1 | The embed in the LDJAM page isn't loading for me and the itch.io page is a 404! (for the latter, just a guess but do you have to 'publish' it or something first?) |
| Jan 14 20:35:24 | 19m 26s | Mushroom Miner | ♥ 1 | I struggled to figure out what I was meant to do with the fertiliser. In the end it felt like I was supposed to press Z on those 2 tall mushrooms(?) near the entrance and then run to a small mushroom, at which point it turns into a miner, but I couldn't get it to reliably work and so I'm not sure I had the right end of the stick. I think what would have helped, knowing that adding an interactive tutorial is too hard to do for a jam, would be to throw together an annotated picture with the sprites you've used and what keys I'm meant to press on them. A rough and ready illustration like that would probably only take ten minutes but would really help unsuspecting players. This is something I wish I had thought of doing for my game as well — it's hard to predict what people will have trouble knowing what to do and yet the time to add an interactive tutorial doesn't come when you are busy making the game itself good! Once I half-figured it out, it was fun. Could have used a few more levels but that may just be the nature of gamejams :D. Thanks for the game! |
