LD42 — Running out of space

The last witch-knight by HolyBlackCat 2018-08-15T20:10:12Z

Very nice one! The controls work perfect, the grafics look good, the sound effects are good as well. The balancing is well done, the move-set of the enemies is well thought of. It is very hard (reminds me of titan souls), but it is not unfair. I managed to beat it with the 27th try - and you managed to keep me motivated the 26 times before.

For future releases: a moody soundtrack and more levels, please. But for this event: great. My favourite so far.

BALL BUSTERS by tedbolt 2018-08-21T07:13:29Z

Hey, I like your game! Sound and grapics fit the retro-style. I like what you made of the space attack - approach. I have had a look at both modes, sadly I couldn't test it with another person. But I am sure it would be fun.

Things that would make it even better: * Some background music * A scalable AI (that by chance makes some mistakes) * Something to improve longtime-motivation like different modes or upgrades or different levels(?) or sth like that.

GRANDMA KNIGHT by manusaiz 2018-08-17T11:37:18Z

I liked the story and some of your ideas of representing the aging. You did well by making the world smaller as the character became older and slower. I also liked the music.

Why did the forest have to be all maze-like? Maybe it fits the memory-thing and her ability to find her way back home, but still I do not like the pathfinding part.

Altogether it is a nice entry and I enjoyed playing it! Thank you.

SPACETROIDS by newtinn 2018-08-15T11:54:38Z

Game mechanics work well, no problems with controls etc. Graphics fit the retro-style.

But once you beat about 40 enemies and the map does not get smaller, the number of spawning enemies is very low (Do you let them spawn and get destroyed instantly if they are out of the map?)

You applied the theme to asteroids, but to me it does not really work out. The gameplay does not motivate very long, especially in "late game".

Maybe some explosions for the enemies would have been nice. Also some bonus items for different/stronger weapons as well as new types of enemies and maybe some mechanism to be able to temporarily grow the map again. Like some items you have to collect to prevent the edges from crushing you...

ROGER THE DODGER by unfinished 2018-08-14T15:20:21Z

I like the graphics and the sound & music - they fit the style of the game well. But this game is too frustrating for me and I am not much into the gameplay (which is basically frogger, i guess).

I gave it several tries (more than is good for my mood! ;) ), in the end trying to look for some of the perks mentioned in the intro, but even with bullet-time the game is very hard. Every now and then some objects move vertically and very fast, making it nearly impossible to dodge.

To make it work on people like me: More rewards, no unfair vertical enemies and more possibilities to act (maybe you have added them, but also hid them well ;) )

ROGER THE DODGER by unfinished 2018-08-24T08:50:13Z

I just tried the post-jam version. You did a great job here! Especially the replenishing shields and the possibility to retry after crashing did wonders to the fun and motivation! I like the music.

Using the bomb gives some time to relax and breath and in combination with the bullet time there is really some room for strategy ;)

The information about the powers at the bottom screen are a bit too small and whenever I use the bomb i have even more problems reading them. Maybe you could place them at a more prominent spot and increase its size and/or contrast?

If you manage to fill the world with some more story (e.g. when visiting the other space stations) and maybe add things like the possibility to collect items/resources/scrap and upgrade the ship somehow and altogether increase the game duration (I managed to finish it in about 15 Min) this game will become really fun :)

Thanks for improving and letting me play! :)

Deck Adventure by Le Slo 2018-08-14T09:39:49Z

Nice Game! It took me a while to figure out the mechanics and I am still not sure if I got all of them, but then it unfolds its addictive character ;) Graphics and music fit very well!

I literally run out of space once (although I think there was one legal move left that was not working - Couldn't move on a golden shield card) and there was no game-over message.

A description of how to play would help.

*Edit* I saw your comment and checked the instruction screen. I had to play once more and it is really fun!

The graphics and the music really are perfect for this kind of game and the gameplay is fun. It's quite challenging as well and I will give it a few more tries to get better at it ;)

Oddblock by Joe Sycalik 2018-08-24T11:46:19Z

Hi, it is a fun little game. Over time, the music can get a little annoying. :P The controls sometimes feel a bit laggy because movement is grid-based.

Will Survive by foxserranu 2018-08-14T10:01:04Z

Fun game, the artwork is great and it looks quite good. The music does not fit the rather dark mood and in the (very nice) intro I would have wished for something more dramatic. Overall there are missing some more things you could do to add some replay-value. It was no problem to survive ;)

SteamRush by Tralius 2018-08-15T11:40:23Z

The music is good. Before spawning there is a lag that may lead to instant death when enemies spawn right next to you. The dashing-system did not really work for me - I could dash, but was not able to use it to cross holes, so it was rather useless. And I could not figure out how to increase heat to be able to attack(?) enemies.

SteamRush by Tralius 2018-08-15T19:10:06Z

After reading you comment I started the game again. In the tutorial you do not mention anything about shooting or even mouse-control. I only figured it out now and was able to shoot - I have to say it becomes a whole new experience ;) It makes the game much easier and much more playable. Still i do not see any use in the push ability since I can shoot. I updated my ratings ;) Cheers

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T08:47:48Z

Very well done! I like the growing black stuff :) Gameplay and controls felt good! Only downside is the text that vanishes quite fast. I was not able to read everything, but that's only a minor. Good job!

Summons Vs Bullets by Shakts 2018-08-17T07:19:02Z

The idea of the game is very innovative! I like it a lot, but unfortunatly for me the concept did not work, I am not exactly sure about the reason.

I think there are some mechanics you need to adjust. * The avatar moves too slow. * It feels a little weird to control it with the mouse - maybe keyboard-control? * Because of the restriction of summoning familiars based on the "mana"-resource space did not matter to me.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Unicorn by JacksGamesSucks 2020-04-22T18:11:44Z

Nice game! :) I love that your kids provided the graphics. Some of the signs are just mean! :D Good job

Keep Moving by Robin49 2020-04-22T16:48:16Z

Not bad :-) I have a few remarks though: * A reset button would be nice (as someone already mentioned) * The right border came as a surprise - maybe make it stick out visibly? * I would have liked it if the enemies were not able to cross the obstacles - or at least some of them * I don't really get why you have to move to not die. It does not make too much sense to me - the enemies are reason enough, why have an additional counter

Could become a fun game, I like the idea

Deforestree by Azo 2020-04-22T17:50:16Z

They cut down my trees! 44346 :-) But I needed two runs - in the first I also offered some trees to the orcs to "keep them alive"... xD Nice game :-)

Keep IT Alive by anhel 2020-04-22T17:30:51Z

I love concept and graphics and the music fits. And I was like: "Oh, someone really did this - and it looks like IT as well!" Also you took one of the most iconic scenes! Sadly I do not like that kind of game - too stressful for me ;-) But good job anyway!

Probably the worst game in this event, but I'm still so proud that I finished it by ThatSoloDev 2020-04-21T13:32:34Z

Hey :) I like the idea, but it's actually too hard for me ;) Sometimes I was not exactly sure which trap hit me. And in the second screen you have to be really fast and already know where the traps are to be able to beat it (which I did not...) It feels kind of sad that I only was able to play a small fraction of probably some more levels and I did not even manage to see the other kind of trap. Maybe start easier and increase difficulty gradually. Or increase the screen-size, fit more into each screen and let the player restart at the beginning of each screen?

Across the Lake by stephan steinbach 2020-04-22T16:05:13Z

Wow! In the beginning I was not too impressed by the simplicity of the Gameplay. But then I figured out when to press and it looks so beautiful and I just wanted to get a little further than before - and then I played for 15min or so :-D. I tried to cross the lake, but I stopped at ~800m (cumulated) - IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE?!. And then the Night came! This game is art! :)
