10/10, has comic sans

tombofry 2013-04-29 13:43

I'd like to play/vote, however I get the following error message (I am running on version 1.6, maybe it's that?):

Could not find the main class: ludumdare.LudumDare. Program will exit.

raimonds1503 2013-04-29 13:47

Loved the turning mechanic [:

floatingghost 2013-04-29 14:24

I'm running 1.7 - have you extracted the files from the zip? It appears to hate it if you don't.

metadept 2013-04-29 14:27

Hahah, cute! What if we don't want to rescue it, though?? My only suggestion is to make projectiles/enemies Times New Roman letters for thematic effect.

timtipgames 2013-04-29 14:29

Thank god I was able to save comic sans :)
A bit too easy for my taste. The way you implemented ducking is an interesting way to do it :)

yezu 2013-04-29 14:30

Can't run on Fedora.
"Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no lwjgl in java.library.path"

I guess something wrong with path setup.

floatingghost 2013-04-29 14:41

Ooh, I did do the linux natives majig... No idea why it won't run.

overv 2013-04-29 14:45

Fun little game! I like the replayability through saving Comic Sans again!

morgawr 2013-04-29 14:45

Same here, Linux (Ubuntu), cannot run this because of missing main class yadda yadda

floatingghost 2013-04-29 14:46

That is rather odd. I'll see if I can fix it.

shigor 2013-04-29 14:52

Save the COMIC SANS!!!!! Now if there only were some potatoes....

karsyf 2013-04-29 14:54

"Times New Roman is Victorious" and I lolled out loud =D

depp 2013-04-29 15:02

Hilarious and fun! But it seems random how high I jump...

fabienporee 2013-04-29 15:25

That ducking animation is absolutely wonderful.

invaderjim 2013-04-29 15:29

The total package.

holofire 2013-04-29 16:16

Absolutely hilarious. Such a simple and original idea. I love it.

The jumping is a bit...wierd.

merkoth 2013-04-29 16:19

Tried to play under latest OSX, got this error:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: ludumdare/LudumDare : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0

cosinep 2013-04-29 19:10

Love the theme. A little short lived, but cool. One problem... Comic Sans can't be saved! Haha.

senordiablo 2013-04-29 20:03

ahaha very funny and fun. good work

liamlime 2013-04-29 20:08

<font face="Comic sans MS">I had fun</font>

j0n 2013-04-29 20:40

Haha, enjoyed it a lot. On windows had to run it from command line to get the classpath right using "java -jar LudumDare.jar".

jellycakes 2013-04-30 01:39

Pretty fun, too short though. Maybe a bit more polish too but other than that nice game.

lightnarcissus 2013-04-30 16:59

Pretty hilarious at times! I'm scoring this high on humor because it actually made me LOL-out a number of times. :D

the-jack 2013-04-30 17:01

Good little game.

dedhedzed 2013-04-30 17:38

Ha, I like it. Very simple.

The theme for the last LD was "You Are The Villain". This would've fit in MUCH better with that, since 'rescuing' Comic Sans makes me feel like I'm committing some sort of crime.

purplescape 2013-04-30 23:04

Funny game! So glad I saved Comic Sans

phocker 2013-05-02 04:33

its amazing what people come up with at these things -- really nice effort -- gets insanley hard

taylorlunt 2013-05-03 04:10

Great...

cambrian_era 2013-05-05 02:42

I think something's off in the jump code. Sometimes you do little hops, sometimes it's a big leap. Still, best font-based run and jump game I've played this year!

pvwradtke 2013-05-05 02:55

I had some problems to run it on Ubuntu 12.04 and OpenJDR6. I had to install openjdk7 and "sudo update-alternatives --config java" to select JDK7 in order to get it to work. Glad i dit it, had a good laugh with this one. Very easy to win, but dodging all those falling potatoes to rescue comicsans was entertaining. :)

sudorossy 2013-05-05 22:12

It was interesting...

maple 2013-05-06 03:18

*Ahem*, your hitboxes are terrible, but otherwise you did a good job.

Am I meant to want to lose?

Also, you really shouldn't be mixing post-compo stuff with compo stuff, unless it is strictly game-breaking bugs. You should make a post-compo link for the post-compo version, so people aren't rating what you did after LD.

th3dz 2013-05-06 13:57

Sorry, couldn't start on my mac :(

floatingghost 2013-05-09 18:35

Maple, it was a game-breaking bug. It wouldn't launch on mac or linux, I added 2 lines to load the correct natives. That is all.

badlydrawnrod 2013-05-09 21:22

Jumping is a bit floaty, but ... well, it does what it says on the tin.

Coil_Whine 2013-11-09 05:51

yeaaaah I like this a lot.
