Nice entry ! I really liked the simple roguelite take on the theme, i can see a potential to make a really cool game with a small scope, an extended version with more enemy type and cool upgrade would be awesome (maybe there is more but i eventually died before seeing more) !

bluedandelion 2023-10-03 18:50

Cool idea. The battle system is simple but really fun and challenging (sometimes a bit unfair but only rarely). I liked the game, good job team!

teejio 2023-10-03 23:26

Nice Idea, the transitions are really good as well. The game is really challenging however, maybe slow down time a bit for the enemies while you grab parts?

its-capp 2023-10-03 23:33

this is actually really sick, I had fun with the reflecting mechanic and it felt good to use too. the only problem i really have is that the game ends abruptly. it's overall really good tho!

ryrumeli 2023-10-05 05:11

The game is pretty tough! I honestly feel like the roguelite aspects of inventory management fit with the theme better than the defensive mechanic itself. I love how the cues are well done and how polished the experience feels, even if I feel the feedback for the bounces on enemies could be a bit more telegraphed. But I honestly love the level of polish in this and this is an idea I could totally see being taken to an actual game.

binayas 2023-10-05 05:18

Neat game, the hitbox and timing to reflect attacks was a little to small for me. Otherwise had fun, good luck on your other games!

ldkuba 2023-10-05 12:04

The parry mechanics felt great. However other areas of the game were a bit buggy. Esp. the tetris modules. After rotation they would sometimes get placed back to where they were but stick out of the edges. Also sometimes the new modules disappeared. And I think I got stuck doing the same station over and over again, even though I cleared all the enemies. Other than that, it was very fun to play :)

lachlan-james 2023-10-05 12:09

Core reflecting game loop is really solid. Nice and chunky and satisfying to nail - camera movements on click gave it a heap of gravity. Death animations would have been nice for the enemies to solidify that.

Wasn't sure why enemies were bouncing projectiles back sometimes and sometimes not. Interesting universe I'd be keen to learn a bit more about. Overall good stuff!

mar-zockmeister 2023-10-06 03:05

Really like the upgrade mechanism with the tetris elements, nice idea!

goldenloser 2023-10-06 04:53

Nice Game!

tucan 2023-10-06 05:03

Nice game! I like the deflecting mechanics and having to time it just right, it can get really hard all of sudden though. Nice graphics and music too. Good Job!

allenski 2023-10-06 05:11

Nice take on the theme with a satisfying parry mechanic and interesting upgrade system!

ankledot 2023-10-06 05:47

Pretty cool concept but tbh i'm not sure what was that upgrade screen about, can you destroy/remove some upgrades? I couldn't really fit anything new cus it was packed from the start. Also it would be nice to see some variety in enemy types. Anyway good start :)

guardaro 2023-10-06 05:48

Interesting! My first impression was that I wasn't going to enjoy this one, but it definitely grew on me. The "tile puzzle" upgrade system was very cool and a definite highlight. I'm not quite sure whether I was playing it right; whenever I would reach a certain room it would fade out and then start me back at the beginning (and probably with more enemies on the ship?). I wasn't sure whether this was the entire game or whether I just wasn't figuring out how to progress. Either way, nice entry!

blue-pin-studio 2023-10-06 07:22

Awesome entry, i only figured out about the Spacebar menu and how to use after 3 deaths, but better late than never! : ) Good entry, it was solid all around

pen-island-games 2023-10-06 07:45

This was seriously a lot of fun! Good job nailing the theme on 2 fronts, and the parry became super satisfying after applying the different modules. The only major thing missing imo was a health bar/indicator. I did finally notice the color changing when i let myself die but I still didn't know which color would be my last. Otherwise really fun mechanics and theme application!

brainles-etertainment 2023-10-06 10:30

The title is slightly confusing, I was expecting a play as a dial-up modem.

supersayafynn 2023-10-06 14:24

Really satisfying parry game! My only criticism would be that there is no difficulty curve and no clear goal.

ryn 2023-10-06 16:10

I had fun with your game but maybe the timing for the parry is too harsh ? Sometimes when there are multiple shots, it seems impossible to parry all of them. (Or I'm just bad at it).

As someone mentioned, the tile puzzle for the inventory is a great feature and fits the theme well :)

drumgadget-433 2023-10-06 16:10

This is a neat concept! The base reflecting mechanic felt really good to use, and had some nice "juice" with the slight zoom effect, squishy bullet animation, and great parry sounds. I found myself wishing I had just a little more space in my upgrade inventory so I wasn't swapping out pieces for the first upgrades I found. I felt more like I was creating a loadout than actually upgrading my character, maybe? Rotating parts would also help to maximizing that inventory space! Overall, really nice work!

juicybrucey 2023-10-06 16:49

Nice art here, and there's a surprising amount of skill for such simple combat mechanics! I did find that rotating some of the modules would mess with their contacts with other modules (so i could be a dirty cheater >:) ). For the time you had, very nice job with this one :)

jason-shapiro 2023-10-07 00:41

Quite cool! I like the zelda-like map. I don't understand how it fits the theme, but it's still fun. At first, I was annoyed when enemies shot super close to each other, but as I got used to it, I realized the parry length is quite generous and made everything feel doable. Definitely had that dark souls feel of how it was easier when I got good. My only complaint is that I don't understand what made the cash register sound that meant my parry was going to kill the enemy instead of it being sent back to me again. Was fun, thanks!

mistercarson 2023-10-07 00:53

I really enjoyed the sound and the overall feel of hitting a perfect parry. I will say I wish that there were more variety of enemies to fight. I also didn't know why I was moving onto next sections. I assume it's because I reached the "exit" of that floor, but there aren't any visual distinctions between the final room and normal rooms.

ricardobusta 2023-10-07 08:48

I liked the combat idea for that game. Sometimes it feels it's still not super responsive, but it's already very good for a jam game. I got a bit confused in the beginning because the 1st room I visted had items and I did not know what to do, but after I figured out it got very entertaining. Nice job!

spooncats 2023-10-07 20:41

super satisfying parry system, great idea!

graebor 2023-10-08 15:02

What a great idea, to just focus on a specific mechanic like that! At first I was confused about not being able to move but once it clicked what was going on, I thought it was great.

the3rdhunter 2023-10-10 03:12

Interesting concept. Well executed. The menus, audio, and graphics show real polish. The parrying system was interesting and made for some frantic action while trying to parry shots coming from all angles. Great work!

ku-sahlstedt 2023-10-10 15:51

Really polished game!

flothesnitchy 2023-10-18 13:41

I'm terrible at these games but that said it was very nicely executed as has been pointed out above, and I really like the art style and audio, it gives a great feeling to playing the game :)

aucguy 2023-10-19 05:47

I liked the challenge of trying to time clicking to bounce the bullets back at the enemies. The mechanics were simple but still engaging. I also liked the art.

One thing I would change is to add instructions to exit the upgrade screen because it took me a while to figure that out.

raphiell 2023-10-20 18:45

Parrying felt great! And the vibe of these (maybe derelict?) stations was spot-on. Great entry.
