I finished it and died only 2 times, it was fun! The animations are good.

@martin-bousquet Nice! I'm a little afraid it would be too hard. Thanks for playing! :smile_cat:
Really hard, but it's fun. Good job
Nice little game! I died quite a few time. I find it quite good as balance.. it's challenging but not impossible, nor too easy. I love the retro-style btw
@taeghen Thanks for playing, glad you had some fun! @tanis Thanks for your feedback! I think the forgiving checkpoints were key to keeping it "easy", but I could tell it may be on the tough side for some folks.
fun game! i don't think it ties in with the "limited space" theme all too well though, many platformers already out there where the screen scrolls up and/or have similar hazards
I love it animation was smooth and design was great. there are many new mechanics on the way to makes it not boring. i particularly like how the lightning interact with platform.
oh, and this [QQ图片20231003103821.png](///raw/46a/84/z/5efd8.png)
i sent it twice
5 deaths and 4 minutes! Loved the game, everything is just so well-polished! The soundtrack fitted so nicely, congratulations on the submission! The only feedback would be regarding the last screen that shows your death and time, which disappeared so fast I could not print it haha.
@imontheweb Thanks for your feedback, glad you had fun!
@haotian-chen Thanks! I actually wish the lightning didn't go as far up into the platforms but it was a late addition and I didn't get to polish it. Turned out alright though!
@matheuscunegato Thanks for playing! I'm thinking you may have been pressing buttons on the score screen because it's not supposed to reset unless you press something  whoops lol
Gee Billy, how come your Mom lets you submit a game to *two* gamejams.
Very charming art and music, and I thought the difficulty level was just right. Only critique is that the enemy cycle patterns seem to matter a lot, sometimes you respawn and an enemy is in a part of their cycle that makes the next segment particularly difficult.
Doesn't fit the theme of the jam and controls feel somewhat crappy. Aside from that, I absolutely love the sound and visual effects, great job.
Esse jogo só tem um defeito muito grave, ele acaba D:
Parabéns cara, um jogo bonito, que controla bem, tem uma boa trilha sonora, sfx e uma boa variedade, um jogo completo!
the art are so fine and polished ! realy good job !
certainly the best game i watched at this jam)
Really nice graphics and sound that go well with the atmosphere! It was a bit annoying that the game kept making itself fullscreen after a respawn.
Very cool game! And also nice music. As a retro platformer enthusiast myself I want to ask you if you could tell me what color pallete you used please!
Really juicy graphics and the game overall is polished, but I have lack of additional mechanic for platforming
@nathmate Thanks for your feedback. The cycles are something I would have addressed with more time.
@ilunailuna Thanks for your feedback. Glad you liked the sound and visual effects!
@jozgames Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
@akitl Thanks! Appreciate your feedback!
@iliusha Thanks! I've sure you'll find some better games along the way! It's still early
@jrf Thanks! Sorry about that fullscreen thing, that's definitely unintended, thanks for the heads up.
@bluedandelion Thank you! The palette is based on the NES.
@soffu Thanks for your feedback! I would have done more with more time. I was just focused on a solid play-able game. There's strong inspiration from the Arcade Donkey Kong, where even Jumpman got a hammer power up; I really wanted to do something like that.
Neat! Solid platformer. I like the animations, are they rigged?
Very nice animations and level design. Had a blast playing! Great work on the game!
only 7 deaths! really fun, really clever enemy designs.
Cool game! I like the level visually changes while you climbing. The boss is amazing! My score: 31 deaths
13 deaths! Haha fantastic entry as usual Ismael. It was fun, the difficulty was handled well and parts that felt too difficult was made up for it by putting convenient save points. Felt like an arcade platformer. Was well put together. Great job, can't wait to see more like always.
@koboldskeep Thanks! Yeah, the people are made of parts. The climbing sprites are a separate object. Player.png
@logan-core Thanks! Glad you had fun!
@brodnork Thanks! I think the laser dudes are the most interesting.
@nikaz Thanks! :eyes: That's a lot of deaths lol good job sticking with it!
@pious Thanks! Was definitely aiming for retro style arcade platformer.
I feel like this game has incredible design--everything is tutorialized/taught as you play in a very subtle way, like how walking into the side of a mushroom will bounce you or how certain enemies behave. I didn't love the controls but I still played to the end because, even though it wasn't my preference, I understood exactly what was happening and why. It all made sense and I could tell when something was due to my play. I also really liked the animation! It was incredibly smooth on the main character but still pixely. How did you do that?
@animatrix1490 Thanks for your feedback! The animation is smooth because it's using a bunch of interpolated frames just rendered into crunchy pixels using a low rez render texture (Unity's 2D Pixel Perfect Camera)

I love it! Good work! I want more and that it's a good signal, right?

Well done! Take a candy! :candy:
That was so fun! Very satisfying movement and very nice level design.
Wow, best game I played on this jam. Animations and movement is smooth and overall looks is polished and beauty. Real gem, love it
@abdul-zakkar Thanks! Glad you had fun!
@animaster Thanks for such high praise! I'm sure you'll find some better games lol, I know they're out there!
Very complete game! It's beautiful and sounds amazing. The mood is really there. Controls feelt weird at first, but it does feel retro (which is probably intended) and I got used to it pretty fast (Thanks god the frequent respawns tho). I especially liked the boss fight being part of the platforming, felt very natural to play and kind of epic. I didn't feel a very strong connection with the theme tho, especially since the auto scrolling actually didn't pressure me that much. Most of the time I wasn't paying attention to it at all. Thanks for the game!
@yorsh Thanks for detailed feedback! I got a bunch of feedback that the theme representation is weak, understandable. I wonder if I had made the auto-scroll less forgiving (faster and deadlier) if folks would have accepted my take on "limited space". It is pretty hard (for me) to die to the auto-scroll. Thanks again!
Bro, I am impressed everytime I play one of your games. I saw the preview for this one and thought it wasn't gonna be as good, but damn...The polish and just genuine goodness is always there. I forgot I was playing a Jam game and was immersed like playing a fully polished game, controls are super tight. I wanna point out I am reminded of Joe & Mac with the caveman having blue hair AND the original Donkey Kong arcade game where the character only makes noise when he walks, AND Adventure Island (caveman and girl gets kidnapped). I have to agree, the only reason I was cautious about this not being good was the theme, I think you are right that if it had been more dangerous/quick it would've felt more connected to the theme. Also agree with someone else that said teaching the player as they play was executed very well here. I love platformers so much and this was great.
Charming platform game with interesting mechanics, very cool graphics and music, and a terrific opening scene for the setup. Did not like that I could die by just scrolling upward - I'm not good enough for these games for that to be a fun extra penalty, and landing on the vines was tricky. Did like the many save points - so many platform games are unplayable for me because you can't save often enough, and I'm not great at them. Nice work! My fullscreen attempt also didn't work with an error.
@beeb-gamecodecompany Thanks for your feedback! I think most of my inspiration came from Donkey Kong, the similarities to Mac & Joe and Adventure Island are probably more subconscious or just coincidence. I did kind of have Adventure Island in mind while the grass skirts were being drawn, but it's not like they invented grass skirts lol. The Damsel in Distress plot is a classic trope. I knew I wanted to have a UFO, and figured it would be nice to have it abduct someone or something. Glad you had some fun!
@dob Thanks for your feedback! See, the auto-scrolling has been a point of debate, where some were never threatened by it, and others were made extra anxious. That's just how it is sometimes, can't please everyone  lol Glad you still found it enjoyable, with the generous save points, I try to keep things accessible, reduce punishment, and still keep things challenging. (Not sure why the full-screen is being finicky) Thanks again!
Love your games!
What a fun game this is! It feels very polished. The controls feel very nice, the graphics look super retro with those bright colors + black theming. The music fits very good to the graphics.
The way the GF gets abducted really sets the scene. It gives a sense of purpose why you need to reach the top. No text needed
The save points are a welcome addition
Very smooth mechanics, great Job!
Cool game! I like how you made something that worked for both of the game jams you were doing. The game also feels polished and complete for being just 48 hours!
Really really fun, so much so that I couldn't stop until I finished. I think this is the best thing for the developer to hear, right, that your game is fun. And it's not difficult, although it's not easy. I saw that you were worried about the difficulty and you're right, the insane difficulty imbalance right at the beginning destroys any fun. There was a moment in the middle of the game when I suspected the difficulty was advancing too quickly, but it was just a passing sensation, somehow you always balanced everything. There's one thing about the graphic that I thought was really good, which is the black background. This isn't used much and it made me realize that it looks really good, the contrast with the elements was great. And the second thing is that initially you almost fooled me that it was pixel art, although there was something different there, it looked like improved pixel art. I went to your itch.io page, looked at Patreon, Steam, etc., and saw that you are very experienced, and it's no wonder the game is so balanced. It all seems very simple but anyone who knows knows, balancing these apparently simple things is not easy. So I think you simulated pixel art but as it is done in unity, you used sprites simulating pixel art and that gave me a lot of ideas as well of what can be done, although in my case I don't use graphics like that, but I could use it someday in future who knows. It was a great learning experience and great fun. And the music never got old, thank goodness. sadsa.jpg
Lovely little game, oddly really peaceful considering that it gets really frantic towards the end! Great arcade-y vibes, platforming was solid and it controlled extremely well. Enjoyed that the camera scrolls up slowly too adding a sense of dread. Really well made! Highly enjoyed!
