LD56 — Tiny Creatures

TINY PACK by xk_the_name 2024-10-08T20:08:21Z

Amazing game, and incredible for only two days! I found the difficulty level to be just right, I died on the first pass, but learned enough about how the game works to win on the second attempt. Two minor suggestions: 1) the camera following the cursor gets to be a little much when you're dragging dice back and forth. 2) the bear's ears cover some of the dots on the dice.

The first few levels were "wow, this is easy", then things start getting more complicated and it's "oh, I get it now." Great work, especially considering the limitations of the console

Fun puzzle game! I'm not sure if most of the puzzles had an extra creature or two, or if I was just finding alternate solutions to some of them, but it was quite fun. It would be nice to be able to fast-forward the creatures movement, especially when you're trying the same puzzle three or four times.

I like the idea a lot, but it does get pretty repetitive after a while. It's also interesting that when you drag the workers directly to a task they get there immediately instead of having to walk there, which means that it seemed like I basically had to micro-manage the workers in order to have a chance of winning, if I just let them do their tasks by themselves they weren't fast enough. It would also be really nice to be able to get more workers, or upgrade them somehow. The art and sound design were lovely!

Very nice and chill game, music fits perfectly. I love that you can get more money and keep going instead of having to start over, but the crying sound effect goes on for an uncomfortably long time :grimacing:

Great sounds and visuals, and I love that there's a win condition, instead of the endless loop of a lot of clicker games.

I have a similar problem to lantto. I'm on a laptop with trackpad so I can't click left and right at the same time

Screen Shot 2024-10-10 at 7.31.10 PM.png Snagged the high score. Took me three tries, which should give an idea how much fun I was having! This is a seriously cool little game, I love the "figure it out yourself" vibe, which was done very well, the audio and visuals are on point, the gameplay seems simple, but definitely has some skill ceiling as you work out what "parts" are needed for various tasks without having to wait for the symbols to show up. My only complaint is that the symbols blinking on the "task board" can make it hard to spot which one you still need in the heat of the moment.

I had an issue with the web version, it didn't register mouse input at all (tried firefox and chrome on mac). The standalone mac application worked fine. Fun little game, although sometimes hard to see where your swarm is on levels with lots of wheat.

Very cool idea, and fun to figure out how to use the machine, although a tutorial would be nice. It's been said above, but since spawning loads of little guys is the objective, it would be nice to be able to get more out before things start lagging. Considering the time constraint, I'm not too bothered by either of those things, this is a fun little game!

Tiny Creatures - Lost Kittens by ybzpp 2024-10-12T15:41:14Z

The vibe is impeccable! It would have been nice to have a cursor indicator of where you're looking (instead of just the E), and I would have loved to have the music loop seamlessly (the music itself was great, though). I also agree with ArenAvgust, the backrooms scene at the end stops the cozy vibe and instead had me worrying about having some horrific creature pop up, it would have been nice to have been something more abstract and dream-like I think.

Maratus In Love by robin_schmitz 2024-10-10T21:14:53Z

Screen Shot 2024-10-10 at 5.07.30 PM.png Got soft-locked right at the start when I hit a mushroom with upward momentum. Fun game otherwise, the controls are very intuitive.

Soulkeeper by Vitaslayer 2024-10-10T23:16:12Z

Very fun little game! A bit on the easy side, and a bit more variety in enemies would be nice, but overall quite good.

Buggie's Spider Golf by mortusnegati 2024-10-10T21:05:57Z

Love the idea! The camera is a little wonky, but it's quite fun to play. It seems like if you pick up a powerup by walking into it (before your shot), it doesn't reset if you miss that shot and undo, and you have to start the whole level over.

Bump League by soffu 2024-10-08T18:14:43Z

It would be nice if cars that spun out and caught fire were considered "out of the race", otherwise you have to wait out the whole 20 second countdown for cars that aren't moving. I like the concept, but it would be fun to have more gameplay, maybe earning money by placing well to upgrade your cars further for the next race.

GLOW by Fenix131113 2024-10-13T17:10:50Z

Take this review with a grain of salt, I'm going to be pretty critical because there's a *very* good game in here, but also quite a few elements that nearly made me stop playing on several occasions out of frustration. All of the timings felt too tight. The whole first section creates this really great atmosphere, which makes you want to take your time to enjoy (and make sure you're not running headlong into danger), but you pretty much have to just hold right the whole time or you won't be fast enough. I nearly gave up from frustration in the first section until I realized that you have to stop at each lantern to "charge up", it would be nice to have that explained more clearly. The "searchlights" that flash on and off also have very punishing hitboxes, and I died many times to having just the tiniest bit of the character in the light. It's also frustrating to have charging enemies show up from behind you, there's no way to expect them, since you never passed them, they just appear behind you, and you're pretty much guaranteed to die the first time.

Again, I hope I don't come across as too negative, because I *really* like the core of this game, but it was more frustration than fun for me.

Oh God Please Don't Kill Me Mr. Frog by crushedsummers 2024-10-10T23:45:59Z

Love the art style! For the "wordle"-style minigame, it would be nice to see your previous guesses, otherwise it's hard to remember what letters you've already ruled out.

Silky Slinger by Shlolo 2024-10-08T18:04:16Z

Very fun, I'd love to play more levels! I feel like the spider could be a bit faster and/or jump a bit higher, but to be fair that does push the player towards using the webs to move around. (also thanks for making a Godot web game that runs properly on mac  )
