I'm very impressed by the look and feel of this game. The instructions, etc, all really nicely done. Unfortunately, I dug around for quite a while, had to self destruct many times, and never found a gem. Still, really like the effort and attention to detail.

Has a really good color pallete, but i found it frustrating, and i think 10 ladders were not enough.

Thanks for the feedback! :)
The gem is actually close to the bottom of the world. In the game that inspired mine, there is an upgrade to locate the objective. Sadly, I didn't have the time to implement it. ^^'
And regarding ladders, it's purposefully a small amount. There actually is an upgrade to get more.
In both cases, I guess the tutorial could have helped to explain that better. ^^'
Hi! It seems your game is not working on web, when I click on the itch.io link and run game, Its stuck at the loading screen.
Fun, but needs some tuning. It was easy for me to buy every upgrade. The ladder mechanic is interesting, it keeps me coming back to the surface.
Also! I thought "slow walker" was the name of the upgrade, not saying that _I_ was a slow walker. I expected this upgrade to slow me down, and did not buy it. I wish I bought it earlier on!

this game is slow but it's not a problem, by the way the graphics are great
@plazyqwerty That's weird. I had a similar issue when submitting the game but had it fixed by tweaking a setting in Unity. Perhaps there are still some cases where it doesn't work.
What browser did you use to try to play the game?

dug quite deep in this game, it was fun creating a network of ladders. if the game get's further development after this ludum dare, it would be cool to turn the ladders into escalators/elevators that spring the player rapidly to the surface
The chill music kept me playing for longer than I figured I would. I like the concept of this game, but after several minutes of digging around, I started to lose interest as it seemed like the best tactic to take was dig down for a bit then backtrack back to the surface when you got roughly 10 more levels deep. That meant I spent a lot of my time just backtracking rather than exploring which frustrated me a bit.
That said, I thought the game was nicely polished and I'm very thankful for the in-game tutorial. I'd much rather read something like that then have to pull up the LD page or read the Itch website to understand how to play the game. Nice job!

Really nice game, I liked the gameplay dynamics and it actually kept me hooked with trying to get upgrades for longer than I'd like to admit lol

Pretty chill game but I made bad financial decisions and ended up not being able to get the drill upgrade and soft locked which wasn't fun :(

I really dug this game! Wish there was more things to spend all the $ on. Maybe strip mining the whole world was a bit overkill ;)

Well balanced game. Our game would need a similar upgrade system. And I really like the robot's face: smile:
Fun game, very chill! Love the angry looking robot character! I actually liked that getting $$ to max out the upgrades ramped up pretty quick - if it didn't getting to the win condition probably would have felt a little grindy. I think if you expand on this with more exploration/game objectives, _then_ would be the time to adjust the $$$ rate.
Nice game, very relaxing. The upgrades you can get pretty fast so you don't have to grind out the money, I liked that. Solid audio as well, good job!

Overall I really enjoyed playing this, reminded me a lot of the classic game motherload. I think one minor improvement could be adding some penalty to horizontal movement since there is nothing to dissuade the player from doing a zig zag movement

Interesting and well-constructed. I had a couple of frustrating falling deaths before I figured out the ladder rules. I think I would have preferred a smaller map with more dense interesting stuff, but this was cool. I liked how you could sort of build yourself a mine structure and expand on it in repeated missions. Nice work.

Loved the wacky robot grin and having to keep track of the amount of ladders I had left. However the controls are rather sensitive I managed to accidentally drill down numerous times when I actually didn't have any more laddersleft to get back up. It was a nice touch that the ladders stayed in place after a reset to allowing me to get out of my ladder predicament
Nice game. The ladders were an interesting way to force the player to come up. The upgrades felt pretty cheap and I basically only had to do 1 dig down for each rock level.
Really like this, it's nice to play something a little less hectic, I was a big fan of boulderdash as a kid and your economy adds another layer ... I will definitely be having a second session later (after work)
Cute little game, very enjoyable. The many upgrades makes it not frustrating, and it feels like you really put a lot of work in it! I think that a good little improvement on the game would be that the death doesn't delete all of the player's gold but just a high percentage of it, like 80% or something like that, so that it doesn't give the impression that we played "for nothing at all" when a dive end up in a destruction
Good job :)

I got the undergem! Really enticing gameplay, it kept me playing right till the end. I chuckled a couple times when my robot got faster and faster.
It's hard to come up with improvements.. Perhaps the game could do with a graphics makeover, and maybe some more obstacles that, perhaps, make it so that you can't just make one massive ladder all the way down, would be cool. Also I was a little sad that getting the undergem stopped any visible sign of my money progress. I collected most of the valuables from the lower layers all in one go and was really keen to see how much money i ended up with, but getting the gem is ultimately the end and stops you from seeing your money.
Really polished game with a good vibe and enticing gameplay. Well done.

Great game! I'm impressed with how complete it is. I was a bit confused by the slow walker upgrade, I thought it would make me slower. After I got enough money to by the other upgrades I finally bought it and realized it did make me faster. I got all the upgrades and the got the undergem! With a bit more polish and some difficulty adjustments, this could be a successful game.

Very good game ^^ It's really interesting to put scale at the good time and think about how going up. Gameplay simple and efficient I like it! Thank you

Very polished game with good build in instructions. It feels complete and it's fun to play, good job. I would like to have a mechanic though that keeps me from staying underground for too long. If you only dig left and right, ladders are no limiting factor. Some holes in the map might have already helped (maybe lava further down), because you would have to dig around and thus use up ladders.

Super polished game, the gameplay lasts considerably long (probably the longest I played a LD game so far) and you don't get bored of it. My only complaint is that the upgrade that makes you faster is a little misleading at first, I thought it actually made you slower bc the upgrade said "slow walker" at lvl 1. Other than that a super complete game, everything was great: the gameplay itself, thoughtful upgrades, the UI and tutorial which made for a great user experience, the responsive sound effects. Maybe if I were really picky I could see some improvement for the graphics/animations but the simple look currently is already good on the eyes. Overall such a well made game

Cool cartoon art style. The pixel-y particle explosion when you die looks really cool too :) Decent element of strategy too with the ladder system, and the music is nice. I think the green "+x" number in the money area could be a bit bigger/more noticeable.
It took me a while, but I won! :D Fun game

Amazing game. This reminds me of a very old flash game I used to play. I played it all the way through and found the diamond. Your game was a lot of fun and the nice ambient music and the art style conveyed an overall relaxing and peaceful mining adventure. Also, I liked the initial instructions in the game. I always prefer a good ingame tutorial over three pages of text on the website.

A good polished job for a short jam! Well done! However, It seemed possible to completely box oneself in by the tunnels you burrowed meaning no way to progress. A jump mechanic so you can jump over tunnel entrances on the surface would be a good addition! Good luck!
Great game! It looks really amazing, really well done for doing it in just two days!

Very nice entry :) A bit slow at the beginning but as you upgrade it gets easier and faster :)
