Great use of the theme! I had a lot fun :) I love it when the music changes, it puts me in the mood for a good shotgun fight!

Can you actually kill the monster? Otherwise great use of the musical tone switching, I laughed out loud the first time it happened. Great entry!

jeffsobel 2023-01-09 08:24

@zonoxx Yeah, the monster takes 15 shots to kill. In retrospect I don't know why I made it take so many hits lol.

Thanks for your review!

Are you trying to tell me I can't harvest melons with shotgun?! Hilarious game, love the change of music when the evil melon attacks me. Fun little game.

This game really shows how important music is, it's crazy how much of an impact it has on the mood when one of those suckers comes to life. Did you make the music and art? I really liked it!

Yikes those melons were hard to kill

Very cool unexpected avoidance game mechanic, I enjoyed it.

Good work getting that done in under a day.

High score 60 on my second go, after downing two of those melon-cacti. Absolutely hilarious and indeed the music especially makes it.

I appreciated the detail in how you have a designated spot to put the shotgun down again. That adds to the challenge, since you can't harvest melons immediately after shooting a melon-cactus down.

I like games like touhou ! Dodging is really funny. Maybe had more paterns so it won't be easier to dodge Also the melon was long to kill - even when i was spamming it

the monster has a lot of health! really like the balancing aspect of going back and forth between fighting and harvesting. i also like the little touch that picking up watermelons plays notes in the key of the song (really nice audio design)

fluburbio 2023-01-10 20:11

I've found a creative way to kill the watermelon: My girlfriend manages the mouse while i'm focusing on dodging with the arrow keys. It's almost a shame they don't give points! I enjoyed going back to your game as I was showing my favorites games to her :D

So chill, till its not! Was really funny when the melon came alive

Good musical tone change, responsive controls. The background texture is a little strangely busy compared to the game sprites. No progression mechanic was a little disappointing. Boy you have to work fast to prevent those melons from getting uppity! Maybe they should flash a couple times before rebelling.

The change in atmosphere when the melon gets up is great! And then after you kill it going back to harvest more melons with a smile on your face is very funny. I felt like I got to a place where I could play indefinitely, and found myself wishing that the game had a bit more progression. Maybe the melon boss could get strong each time or send out more challenging bullet patterns? I still enjoyed playing though and getting a good melon harvest!

took me by surprise. Good Job

Really good mix of peaceful farming sim and stressful bullet hell

It was fun to play, but I never managed to kill a melon, assuming it's possible. I also enjoyed the sound design.

amarokczukay 2023-01-15 13:49

this was fun to play! i like the change of gameplay induced by your mechanics.

the monster is a bit long to kill, and in my opinion it's quite hard to see at the same time where to shoot and where to move.

i LOVED the audio during the harvesting mode, the sound when you catch a melon goes so well with the music, really everytime i killed a monster, i was so happy to hear that tune back!
