LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Ephyra by Flipsy 2024-10-08T13:12:43Z

Great interpretation of 'tiny creatures'! It’s fun to play and looks fantastic. The only thing that could be improved is the itch.io integration of the player.

Microstrike by TheSand 2024-10-10T11:27:16Z

Great arcade game! Keep up the awesome work!

Jelly Gang by Split82 2024-10-08T14:38:23Z

An absolutely superbly made game! I’m genuinely at a loss for anything negative to say—everything about it is just delightful!

TINY PACK by xk_the_name 2024-10-08T11:54:02Z

The screenshots of the game look really interesting, but unfortunately, the world didn’t load for me, so I could only see the GUI with everything else remaining black.

----

ok disabling post processing works and now the world is rendered but this setting is reseted in every new screen and I must disable it again.

Crittey (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2024-10-08T11:07:10Z

very good job!

Tiny Baking Simulator by Sarah 2024-10-10T02:10:41Z

Thank you for this wonderfully cozy baking simulator! The animations are absolutely delightful and add so much charm to the experience. I couldn’t get enough of them! :)

The Pasture by Fis 2024-10-08T13:00:00Z

This is an absolutely adorable little 'Candy Crush'-like ordering game! The charm and fun really shine through. Keep up the fantastic work! :)

Ogron Gramsay's Culinary Journey by N.O.X 2024-10-08T12:01:59Z

You had me hooked the moment I saw 'recipes with socks'—what a delightfully quirky concept! The game idea is absolutely fantastic, and the creativity behind it shines through. I’m completely charmed!

Tiny Terrarium by dnich013 2024-10-10T02:18:15Z

A fantastic sandbox for creating terrariums! The only issue I encountered was that the mouse cursor and the object positions were slightly out of sync. Other than that, it’s a great experience!

PATCHONOMICON by pepnou 2024-10-08T12:18:42Z

Great idea with the 'patches,' but unfortunately, it takes a long time when you’re waiting for specific colors.

Necrohorde by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2024-10-08T11:40:10Z

The art style is beautiful, and the concept is truly inspired! You can really see the thought and creativity that went into this. I absolutely love it!

Tiny nomads by Vhalenn 2024-10-08T11:05:56Z

I'm absolutely blown away by this game! The animations, sound, and overall theme are just so adorable. Fantastic job! The only tiny critique I could give is the integration of the Unity player on the website, but honestly, that's nitpicking at a very high level!

Snow Flipper by nevercade 2024-10-08T17:15:08Z

What a charming and cozy game! I had such a delightful time playing it. Just a quick question—the fishing rod for 500, is that the final upgrade?

Beetle Tower by Doot 2024-10-08T12:11:51Z

Oh my gosh, Tower Defense done differently! The idea of capturing the attackers and using them as weapons is pure genius. Thanks for this amazing game!

walking pet by MegaHana 2024-10-08T13:37:32Z

An interesting mix of pets and Halloween—very creative!

Decay and Rebirth by MeowMeowLitClub 2024-10-08T13:24:10Z

The visuals are absolutely stunning, but the experience falls short without any feedback or indication of progress. It’s a shame because the game itself doesn’t feel as engaging as just admiring the screenshots.

Derpy by Mololo 2024-10-08T11:32:22Z

The idea of using matchbox cars for the theme 'tiny creatures' is pure genius—I never would have thought of it! You brought such a creative twist to the theme, and it’s so well executed. The sound dropouts I encountered here and there didn’t take away from the charm at all; after all, a few bugs are all part of the game jam magic! :) Fantastic work!

tiny villages by OldDog 2024-10-08T14:25:21Z

Why are you selling me crack? Seriously though, I'm totally addicted to your idle clicker!

Tiny Galaxies by Gabriel Chan 2024-10-08T13:42:57Z

Space cat—what an absolutely delightful concept! I’m completely in love with it!

The Shroom Store 🍄 (nothing is wrong here!) by TentacleDream 2024-10-08T11:21:49Z

very interesting game :)

Jurassic Justice: Miniature Mayhem by Mogmi 2024-10-07T23:50:49Z

Very much fun!

Journey from Critter Grove by galaxybat 2024-10-08T11:11:27Z

This game is the perfect example of 'don't judge a book by its cover.' The screenshots might make it look plain and unexciting, but once you play it, it's absolutely breathtaking. Sure, it doesn't have AAA graphics, but it looks great in action, and the transformations between the animals are just so charming!

Birbs Chat by SpaghettiCupcake 2024-10-08T16:21:15Z

Such an interesting concept! It’s really unique and captivating.

Soulkeeper by Vitaslayer 2024-10-08T11:47:44Z

Short but very well done. I really love the art style and the animations!

Tiny Trails by Custodi 2024-10-08T11:26:46Z

Such a fascinating game mechanic! It’s so refreshing to see something unique like this. Keep up the fantastic work—I'm excited to see where you take it next!

Fridge Life by IRoRoI 2024-10-08T11:43:07Z

This game definitely gives off major 'Sausage Party' vibes, and that’s what makes it so brilliant!

Defenders of the Crystal Skull by Imagicaine 2024-10-10T12:51:14Z

Really well-made tower defense game! The only drawback was that you couldn't keep the skeletons selected, so the challenge wasn’t about managing 'money' but rather clicking fast enough to summon new skeletons. Keep it up!

Druid's Friends by Risminator 2024-10-08T16:25:27Z

Nice game! For next time, you can find a guide on how to embed Godot web under ludumdare.com/resources/guides/embedding/

Butterjar by Zz1p 2024-10-08T11:37:35Z

An incredibly well-made game that brilliantly reimagines the classic Sokoban in reverse! The fresh twist on the familiar mechanics is both clever and captivating, offering a delightful challenge that keeps you hooked. Truly impressive work!

Doc, Something Under My Skin! by InOnesGraveDed 2024-10-08T11:17:11Z

My nightmares already thank you in advance. :D The art style is really well done. It's a pity the game didn't get finished, though.

Familiar Bones by barryrichter 2024-10-07T23:41:57Z

very cute game

Forest Guardians by Thomas Dougans 2024-10-08T13:33:56Z

The graphics look great, but unfortunately, the 'Uncanny Valley' effect comes into play here—the assets look good, but they don't quite fit together cohesively. Maybe a shader could work wonders here. Otherwise, it's a solid game!

Cat and Box by DragonMain 2024-10-08T13:04:25Z

Cats and boxes—what more could you possibly ask for? It’s a match made in heaven, and I’m absolutely here for it!

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T12:50:01Z

@yayagame Yeah, the resources are semi-randomly placed using a simplex algorithm. We ran out of time in the end to properly balance which values of the algorithm map to which resources.

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T12:52:14Z

@laywelin The idea of giving the dwarves direct 'mining' tasks was a last-minute decision. We'll definitely plan it out better next time. Thanks so much for your praise!

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T14:28:13Z

@mikeandtherest In the bottom left corner, you'll find the 'layer up' and 'layer down' buttons, which allow you to switch between the 5 different layers (theoretically, there could be unlimited layers, but we limited it to 5). Then, you just need to click on a tile, and the dwarves will automatically find their way to it using the ladders.

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T14:29:54Z

@sillyman987 Oh yeah, that’s an issue we dismissed as a 'this will never ever happen' scenario. Thanks for pointing it out!

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T14:51:26Z

@mrmaico Besides 'dirt,' 'stone,' 'iron,' and so on, there are other hidden resources in the earth, like 'silver,' 'gold,' and 'gems.' The chances of finding veins of these are quite low, but if you come across a large stone vein, there’s a chance that a valuable ore vein might be hidden inside. If not, well, that’s just bad luck! :( Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to adjust the ore probabilities for the lower levels. The basic idea behind the generation is based on simplex noise, and higher noise levels lead to better ores.

Bildschirmfoto 2024-10-08 um 16.54.57.png This is an example for silver.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! It really means a lot to us, and we're thrilled that you took the time to dive into the game and share your thoughts. We truly appreciate it!

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T16:02:46Z

@dhim The ladders are semi-randomly placed with a minimum distance of 20 tiles between them. Paths to the target are calculated using a weighted A* algorithm, where digging through different materials is factored into the calculation. For example, digging through dirt is easier than through stone, and digging through gold is easier than through iron. We deliberately chose not to include ambient audio (like hammer or pickaxe sounds) because we didn't have a concept for spatial sound. As for background music, we simply ran out of time.

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T22:28:01Z

@slippers Thank you so much for the kind words! And yes, the idea of being able to cancel tasks is already on our backlog, along with several other improvements, in case we decide to continue working on the game. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to share them—we might just implement them, though I can't make any promises!

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T22:32:19Z

@mechazawa, thanks so much for the kind words! It’s actually possible to find gold in the game right now, but it’s a very rare ore. Your best bet is to look for it in large stone clusters.

And your idea with the dragon is brilliant! We’ll definitely keep it in mind, and who knows—maybe one day you’ll get to send your dwarves into the depths to face off against a dragon!

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-08T22:33:13Z

@zype and @joshua-reumann, thank you both so much for the kind words! 😊
