Really love the art style and the game idea looks great! But unfortunately, doesn't seem like the link works...

Yup, the link seems broken :(
Wut? Just tried and it is working. Maybe it was some temporary server issue. Anyway, I'll host it in another server and provide a backup link.
EDIT: Done! https://axon.itch.io/dwarf-bros
Really fun game. I got 22 points :D The Sound and the Art fit very nicely together. One thing that could still be added is, that when your brother gets stuck you can't proceed
The mechanic of an NPC helper is a cool idea. The art and music are very well done. I felt like it could use some sort of "pressure" to do better (a time limit or something) but otherwise very fun to play!
At first play, i was like "what the hell, why is my competitor can dig sideways, but i can't!" Then I realized that second dwarf is on my team! =D Concept of splitting duties like that is neat idea! I think you should dig (get it? XD) in that direction!
Neat idea! Don't think I've ever worked with a stupid brother quite like Luizi before, which made for an interesting game idea. I got to 34 gems on floor 13 before it got too repetitive for me ^_^. Occasionally, it made me feel *really* clever with getting myself in just the right location to get Luizi to do what I wanted, but usually he kinda went off and did his own thing and I wasn't quite sure what he was going to do, I think I never completely understood his rules - when he'd fall more than one space down or when he might turn around while falling and suddenly mine back in the other direction...
Graphics and audio were also pretty good!
Very nice change from the more typical digging game, to have the NPC digging sideways for you. When I tried the game in Firefox, it was not scaled up to fit the game area, and was slow. Then I tried in Chrome and it worked fine.
The game overall is pretty solid, I think the main improvement that could be made would be to have a bit more variety, such as bombs you could collect and use. After the first 8 or so floors it started to feel like more of the same. Regardless it was fun, well done!
Interesting take on the miner theme, the NPC hurried away and down quickly most of the time, so I got stuck... Art and sound are nice and fit the game, could maybe be a bit less repetitive. One thing, can the HTML view be made larger? Was hard to see on my laptop screen. Good job!
@zondarg Yes, just use the mirror link and set the browser zoom as you like :) And I agree about art and sound being repetitive, I'd totally improve on that in a longer attempt. Thanks for your feedback! BTW, I agree with most feedback from everyone here, you're spot on, thanks a lot, ppl :)
Interesting take on the controls, but I did find that most of the time Luiz just ended up stuck somewhere, and I couldn't really make much progress without him. I did find that the game quickly became repetitive though - there just wasn't too much to do there, but great job on graphics though - I liked them.
Great to see the link working now!
Really love the game concept - very innovative! Graphics are great and music/sounds are decent too. Think the main issue is that there aren't a lot of ways to stop your mate once you've gone down one level. More gray rocks would be great so you can stop the guy more actively.
I love that you can but your buddy on your head in the right circumstances to move in around. A great take on a mining game.
Really fun concept, would've been nice if there were 2 block high jumps, and maybe a dangerous block/enemy. I must admit I expected to lose when I left my brother behind at first. It's somewhat hard to tell that you've transitioned to another floor rather than the level resetting (I thought falling out of the map was killing me)
A fun entry! I'm glad the dwarves can stand on the other's head. :)
Really liked the visuals. That combined with the gameplay gave me a lot of nostalgia from some of the gameboy games I used to play. Great entry!
I really like the split controls between the NPC and the player character. Unfortunately I think they would only really apply particularly well in carefully engineered scenarios... I think this game could possibly work pretty well as a puzzle game with pre-designed levels where the goal is to get all the diamonds (or at least, some proportion of the diamonds).
That is, I often found that there was not a lot of point to try to figure out where to direct Luiz to, as I could usually just dig down and grab a couple diamonds, and then dig to the exit. It was certainly fun when Luiz interacted with me in interesting ways, however. Especially when he managed to grab a couple diamonds.
I like the pixel-art graphics. They certainly complement the digging theme quite well.
Nice game. Plays well and I like the art style. I initially thought the other guy was a rival rather then help. There is not really any incentive to try to explore much as you can just go straight down, grabbing one or two gems per level. I think it would work better to be more of a puzzle game where you have to properly work with the npc to get all the gems.
