What a fun play! Great visuals and music all around, very cohesive and enjoyable.
Only a couple small things—I didn't notice much feedback when I crashed into asteroids, so I thought it was safe (yes, despite familiarity with the original... maybe I'm just dumb haha). A little more knockback, a particle spray, or a more pronounced sound effect would probably clarify this just fine, since I didn't even notice my "shield" text (maybe better represented a a bar?) until it was down to 20/100.
That's all first-playthrough stuff, as I knew what to watch for after that, but it's what came to mind to comment on.
Thanks for sharing, and happy developing!

I too am extremely tired! The html5 version seems to bog down furiously making CORS requests to https://files.jam.host/embed/$316043/9073/html5game/prefs.ini - The Ludum Dare internal embed seems pretty experimental at this stage and I skipped it because it won't allow LocalStorage which I need. Have you tried using itch.io? I'm having a really smooth experience there.
I'll try and circle back with a review as soon as I can get it running.
Yeah, I 100% agree on Asteroid crashing feedback, @spiritbeard I had spent a bit of time trying to make it more obvious at one point, with the asteroids having some knockback, but wasn't able to implement it in time. Theres a few other things missing proper sound effects too, that I didnt notice until the last second and couldn't fix.

HTML5 version is laggy and not playable. Nice GFX.
@rockford Yeah, I removed the HTML5 version from here as it was unplayable and would crash. A functional one has been uploaded to itch.io @falkreon Thanks for letting me know. I forgot how often I had it read from the ini file. Took your suggestion and moved it to itch.io. Had to make some mild adjustments, as a couple lines weren't HTML5 friendly, and there was a error that should have caused the windows version to crash, or at least give me a warning but didn't, which completely crashed the HTML5 version.
Game was a lot of fun! My only suggestions would be to tie more into the theme (have something you actually harvest from the astroids that you take somewhere) and to look at the difficulty more. Things like the larger rocks causing you to die when colliding with them fast, or rocks flinging further when you smash into them etc.
Overall great work!

Really fun game! Hard at first but you get used to the controls quick. The sound and graphics give it a really nice feel, I agree with the previous criticism about the asteroid collision feedback. Also I noticed that once an asteroid collides with you, further collisions will trigger the "hurt" animation, but they wont subtract anything from your shield (this happens in the Itch HTML version).
A nice little Asteroid game! Cohesive feel and a good amount of visual polish; would blend perfectly in a modern arcade cabinet.
@streq Yeah, there's a bug where only the first collision with a specific asteroid does damage. It was the unfortunate temporary solution to fixing a crash where if you hit the same asteroid too many times the game would just crash, and didnt have time to fix it. @xaviarrob123 Yeah, I wanted to have it where the faster the collision the more damage/slower the less damage, but ran out of time and didnt quite have the knowledge to implement it quickly.
Nice version of a classic game. I experience some slow down on the HTML5 version playing in Chrome. It happened a couple times, but was still playable. I also heard a weird "tinging sound" that seemed to just come out of no where.
I didn't feel the theme very much in this game, but the visuals are great and the sound design was well suited. Great work! I hope you're feeling better!
Thank you. Yeah, the collisions with the minerals and the edge of the screen gets stuck a lot, and each bounce makes a ting, and on occasion that occurs off-screen due to jank. There was originally going to be a shop which leaned a bit more into the harvest theme, but was cut due to time restraints.

itch embed works - really laggy, lots of control latency, but I get the idea of what you're going for now. Time is cruel to all of us. I've been there.
PLEASE NOTE: * Bugfixes are allowed after the deadline. You can't add new features but if you released and then realized something's not working, I'd encourage people to rate the fixed version. Just be clear about what you added/changed. * Ports (Especially ports to web) are allowed after the deadline. In this case the download is a much better experience, but don't feel obligated to disqualify yourself for getting the web version working after the fact.
Thanks for letting me play!
@falkreon Yeah, Ill need to do some optimization then. Thanks. I wasnt sure on the rules of that, as it's not very clear.

Nice little Asteroid like. I think i would have oversized the terrain before looping, this would have prevent an object from being visible on the two side of the screen a the same time. Don't know why but it looked weird to me. The control are a bit stiff but i had fun !

There is a bug. When I enter the game and press the start button and see fps only 3. What's going on?

the game is quite fun to play, and can get quite challenging too but that's mostly due to the lag of the html5 build causing the ship to rotate slower (I think?), but it seems like quite a good game if the lag was fixed in html5 and can be easily expanded on to provide a full game, so good job

I felt like I had to play this game since there were many similarities with my own submission (mining asteroids, space pirates, warping into new sectors, etc.) :joy:
A fun arcade game in the spirit of Asteroids. It's really satisfying to destroy the asteroids and watch them blow up into smaller pieces, and then collect the goods within. The game as a whole felt like it had an amount of challenge appropriate to an arcade game, the pirates especially felt fun and interesting when I realized they were aiming for the side of the screen to shoot me and I could aim at the side of the screen to shoot them.
I'd say the first thing missing from this game is a sound effect that plays when you take damage. At first I thought asteroids couldn't hurt me. I would have also liked to see more drops from destroying asteroids to better fit the theme—plus it would just be so satisfying.
Fun game all around, the screen wrap was fun to play with. I hope to see you in LD 53!
@celtican Yeah, I completely agree on the more minerals from the asteroids. I had other asteroid types and mineral types, but ran out of time. And the reason it doesnt have a sound effect on damage is because I removed it as I realised I was still using my placeholder audio in the last 30 minutes of the Jam for that sound, and didnt have time to give it a proper replacement. Post-Jam thats probably the #1 priority fix, as everyone's complaining about it and for good reason.
@enducube @bowen Try it now, I just uploaded version e2, onto itch, which should have some optimizations. Though it does come at the cost of the asteroid hitboxes being a bit jank. FPS is improved on my desktop to the point of having very few issues, but is still utterly terrible on my laptop (which I admittedly hadn't thought of checking until today), and I am not familiar enough with GMS2's HTML5 implementations to fix this further, unfortunately. Ill put a warning tag on the HTML5 version.
Afraid the HTML5 impl is painfully slow to react to input and I can't run the EXE version here. Won't rate since I don't think it's fair to.
Very neat little game! The graphics were perfect and it was the right size for a jam. I think you picked your scope and capabilities perfectly. Good job!
This is great! the last time I looked a level before I died my score was 3563 but I think I could do better than that. I loved the graphics how the asteroids seamlessly mirrored from one side of the playfield to the other. and the bullets and ship did too. I like that. And I like how the pickups didn't. That made it even more interesting.
FYI my joystick worked perfectly right out of the box with no configuration although I didn't test the bomb button.
Nice one, would definately love to play it with some physics tweaks, the aceleration seems strange at first, it kinda pushes you forward strong and then you coast at max speed
@juanrod707 That's a good point actually. I hadn't realised I messed up the physics there. I'll have to fix that post-jam.
Funny game, good luck to win!
i like the topography of this game! also graphics have this kind of grain i like too! acceleration of the ship was too fast for me, and i ended only pivoting while staying in the center of the map.
nice game, had fun playing it!
What a classic! Great execution on the game. I feel similarly to others in that the acceleration could have used some tweaking to be a little more tame, I found myself pressing C a lot to control my inertia.
