Apr 26 17:29:29 Dice Explorer ♥ 2 Heh, I clicked "How to Play", and then tried playing, and was very confused... kept trying to click on tiles I just placed and they disappear! Apparently there's an (almost hidden) next button in the how to play! Maybe make that a little brighter? That was fun! Definitely felt very much at the whims of the randomness though, had an enemy I couldn't beat, lost most of my health, and spent most of the rest of the time making circuitous routes so that I don't even touch enemies... maybe it would feel better to know how much defense an enemy has before fighting it, as, otherwise, I just completely avoid all of them, or just keep re-rolling until I have an incredible roll, and then fight, and it turns out they only had a tiny amount and I wasted my time ^_^. The WebGL version (in both regular view and fullscreen on my 16:10 monitor) appears to get the sides of the screen cut off - maybe just need to update the HTML of the output to be a 16:9 resolution if that is the only aspect ratio your game supports? (Note: bug fixes like that ARE allowed after submitting). When placing a die, it would be really nice/natural to be able to rotate the die with mousewheel instead of R.
Apr 26 18:56:42 1h 27m Push Stack ♥ 2 I spent a while trying to read the description here, being pretty confused, but the in-game tutorial seems pretty great, it might be less confusing to get started if your description here were just shorter! I will admit I came back to review the first image in your description here a couple times, though. Great game, really cool, fresh idea! I also got stuck on level 7 for a while until I accidentally discovered the new mechanic, maybe that could have been telegraphed a little better (maybe a level where the player can't possible reach the stairs without the stack getting in the way). I've made it through the first 12 levels now, will have to come back later and do some more!
Apr 27 00:17:03 5h 20m Magic Frontier ♥ 2 That was fun! I like the style, and the puzzles made me feel clever. I was expecting a strategy or sim game, but was pleasantly surprised by a puzzle game =). I once managed to place a tower and immediately be unable to destroy the tower (it overlapped an earlier village), which was weird, but after destroying the village in question, I was able to also destroy the tower, so it wasn't a game-breaker.
Apr 27 00:28:31 11m 28s Into The Depths ♥ 0 The game exiting whenever I press escape is a game-breaker for me, I keep pressing Escape to dismiss menus - and they do go away! And then a second later the whole game goes away -_-
Apr 27 13:41:15 13h 12m Dig Deeper ♥ 1 Not bad for 5 hours! The crash sound is especially good. I would have liked to see a little farther so I could plan a little bit instead of simply reacting to the next row of rocks as it becomes visible.
Apr 27 14:58:28 1h 17m Pale Dwarf Adventures ♥ 1 Minor bug, when falling long distances =) Capture.PNG And that's as far as I go! Capture2.PNG I enjoyed that! Though fairly unoriginal, it's exactly the kind of game I wanted to play when I saw the Deeper and Deeper theme ^_^. Jumping mechanics were a little rough, going up 2 and over one through a small hole was always hard, but eventually I learned to just make smoother slopes to climb... having to climb all the way back up after mining my first obsidian was a *chore* though... I think the levels would have been more interesting with some empty spaces, making it harder to make a good path, however my OCD compelled me to remove 100% of all ores (well, the first 3, anyway...), so I added that challenge myself, though had way too much money in the end ^_^. Music was nice!
Apr 27 17:25:18 2h 26m Dwarf Bros ♥ 1 Neat idea! Don't think I've ever worked with a stupid brother quite like Luizi before, which made for an interesting game idea. I got to 34 gems on floor 13 before it got too repetitive for me ^_^. Occasionally, it made me feel *really* clever with getting myself in just the right location to get Luizi to do what I wanted, but usually he kinda went off and did his own thing and I wasn't quite sure what he was going to do, I think I never completely understood his rules - when he'd fall more than one space down or when he might turn around while falling and suddenly mine back in the other direction... Graphics and audio were also pretty good!
Apr 27 23:52:29 6h 27m Slimecats Do ♥ 0 Congrats on getting *something* built in the weekend! It seems there's an off-by-one error with `done` - your screenshot you said "done 7" and it crossed off number 8 =) Love the meow!
Apr 28 00:46:55 54m 26s Holey Moley ♥ 0 Hi, Judy's friend Jimb here ^_^. Holey moley that's a fun game! I *love* the fact that the first row in each new area is completely solid - it gives me a great strategic break to make sure I clear out everything above it, using that as a path to get back to my main rope. Though overall this game follows a pretty standard formula, the super-limited carrying space of a tiny number of discrete gems feels really good here, and makes it feel a little different. I had a lot of difficulty with accidentally mining something that I didn't want to mine... lost a couple games that way as I turned around to do a jump, and found myself digging into the one platform that would get out of there -_-. Being able to cancel (let go of the button mid-dig) would be a lifesaver, I think. Music is pretty great too, what was it made in? I win! I went home with $2680 and 1 pretty gem. HoleyMoley.PNG
Apr 28 01:03:38 16m 43s Pink Space ♥ 2 I enjoy your interpretation of the theme =).
Apr 28 01:34:20 30m 42s DMG-001 ♥ 0 Oh, I am *terrible* at this kind of game, but I seem to be getting the goombas.. and.. OMG why am I playing Pacman?! Phew. Finally beat it. That was cool! A little sound would have helped a lot!
Apr 28 01:41:24 7m 04s Mine of Mine (web) ♥ 1 I quite like the visuals, especially above ground! The music and sound is good too. Would have been nice to have something to do with the gold I got, but it was nice and chill getting it.
Apr 28 01:45:41 4m 17s Deepr Diver ♥ 0 My high score: 50.8. Aww, just barely not quite as far as the post before me! I do love a little bit of score competition =). Great idea and great execution. Interesting controls that took a bit to get used to, but then I found my rhythm and it was fun. Visuals are simple, but nice!
Apr 28 14:02:53 12h 17m Ants Are Awesome ♥ 0 This game is AAA! Definitely ambitious, but it's a nice little simulation, it is fun to watch the ants run around. I played a few times, and thought I was going to win my third game but apparently they opened a secret passage right to my queen and killed her rather quickly... their queen died seconds after the "defeat" screen showed up, so at least we both got wiped out... I would have liked a little more to do (maybe set rally points for the warriors?), and being able to drag-place the dig order would have helped a lot, I think.
Apr 29 16:41:52 26h 38m Dwarf Deep ♥ 1 Visuals and sounds are quite nice! I found the player movement very buggy, I sometimes could not get out of the water onto my ship, would start climbing the later and then slowly sink back down, like it was stuck blending falling/jumping with climbing or something. I couldn't find enough resources to buy almost anything - could see some spawning in the water and dropping down to the bottom, but the bottom was deep enough that I could not get down to the bottom and pick something up and get back up before running out of air, so in areas without air bubbles I'd just die, and then leave everything I'd ever picked up in an area I couldn't get back to :(. It seemed drilling wasn't even an option at the beginning, if I dove down, drilled one block, and swam back up, I'd usually be taking damage. Some way to save progress, like dropping off the ore I'd found so far, would have been nice and given me a path towards possibly progressing. I saw a comment here about making air pockets, and tried again, definitely got farther, and got a tier of each upgrade, but I couldn't notice any difference after the upgrade (I guess, too small to be easily noticed), and still had difficulty staying alive long enough to get to the bottom and into an air pocket :(. Was much more enjoyable when I could make a safe place underwater, though!
Apr 29 20:02:38 3h 20m Rock Monster ♥ 0 Pretty great! My first game I got very unlucky, no energy anywhere, had to restart. My second game I made it all the way to the wonderful ending, and had a lot of fun, although almost died a couple times. Never *quite* figured out what the white gems did, other than increase a number on the screen, and almost certainly related to the unplanned comboing that happened, but wasn't quite sure how that worked. Visuals were great, sound wasn't bad. I'd have liked a little more consistent difficulty curve - I almost stopped around depth 700 when I had been doing the same thing over and over for quite a while and figured I'd seen all there was to see in the game, though I could imagine if one got lucky with combos they would blow right past that area, and it was still surprisingly well balanced and fun for a jam game =).
Apr 29 23:38:15 3h 35m BREAKIN! ♥ 2 My high score: 7580. That was pretty cool! Familiar mechanics, but a fresh combination of them, to me at least. Just a couple sound effects would have gone a long way, I think! Extra bonus points for being a web game that doesn't spend 2 minutes loading the Unity runtime first! =)
Apr 30 00:02:25 24m 10s Unsoiled ♥ 1 Pretty great game! Reminds me a lot of Turmoil, but more arcade-y =). The upgrades felt too incremental / small priced - I never ended a run thinking "if I'd done a little better I could have gotten *that*" but instead was like "well, I guess I get 6 of these 7 of those", so didn't feel very connected to the progress. I love that when the oil gets super dense it's rather hard to notice a little rock in the middle of a bunch of oil patches, though it does get a bit extreme later. The oil was a little too opaque to always see the rocks though, would have been nice if there was a bit more of a chance to see the rocks if you're observant when it's super dense. Some pattern-recognition mini-game where rocks are always triangles and oil always 4+-gons would maybe be cool... The controls felt backwards to me - I *always* pressed the wrong direction whenever I started trying to turn after not doing anything for a while, guess I'm used to snake games with relative controls ^_^. Hit a minor bug where I passed through a (0-width?) oil or stone. I demand my $0 it would have been worth! unsoiled.png Sound was nice until it stopped working ^_^. I won after 8 days, felt like just the right amount of time playing. Admittedly my first day was great ($30K or something), and my second day was terrible ($1200).
Apr 30 01:30:25 1h 28m EARTHWYRM ♥ 1 Great game, managed to beat all of the levels, but some were tricky! I thought 16 was going to be tricky, but then it took only a bait and 2 dirt... ^_^ The mechanics got surprisingly deep, from a simple set of actions. I didn't realize at first that you could modify the board after unpausing, and I'm not sure what I think about that, as it feels slightly too action-y and less puzzle-y, but it was used little enough that it didn't detract from the awesome whole ^_^. I would have liked some kind of undo, as I often placed something in the wrong spot and immediately wanted to undo, but then had to reset and re-build my whole setup. Visuals and sound were also good, well done!
Apr 30 13:37:47 12h 07m Into the Deep Web ♥ 1 That's pretty cool, I quite enjoyed it. Combat moved a little fast at the beginning, was hard to tell what was going on, and I guess I forgot that I could pause =). Visuals where great and the feel were spot-on.
Apr 30 13:48:35 10m 48s Bomb Miner! ♥ 1 I found I was often quickly stuck with nothing to do but guess, which makes for a pretty unsatisfying ending - changing things up a bit to give you more information or a number of wrong moves would maybe help a lot. Nice to see another game that pulls in some Minesweeper mechanics =). Visuals were nice and simple, but have some style, I like it!
Apr 30 15:27:33 1h 38m To The Planet Core ♥ 1 Pretty neat! I made it to the bottom. I liked the balance of where to put things so I could still drill, mine, and not break apart. I think being unable to break the existing objects is cool. I would have liked some hotkeys or easier way to select tools (and see which one I had selected), I sometimes got confused ^_^. Really fun when the mine range gets huge, even though I know I didn't really need the ores at that point =).
May 2 13:56:47 46h 29m Diggy Bungus ♥ 1 Lost my first two games because I couldn't figure out how to get out of the shop before I starved to death :(. Starts really brutal, but quickly gets fun, I enjoyed it! My guy is *way* more agile at digging than I expected, didn't even realize I could dig sideways, let alone up, for quite a while. Animations for all the different digs were pretty great! And, uh, my time was 15:26.
May 2 14:01:19 4m 32s Survive in the deep ♥ 2 That was neat! After a couple tries, I won! Really good atmosphere making me feel scared of what's in the dark, though a little sound would have probably gone a long way there.
May 2 14:20:11 18m 52s Drilling With Dice ♥ 0 Interesting idea! I like dice games, but there appear to be almost no interesting choices to make here, it's just painfully drag any pairs over, then reroll, and repeat. Only actual choice is what threshold at which to keep on the first roll of processing (spoiler: it's 4). I had to give up when my drill bit broke for the 5th day in a row -\_-. I think if it were slightly easier to slot dice (shift-click or double click the dice), maybe I would have kept playing a bit more anyway ^\_^. I would have liked a little more interesting choices in the gameplay - maybe something with some strategy - some Yahtzee-like mechanics of deciding if I'm going to try to get pairs or triples or straights or something, or some push-your-luck mechanics where I can take a risk for a bigger payout - like rerolling again on the Processing phase, but it costs a die and slots a "multiplied by 0.5" die or something that reduces the final result. Graphics were functional and fine, and the music was nice!
May 2 14:34:12 14m 01s Implosion ♥ 2 I encountered a minor couple bugs - for some reason I couldn't click on the bottom 1.5 rows if I was in full-screen (maybe something incorrectly assuming a 16:9 aspect ratio or something?), but it worked if I changed it back to the tiny embedded view. Audio snapped a lot when switching layers, the audio tracks must not have been quite in sync or something - just adding 100ms of fading or so when switching would have helped that be a lot less jarring, I think, but I really like what was done with the audio tracks getting deeper as you go! Really neat puzzle design, great idea, and good execution, well done!
May 3 15:18:35 24h 44m Drowning in debts ♥ 1 That's pretty great! Despite the cheery music, ascending from deep depths through shark infested waters with 1 health is *utterly terrifying*. I got all of the upgrades, but, unfortunately, was unable to reach the bottom of the ocean, as an angler fish managed to pin me to a rock and neither he nor I could move :(. Capture.PNG I loved the music and visuals, animations on the fish felt great. Had a little difficulty getting the controller to work on the web build, seems like the game is specifically hardcoding looking at controller "index 0" instead of looking for the first attached controller (which was at "index 1" in my case - swapping things between USB ports a few times seemed to get it into the index your game was looking for, though).
May 4 13:43:58 22h 25m Deep Dive ♥ 1 Neat mechanic! I had difficulty with the difficulty and the controls, especially jumping when I didn't want to when finishing another jump (in a lot of games you need to release jump at least once before it'll jump again) - I was unable to get past the "alternating traps" level, kept either not jumping far enough or immediately jumping after I'd landed safely :(. Visuals were nice, and it was clear what I had to figure out to solve each of the levels I played.
May 4 14:00:44 16m 46s Let's Go Deeper ♥ 1 Very polished, and fun! I love the chill atmosphere. My embarrassing score: 4500.
May 4 14:11:54 11m 10s Lunar Laundry ♥ 1 I made it (on my second try)! My score: 66%. Controls were hard to understand at first, and my brain just didn't get that the mouse was not controlling my direction at all - seems like maybe the entire game could have just been steering with the mouse, with no keyboard controls, and it woulda been a little more intuitive. Not bad after I got the hang of it though, and I enjoyed my slide to the moon.
May 4 14:31:45 19m 51s Deep in mars ♥ 1 My first game "ended" when I ran out of people, despite plenty of deep-underground habitation for them, and only had 450 money left so couldn't ship in new ones :( - I noticed later, looking at your change notes, that I could probably have just shipped in 2 people for cheaper, but didn't realize that at the time. My second base started with building my own safe little home deep under ground, and did much better! Eventually had 10s of thousands of dollars and got bored before the asteroids destroyed my base ^_^. I liked the atmosphere and relatively chill gameplay, despite the impending doom . It would have been nice the residents moved to empty rooms if their homes were destroyed, would have prevented the unexpected termination of my first game.
May 5 13:48:58 23h 17m Subterplane ♥ 1 Really challenging, but fun! Simple, but nicely polished. Having the smoking ruins of my previous attempts to fly past was a nice touch.
May 6 13:48:25 23h 59m The Colorsmith ♥ 1 Pretty great! Interesting mechanics, and beautifully executed. Quite a few times I felt like I didn't have to figure anything out (just head to the nearest blinky thing I hadn't touched), but it got interesting whenever there was a choice and I had to figure out which way to go (and, even, once, needed to restart a level), so more levels where you can make a wrong decision (ideally one that resets you to a previous state, as opposed to getting stuck and needing to restart) would be great. I love the visuals and audio too, both great!
