Unfortunately, it seems like the camera doesn't follow the player after the first level :(

Love the art, especially your drawings for the introduction!

sodagummy 2024-04-16 15:26

@literally-void Hello thank you for your feedback! I attempted to fix the camera (it broke on the build previously TwT) so hopefully the game can be played on itch.io now!

7uc4s 2024-04-16 15:31

game is pretty hard to handle, but loved the concept!

sodagummy 2024-04-16 15:33

@7uc4s I'll work on a patch for the controls after the jam hehe Thanks for the feedback!

trux 2024-04-16 15:33

The game-play is really hard, and that doesn't seem to be by intention, but rather due to the fact that the controls are highly unpredictable - this was a major detractor for me. This saddens me a bit because i really loved the intro to the game - really well drawn and cute!

the4thcircle 2024-04-16 15:33

I had real trouble with the control scheme, but I guess thats because I've never played a game that moves that way, so pretty innovative.

marin-davys 2024-04-16 15:34

Made it to level three. I really liked the art in the opening sequence and think that the movement system is a cool idea. It seems to me, however, that the player gets too easily stuck on corners, which makes said movement system a bit hard to use. Nevertheless, it's a good use of the jam theme and a well-made game overall. I might also recommend that you find a way of differentiating the levels beyond just the quantity of enemies and layout of the map.

eonarheim 2024-04-16 15:41

I think the goal sank into a wall for me on the first level so couldn't complete it.

I had a lot of fun blasting enemies. Discovered I could ricochet off the level to get those hard to reach. Also the story at the beginning was awesome great art! I like the concept of jump to different islands in space, gives me of a mario galaxy vibe.

pelmanable 2024-04-16 15:52

After a completing 3rd level, the game just froze. The game is more about fighting with not responsive controls.

Intro comic drawn very good. Love it)

erukolindo 2024-04-16 15:55

Got past three levels, then the game threw an error. But besides that, while on a technical level this game just doesn't work as intended half the time (the character either spinning in circles or going off in whatever direction it feels like), it was still really fun.

axodo 2024-04-16 16:07

I loved the intro, pretty and funny. I also like the concept, but as others noted, it's hard to go where you want, as the controls seem buggy. That being said, I still wanted to go to the end. Good work, that just need some adjustments :)

vkonstantin 2024-04-16 16:14

Took some time to figure out the games idea of gravity. Once I did, it became more playable. While the technical part isn't great, I personally liked the idea and it has some potential, had some fun playing. I assume the third level was the final one since no one, including me, managed to get past it. The intro comic is cool.

sodagummy 2024-04-16 16:29

Hello everyone! I have done another patch on the end scene hopefully you can see my last couple storyboard bits now TwT

literally-void 2024-04-16 17:46

@sodagummy I feel bad being the one to tell you this but now I can't get past the intro, it just stops on the controls screen :(

k4su 2024-04-16 17:59

Unfortunately the game does not launch on this site :( I guess you have the same issue I had with my game when publishing it. Make sure to

- pack it as a ZIP index.html is at the root-level aside the folders created by Unity - disable “Data Caching” when creating the WebGL build in “Player Settings” -> “Player” -> “Publishing Settings”

k4su 2024-04-16 18:02

@sodagummy

Unfortunately the game does not continue after the controls screen... Every time I press "ENTER" it says "Go to next scene" in the console, but nothing else happens :'(

Please mention me in case it's a bug and you've fixed it. I'd like to try your game :)

sodagummy 2024-04-16 23:30

Okay I did another rush patch! Hopefully players can now reach the end. Thank you to @literally-void & @k4su for notifying me and special thanks to @k4su for helping me fix it for this website!

k4su 2024-04-16 23:31

Just launched it on ldjam.com to very it works. Thank you for the fix, it's on my list of games to try out ;-) @sodagummy

k4su 2024-04-16 23:39

Meh, couldn't wait, had to play it :D I really like the concept of making a game with variable gravity. I always wanted to play around with gravity but never found a good idea. I'm really happy to have found your game as I enjoyed it very much, thank you! :)

p.s. I can vote on the 'Audio' category but there's no sound for me?

literally-void 2024-04-17 00:01

That last level was SO TOUGH but it was worth it for the art

baluj 2024-04-17 00:02

I like the concept, but I find the controls a little weird and sometimes I get caught in corners.

t-c 2024-04-17 02:49

As others have mentioned, the game is pretty twitchy and has some movement bugs. With that said, I'm still impressed with what you managed to accomplish. Setting new terrain you circle around, handing jumps and jump direction, etc., were all well done for a game jam. I really liked the title and theme of this one, good work!

custodi 2024-04-18 15:38

Funny name, like last animes with essays in names) Movement is lagging quite a bit, sometimes had to restart the game. No bad idea for game, but movement needs fixing as fast as possible

mnemosynevl 2024-04-18 15:40

Great artwork and having a story is a big motivator to keep playing. The controls mechanic is a bit unusual at first, but once I got used to it, it became very interesting. The feeling when you find a spot where you can fly through space without obstacles is just priceless.

Some feedback: 1. sometimes the character was spinning in place, briefly flying off fixes it, but it occurs very often, and it's very annoying. 2. At the beginning of the level my character spawned inside tiles several times, once it got stuck too well and I had to quit.

Apart from that, it's a wonderful and a fun game with an interesting mechanic.

lonthy 2024-04-18 17:59

the intro is nice but the movement is quite unpleasant

alexis-brochec 2024-04-18 18:05

Great artwork, for a first entry by yourself you can be proud of yourself. The mouvement is a bit clunky, I didn't really understood when you could walk on wall or not, or how the gravity change really work. (up and down or left right)

The mecanics is great, maybe go with a smaller map but a more complex and balanced.

keep it up, great job

lectvs 2024-04-18 18:07

Interesting game! Love how you made the player move around the platforms even though they're made of square tiles. Like others said this could use a little polish, but overall a neat entry. Love the art in the cutscene as well. Great job!

callmety 2024-04-18 18:08

Although the controls were a bit buggy, this was probably one of my favorite games from the jam so far. I really liked the concept, and you did well into making it work. Good job!

skeffles 2024-04-18 18:28

Fantastic intro, felt a little buggy when landing on new islands but enjoyable.

hexyvexy 2024-04-18 18:44

It's a novel concept with the mechanic, and the into cutscene was delightful. It's a shame the collision and art doesn't seem to quite come together. Random generation was a bold move, it may have been better to make bespoke levels with rounded colliders.

cananaman 2024-04-18 22:55

I don't even care about the buggy controls tbh, the control scheme is so novel and interesting I kinda look past it there, I would love to see what a movement scheme like this would look like if you had the chance to polish it! Enjoyable game, good stuff

googlefrog 2024-04-21 11:46

The movement mechanic is very interesting.

fabula-rasa 2024-04-21 18:02

Managed to get to the end and save my dog with barely any health left. Ufffff.

I did not enjoy the movement mechanic. It's unique, but that might exactly be a problem. It feels... kinda wonky, and not in a very good way. More frustrating than challenging. Maybe all it needs is a bit of polish. I honestly don't know. Maybe it's only me.

I enjoyed shooting enemies from behind corners  And I really liked the sketches at the star and end. Very cute.

I really love idea of the game (plot and gameplay), comic in the beginning looks amazing. I am very impressed that you did all that job alone! Unfortunately, in my first attempt on the first level, dog stuck in one of the blocks and i should reload level, also for me it was a little bit hard to control the dog, but maybe it is because i have never played games like this. But overall it's a great job!

dregs 2024-04-21 18:23

That was fun! Looking for my dog in L-Space. Intro art made me smile at the book titles.

Suggested Improvements: - I liked the movement mechanic, even if it got stuck a lot, although for me it was more like launching off the surface perpendicular rather than against local gravity, maybe take angle from player location to object center of mass and use that for the launch direction? - remove the bullets from being gravity objects, once or twice i managed to get stuck on a bullet. - for me the health bar did not show on the embedded version nor did the audio work if there was any.

alzhu1 2024-04-23 02:45

Congrats on the first Ludum Dare submission! This game has a pretty neat idea, and I thought the storyboards were pretty heartwarming, especially at the end. It gave a good motivation to try and complete each level.

For me, the movement in this game feels super awkward, and personally I wasn't a fan of the movement system of rotating and switching gravity. Not that it can't be done, but I found the actual movement a bit frustrating; for example, sometimes holding a direction would make me spin in circles, and it didn't feel super graceful. Perhaps a system where you're sticking to the wall would feel a little more natural, that way the left/right keys just move you along the wall.

I played this in browser and saw the same thing as the comment above; I couldn't see my health bar, so I was just hoping I didn't take too much damage. Overall though, it's impressive and awesome you were able to finish this submission and have a workable demo; great job!

frozenfire92 2024-04-25 02:00

Great work on your first entry! The intro story and art was cute and charming  The audio didn't seem to work for the web build for me. The controls were impossibly hard and not enjoyable :joy: For a first entry this is very good work though! Keep on making games

creeper-nade 2024-04-26 13:02

Great work! The intro story is adorable. For the gameplay, it's kinda hard to get used to the controls, for most of the time I was spinning & glitching at a corner, but I assume it's where the gameplay gets innovative.

crocidb 2024-04-26 16:24

I really appreciate the innovation in terms of gameplay, it was really interesting and fun! Good job!

smidgens 2024-04-26 18:04

Great entry! I didn't know what to make of the control scheme at first. For a second I almost thought it was bugged, then I realized it wasn't and got worried it would grow tiresome, but it then it quickly started to grow on me and became kinda fun trying to master it. The trail is a nice touch. It definitely makes the movement feel a lot more responsive than it would be otherwise. I'd be curious to see what this game would look and feel like with those placeholder boxes swapped out for actual scenery (in the same style as the sprites).

Hello everyone! Apologies for the late reply. I want to thank you all for taking the time to leave a comment for my game!

Sorry for the janky controls (and audio I finally realized why it was missing :') ). I'm hoping to at least make a V2 based on the feedback sometime this year (hopefully).

List of changes TODO for post Jam V2 based on feedback: - Fix the movement bugs (spinny corners and laggy bits especially) - Better visual representation of current gravity direction & movement options - Fix the broken Audio SFX - Add the missing BGM (prev incomplete) - Level differentiation beyond quantity of enemies and map layout - Fix goal and player spawn in wall bug - Fix health bar visuals off screen issue - Fix level colliders - Graphics updates for sprites and bg - Ignore bullet collision for gravity computation

Thank you for your kind comments about the game and also compliments about the art. Special thanks to everyone spent time to play through the whole thing and those who let me know about the bugs and crashes.

Hope to see y'all around next LD!
