had fun playing, loved the art, wish there was an indicator of where the marble I was supposed to hit was (at least for the first one)

hexela 2025-10-07 18:33

Very fun game, an ingenius idea with special marbles. Enjoyed it a lot, really loved the music and the art style.

purrseus 2025-10-07 23:00

This is what a 5 Star entry looks like! The production value is simply insane 😳 Tight and buttery smooth gameplay, an absolute unit of a BANGER soundtrack, over the top character design, I'm simply blown away.

Thank you for creating this gem!

You might want to add "HTML (Web)" to your list of links (it can be the same link) because right now it implies you'd have to download the game to play (might deter some people, and they'd really miss out!).

mikoartme 2025-10-07 23:08

Fun game, I like the art and music! wish I could throw more marbles haha

greenradiation 2025-10-07 23:16

The cutscenes are so hilarious. The game is so fun and the concept is great, I really loved how you pulled it off. And the character designs are so cool! Although it's a bit hard to figure out how the damage is calculated. Anyway, great job!

leo115 2025-10-07 23:19

Really fun! plays great, premise and game loop seems solid. There's just enough of a "will I get it" risk/reward as well as just tossing out a ball and seeing what happens.

re-markable 2025-10-07 23:19

Wow this is so insanely good. Fully agree with the other commenter that this is what a 5 star entry looks like! It all just works so well and it's such a fun little game, perfect length for a gamejam. Awesome job guys :)

I absolutely loved the art style and the animations! I'd love to try a gamejam in this style some time. You guys got any tips on what makes this style work so good? What good practices are, or what to focus on to achieve this visual style, stuff like that?

nomus 2025-10-08 00:04

@hexela @dullai @mikoartme thank you !

@purrseus Thank you so much ! I'll try to set that up, that makes more sense hehe

nomus 2025-10-08 00:12

@re-markable thank you so much for the kind comment ! I got mostly inspired by the old games from newgrounds, like dad & me and some other types of games in the same aesthetics! I think the style works well because it's a good ammount of goofyness and simple shapes, avoiding little details and focusing on the simpler ideas while keeping everything bouncy and round in the animations if possible!

mestrerothld 2025-10-08 00:28

My firt all 5/5. This is a great take on the theme, top notch execution. Character graphics and lines are a special point. My only tiny grip is about the final of the turn, where your ball gets slooowly stopping for too long; that could be faster. But it's a minor issue. The entry is really awesome! Congratulations to the team.

koolruz 2025-10-08 01:20

This was *so* good. The character art was incredible. The concept was incredible. The way that it tied into the theme was incredible. Move over deckbuilders, this feels like it's establishing a new genre of roguelike marble-collectors. Just these four predetermined marbles had so much synergy built into them, and I can imagine how it would be so much fun to start building up a synergistic toolkit of marbles, and pull them randomly out one by one for each fight.

My only constructive feedback is about the arena design - The way that the random non-marble objects got pushed around often caused them to trap marbles in unfun ways, and they weren't something that you could predictably try to move around, due to their heavy weight and strange shape. This led to me sometimes just throwing a bomb to randomly shift the board around, rather than try to use my marbles strategically.

I also ran into a weird bug on my second playthrough while writing up feedback - My marbles slowed to a stop, but I wasn't prompted to continue. I'm not sure if there is some floating point math causing a marble to get stuck with *just* barely more than 0 speed, but it might be something to look into.

protohere 2025-10-08 01:58

incredible! I was hopingh to play more but had the bug where the game comes to a halt and i cant continue. Music and art is phenomenal, and genuinely fun

ynnon 2025-10-08 11:11

The music is absolutely wonderful! And the graphics are beautiful. I really loved the vibe, and the enemies are interesting and have a sense of humor. I’d love to see what other characters you could add — the ones you have already are amazing!

nomus 2025-10-08 16:16

@ynnon @protohere @mestrerothld thank you ! The web version has probably more bugs and while testing we didnt find any, it's so weird that only some people get recurrent ones.

@koolruz We had so many ideas for new marbles but the time and arena size made it too hard to implement. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the feedback !

anachrone 2025-10-08 19:32

@ynnon thanks you so much, i had so much fun composing it, its alway a strange and good sensation to hear the music you wrote in a game haha

exozetart 2025-10-08 21:06

wow, this is such a fun game! the gameplay is simple, but very effective! with just 4 types of marbles you can create so many cool combos. The concept of beating four bosses and collect their marbles is such a great idea. I also love the art style a lot!

she-wrote 2025-10-08 21:22

Wow! One of the best games I’ve seen so far. It has so much style and presents a really unique gameplay loop, along with great music and sfx. I’d love to see more content for the game.

A small complaint I have is that I kinda confused the first opponent with the player character — I think they look pretty similar. But overall I love the game! Great work!

arthur-mairs 2025-10-08 22:19

This was definitely the best game I have played so far this jam! Super fun to get some satisfying combos together for very big numbers! could totally see this being a full game! just thinking about the massive numbers you could make is very fun! Great entry, well done!

skiddings 2025-10-08 22:24

Loads of fun, very funny art, great music and sound, solid gameplay with no bugs. Incredible, well done!

ghost-in-the-toast 2025-10-08 22:28

Fantastic game! Loved the art style, music and the gameplay! I was a little confused on if marbles that already existed increased in damage as well. I loved the mechanics of each marble. Very simple but very clever!

conduit 2025-10-08 22:29

This was tight! Felt very nostalgic, loved all the marble type games from the 90s lol anyway, the music was hands down my favorite part of this experience. 10/10!

accardo 2025-10-08 22:29

I marbled them all! Thought I'd lose to the playground king but the devourer marbles come in clutch! Simple but fun gameplay with interesting mechanics, nice SFX and music as well! I also like how uncanny the characters look, good work.

exludos 2025-10-08 22:33

This game is amazing, took me a round to actually figure out the mechanics but once it clicked, couldn't stop. Vibes are just amazing and surpsingly complex

chelc 2025-10-08 22:49

This game is sooo much fun, there's something pleasurable about shooting some marbles and watching them bounce around and get big numbers!! The art style is also hilarious, I love the portraits of your opponent, and the animation?? wow!! Great work!

blackcat508 2025-10-09 05:03

this is really fun! Love the art and character designs

yuriscat 2025-10-09 09:19

I’m not sure if it’s just me! The link Marble_Trouble.zip doesn’t seem to be downloadable! I’ll ask my friends to see if they can download it. Judging by your cover, this game should have great art, haha. Well done!

yuriscat 2025-10-09 09:28

We ended up playing it on the web version. Wow, you guys animated every character and even gave them different animations for taking hits, that’s really amazing. The characters were already beautifully drawn, and the animations made them even more detailed. I also noticed that each marble has its own rolling frame sequence, which absolutely impressed me. It’s incredible that you managed to complete so much in such a short time. I got stuck twice in the fight against Theodore; he’s a bit tough, but I had a lot of fun! Once again, I absolutely love your character designs, especially Theodore.

nomus 2025-10-09 09:38

@yuriscat we recently pushed a bugfix so it's probably because of that, will look into that thanks for the report ! And thank you so much! It was rough finishing all 4 characters, and I even had ideas for 4 more of them, I'm glad we settled for 4 max lol

blushingcrow 2025-10-09 12:22

Art is a lock for the fun theme, you guys were really across this thing - great idea and characters. Keep up the great work :)

jamesxm 2025-10-09 12:45

Nice lil game loop was fun to learn how to use all the marbles and stack the numbers! you killed it with the illustrations! overall it brought me back to middle school playing the lil games on newgrounds so nice job!

luffysome 2025-10-09 16:20

cool music, characters visual and marbles

kukaracila215 2025-10-09 18:27

Great art, intuitive mechanics, very satisfying marble clinks and physics! Would love to see this idea expanded on!

naru 2025-10-09 20:49

Awesome take on the theme! brings me back to my childhood)

mumu 2025-10-10 10:47

the art is perfect, reminds me of danpaladin's newgrounds games from my childhood, especially dad'n me with the playground ssetting lol. All subtle animations are just right and the concept is creative too, all 5s from me.

pepnou 2025-10-10 10:56

Awesome game. Nothing much to say: the game is fun to play, the music, sfx & art are great. I would've liked to play more of it. Great entry

dumchevdev 2025-10-10 13:11

I fell in love with your art, cool and funny game, well done!

nomus 2025-10-10 15:23

@jamesxm @blushingcrow @luffysome @kukaracila215 @naru @pepnou @dumchevdev Thank you so much for the comments !

@mumu Thank you ! Danpaladin was a great inspiration for this game indeeed, his art stuck to me for eternity

nanaschi1984 2025-10-10 15:40

Art is definitely crazy for 3 days creation. Gameplay was fun as well. Thanks for this experience :3

adamwigs 2025-10-10 19:24

Finished the whole game! Love a good bounce game and enjoyed the different marbles. Liked figuring out the best ordering of the marbles too to maximize damaged. I think I one shot the final boss in the end!

anachrone 2025-10-10 20:25

I published the soundtrack on soundcloud, if you want to listen it during your marble partie ! https://soundcloud.com/anachronemusic/sets/marbles-trouble-ost-ludum-dare

threeli 2025-10-11 04:10

Sorry I'm late to playing your project, today was the first day I could get back on the computer, but I'm here now so let's go!

Hands down one of the best I've played. Incredible aesthetic (both art and sound) decision making which strongly balances against a very polished, very fun gameplay loop. My only question is are you planning on keeping up work on it post jam? You should, brilliant work all around!

ciphereo 2025-10-11 04:16

What a fascinating game! I love art and music.

mestrerothld 2025-10-11 04:40

Hello there. Just to clarify my previous comment, after reading your reply: "My only tiny grip is about the final of the turn, where your ball gets slooowly stopping for too long; that could be faster".

What I meant is that the "friction" feels too slow when the marble is aaaalmost stopping... We get waiting for a few seconds that I feel could be avoided. It doesn't feel like a bug, but you know better.

Anyways, as mentioned, it's only a small annoyance. This is a total 5/5 game. Can't wait to see what else you guys make.

placeholders 2025-10-11 05:35

had so much fun playing it! loved the theme and the art filled me with nostalgic for the early flash games / Newgrounds era. congrats!

poboy 2025-10-11 09:47

Freaking love the character designs. One of the best jam games I've ever seen, and probably the best OST. Absolutely incredible that this is 3 days!

mrbamboo 2025-10-11 11:38

Nice concept! I played few rounds and have fun to try targeting objects! Noce graphics!

nomus 2025-10-11 16:15

@threeli Thank you ! Glad you enjoyed it so much ! I'm not too sure about continuing it yet, but maybe in the future yes hehe

@mestrerothld Yes that's true, with some minor adjustements with placing the marble wherever you want and also stopping earlier it would be a really good QoL !

@ciphereo @placeholders @poboy @mrbamboo Thank you so much ! I love that people get nostalgic about it.

6knowledge 2025-10-12 08:50

Currently in the top 3 of this game jam (at least personally). Everything was clearly made with a plan and so every piece fits together from audio to gameplay. Didn't get to see how restarting is handled, coming down to the last ball in the final level. The black hole marble seems to be either the biggest W or troll depending on where it wants to go. For me it got stuck in a corner but a bomb managed to clutch it into the boss to win the whole thing. Very well done.

dominosxpizza 2025-10-12 12:49

Fun game it has this classic newground flash game feeling, love it well done !

piero-pbes-studio 2025-10-12 20:00

very nice, very good game idea and the execution is cool

zathnic 2025-10-14 01:49

Feels a bit random with how much the marbles move and you can only really control the first impact. But still fun to watch them bounce around and rack up points. Nice presentation, and a marble that swallows others is a cool idea

mrv 2025-10-14 16:50

browser_LuiGWS6DS4.png ) i love this game

nomus 2025-10-15 00:45

@6knowledge @dominosxpizza @piero-pbes-studio Thank you so much !

@zathnic Thank you ! we were bound to have some randomness in it, couldnt be avoided, that's mostly why we made different combos if done well could easely beat any stage

@mrv Holy that's insane ! It's pretty hard to get such a high devourer without killing the boss first, biggest I had was 17k but 29k that's insane, thank you for exploding playground king to bits with that omega marble

epb9000 2025-10-17 04:28

This was incredibly polished! Reminds me why I'm not any good at pool, but these guys have super powers so very much lucky me.

I don't have anything to add that wasn't already said, so I leave you with this:

regicidalmaniac.png

nomus 2025-10-17 05:23

@epb9000 absolutely love it thank you

makache 2025-10-17 19:50

This is currently my top-rated game from the jam! The music, animations, and overall feel are absolutely superb — it's genuinely enjoyable to play.

The combat mechanics are fantastic — a unique mix between billiards and fighting that works surprisingly well.

My only minor setback was getting sent back to the beginning after losing to the final boss, but that's a small issue.

Amazing work!

lesdremlet 2025-10-18 17:27

"Oh my god, I love absolutely everything about this game - an excellent idea and brilliant execution! The graphics and music go together so magically! I got a lot of positive emotions from the process, died for the first time on Double Trouble, but on the second try I finished the game to the end. And when I saw the final credits, I realized that it wasn't enough for me, and I want more. I would gladly play a full version of this game, it seems to me that this concept has room to grow and develop. Incomparable work, bravo!"

homoludens 2025-10-20 09:08

I finished the game and enjoyed every moment of it. Definitely one of the juiciest games I played.

coleslaughter 2025-10-20 18:45

[Thanks for submitting your game to stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2588634056?t=01h45m38s)

The personality on this one was tops, and the gameplay was simple yet juicy. Y'all clearly know where to put your focus during a jam weekend!

nomus 2025-10-22 00:35

@makache @lesdremlet @homoludens thank you so much !

@coleslaughter Thank you for playing it on your stream ! Was a blast seeing you enjoy it !
